Diarrhea, an increase in frequency of evacuation and in water content of the stool, is the result of three categories of mechanism--solute malabsorption, secretion of fluid and motility disturbance. Before diarrhea is considered an abnormal condition, any alteration in stool frequency and content must be related to an individual person''s normal bowel habit and to norms for the population, but more than three bowel movements or the passage of liquid stools exceeding 300 g daily should, in general, be considered abnormal. A useful way of understanding the mechanism of diarrhea is to become familiar with the normal functions of the bowel in regard to water and electrolyte absorption and motility, and then to relate these functions to solute malabsorption, fluid secretion and motility disturbance.  相似文献

Earlier findings /1-10/ bearing on a subunit organization of chromatin were confirmed and in some points detailed. Besides this, a large-scale isolation of chromatin subunits; their protein composition, electron microscopic appearance and CsCl banding pattern are described. Although the purified chromatin subunit contains all five histones, the relative content of histone H1 i in it is two times lower than that in the original chromatin. tit is shown that a mild digestion of chromatin with staphylococcal nuclease produced not only separate chromatin subunits and their "oligomers' but also deoxyribonucleoprotein particles which sediment more slowly than subunits. It appears that these particles and subunits are produced from different initial structures in the chromatin. Finally, a crystallization of the purified chromatin subunit as a cetyltrimethyl ammonium salt is described.  相似文献

A sphingomyelinase was purified 980-fold with recovery of 25.6% from the culture broth of Bacillus cereus, by (NH4)2SO4 precipitation and chromatography on CM-Sephadex, DEAE-cellulose and Sephadex G-75. The purified preparation was free of lipase, protease and other phospholipases. The enzyme specifically hydrolyzed sphingomyelin to ceramide and phosphorylcholine. Lysophosphatidylcholine was also attacked by the enzyme. The enzyme (Mr = 24 000) was maximally active at pH 6-7. Other properties of the enzyme, including hemolytic activity and activation/inhibition studies, are reported.  相似文献

Fibril-associated collagens (FACITs) form one of subfamilies included in family of collagens. Being minor components of connective tissue of multicellular animals, FACITs play an important role in structurization of extracellular matrix whose peculiarities determine essential intertissue differences. FACITs participate in regulation of sizes of banded collagen fibrils as well as are connecting links between various components extracellular matrix and cells in different tissues. Functional characteristics of FACIT molecules are determined by peculiarities of structural organization of their α-chains (breakdowns in collagenous domains and module structure of N-terminal noncollagenous sites), trimeric molecules (domains of trimerization) and supramolecular assemblies (mainly association with banded collagen fibrils and the inability to form homopolymeric supramolecular aggregates). The problem of evolution of this group of collagen molecules is also discussed. A hypothetical model of structural changes leading to formation of the FACIT subfamily is proposed.  相似文献

Two different theoretical models are used to represent the propulsive mechanisms of Opalina. One model uses the concept of an envelope over all the cilia, while the other considers an array of elongated rods, similar to the model used in part 1. The envelope model shows a correlation between the motion of the cilium tip and the type of metachronism exhibited by the organism but under-predicts the velocities of propulsion. Calculations of the velocity profile, force and bending moment are carried out on the three-dimensional beat of a cilium of Opalina ranarum using the cilia sublayer model. The mean velocity profile is found to be twisted in form: in a clockwise direction at the top of the cilia sublayer relative to the effective stroke. Calculations of the force and rate of working emphasize the approximately equal duration of the effective and recovery strokes. Overall the sublayer model is found to be a more informative and useful approach than the envelope model which is limited to small amplitude motions.  相似文献
