Six photoproducts were observed in the photolysis of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) in the presence of chloride ions. The primary products were cis-[Ru(bpy)2Cl2] and cis-[Ru(bpy)2-(DMF)Cl]+. The remaining ruthenium products, which were thermally unstable to varying degrees, were cis-[Ru(bpy)2Cl2]+, [Ru(bpy)3]+, and a binuclear species we have tentatively identified as [Ru(bpy)2Cl]2n+ (n = 3 or 4).  相似文献

A series of benzothiazole-substituted trisbipyridine ruthenium(II) analogues {[Ru(bpy)2(4,5′-bbtb)]2+, [Ru(bpy)2(5,5′-bbtb)]2+ and [Ru(bpy)2(5-mbtb)]2+ [bpy is 2,2′-bipyridine, bbtb is bis(benzothiazol-2-yl)-2,2′-bipyridine, 5-mbtb is 5-(benzothiazol-2-yl),5′-methyl-2,2′-bipyridine]} have been prepared and compared with the complex [Ru(bpy)2(4,4′-bbtb)]2+ reported previously. From the UV–vis spectral studies, substitution at the 5-position of the bpy causes the ligand-centred transitions to occur at considerably lower energy than for those with the functionality at the 4-position, while at the same time causing the emission to be effectively quenched. However, substitution at the 4-position causes the metal-to-ligand charge transfer to occur at lower energies. Fluorescent intercalator displacement studies indicate that the doubly substituted complexes displace ethidium bromide from a range of oligonucleotides, with the greater preference shown for bulge and hairpin sequences by the Λ enantiomer. Since the complexes only show small variation in the UV–vis spectra on the introduction of calf thymus DNA and a small increase in fluorescence they do not appear to be intercalators, but appear to associate within one of the grooves. All of the reported bisbenzothiazole complexes show reasonable cytotoxicity against a range of human cancer cell lines. Redox‐active ruthenium complexes have been widely used in various fields; however, the harsh conditions required for their synthesis are not always conducive to their subsequent use in biological applications. In this study, we demonstrate the spontaneous formation of a derivative of tris(bipyridine)ruthenium at 37°C through the coordination of three bipyridyl ligands incorporated into a peptide to a ruthenium ion. Specifically, we synthesized six bipyridyl‐functionalized peptides with randomly chosen sequences. The six peptides bound to ruthenium ions and exhibited similar spectroscopic and electrochemical features to tris(bipyridine)ruthenium, indicating the formation of ruthenium complexes as we anticipated. The photo‐excited triplet state of the ruthenium complex formed in the peptides exhibited an approximately 1.6‐fold longer lifetime than that of tris(bipyridine)ruthenium. We also found that the photo‐excited state of the ruthenium complexes was able to transfer an electron to methyl viologen, indicating that the ruthenium complexes formed in the peptides had the same ability to transfer charge as tris(bipyridine)ruthenium. We believe that this strategy of producing ruthenium complexes in peptides under mild conditions will pave the way for developing new metallopeptides and metalloproteins containing functional metal‐complexes.  相似文献

Three ruthenium(II)–bipyridine complexes carrying a tyrosine moiety were synthesized and photophysical and electron transfer studies with quinones were carried out using absorption and emission spectral techniques. The binding efficiency of quinones with ruthenium(II)–bipyridine complexes was also studied using these techniques. The binding efficiency was moderate and similar for all complexes with all quinones. The quenching modes were also similar and efficient for all complexes with all quinones. The quenching processes were diffusion controlled. The rate of electron transfer was calculated using semiclassical theory. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Reduction of RuQ3 (1a, Q = 8-quinolinolato) with Zn/Hg in the presence of various π-acceptor ligands in ethanol affords RuQ2L2 (L2 = (dimethylsulfoxide)2 (2); (4-picoline)2 (3); N,N′-dimethyl-1,4-diazabuta-1,3-diene, dab (4); cyclooctadiene, COD (5); norborna-2,5-diene, nbd (6)). Compound 6 is isolated as an equimolar mixture of cis, trans (6a) and trans, cis (6b) isomers, which can be separated by column chromatography. DFT calculations have been performed on 6a and 6b. Oxidation of 3 and 6b affords the corresponding ruthenium(III) species 7 and 8, respectively. The structures of 2, 3, 4 and 6 have been determined by X-ray crystallography.  相似文献

The reactions of RuIIOEP(L)2 and RuIITPP(L)2 with carbon monoxide, where OEP and TPP are the dianions of octaethylporphyrin and tetraphenylporphyrin, respectively, are reported for various ligands (L=dimethyl formamide, acetonitrile, aniline and substituted benzonitriles). The first-order rate constants for the loss of XC6H4CN from RuII OEP(XC6H4CN)2 increase with increasing electron-withdrawing ability of X. The best Hammett σ/ϱ correlation is obtained when both σ+ and σvalues are employed. It is concluded that sigma donation from ligand-to-metal is the major mode of bonding in ruthenium-porphyrin-benzonitrile complexes.  相似文献

The kinetics of the reaction between tris(oxalato)cobaltate(III) ion and L-ascorbic acid were studied in aqueous solution over a range of copper(II) ion concentrations, ascorbic acid concentrations, pH values and temperatures. A rate law of the type rate = k[HA?][Cu2+][Co3+], where HA? = ascorbate, is suggested by the experimental results. A mechanism involving a copper-ascorbate complex is proposed.  相似文献

The development of both chemotherapeutic drug resistance as well as adverse side effects suggest that the current chemotherapeutic drugs remain ineffective in treating the various types of cancers. The development of new metallodrugs presenting anti-cancer activity is therefore needed. Ruthenium complexes have gained a great deal of interest due to their promising anti-tumour properties and reduced toxicity in vivo. This study highlighted the effective induction of cell death in a malignant melanoma cell by two novel bis-amino-phosphine ruthenium(II) complexes referred to as GA105 and GA113. The IC50 concentrations were determined for both the complexes, the ligand and cisplatin, for comparison. Both complexes GA105 and GA113 displayed a high anti-cancer selectivity profile as they exhibited low IC50 values of 6.72 µM and 8.76 µM respectively, with low toxicity towards a non-malignant human cell line. The IC50 values obtained for both complexes were lower than that of cisplatin. The new complexes were more effective compared to the free ligand, GA103 (IC50 = >20 µM). Morphological studies on treated cells induced apoptotic features, which with further studies could indicate an intrinsic cell death pathway. Additionally, flow cytometric analysis revealed that the mode of cell death of complex GA113 was apoptosis. The outcomes herein give further insight into the potential use of selected Ru(II) complexes as alternative chemotherapeutic drugs in the future.  相似文献

New ruthenium(II) complexes carrying methionine and phenylalanine in the bipyridine ligand, [Ru(bpy)2(4-Me-4′-(CONH-l-methionine methyl ester)-2,2′-bipyridine)](PF6)2 (IV) and [Ru(bpy)2(4-Me-4′-(CONH-l-phenylalanine ethyl ester)-2,2′-bpy)](PF6)2(V) have been synthesized and characterized and their photophysical properties studied. Flash photolysis measurements of complex IV, in the presence of an electron acceptor, methyl viologen (MV2+) show that an intermolecular electron transfer from the excited state of Ru(II) in complex IV, to MV2+ takes place, forming Ru(III) and the methyl viologen cation radical, MV+. The formation of MV+ in this system is confirmed using time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy. This intermolecular electron transfer is followed by intramolecular electron transfer from the thioether moiety (methionine) to the photogenerated Ru(III), regenerating Ru(II).  相似文献

The trihydrochloride salt of tris(2-aminoethyl)methane (tram·3HCl) was deprotonated in methanolic potassium hydroxide and reacted with three molar equivalents of imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde to give a new Schiff base ligand, HC(CH2CH2NCH-2ImH)3. The ligand, H3(1), was reacted in situ with iron(II)chloride tetrahydrate. Addition of excess sodium perchlorate resulted in the isolation of the dark red [FeH3(1)](ClO4)2·KClO4. The neutral emerald green iron(III) tripodal complex, Fe(1), was prepared by the aerial oxidation of the iron (II) complex on addition of three equivalents of potassium hydroxide. The complexes are characterized by EA, IR, ESI-MS, Mössbauer, magnetic susceptibility and single crystal XRD. The spectroscopic and structural data support a low spin assignment for both the iron(II) and iron(III) complexes at 295 K. The overall conformation of the tram backbone in these complexes has the apical carbon atom, Cap, pointed away from the iron atom with an average non-bonded distance of 3.83 Å. However, Cap is distorted from tetrahedral geometry toward trigonal monopyramidal. This is indicated by a narrowing of the H-Cap-C angles, an expansion of the C-Cap-C angles and a compression along the C-H axis so that Cap approaches the plane defined by its three carbon substituents. Two unusual supramolecular features are exhibited in [FeH3(1)](ClO4)2·KClO4. These are a polymeric [K(ClO4)32−]n anion and a bidentate hydrogen bonding donor, NimineCH-Cimidazole-NimidazoleH, on each arm of the tripodal ligand. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations using the B3LYP functional were performed on the low spin and high spin states of both complexes. B3LYP correctly predicts that the low spin state is favored in both systems and closely matches the important metrical parameters that are indicative of spin state. B3LYP shows that the Cap-out conformation of the tram backbone would be nearly identical in the low and high spin forms.  相似文献

Six complexes (1-6) with the type of [Ru(bpy)2L]X2 (1-3: L = L1-L3, X = Cl; 4-6: L = L1-L3, X = PF6) were synthesized based on 2,2′-bipyridine and three 2,2′-bipyridine derivatives L1, L2 and L3 (L1 = 5,5′-dibromo-2,2′-bipyridine, L2 = 5-bromo-5′-carbazolyl-2,2′-bipyridine, L3 = 5,5′-dicarbazolyl-2,2′-bipyridine). The complexes 1-6 were characterized by 1H NMR, MS(ESI) and IR spectra, along with the X-ray crystal structure analysis for 1, 5 and 6. Their photophysical properties and electrochemiluminescence (ECL) properties were investigated in detail. In the UV-Vis absorption spectra, all complexes 1-6 show strong intraligand (π → π) transitions and metal-ligand charge transfer (MLCT, dπ (Ru) → π) bands. Upon the excitation wavelengths at ∼508 nm, all complexes 1-6 exhibit typical MLCT emission of ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes. The introduction of carbazole moieties improves the MLCT absorption and emission intensity. The ruthenium(II) complexes 1-6 exhibit good electrochemiluminescence (ECL) properties in [Ru(bpy)2L]2+/tri-n-propylamine (TPrA) acetonitrile solution and the complexes with PF6 showed higher ECL emission intensity than that of the complexes with Cl based on the same ligands.  相似文献

Cation effects are studied on the excitation energy transfer reaction between anionic complexes, i.e., [Tb(dpa)3]3− (dpa=2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate) quenched by [Cr(ox)3]3− (ox=oxalate ion), [Cr(mal)3]3− (mal=malonate ion) and [Nd(dpa)3]3− in aqueous solutions in the presence of alkali metal ions added for adjustments of ionic strengths. In the quenching reaction of [Cr(ox)3]3−, magnitudes of quenching rate constants (kq) and energy transfer rate constant in encounter complex (k1) are changed by the cations in the order of Li+ < Na+ < K+ ≈ Rb+ ≈ Cs+, that is quite contrary of the cation effect on energy transfer reaction between [Ru(N-N)3]2+ and [Cr(ox)3]3−, reported in the previous paper. On the other hand, the rate constants in quenching reactions by [Cr(mal)3]3− and [Nd(dpa)3]3− remain almost constant. This result indicates that more separated donor-acceptor pair is not sensitive to coexisting cations.  相似文献

The reaction of [Ru(CO)2Cl2]n with bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (bpma) in refluxing ethanol followed by anion exchange yields two products: cis,fac-[Ru(bpma)(CO)2Cl]PF6 (1a, 71%) and trans,fac-[Ru(bpma)(CO)2Cl]PF6 (1b, 29%). Reaction of 1a with AgBF4 in acetone, followed by acetonitrile and then anion exchange gave cis,fac-[Ru(bpma)(CO)2(CH3CN)](PF6)2 (2a). In the same way, 1b afforded trans,fac-[Ru(bpma)(CO)2(CH3CN)](PF6)2 (2b). Reaction of depolymerized [Ru(CO)2Cl2]n with bpma in ethanol at room temperature afforded cis,cis-[Ru(η2-bpma)(CO)2Cl2] (3). In refluxing ethanol, 3 was converted to cis,fac-[Ru(bpma)(CO)2Cl]Cl (1a-Cl). Heating 3 in chlorobenzene afforded 1b-Cl, exclusively; heating 3 in ethylene glycol gave mainly 1a-Cl. Heating 1a-Cl in ethanol resulted in no isomerization, but heating in chlorobenzene gave a mixture of 3 and 1b-Cl. Anion exchange for PF6 with 1a-Cl and 1b-Cl afforded 1a and 1b, respectively, whereas anion exchange for BPh4 afforded 1a-BPh4. Compounds 1a, 1b, 2a and 3 have been structurally characterized.  相似文献

The excited state of ruthenium(II) tris(bipyrazine) (Ru(bipyz)32+*) is quenched by the sacrificial electron acceptors, S2O82− and Co(NH3)5Cl2+. Under acidic solutions (pH 0), Ru(bipyz)32+* is quenched by protons and therefore quite short-lived (τ = 50 ns). At pH 0, steady-state irradiation of the Ru(bipyz)32+ in the presence or absence of either S2O82− or Co(NH3)5Cl2+ did not produce any permanent products. In addition, no O2 evolution was observed when an O2 catalyst was added. At pH 6, Ru(bipyz)32+1 is much longer-lived (τ = 1.04 μs) and steady-state irradiation of a Ru(bipyz)32+ solution containing S2O82−, rather than Co(NH3)5Cl2+, did produce changes in absorbance, emission and pH, due to the oxidative degradation of the sensitiser. Microsecond flash photolysis work indicated that Ru(bipyz)32+* is oxidatively quenched by the S2O8 ions leading to the generation of Ru(bipyz)33+, a very strong and unstable oxidant. Steady-state irradiations carried out on the Ru(bipyz)32+/S2O8 photochemical system at pH 6, in the presence of an O2 catalyst, resulted in O2 generation (φ(O2) = 0.0025), however photodegradation of the Ru(bipyz)32+ sensitiser still took place, albeit at a reduced rate.  相似文献

Acenaphtheno[1,2-b]-1,4,8,9-tetraazatriphenylene (atatp) and its complexes [Ru(L)2atatp](ClO4)2 x nH2O (L = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), n=2 (1); 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), n=2 (2); and 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmp), n=1 (3)) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses and 1H NMR. The spectral and electrochemical properties of these complexes are also examined. Complexes 1 and 2 display bright luminescence in acetonitrile but very weak luminescence in water solution. However, complex 3 is not luminescent in either solvent. The interaction of the complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT-DNA) has been studied by absorption, emission and viscosity measurements. The intrinsic binding constants of complexes 1 and 2 are 7.6 x 10(4) and 8.8 x 10(4) M(-1) respectively. The relatively low affinities of complexes 1 and 2 with DNA may arise from the atatp ligand, indicating that the size and shape of the intercalated ligand have a marked effect on the strength of interaction. Complexes 1 and 2 bind with CT-DNA in an intercalative mode but complex 3 in a non-intercalative one, showing that changing the ancillary ligand affects not only the binding magnitude, but also the binding mode of the interaction.  相似文献

A series of mixed ligand Ru(II) complexes of 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (5,6-dmp) as primary ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy), pyridine (py) and NH3 as co-ligands have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis and 1H NMR and electronic absorption spectroscopy. The X-ray crystal structure of the complex [Ru(phen)2(bpy)]Cl2 reveals a distorted octahedral coordination geometry for the RuN6 coordination sphere. The DNA binding constants obtained from the absorption spectral titrations decrease in the order, tris(5,6-dmp)Ru(II) > bis(5,6-dmp)Ru(II) > mono(5,6-dmp)Ru(II), which is consistent with the trend in apparent emission enhancement of the complexes on binding to DNA. These observations reveal that the DNA binding affinity of the complexes depend upon the number of 5,6-dmp ligands and hence the hydrophobic interaction of 5,6-dimethyl groups on the DNA surface, which is critical in determining the DNA binding affinity and the solvent accessibility of the exciplex. Among the bis(5,6-dmp)Ru(II) complexes, those with monodentate py (4) or NH3 (5) co-ligands show DNA binding affinities slightly higher than the bpy and phen analogues. This reveals that they interact with DNA through the co-ligands while both the 5,6-dmp ligands interact with the exterior of the DNA surface. All these observations are supported by thermal denaturation and viscosity measurements. Two DNA binding modes - surface/electrostatic and strong hydrophobic/partial intercalative DNA interaction - are suggested for the mixed ligand complexes on the basis of time-resolved emission measurements. Interestingly, the 5,6-dmp ligands promote aggregation of the complexes on the DNA helix as a helical nanotemplate, as evidenced by induced CD signals in the UV region. The ionic strength variation experiments and competitive DNA binding studies on bis(5,6-dmp)Ru(II) complexes reveal that EthBr and the partially intercalated and kinetically inert [Ru(phen)2(dppz)]2+ (dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′-c]phenazine) complexes revert the CD signals induced by exciton coupling of the DNA-bound complexes with the free complexes in solution.  相似文献
