Previous proposals for subdivision of the genus Cornus are reviewed. Twenty-seven authenticated Cornus species have been studied for their content of non-flavonoid glucosides. Two distinct groups of taxa can be distinguished on this basis: one, containing a hydroxycyclohexadienone glucoside, along with salidroside, its reduced counterpart, and the second, characterized by containing various iridoid glucosides. The two types of glucosides are apparently mutually exclusive.  相似文献

Two new acylated styrylpyrones, one 5-methoxy-1(3H)-isobenzofuranone glucoside and a hydroxymethyl-orcinol derivative, along with sixteen known aromatic metabolites, including lignans, quinic acid derivatives low-molecular weight phenol glucosides, have been isolated from the methanol extract of Helichrysum italicum, a medicinal plant typical of the Mediterranean vegetation. The structures of these compounds have been elucidated on the basis of extensive 2D-NMR spectroscopic analyses, including COSY, TOCSY, HSQC, CIGAR-HMBC, H2BC and HSQC-TOCSY, along with Q-TOF HRMS2 analysis. Selected compounds were evaluated for their anti-biofilm properties against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.  相似文献

The content of glycosides in Kirengeshoma palmata and Jamesia americana (Hydrangeaceae) have been investigated. The former contains loganin and secoiridoids, including the alkaloid demethylalangiside. The latter contains no iridoids, but the known glucosides arbutin, picein and prunasin. In order to futher investigate the chemotaxonomy of the family Hydrangeaceae, the distribution of the iridoid and secoiridoid glucosides as well as the known biosynthetic pathways to these compounds have been reviewed. However, only a few genera of the family has been investigated. Loganin, secologanin, and derivatives of these are common. The genus Deutzia is characteristic in containing more structurally simple iridoids in which C-10 has been lost during biosynthesis. Such compounds have so far only been reported from the genus Mentzelia (Loasaceae). The taxonomic relationships between Hydrangeaceae and the closely related Cornaceae and Loasaceae is discussed and found to agree well with recent DNA sequence results.  相似文献

In addition to the known iridoid glucosides loganin, sweroside and cantleyoside, Dipsacus sylvestris has provided 4 novel bis-iridoid glucosides named sylvestrosides I–IV, composed of swerosidic acid, secologanic acid, loganin and loganin aglucone. Sylvestroside I, II and III have been fully characterized by chemical conversions and by 13C NMR spectroscopy. A probable formula for sylvestroside IV is presented.  相似文献

In this paper our previous chemical study of the anti-dengue active species Faramea bahiensis, Faramea hyacinthina and Faramea truncata (synonym of Faramea caudata) (Rubiaceae) is complemented by isolating from their stems, through a combination of silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and reversed-phase solid-phase extraction, the known iridoid glucosides monotropein (1), monotropein methyl ester (2) and 10-deacetylasperulosidic acid (3). The structures were established by HPLC-DAD-MS/MS analysis, NMR spectroscopy and comparison with literature data. This is the first report on the occurrence of these compounds in the genus Faramea Aubl. This work contributes to expand the knowledge of the chemical diversity of this botanical genus, of which a limited number of identified compounds have been reported.  相似文献

Aims

Dietary flavonoid intake shows a significant inverse association with mortality from coronary heart disease, incidence of myocardial infarction and stroke. Quercetin is one of the most common flavonoids in our diet and has several favorable biological activities. Quercetin glucosides, which are enzymatically trans-glycosylated isoquercitrin, have high water-solubility and bioavailability compared with quercetin. Here, we investigated the effects of quercetin glucosides on collateral development in a murine hindlimb ischemia model.

Main methods

We induced hindlimb ischemia in 24- to 32-week-old male C3H/HeJ mice by resecting the right femoral artery. Then, 0.5% carboxymethyl cellulose (control) or quercetin glucosides (100 mg/kg/day) were administered daily by gavage. Blood flow was monitored weekly by laser Doppler imaging.

Key findings

Recovery of blood flow to the ischemic leg was significantly enhanced by quercetin glucosides (blood flow ratio at 4 weeks: control, 0.57 ± 0.11; quercetin glucosides, 0.95 ± 0.10, p < 0.05). Furthermore, anti-CD31 immunostaining revealed that quercetin glucosides increased capillary density in the ischemic muscle (control, 200 ± 24/mm2; quercetin glucosides, 364 ± 41/mm2, p < 0.01). Quercetin glucosides did not promote tumor growth. The beneficial effect of quercetin glucosides was abrogated in eNOS-deficient mice.

Significance

These results suggest that quercetin glucosides may have therapeutic potential to promote angiogenesis in ischemic tissue.  相似文献

The relationships between the six known species of Rehmannia were investigated. With regard to the content of iridoid glucosides, caffeoyl phenylethanoid glycosides (CPGs) and ionone glucosides, no conclusions could be drawn. Phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequence data (ITS region, trnL-F region and rps16 intron) reveal a well-resolved topology in which Rehmannia glutinosa and Rehmannia solanifolia and Rehmannia piasezkii and Rehmannia elata are well-supported species pairs. Rehmannia chingii is sister to the rest of the genus, which is congruent with its distribution distant to the other species of the genus.  相似文献

(2S)-Phenyl[2-14C,3R-3H1]alanine and (2S)-phenyl[2-14C,3S-3H1]alanine have been employed as substrates to study procyanidin and flavan-3-ol biosynthesis. Parallel studies with the cyanogenic glucosides prunasin and sambunigrin, Winterstein's acid [(3R)-3-dimethylaminophenylpropionic acid] and tropic acid show these to be derived by stereospecific processes from (2S)-phenylalanine. The iridoid glucoside, ajugol, and the phenylethanoid glucoside, cornoside, have been isolated from species of Veronica (Plantaginaceae) for the first time. The presence of these compounds has been screened in 18 plant accessions belonging to 15 species of Veronica (Plantaginaceae), by isolation or NMR spectroscopy of crude extracts. In addition, the distribution of iridoids in the genus has been reviewed, using mainly the published data of isolated compounds. Using the recent expansion and reclassification of the genus based on DNA-sequence results as the model, we find that the genus is rather homogeneous with regard to the distribution of iridoid glucosides, aucubin and/or catalpol as well as 6-O-esters of catalpol being universally present in 10 of the 12 subgenera for which data exist. Only the two subgenera Pocilla and Chamaedrys deviate from this pattern. Pocilla is heterogeneous; in this subgenus, species in subsect. Agrestes contain the standard iridoid garniture, while species in subsect. Biloba do not contain the 6-O-esters of catalpol, but ajugol instead. Veronica intercedens (subsect. Subracemosae) differs from the remainder of the subgenus in only containing 5-hydroxylated iridoids (melittoside and globularifolin) and is so far the only species within the genus in which such compounds have been detected. These chemical differences are clearly reflected in the DNA-based phylogram of the subgenus. Subg. Chamaedrys appears homogeneous in lacking iridoids or only containing these in small amounts, but instead half of the investigated species contained the phenylethanoid glucoside cornoside. The distribution of this compound in angiosperms is reviewed; cornoside often substitutes iridoid glucosides in plants where these are expected to be present. The chemical results of Veronica fit in very well with the phylogenetic implications of the DNA-sequence results.  相似文献

From Calendula officinalis leaves three cellular subtractions (mitochondrial, Golgi membranes and microsomal) were obtained and enzymatically characterized. The contents of Δ0, Δ5, Δ7, Δ5, 22 sterols, as well as those of 24-methylenecholesterol and clerosterol, in the free and bound in the form of esters, glucosides and acylated glucosides were determined in these fractions. The results revealed the predominance of free sterols in the microsomal fraction, of esters in the mitochondrial fraction and of steryl glucosides and acylated glucosides in the Golgi fraction.  相似文献

Two new glucosides and two known ester glucosides have been isolated from Geum japonicum. The two new glucosides were isolated by formation of their acetates and were identified as glucosides of 2-isopropyl-5-methylhydroquinone by chemical and spectral studies. The two known ester glucosides were identified as niga-ichigoside F1 and suavissimoside F1 by direct comparison with authentic samples. 2α,19α-Dihydroxyursolic acid and the known glycoside, gein, were also isolated from the same plant, in addition to a mixture of 2α-hydroxyursolic acid and 2α-hydroxyoleanolic acid.  相似文献

From the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana, two new sweet glucosides, rebaudiosides A and B, were isolated besides the known glucosides, stevioside and steviolbioside. On the basis of IR, MS, 1H and 13C NMR as well as chemical evidences, the structure of rebaudioside B was assigned as 13-O-[β-glucosyl(1-2)-β-glucosyl(1-3)]-β-glucosyl-steviol and rebaudioside A was formulated as its β-glucosyl ester.  相似文献

Free sterols, sterol esters, sterol monoglucosides and sterol acylmonoglucosides have been obtained from 10 days old seedlings of Cucumis sativus. Free sterols and sterol esters consist mainly of Δ7 di- and triunsaturated sterols, whereas Δ7 mono-unsaturated and Δ5 mono- and diunsaturated sterols predominate in the glucosides and acylglucosides. Both acetates and derivatives of higher fatty acids, mainly linoleic and linolenic acids, have been found in the sterol esters. Sterol acylglucosides contain mostly saturated fatty acids, palmitic and stearic acids being the main components.  相似文献

In a continued chemosystematic investigation of the water-soluble compounds in Veronica sect. Hebe, we have investigated two more of the species formerly classified as Parahebe. Both species contained mannitol in considerable amounts and in addition some glucosides of iridoid acids. Veronica cheesemanii was characterised by aucubin and its esters: 2′-O-benzoylaucubin and an aucubin diester named cheesemanioside. The main iridoid compounds in Veronica hookeriana were catalpol and its ester verminoside, but this species also contained the sugar ester methyl 1-O-benzoyl-3-α-glucuronosylglycerol and a caffeoyl phenylethanoid glycoside (CPG) named parahebeoside, a 2′-O-β-xylopyranosyl derivative of the known plantamajoside. The results show that the studied species of the former genus Parahebe are very different with regard to their chemical content. This is in agreement with the DNA sequence data and implies the genus was polyphyletic as previously circumscribed.  相似文献

The structures of two new acylated apigenin glucosides are reported from the aerial parts of Anisomeles ovata. They were separated as their acetates and identified as apigenin 7-O-β-d-(2″,6″-di-O-p-coumaroyl)glucoside and apigenin 7-O-β-d-(4″,6′-di-O-p-coumaroyl)glucoside by 1H NMR study of the acetates and by chemical degradative methods. The allocation of the p-coumaroyl moieties is also supported by a study of the 13C NMR spectrum of the inseparable mixture of glucosides.  相似文献

Intact, in vitro-grown cotton fibers will incorporate [14C]glucose from externally supplied UDP[14C]glucose into a variety of cell wall components including cellulose; this labeled fraction will continue to increase up to 4 hours chase time. In the fraction soluble in hot water there was no significant change in total label; however, the largest fraction after the 30 minute pulse with UDP[14C]glucose was chloroform-methanol soluble (70%) and showed a significant decrease with chase. The lipids that make up about 85% of this fraction were identified by TLC as steryl glucosides, acylated steryl glucosides, and glucosyl-phosphoryl-polyprenol. Following the pulse, the loss of label from acylated steryl glucosides and glucosylphophoryl-polyprenol was almost complete within 2 hours of chase; steryl glucosides made up about 85% of the fraction at that chase time. The total loss in the lipid fraction (about 100 picomoles per milligram dry weight of fiber) with chase times of 4 hours approximates the total gain in the total glucans.  相似文献

Glucosylation of adenine and 6-methylaminopurine was not detected in derooted 10-day-old radish seedlings. However, 4-(purin-6-ylamino)butanoic amide and 6-(3,4-dimethoxybenzylamino)purine (N6-substituted adenines with negligible cytokinin activity), like the highly active cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine, were converted to 7-glucopyranosides. The N2-substituted guanine, 2-benzylaminopurin-6-one, and 6-benzylamino-2-(2-hydroxy-ethylamino)purine were also metabolized to glucosides which were probably 7-glucopyranosides. Hence glucosylation of purines is not restricted to N6-substituted adenines with strong cytokinin activity. Although only ca 1.6% of 6-benzylamino-9-(4-chlorobutyl)purine taken up by the derooted seedlings could be accounted for as 7- and 9-glucosides, a considerable proportion was metabolized to these glucosides in cotyledons excised from 2-day-old radish seedlings. The high cytokinin activity of this 9-substituted compound may be a consequence of cleavage of the 4-chlorobutyl groud at N-9.  相似文献

Catabolism of flavonol glucosides was investigated in plant cell suspension cultures using kaempferol 3-O-β-d-glucoside and kaempferol 7-O-β-d-glucoside labelled with 14C either in the glucose or in the flavonol moiety. Catabolic rates of glucosides were compared with those of free glucose and kaempferol. All substrates were degraded efficiently by cell cultures of mungbean, soybean, garbanzo bean and parsley. Based on 14CO2-formation, glucose from position 3 of kaempferol is 3–5 times more rapidly metabolized than that from position 7. The flavonol nucleus from both isomers is, however, oxidized to the same extent with a considerable portion of the flavonol being incorporated into insoluble polymeric cell material.  相似文献
