Two new species of the genus Corollospora, namely, C. anglusa sp. nov. with its anamorph Varicosporina anglusa sp. nov. and C. portsaidica sp. nov., which were isolated from the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt, are described in this article based on morphological and molecular evidence. The two new species have one-septate ascospores. Corollospora anglusa resembles C. gracilis by having narrow one-septate hyaline ascospores; however, they differ in ascomata and ascospore dimensions and in pure culture characteristics. Single-ascospore culture of C. anglusa produces the conidia of its anamorph, whereas an anamorph has not been reported for C. gracilis. Varicosporina anglusa differs from the other two known Varicosporina species by having conidial branches that are filamentous, rectangularly branched, hypha like, and disarticulated into two- or one-celled fragments. Corollospora portsaidica is morphologically similar to C. cinnamomea, but the two species differ in the dimensions, shape, and ornamentation of the ascospores. The new Corollospora species were confirmed to be divergent from other similar Corollospora species based on phylogenetic analyses of partial sequences of the LSU rDNA region.  相似文献

Sixty-nine species and four varieties that belong to 28 genera of terrestial fungi were recovered from polluted and non-polluted water and mud samples on glucose and cellulose-Czapek's agar at 28°C. The most common species from the two substrates on the two types of media were Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A.niger, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Fusarium oxysporum, Mycosphaerella tassiana and Penicillium chrysogenum. Twenty-six species belonging to 14 genera were isolated from polluted (26 species and 14 genera) and non-polluted (17species and 10 genera) mud samples on Sabouraud's dextrose agar at 28°C. The most prevalent species were Acremonium retiulum, Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus flavus, Aphanoascus fulvescens, A. terreus, Aphanoascus sp., Penicillium funiculosum and Stachybotrys chartarum.  相似文献

Effects of pH, NH4-N, and temperature on basidiospore germination in Coprinopsis austrophlyctidospora from New Zealand, C. phlyctidospora from Japan, C. aff. rugosobispora from Canada, and C. echinospora from Canada were investigated. The Coprinopsis spp. required the presence of ammonium-nitrogen under weak alkaline to neutral conditions for germination, regardless of their different areas of occurrence. The former two species had a wider concentration of NH4Cl solution and pH range for germination in comparison to the latter two species. The optimum concentration of NH4Cl solution for the germination was 0.01 M in C. austrophlyctidospora and 0.1 M in the other three species. The pH optimum for germination in the former two species was 8.0 whereas that for germination in the latter two species was 8.0–8.5. The temperature range (5.0–40.0°C) for the former two species was wider than that (5–30°C) for the latter two species. Temperature optima for the germination in the former two species, C. aff. rugosobispora and C. echinospora, were 30, 20–25 and 15°C, respectively. The germination abilities of these Coprinopsis species in a wide range of temperatures are relevant to their natural temperature regime, showing their potential ability to propagate in tropical to subarctic regions.  相似文献

Based on morphological characteristics and molecular phylogeny, we reclassified Cordyceps cuboidea and allied species C. alboperitheciata, C. prolifica, and Ophiocordyceps ryogamiensis. We investigated their teleomorph-anamorph relationships and revealed that these four species have Hirsutella-like anamorphs with morphological differences between them. By analyzing their molecular phylogeny, inferred from DNA sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) D1/D2 region of rDNA, they were separated into four close-knit clades. Although C. prolifica and O. ryogamiensis formed their own clades, isolates of C. cuboidea separated into two clades, i.e., a true C. cuboidea clade and one resembling a new species, the O. paracuboidea clade. The latter two species are distinguished by the fruiting region of the stroma. In addition, C. alboperitheciata is regarded as a synonym of C. cuboidea. From the morphology, teleomorph-anamorph relationships, and molecular phylogeny, we concluded these species should be assigned to the genus Ophiocordyceps.  相似文献

The causal fungus of Ceratocystis canker of fig in Japan is described as Ceratocystis ficicola sp. nov. This species is characterized by galeated ascospores and is similar to Ceratocystis fimbriata sensu lato. However, the perithecia of the new species are much larger than those of C. fimbriata. The fungus grows more rapidly than C. fimbriata sensu stricto at 25°C but more slowly at 30°C. Molecular analysis of the nucleotide sequences of rDNA ITS regions showed that C. ficicola is phylogenetically placed in the clade of C. fimbriata s. l. but is easily distinguishable from other species of C. fimbriata s. l.  相似文献

Ophiostoma species such as O. quercus are the most frequent causal agents of sapstain of freshly felled hardwood timber and pulpwood. Many species are regarded as economically important agents of wood degradation. The aim of this study was to identify a collection of Ophiostoma isolates, resembling O. quercus, found on stained Eucalyptus pulpwood chips in China. DNA sequences of the internal transcribed spacer regions, including the 5.8S region, of the ribosomal DNA, and parts of the β-tubulin and elongation factor-1α genes, revealed that the isolates were not O. quercus. Surprisingly, they represented O. tsotsi, a wound-infesting fungus recently described from hardwoods in Africa. In addition, sequence data from an isolate from agarwood in Vietnam, identified in a previous study as belonging to an unknown Pesotum species, were also shown to represent O. tsotsi. A high level of genetic variability was observed among isolates of both O. quercus and O. tsotsi. This was unexpected and suggests that both species have been present in Asia for a significant amount of time.  相似文献

During a survey of plant-inhabiting fungi in a botanical garden in Japan, some noteworthy fungi were collected from leaf spots of some herbal and arboreal plants. Among them, five new species are described, namely: Phyllosticta. ardisiicola on Ardisia crenata, Phy. aspidistricola on Aspidistra elatior, Phy. kerriae on Kerria japonica, Phy. fallopiae on Fallopia japonica, and Pseudocercospora davidiicola on Davidia involucrata. Passalora pyrrosiae, a new combination for Pseudocercospora pyrrosiae on Pyrrosia lingua, is proposed based on its morphological characteristics designating the neotype specimen.  相似文献

Bulbs mycoflora and their relation with three stored product mites   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The distribution of moulds on stored and field onion and garlic plants infested by bulb mites in Assiut area (Egypt) was studied using PDA medium at 28 °C. Among 40 host samples and the three mite species tested no significant difference was noted in the contamination by moulds. A total of 20 species appertaining to 11 genera were identified from the tested mites and their habitats. The predominant moulds on all samples were “storage moulds” from the genera Aspergillus (A. niger, A. versicolor)and Penicillium (P. chrysogenum, P. funiculosum, and ``field moulds' among which Alternaria, Cladosporium,Fusarium (and its teleomorphs) and Setosphaeria were encountered most frequently. One fungus well known facultative pathogen was obtained: Beauveria bassiana. The tested mites transferA. niger, N. haematococca, R. stolonifer andP. chrysogenum outside their bodies while, A. flavusand A. ochraceus transfer through their digestive tracts along with the foods. Individuals of all mites could survived till the end of the experiment on all fungal species tested except A. niger, A. ochraceus and A. sydowii.Among 48 isolates screened for their ability to produce chitinase, about 83% of the isolates could produce this enzyme. Most of the positive isolates (17 isolates) had moderate producers This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A total of 28 deuteromycetous isolates obtained from forest environments in the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands and the Ryukyu Islands, Japan, were identified to five Cylindrocladium and related fungal species (Calonectria kyotoensis (anamorph: Cylindrocladium floridanum), Cylindrocladiella lageniformis, Cylindrocladium camelliae, Cylindrocladium citri, and Cylindrocladium tenue), excluding two unknowns. Cylindrocladiella lageniformis is a new record, and the others are rarely reported in Japan.  相似文献

Nematode-trapping fungi are ubiquitous in terrestrial habitats in dung, soils, litter and woody debris and they also occur in freshwater, but only one species has been found in marine habitats. The purpose of this study was therefore to investigate whether nematode-trapping fungi occurred in mangrove habitats. To achieve this we assessed the diversity of nematode-trapping fungi on decaying litter from mangroves, freshwater and terrestrial habitats (22 sites) in Hong Kong. Composite samples (n = 1,320) of decaying litter (wood and leaves) were examined and a total of 31 species of nematode-trapping fungi belonging to four genera, Arthrobotrys, Monacrosporium, and Dactylella were recorded. Twenty-nine species reported in this study are new records for Hong Kong and 16 species are new records from mangrove habitats worldwide. Nematode trapping fungi are therefore present in marine environments. Commonly encountered taxa were Arthrobotrys oligospora and Monacrosporium thaumasium which are abundant in all habitats. A. oligospora, M. thaumasium and Arthrobotrys musiformis were frequent (> 10%). Twenty-six species were rare (0.16–9.32%). Species richness and diversity was higher in terrestrial than in freshwater and mangrove habitats (ANOVA, < 0.001). A higher mean diversity was observed on decaying leaves as compared to decaying wood in all habitats (< 0.001). Based on Shannon diversity index, it was also observed that taxa characterized by adhesive nets were more frequent in all habitats. This can be explained by the fact that these taxa may have a better competitive saprotrophic ability which would allow them to compete favourably in nutrient limited environments. Abiotic factors that could be linked to differences in species diversity between decaying wood and leaves are also discussed.  相似文献

A rust species on Calystegia soldanella in Japan has been treated as Puccinia convolvuli to date. However, morphological characteristics of specimens on C. soldanella collected from Japan are significantly different from those of specimens on other Calystegia and Convolvulus species from different areas of the world. It is proved by inoculation experiment that the rust on C. soldanella is specific to C. soldanella. Based on these results, Puccinia rust on C. soldanella from Japan is described as a new species, Puccinia calystegiae-soldanellae.  相似文献

Colonization of mycorrhizal and root endophytic fungi in 14 Pedicularis species from northwest of Yunnan Province, southwest China, was examined. These species included: Pedicularis gracilis Wall., Pedicularis longipes Maxim., Pedicularis axillaris Franch., Pedicularis cephalantha Franch., Pedicularis tenuisecta Franch., Pedicularis tapaoensis Tsoong, Pedicularis likiangensis Franch., Pedicularis dichotoma Bonati, Pedicularis yui Li, Pedicularis rhinanthoides Schrenk, Pedicularis rex C.B. Clarke, Pedicularis longiflora Rudolph., Pedicularis siphonantha Don, and Pedicularis oxycarpa Franch., among which nine are endemic to China (one to Yunnan). Three types of potentially beneficial fungi associated with roots of these species were observed, namely, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, ectomycorrhizal fungi, and dark septate endophytic fungi (DSEF), with DSEF as the most common colonizers. An unexpected high colonization level was detected in this hemiparasitic genus. Of the 19 sampling sites examined, 10 gave colonization frequency of above 50% and 6 showed a colonization index of above 50. Heavy colonization suggested a significant ecological role of these fungi and their potential to be applied to successful cultivation of these intractable plants.  相似文献

Fungal biodiversity in freshwater, brackish and marine habitats was estimated based on reports in the literature. The taxonomic groups treated were those with species commonly found on submerged substrates in aquatic habitats: Ascomycetes (exclusive of yeasts), Basidiomycetes, Chytridiomycetes, and the non-fungal Saprolegniales in the Class Oomycetes. Based on presence/absence data for a large number and variety of aquatic habitats, about 3,000 fungal species and 138 saprolegnialean species have been reported from aquatic habitats. The greatest number of taxa comprise the Ascomycetes, including mitosporic taxa, and Chytridiomycetes. Taxa of Basidiomycetes are, for the most part, excluded from aquatic habitats. The greatest biodiversity for all groups occurs in temperate areas, followed by Asian tropical areas. This pattern may be an artifact of the location of most of the sampling effort. The least sampled geographic areas include Africa, Australia, China, South America and boreal and tropical regions worldwide. Some species overlap occurs among terrestrial and freshwater taxa but little species overlap occurs among freshwater and marine taxa. We predict that many species remain to be discovered in aquatic habitats given the few taxonomic specialists studying these fungi, the few substrate types studied intensively, and the vast geographical area not yet sampled.  相似文献

Seven species of the genus Cosmospora collected in Japan are reported in this article. Among them, Cosmospora japonica is described as a new species. Cosmospora henanensis, C. rishbethii, and C. triqua, all of which are known only from their type localities, are added to the Japanese mycobiota. The other species, C. chaetopsinaecatenulatae, C. diminuta, and C. peponum, are new records for Japan. Additional distribution records are given for Cosmospora species hitherto known in Japan.  相似文献

Zagros is a mountainous region in Western Asia, extending roughly along the western borders of Iran. Knowledge on aphyllophoroid fungi in the region is very scanty, and no survey has been made in the area. As part of an inventory of aphyllophoroids in selected protected areas in Zagros region, 32 species belonging to 6 orders, 11 families, and 25 genera are reported for the first time from Zagros. Botryobasidium robustius, Corticium endoxylon, C. erikssonii, C. lombardiae, C. meridioroseum, Eichleriella leucophaea, Phellinus rimosus, Phlebia bresadolae, and Sanghuangporus lonicerinus are newly reported from Iran. The nuclear ribosomal ITS barcode sequences are provided for 14 species (including five species sequenced for the first time), and 28S rDNA LSU sequences are given for three species. Most of the identified species belong to the orders Polyporales and Hymenochaetales.  相似文献

The cladistic analysis of the DNA sequences of the internal transcribed spacers of ribosomal cistrons (ITS1 and ITS2) for 20 species of Cicer L. (among which all the annuals), shows that various sections of the genus are not monophyletic. Annual species do not form a clade: C. arietinum, in fact, is closely related to both C. echinospermum and C. reticulatum, whereas C. bijugum, C. judaicum, and C. pinnatifidum form a separate clade. The annual C. cuneatum is sister group to the perennial C. canariense and both are archaic species within the genus. C. yamashitae is, on the contrary, the only annual species belonging to a group of perennials, within which close relationships are evident between C. graecum and C. montbretii as well as among a group of mainly Asian species.  相似文献

Two fungi collected from submerged woody debris were found to represent hitherto undescribed species of the ascomycete genera Clohiesia and Paraniesslia. They are described as Clohiesia curvispora sp. nov. and Paraniesslia aquatica sp. nov. based on morphological characters. Clohiesia curvispora is characterized by immersed ascomata under a clypeus, and unitunicate, cylindrical asci containing one-celled, curved, elongate-fusiform ascospores. Paraniesslia aquatica is characterized by small, superficial, setose ascomata, and unitunicate, clavate asci containing verrucose, brown ascospores. Each species is illustrated with light micrographs and compared with similar taxa in this article.  相似文献

Plants of the genus Caragana (Fabaceae) are dominant shrub species of high ecological and economic importance on the Ordos Plateau in China. Due to natural environmental variability and anthropogenic impacts, Caragana pastures have experienced severe degradation, which has decreased their carrying capacity. In this study, we investigated the genetic diversity of eight Caragana species (C. purdomii, C. opulens, C. stenophylla, C. intermedia, C. korshinskii, C. roborovskyi, C. tibetica and C. brachypoda) on the Ordos Plateau by using ISSR markers. The results reveal high genetic diversity of all the species, with the percentage of polymorphic bands (PPB) reaching 100%. However, interspecific differences in genetic diversity within the genus were significant, as indicated by higher levels of genetic diversity of C. stenophylla, C. tibetica, C. intermedia, C. korshinskii and C. roborovskyi (PPB > 86%) when compared to the C. brachypoda with the lowest genetic diversity (PPB = 42.86%). Caragana brachypoda showed the lowest genetic similarity with and largest genetic distance from other taxa of the genus. Caragana tibetica had higher genetic diversity than C. roborovskyi. A large genetic distance was found between C. roborovskyi and C. tibetica, although the two species belong to Ser. Tragacanthoides and grow in a semidesert area. Such differences in genetic structure may be the reason for large areas occupied by C. tibetica, whereas C. roborovsky has rather limited distribution in the semidesert area. Caragana intermedia had high genetic diversity and a large genetic differentiation between intraspecific populations implying strong adaptability of the species to environmental fluctuations and selection capabilities. There was an obvious gene flow between C. intermedia and C. korshinskii, suggesting possible hybridization between these species is consistent with ecological variability, which may be important characteristics of Caragana plants in terms of molecular variation in the ecotone of Ordos plateau. Our results provide a molecular basis for sustainable management, utilization and conservation of Caragana plants on the Ordos plateau.  相似文献

Background

Elucidation of the communal behavior of microbes in mixed species biofilms may have a major impact on understanding infectious diseases and for the therapeutics. Although, the structure and the properties of monospecies biofilms and their role in disease have been extensively studied during the last decade, the interactions within mixed biofilms consisting of bacteria and fungi such as Candida spp. have not been illustrated in depth. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the interspecies interactions of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and six different species of Candida comprising C. albicans, C. glabrata, C. krusei, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and C. dubliniensis in dual species biofilm development.  相似文献

A number of ophiostomatoid fungi were isolated from the spruce-infesting bark beetle, Ips perturbatus and its galleries collected from felled spruce trees and logs in northern BC and the Yukon Territory. Isolates were identified to species using morphological characteristics, nuclear ribosomal DNA and partial β-tubulin gene sequences. Thirteen morphological and phylogenetic species were identified among the isolates. Leptographium fruticetum, Leptographium abietinum, Ophiostoma bicolor, Ophiostoma manitobense, O. piceaperdum, and eight undescribed species of the genus Ophiostoma and the anamorph genera Leptographium, Hyalorhinocladiella, Ambrosiella and Graphium. A number of these species, i.e. L. fruticetum, Hyalorhinocladiella sp. 2, O. bicolor and O. manitobense, were isolated repeatedly from I. perturbatus, while others, i.e. Graphium sp. 1 and O. piceaperdum, seemed to be␣sporadic associates. Among all the isolates, L. fruticetum had the highest relative dominance in this survey. A high frequency of occurrence of this species with the beetle may indicate a specific relationship between the two partners.  相似文献
