Long persistence phosphor CaAl4O7: Eu2+, Dy3+ were prepared by a combustion method. The phosphors were characterized by means of X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), decay time measurement techniques and photoluminescence spectra (PL). The CaAl4O7: Eu2+, Dy3+ phosphor showed a broad blue emission, peaking at 445 nm when excited at 341 nm. Such a blue emission can be attributed to the intrinsic 4f → 5d transitions of Eu2+ in the host lattices. The lifetime decay curve of the Dy3+ co‐doped CaAl4O7: Eu2+ phosphor contains a fast decay component and another slow decay one. Surface morphology also has been studied by SEM. The calculated CIE colour chromaticity coordinates was (0.227, 043). We have also discussed a possible long‐persistent mechanism of CaAl4O7:Eu2+, Dy3+ phosphor. All the results indicate that this phosphor has promising potential for practical applications in the field of long‐lasting phosphors for the purposes of sign boards and defence. We have synthesized and characterized a new BaCa2Al8O15:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor prepared by the combustion method. X‐ray diffraction, thermoluminescence, scanning electron microscope, time decay and optical spectral analysis photoluminescence excitation, emission spectra were used to characterize the phosphors. Broadband ultraviolet excited luminescence of the BaCa2Al8O15:Eu2+,Dy3+ was observed in the blue region (λmax = 435 nm) due to transitions from the 4f65d1 to the 4f7 configuration of the Eu2+ ion. Scanning electron microscopy has been used for exploring the morphological properties of the prepared phosphors. The BaCa2Al8O15:Eu2+ phosphor has a blue afterglow when Dy3+ ions were co‐doped. The thermoluminescence spectra show that the Dy3+ ion induces a proper trap in the phosphor with a depth of 0.67 eV and results in a long afterglow phosphorescence. Eu(2+), Dy(3+) and Tb(3+) co-doped strontium aluminate phosphor with high brightness and long afterglow was synthesized by a combustion method, using urea as a reducer. The properties of SrAl(2)O(4):Eu(2+),Dy(3+),Tb(3+) phosphor with a series of initiating combustion temperatures, urea concentrations and boric acid molar fractions were investigated. The sample at initiating combustion temperature of 600 degrees C exhibited an intense emission peak at 513 nm, in which the phosphor existed as a single-phase monoclinic structure. The experimental results showed that the optimum ratio of urea is 2.0 times higher than theoretical quantities and that the suitable molar fraction of H(3)BO(3) is 0.08. The average particle size of the phosphor was 50-80 nm and its luminescence properties were studied systematically. Compared with SrAl(2)O(4):Eu(2+),Dy(3+) phosphor, the initial luminescence brightness improved from 2.50 candela (cd)/m(2) to 3.55 cd/m(2) and the long afterglow time was prolonged from 1290 s to 2743 s. 相似文献

Rare‐earth ions play an important role in eco‐friendly solid‐state lighting for the lighting industry. In the present study we were interested in Eu3+ ion‐doped inorganic phosphors for near ultraviolet (UV) excited light‐emitting diode (LED) applications. Eu3+ ion‐activated SrYAl3O7 phosphors were prepared using a solution combustion route at 550°C. Photoluminescence characterization of SrYAl3O7:Eu3+ phosphors showed a 612 nm emission peak in the red region of the spectrum due to the 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu3+ ions under excitation at 395 nm in the near‐UV region and at the 466 nm blue excitation wavelength. These red and blue emissions are supported for white light generation for LED lighting. Structure, bonding between each element of the sample and morphology of the sample were analysed using X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which showed that the samples were crystallized in a well known structure. The phosphor was irradiated with a 60Co‐γ (gamma) source at a dose rate of 7.2 kGy/h. Thermoluminescence (TL) studies of these Eu3+‐doped SrYAl3O7 phosphors were performed using a Nucleonix TL 1009I TL reader. Trapping parameters of this phosphor such as activation energy (E), order of kinetics (b) and frequency factor (s) were calculated using Chen's peak shape method, the initial rise method and Ilich's method. 相似文献

In this paper, europium‐doped strontium aluminate (SrAl2O4:Eu2+) phosphors were synthesized using a combustion method with urea as a fuel at 600°C. The phase structure, particle size, surface morphology and elemental analysis were studied using X‐ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. The EDX and FTIR spectra confirm the elements present in the SrAl2O4:Eu2+ phosphor. The optical properties of SrAl2O4:Eu2+ phosphors were investigated by photoluminescence (PL) and mechanoluminescence (ML). The excitation and emission spectra showed a broad band with peaks at 337 and 515 nm, respectively. The ML intensities of SrAl2O4:Eu2+ phosphor increased proportionally with the increase in the height of the mechanical load, which suggests that this phosphor could be used in stress sensors. The CIE colour chromaticity diagram and ML spectra confirm that the SrAl2O4:Eu2+ phosphor emitted green coloured light. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Mechanoluminescence of Ba2MgSi2O7 doped with Eu2+ and Dy3+ phosphor by impulsive deformation 下载免费PDF全文
Di‐barium magnesium silicate phosphor doped with Eu2+ and Dy3+ was prepared using a solid‐state reaction technique under a reducing atmosphere. The sample underwent impulsive deformation by impact from a piston for mechanoluminescence (ML) investigations. The temporal ML characteristics of the phosphor were observed, which expressed a single sharp peak with a long decaying period. To investigate the luminescence centre responsible for the ML peak, the ML spectrum of the phosphor was also observed. The recorded ML spectrum was similar in shape and peak wavelength to the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum, which verifies the existence of a single emission centre due to the transition of Eu2+ ions, i.e. transitions from any of the sublevels of the 4f65d1 configuration to the 8S7/2 level of the 4f7 configuration. Decay rates for different impact velocities were also calculated using curve‐fitting techniques. The time of the ML peak and the rate of decay did not change significantly with respect to increasing impact velocity of the load and peak ML intensity varied linearly. The mechanism of the ML emission was also discussed. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Calcium aluminate phosphors activated by Dy3+ have been prepared by a combustion method at a temperature of 600°C. Photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) properties of gamma‐irradiated Dy‐doped calcium aluminate were investigated. The PL spectrum shows a broad peak around 488 nm and 573 nm, under 347 nm excitation. Thermoluminescence studies were performed for different concentrations of Dy. Optimum intensity of photoluminescence was found for 0.02 mol% concentration of Dy. It was found that initially the peak TL intensity increases with increasing concentration of Dy in the CaAl2O4 host, attains a maximum value for 0.05 mol% concentration and decreases with further increase in the doping concentration due to concentration quenching. Red‐emitting Mg4Nb2O9:Eu3+ phosphor is synthesized via a solid‐state reaction method in air, and its crystal structure and luminescence are investigated. The phosphor can be excited efficiently by ~ 395 nm light, coupled well with a ~ 395 nm near‐ultraviolet chip and emits red light at ~ 613 nm with sharp spectra due to 5D0 → 7 F2 transition of the Eu3+ ion. Mg4Nb2O9:Eu3+ phosphor sintered at 1350 ºC shows Commission international de I'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of x = 0.6354, y = 0.3592, and is a potential red‐emitting phosphor candidate for white light‐emitting diodes (W‐LEDs) under ~ 395 nm near‐ultraviolet LED chip excitation. BaGd2‐xO4:xEu3+ and Ba1‐yGd1.79‐2yEu0.21Na3yO4 phosphors were synthesized at 1300°C in air by conventional solid‐state reaction method. Phosphors were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra, photoluminescence (PL) spectra and thermoluminescence (TL) spectra. Optimal PL intensity for BaGd2‐xO4:xEu3+ and Ba1‐yGd1.79‐2yEu0.21Na3yO4 phosphors at 276 nm excitation were found to be x = 0.24 and y = 0.125, respectively. The PL intensity of Eu3+ emission could only be enhanced by 1.3 times with incorporation of Na+ into the BaGd2O4 host. Enhanced luminescence was attributed to the flux effect of Na+ ions. However, when BaGd2O4:Eu3+ phosphors were codoped with Na+ ions, the induced defects confirmed by TL spectra impaired the emission intensity of Eu3+ ions. In this paper, we have reported the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the Ba2Mg(PO4)2:Eu3+ phosphor synthesized using a wet chemical method. The preliminary scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation of the sample revealed irregular surface morphology with particle sizes in the 10–50 μm range. The strongest PL excitation peak was observed at 396 nm. The emission spectra indicated that this phosphor can be effectively excited by the 396 nm wavelength. Upon 396 nm excitation, the emission spectrum showed characteristics peaks located at 592 nm and 615 nm. These intense orange‐red emission peaks were obtained due to f→f transitions of Eu3+ ions. The emission peak at 592 nm is referred to as the magnetic dipole 5D0→7F1 transition and the emission peak at 615 nm corresponded to the electric dipole 5D0→7F2 transition of Eu3+. The Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the Ba2Mg(PO4)2:Eu3+ phosphor were found to be (0.586, 0.412) for wavelength 592 nm and (0.680, 0.319) for wavelength 615 nm situated at the edge of the CIE diagram, indicating high colour purity of phosphors. Due to the high emission intensity and a good excitation profile, Eu3+‐doped Ba2Mg(PO4)2 phosphor may be a promising orange‐red phosphor candidate for solid‐state lighting applications. 相似文献

Photoluminescence and thermoluminescence properties of Eu2+ doped and Eu2+,Dy3+ co‐doped Ba2MgSi2O7 phosphors 下载免费PDF全文
In this work, we report the preparation, characterization, comparison and luminescence mechanisms of Eu2+‐doped and Eu2+,Dy3+‐co‐doped Ba2MgSi2O7 (BMSO) phosphors. Prepared phosphors were synthesized via a high temperature solid‐state reaction method. All prepared phosphors appeared white. The phase structure, particle size, and elemental analysis were analyzed using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy‐dispersive X‐ray (EDX) analysis. The luminescence properties of the phosphors were investigated by thermoluminescence (TL) and photoluminescence (PL). The PL excitation and emission spectra of Ba2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ showed the peak to be around 381 nm and 490 nm respectively. The PL excitation spectrum of Ba2MgSi2O7:Eu2+Dy3+ showed the peak to be around 341 nm and 388 nm, and the emission spectrum had a broad band around 488 nm. These emissions originated from the 4f6 5d1 to 4f7 transition of Eu2+. TL analysis revealed that the maximum TL intensity was found at 5 mol% of Eu2+ doping in Ba2MgSi2O7 phosphors after 15 min of ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. TL intensity was increased when Dy3+ ions were co‐doped in Ba2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ and maximum TL intensity was observed for 2 mol% of Dy3+. TL emission spectra of Ba1.95MgSi2O7:0.05Eu2+ and Ba1.93MgSi2O7:0.05Eu2+,0.02Dy3+ phosphors were found at 500 nm. TL intensity increased with UV exposure time up to 15 min, then decreased for the higher UV radiation dose for both Eu doping and Eu,Dy co‐doping. The trap depths were calculated to be 0.54 eV for Ba1.95MgSi2O7:0.05Eu2+ and 0.54 eV and 0.75 eV for Ba1.93MgSi2O7:0.05Eu2+,0.02Dy3+ phosphors. It was observed that co‐doping with small amounts of Dy3+ enhanced the thermoluminescence properties of Ba2MgSi2O7 phosphor. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Effect of cooling rate on the microstructure and luminescence properties of Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ materials 下载免费PDF全文
Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ long afterglow materials were prepared by a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction method with different cooling rates. The cooling rate had a slight effect on X‐ray diffraction patterns and photoluminescence performance, but significantly modified the grain boundaries and long afterglow properties of the Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ materials. When the cooling rate was 1°C/min, grains remained intact with clear grain boundaries. As the cooling rate increased from 1°C/min to 5°C/min, some grain boundaries became indistinguishable. The afterglow properties were optimized, presenting best performance at the cooling rate of 3°C/min. The trap state was investigated and illustrated through thermoluminescence curves. The depths of the traps of all the samples were unchanged, whereas densities changed to a large extent, leading to different afterglow properties. The retrapping process is discussed based on the afterglow curves. 相似文献

The new borate phosphor CaB2O4:Eu3+ was synthesized by solid‐state method and their photoluminescence properties were investigated. The results show that the pure phase of CaB2O4 could be available at 900°C, CaB2O4:Eu3+ phosphor could be effectively excited by the near ultraviolet light (NUV) (392 nm), and the luminescent intensity of CaB2O4:Eu3+ phosphor reached to the highest when the doped‐Eu3+ content was 4 mol%. The emission spectra of CaB2O4:Eu3+ phosphor could exhibit red emission at 612 nm and orange emission at 588 nm, which are ascribed to the 5D0–7F2 and 5D0–7F1 transitions of Eu3+ ions. Synthesis and luminescence characterization of Y2BaZnO5:RE (RE = Eu3+, Tb3+, Pr3+ and Sm3+) phosphors 下载免费PDF全文
Modified synthesis and luminescence of Y2BaZnO5 phosphors activated with the rare earths (RE) Eu3+, Tb3+, Pr3+ and Sm3+ are reported. RE2BaZnO5 phosphors have attracted attention because of their interesting magnetic and optical properties; and are usually prepared using a two‐step solid‐state reaction. In the first step, carbonates or similar precursors are thoroughly mixed and heated at 900°C to decompose them to oxides. To eliminate the unwanted phases like BaRE2O4, the resulting powders are reheated at 1100°C for a long time. We prepared Y2BaZnO5 phosphors activated with various activators by replacing the first step with combustion synthesis. The photoluminescence results are presented. The photoluminescence results for Eu3+, Tb3+ and Pr3+ are in good agreement with the literature. However, photoluminescence emission from Sm3+ has not been documented previously. The excitation spectrum of Eu3+ is dominated by a charge transfer band around 261 nm, and an additional band around 238 nm is always present, irrespective of the type of activator. The presence of this band for all these different types of activators was interpreted as host absorption. 相似文献

A novel blue‐emitting phosphor of Eu2+‐activated NaMgPO4 was prepared by combustion‐assisted synthesis. Sodium dihydrogen phosphate and magnesium nitrate were used as the source of Na, P and Mg, respectively. The ratios of magnesium and phosphorus components that were dissolved into the combustion solution were changed from 1:1 to 1:1.3. Their effect on the crystallinities and photoluminescence spectra of the phosphor particles were investigated. The post‐heated phosphor particles had a broad excitation wavelength that ranged from 240 to 410 nm. The phosphor particles prepared from the combustion solution with a 1:1.2 ratio of magnesium to phosphorus had maximum emission intensity under ultraviolet excitation. The effect of doped Eu2+ concentration on the emission intensity of NaMgPO4:Eu2+ was also investigated. 相似文献

Enhancement of the photoluminescence and long afterglow properties of Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor by Dy3+ co‐doping 下载免费PDF全文
Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ and Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ long afterglow phosphors were synthesized under a weak reducing atmosphere by the traditional high temperature solid state reaction method. The synthesized phosphors were characterized by powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), and photo‐, thermo‐ and mechanoluminescence spectroscopic techniques. The phase structure of the sintered phosphor was an akermanite type structure, which belongs to tetragonal crystallography. The thermoluminescence properties of these phosphors were investigated and compared. Under ultraviolet light excitation, the emission spectra of both prepared phosphors were composed of a broad emission band peaking at 470 nm. When the Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor was co‐doped with Dy3+, the photoluminescence (PL), afterglow and mechanoluminescence (ML) intensity were strongly enhanced. The decay graph indicated that both the sintered phosphors contained fast decay and slow decay processes. The ML intensities of Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ and Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphors were increased proportionally with increasing impact velocity, a finding that suggests that these phosphors could be used as sensors to detect the stress of an object. Effect of Dy3+ or Eu2+ co‐activator on a BaCa(SO4)2:Ce3+ mixed alkaline earth sulfate phosphor 下载免费PDF全文
The individual emission and energy transfer between Ce3+ and Eu2+ or Dy3+ in BaCa(SO4)2 mixed alkaline earth sulfate phosphor prepared using a co‐precipitation method is described. The phosphor was characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) studies and doped by Ce;Eu and Dy rare earths. All phosphors showed excellent blue–orange emission on excitation with UV light. PL measurements reveal that the emission intensity of Eu2+ or Dy3+ dopants is greater than when they are co‐doped with Ce3+. An efficient Ce3+ → Eu2+ [2T2g(4f65d) → 8S7/2(4f7)] and Ce3+ → Dy3+ (4 F9/2 → 6H15/2 and 4 F9/2 → 6H13/2) energy transfer takes place in the BaCa(SO4)2 host. A strong blue emission peak was observed at 462 nm for Eu2+ ions and an orange emission peak at 574 nm for Dy3+ ions. Hence, this phosphor may be used as a lamp phosphor. Photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) properties of rare earth (RE) ion (RE = Dy3+, Sm3+, Ce3+, Tb3+) activated microcrystalline BaMgP2O7 phosphors are presented in this work. Non‐doped and doped samples of BaMgP2O7 were prepared using a solid state diffusion method and characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), PL and TL. The XRD measurement confirmed the phase purity of the BaMgP2O7 host matrix. The average particle size was found through SEM measurement to be around 2 μm. All activators using the PL technique displayed characteristic excitation and emission spectra that corresponded to their typical f → f and f → d transitions respectively. Thermoluminescence measurements showed that BaMgP2O7:RE (RE = Dy3+, Sm3+, Tb3+, Ce3+) and co‐doped BaMgP2O7:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors have also TL behaviour. 相似文献

Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor was prepared by the solid‐state reaction method under a weak reducing atmosphere. The obtained phosphor was characterized using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) techniques. The phase structure of the Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor was akermanite type, which is a member of the melilite group. The surface morphology of the sintered phosphor was not uniform and phosphors aggregated tightly. EDX and FT‐IR spectra confirm the elements present in the Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor. Under UV excitation, a broadband emission spectrum was found. The emission spectra observed in the green region centered at 535 nm, which is due to the 4f–5d transition. The mechanoluminescence (ML) intensity of the prepared phosphor increased linearly with increases in the mechanical load. The ML spectra were similar to the photoluminescence (PL), which indicates that ML is emitted from the same emitting center of Eu2+ ions as PL. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

A new bluish‐white long‐lasting phosphorescent material, Hf4+‐doped b‐Zn3(PO4)2, was prepared by the conventional high‐temperature solid‐state method. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum reveals that it exhibits a strong blue emission band centred at 470 nm, with asymmetry on the long wavelength side; this material emits bluish‐white light and shows strong afterglow phosphorescence after it is excited with a 254 nm UV lamp. The phosphorescence lasts nearly 40 min in the light perception of the dark‐adapted human eye (0.32 mcd/m2). The possible phosphorescence mechanism is also analysed.
