A recessive mutation causing imperforate vagina in mice   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A recessive mutation (ipv) causing imperforate vagina was discovered in a line of mice selected for low lean tissue mass as a proportion of body weight. Two full sisters were found to have marked swelling of the perineum and complete closure of the vagina. Crosses of heterozygotes identified by progeny testing produced a female progeny ratio not different from the 3 normal: 1 affected (chi 2 = 0.695; p less than .3) expected on the basis of a recessive allele at a single autosomal locus. As a consequence of the imperforate vagina, the uterus and vagina were greatly distended by fluid. The uterus of affected females displayed a swollen uterine lumen and thin endometrial stroma and muscularis. Ovarian tissue of affected females was similar to that of normal mice, and affected females produced ova that were normal in appearance. The mutation causing an imperforate vagina may present a useful model for studying the basis of abnormal vaginal development in other species and increasing the understanding of normal vaginal development in the mouse.  相似文献

目的观察外阴阴道假丝酵母菌病阴道清洁度的情况。方法用湿片法进行阴道分泌物检查,随机选取1000例念珠菌阳性分泌物,对其阴道清洁度进行观察。结果1000例念珠菌阳性分泌物中,阴道清洁度Ⅳ度有606例,阴道清洁度Ⅲ度有279例,阴道清洁度Ⅱ度有82例,阴道清洁度Ⅰ度有33例。结论虽然大多数念珠菌阳性分泌物(88.5%)阴道清洁度异常(Ⅲ~Ⅳ度),但仍然有少数念珠菌阳性分泌物(11.5%)阴道清洁度属于正常(Ⅰ~Ⅱ度)。这一结果应有助于临床妇产科医生在为患者做常规妇检、在外观性状上对阴道分泌物作判断时采取更加谨慎的态度。  相似文献

Although considerable biomechanical investigations have been conducted to understand the response of the cervical spine under whiplash (rear impact-induced postero-anterior loading to the thorax), studies delineating the effects of initial spinal curvature are limited. This study advanced the hypothesis that abnormal curvatures (straight or kyphotic) of the cervical column affect spinal kinematics during whiplash loading. Specifically, compared to the normal lordotic curvature, abnormal curvatures altered facet joint ligament elongations. The quantifications of these elongations were accomplished using a validated mathematical model of the human head-neck complex that simulated three curvatures. The model was validated using companion experiments conducted in our laboratory that provided facet joint kinematics as a function of cervical spinal level. Regional facet joint ligament elongations were investigated as a function of whiplash loading in the four local anatomic regions of each joint. Under the normal posture, greatest elongations occurred in the dorsal anatomic region at the C2-C3 level and in the lateral anatomic region from C3-C4 to C6-C7 levels. Abnormal postures increased elongation magnitudes in these regions by up to 70%. Excessive ligament elongations induce laxity to the facet joint, particularly at the local regions of the anatomy in the abnormal kyphotic posture. Increased laxity may predispose the cervical spine to accelerated degenerative changes over time and lead to instability. Results from the present study, while providing quantified level- and region-specific kinematic data, concur with clinical findings that abnormal spinal curvatures enhance the likelihood of whiplash injury and may have long-term clinical and biomechanical implications.  相似文献

对正常人及支原体性阴道炎患者的阴道菌群进行定量测定,结果表明支原体性阴道炎分泌物中,乳杆菌的分离率和数量均较正常对照组低,而其他条件致病菌的分离率和数量均较正常对照组高。说明支原体性阴道炎患者阴道的正常菌群失调较为明显,因此,在临床治疗中除抗支原体外,尚需调整阴道菌群失调。  相似文献

Semen was collected from 10/10 llamas during 26/30 (87%) collection attempts using an artificial vagina mounted inside a surrogate female. For the 26 semen collections, the duration of copulation (mount to dismount) with the artificial vagina was 31.7 +/- 12.0 min (mean +/- SD). Seminal pH was 8.1 +/- 1.1, and seminal volume per collection was 3.0 +/- 1.9 ml. Sperm concentration per collection was 1.0 +/- 0.8 x 10(6) sperm/ml, total number of spermatozoa was 2.9 +/- 3.1 x 10(6), total sperm motility was 23.7 +/- 20.0%, and the percentage of morphologically normal spermatozoa was 39.7 +/- 18.5%. Morphologically abnormal spermatozoa were categorized according to abnormal heads (20.1 +/- 19.9%), tail-less heads (8.7 +/- 8.9%), abnormal acrosomes (12.9 +/- 12.4%), abnormal midpieces (1.0 +/- 3.7%), cytoplasmic droplets (11.1 +/- 12.4%), and abnormal tails (6.6 +/- 12.0%). There were 0.3 +/- 0.3 million motile, morphologically normal spermatozoa per collection: less than 1000 during the first 5 min of copulation, 0.01 +/- 0.01 x 10(6) between 5 and 10 min of copulation, 0.04 +/- 0.08 x 10(6) between 10 and 15 min of copulation, 0.09 +/- 0.21 x 10(6) between 15 and 20 min of copulation, and 0.15 +/- 0.28 x 10(6) between 20 min and the end of copulation.  相似文献

Material for endometrial cytology can be collected by veterinarians using guarded or unguarded swabs, or digitally with a gloved hand, and is an important diagnostic tool in establishing the endometrial health of mares prior to breeding. The aim of this study was to determine whether the use of unguarded endometrial samples is a reliable indicator of the presence of neutrophils in the uterus. Duplicate endometrial smears were collected from 41 genitally normal, non-pregnant fertile mares by both double-guarded swabs (DGS) and in an unguarded manner by digital scraping (DS) of the endometrium. In 17 of the 41 mares, smears were also collected from the cranial vagina by DS. Cytological samples were collected from a further seven non-pregnant mares at different reproductive stages, and tissues (vestibule, vagina and cervix) from four reproductively normal mares were examined histologically after slaughter to detect the presence of neutrophils. Only 3/41 (7.3%) of the DGS endometrial smears had neutrophils present compared to 36/41 (87.8%) of the DS endometrial smears. The percentage of neutrophils in DGS endometrial smears ranged from 0 to 6% (mean = 0.41%), whereas those in the DS smears ranged from 2 to 90% (mean = 22.02%). Neutrophils were present in all vaginal smears (17/17, range=3-56% (mean = 22.18%)). There was a significant positive correlation (r = 0.84; P < 0.001) between the percentage of neutrophils in the vagina and in the DS endometrial smears. More neutrophils were found in the cervix, vagina and vestibule than in endometrial smears during the cycle (P<0.05). Neutrophils were also observed in tissue collected from the cervix, vagina and vestibule from reproductively normal mares at post-mortem. In conclusion, endometrial smears collected using unguarded techniques are very likely to be contaminated with neutrophils transferred from the vagina potentially leading to incorrect diagnosis of endometritis. When collecting samples for endometrial cytology it is important to use guarded techniques to ensure that only the endometrium is sampled to avoid contamination with cells carried over from other areas of the reproductive tract.  相似文献

Altered joint motion has been thought to be a contributing factor in the long-term development of osteoarthritis after ACL reconstruction. While many studies have quantified knee kinematics after ACL injury and reconstruction, there is limited in vivo data characterizing the effects of altered knee motion on cartilage thickness distributions. Thus, the objective of this study was to compare cartilage thickness distributions in two groups of patients with ACL reconstruction: one group in which subjects received a non-anatomic reconstruction that resulted in abnormal joint motion and another group in which subjects received an anatomically placed graft that more closely restored normal knee motion. Ten patients with anatomic graft placement (mean follow-up: 20 months) and 12 patients with non-anatomic graft placement (mean follow-up: 18 months) were scanned using high-resolution MR imaging. These images were used to generate 3D mesh models of both knees of each patient. The operative and contralateral knee models were registered to each other and a grid sampling system was used to make site-specific comparisons of cartilage thickness. Patients in the non-anatomic graft placement group demonstrated a significant decrease in cartilage thickness along the medial intercondylar notch in the operative knee relative to the intact knee (8%). In the anatomic graft placement group, no significant changes were observed. These findings suggest that restoring normal knee motion after ACL injury may help to slow the progression of degeneration. Therefore, graft placement may have important implications on the development of osteoarthritis after ACL reconstruction.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken to examine whether leucocytic infiltration of the vagina of the rat at metoestrus is dependent on its contamination by micro-organisms. Observations were made on vaginal tissue that had been transplanted under the kidney capsule in cyclic rats, taking care to avoid infection during the transplantation procedure. In such grafts, changes occurred that were associated with ovulation and formation of the CL, but leucocytosis was never obtained at metoestrus. Cyclic changes were observed in the cell patterns of the vaginal smears of germ-free rats, and could be correled exactly with the ovarian cycle. No leucocytes were present at metoestrus. Many micro-orgainisms were present in the vagina at pro-oestrus and oestrus in normal cyclic females, but not at metoestrus and dioestrus. It is concluded that the occurrence of leucocytosis in the vagina at metoestrus in normal cyclic female rats depends on the presence of micro-oranisms.  相似文献

Neovascularization in cancer or retinopathy is driven by pathological changes that foster abnormal sprouting of endothelial cells. Mouse genetic studies indicate that the stress-induced small GTPase RhoB is dispensable for normal physiology but required for pathogenic angiogenesis. In diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) or age-related wet macular degeneration (AMD), progressive pathologic anatomic changes and ischemia foster neovascularization are characterized by abnormal sprouting of endothelial cells. This process is driven by the angiogenic growth factor VEGF, which induces and supports the formation of new blood vessels. While injectable biologics targeting VEGF have been used to treat these pathological conditions, many patients respond poorly, prompting interest in other types of mechanism-based therapy. Here we report the preclinical efficacy of a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets RhoB, a signaling molecule that is genetically dispensable for normal physiology but required for pathogenic retinal angiogenesis. In murine models of proliferative retinal angiogenesis or oxygen-induced retinopathy, administering a monoclonal RhoB antibody (7F7) was sufficient to block neoangiogenesis or avascular pathology, respectively. Our findings offer preclinical proof of concept for antibody targeting of RhoB to limit diabetic retinopathy, ROP or wet AMD and perhaps other diseases of neovasculogenesis such as hemangioma or hemangiosarcoma nonresponsive to existing therapies.  相似文献

Summary Three field trips were conducted to study the mycoflora of the baboon in its native habitat, East Africa. The flora of the throat, nose, ear, rectum, vagina, and skin of over 300 male and female baboons was studied. A total of 1102 yeast isolates was obtained. None of the molds isolated were of known significant pathogenicity, while yeast isolates were found to belong to the following major genera:Candida, Cryptococcus, Rhodotorula, Saccharomyces, Torulopsis, andTrichosporon. Candida albicans was found to be the yeast most frequently isolated in both 1964 and 1966, while species ofRhodotorula andCryptococcus were more frequently found in 1968. It is our belief that various ecological and geographical conditions have an effect on the mycoflora of the animals, specifically from the quantitative point of view.  相似文献

The bacteriological study of vaginal microflora in 24 clinically healthy girls aged 7-8 years was carried out. Two criteria of normal vaginal biocenosis in girls of prepuberal age were proposed. The proportion of hemolytic bacteria in the vagina of a girl of prepuberal age could reach 100% of all microflora, provided the total bacterial count (TBC) exceed average values. A high proportion of hemolytic bacteria in the vaginal microflora of girls of prepuberal age in combination with a high level of TBC (even with TBC not exceeding the upper limit of its normal value) could probably by regarded as a border state. No fungi of the genus Candida should be isolated from vagina in girls of prepuberal age. Facultative anaerobic microflora was represented mainly by Staphylococcus epidermidis and S. saprophyticus. In 64.3 +/- 12.8% of cases bifidobacteria were detected in the girls vagina.  相似文献

ObjectivesTo compare the consistency of HPV genotype and viral loads among different sites within the female genital tract, and to correlate these with clinical outcomes.Methods2646 previously unscreened rural women were enrolled in this population-based, cross-sectional study between May 2006 and April 2007. Physician-collected samples from lower vagina, upper vagina, cervix, and one self-collected sample were taken from each woman. Viral load was assessed by HC2 using the relative light unit/cutoff ratio (RLU/CO), and HPV genotyping was tested by Linear Array.ResultsThe low risk HPV positive rate was highest in lower vagina samples and lowest in cervix samples. Overall kappa values of high risk HPV types between various anatomic sampling sites showed substantial or almost perfect agreement among women with normal pathology, CIN1, and CIN2+. In the CIN2+ population, high risk HPV viral load for cervix samples (557.25 RLU/CO) were much higher than upper vagina samples (96.43 RLU/CO, P < 0.001), lower vagina samples (36.51 RLU/CO, P < 0.001), and self-collected (206.83 RLU/CO, P = 0.003) samples.ConclusionsAlthough the distribution of high risk HPV genotypes was fairly equivalent across different genital sites, particularly for CIN2+ lesions, viral loads were largely variable. The findings may affect the cervical cancer screening methods using self-collected samples, particularly in resource-challenged areas.  相似文献

An eight-year-old girl with marked short stature and no apparent stigmata of Turner syndrome was investigated. Clinical features include bilateral epicanthic folds, frontal bossing, prominent ears and normal intelligence. Ultrasound scanning revealed an apparently normal vagina, streak ovaries and no uterus. Bone age was normal. Karyotype analysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes showed mos 45,X/46,X tdic(Xp:Xp) in the ratio 66:34, respectively. In addition, three cells with different abnormal X chromosomes were present which possibly originated from a 46,XX clone. Replication of the duplicated X chromosome was consistently late and symmetrical. Buccal smear confirmation of the karyotype showed Barr body negative in 90% and large or bipartite in 10% of the cells. Karyotypes of the parents were normal. The clinical manifestations in cases of Xp deletion due to terminal rearrangement associated with or without a 45,X cell line are discussed.  相似文献

Two small, leaky silos were filled with normal high-moisture corn (HMC), and two with HMC severely infested by Helminthosporium maydis. Counts of mesophilic bacteria, lactobacilli, coliforms, yeasts, and molds were made on corn samples as received and periodically thereafter during 220 days of storage. Temperature and gas levels also were monitored. Sequential changes in the populations of lactobacilli, yeasts, and molds were determined during spoilage of HMC. These population changes were compared on the basis of the variables encountered in the present study as well as with the results of previous studies conducted on normal HMC stored under adequate conditions. Heavy infestation by H. maydis had no appreciable effect on HMC preservation.  相似文献

Summary Fractionation studies indicated that in the water molds: Allomyces javanicus, Pythium ultimum and Saprolegnia ferax the enzymes DHQ synthetase, DHQase (5-dehydroquinate hydrolyase, EC 4.2.1.10), DHS reductase, SA kinase and EPSP synthetase appeared in the same fraction after ammonium sulphate precipitation. Sucrose density gradient experiments also demonstrated an aggregation of at least three of the five activities in the above mentioned organisms. The molecular weight of the arom enzyme complex was found to be ca. 240000 daltons for Allomyces javanicus and Pythium ultimum and 211000 daltons for Saprolegnia ferax. These molecular weights are therefore, essentially similar to the MW values for arom aggregates obtained from other fungi (Ahmed and Giles, 1969). However, the dissimilarity between the organization of aromatic enzymes in the water molds and other fungi lies in the detection of a single stable arom aggregate in other fungi, whereas in the water molds, in addition to a normal, high molecular weight aggregate, partial aggregates with a MW of ca. 65000 daltons were also present. The possible molecular organization of the arom aggregates is discussed.  相似文献

Overgrowth by spreading molds such as Rhizopus and Mucor species is a problem with fungal enumeration media used for foods. Thirty-one antifungal compounds were surveyed for their ability to selectively inhibit such fungi while allowing growth of mycotoxigenic molds and other species of significance in food spoilage. Dichloran (2,6 dichloro-4-nitroaniline) restricted growth of Rhizopus stolonifer while allowing satisfactory growth of the other test molds. Three Rhizopus and Mucor species were encountered that were not inhibited by dichloran; these were controlled by the addition of rose bengal. The optimal medium, designated DRBC, contained 2 micrograms of dichloran and 25 micrograms of rose bengal per ml. DRBC, in pure culture tests and with food samples, restricted the colony size of spreading molds and recovered a wider range of species in higher numbers than other enumeration media.  相似文献

Papyraceous, mummified fetal membranes were found in the vagina of a cow at the end of the fourth month after a normal delivery. The uterus and cervix were without any pathological changes. The cow conceived on Day 36 after removal of the mummified fetal membranes upon the second insemination. Apart from the uncommon nature of the case, it proves that after calving the bovine vagina can maintain a sterile environment and that the constrictive mechanism of the vagina can be strong enough to hinder for a long time the discharge of fetal membranes and access of microbes to the vagina.  相似文献

耳河螺「Rivularia auriculata (Martens)」为雌雄异体。雄性生殖器官由精巢,输精小管,贮精囊,输精管,前列腺和阴茎组成。精巢内有精子,精子有典型精子和非典型精子两种。扫描电镜下,典型精子头部呈螺旋状,尾端只有一根较粗壮;非典型精子头部和中部为棒状,尾部呈扫帚状,由8-15根鞭毛组成。  相似文献
