To produce an inventory of the Ecitoninae ants from Morelos State (south central Mexico), we used direct capture and pit-fall traps. Occasionally, males were also collected near artificial light sources. Fifteen species were found: Labidus coecus, L. praedator s. str, Neivamyrmex agilis, N. cornutus, N fallax, N. graciellae, N. impudens, N. macropterus, N. melanocephalus, N. nigrescens, N. opacithorax, N. pauxilus, N. sumichrasti, N. swainsoni and Nomamyrmex esenbecki mordax. Twelve of these species are new records for the state. The most abundant species were L. coecus, N. melanocephalus, N. nigrescens and N. esenbecki mordax. The distribution of the species in the state, flight dates of males for some species, and a key for the identification of workers and males are included. One additional species (N. fuscipennis), collected by other authors in Morelos but not by us, is also included in the key.  相似文献

Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) belenensis n. sp. is described using light and scanning electron microcopy, based on specimens taken from Ageneiosus ucayalensis, Castelnau, 1855 (Pisces: Siluriforme), a freshwater fish commonly called mandubé, in Pard State, Brazil; Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) rarus is recorded from the same host. To our knowledge there are no previous reports of nematodes from this fish species. Procamallanus (S.) belenensis is characterized by the presence of 8-13 cuticular spiral thickenings coating 2/3 of posterior region of the buccal capsule of males and females (the anterior third is smooth); small sub-equal spicules; 3 and 4-5 pairs of pre- and post-cloacal papillae, respectively; the proportion of muscular and glandular esophagus is 1:1.5-2; males present 2 spike-like projections at the tail tip, which are absent in females by light microscopy. The most closely related species are Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) inopinatus and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) pintoi. The new species differs from the most closely related species by the presence of 8-10 cuticular spiral thickenings in the buccal capsule of males and 9-13 in the females, 8 pairs of male clocal papillae (3 pre- and 5 post-cloacal, respectively), and only males bearing 2 minute, spike-like projections at the posterior end.  相似文献

Two new species of Tereancistrum Kritsky, Thatcher & Kayton, 1980 are described from the gills of Prochilodus lineatus (Prochilodontidae) collected from the upper Paraná River floodplain, Brazil. T. toksonum n. sp. is characterised by a slim ventral bar with a sclerotised membrane along the anterior margin. Another characteristic is the dorsal anchor with an elongated deep root. T. curimba n. sp. is similar to T. ornatus Kritsky, Thatcher & Kayton, 1980 but possesses a sclerotised structure between the accessory sclerites of the ventral anchors. Moreover, the accessory anchor sclerites of this new species are longer than those described for T. ornatus.  相似文献

Pharyngodon medinae García-Calvente, 1948 (Nematoda: Pharyngodonidae) is redescribed from Podarcis pityusensis (Bosca, 1883) (Sauria: Lacertidae) of the Balearic Islands (Spain) and confirmed as a member of the genus Skrjabinodon Inglis, 1968. A systematic review of S. medinae and closely related species is also given. Parathelandros canariensis is referred to Skrjabinodon as a new combination and Parathelandros Magzoub et al., 1980 is dismissed as a junior homonym of Parathelandros Baylis, 1930.  相似文献

Clestobothrium neglectum (Lönnberg, 1893) n. comb. is redescribed from specimens previously deposited in The Natural History Museum, London, UK by Dr David I. Gibson obtained from the intestine of the tadpole fish Raniceps raninus (Gadidae) collected from off the western coast of Sweden, near Kristineberg. C. neglectum resembles C. crassiceps (Rudolphi, 1819), the type- and only species currently recognised in the genus, but differs in having fine spiniform-like structures that are likely microtriches covering the posterior fourth of the scolex and all proglottids, a highly folded tegument forming numerous longitudinal ridges on both the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the proglottids giving them a scalloped appearance, a somewhat smaller egg (68 × 35 vs 75 × 40 μm), a U-shaped rather than H-shaped ovary and more testes (70–85 vs 40–50 per proglottid). C. neglectum is also compared to two species with similar scoleces that were previously assigned to Clestobothrium, Bothriocephalus acheilognathi Yamaguti, 1934 and B. kivuensis Baer &; Fain, 1958 (considered to be synonymous with B. acheilognathi by Pool, 1987). This is the first report of a species of Clestobothrium Lühe, 1899 (Bothriocephalidae) from a gadid fish.  相似文献

Taking part of the Program for The Inventory of Flora and Fauna of Coiba Island National Park (Panama), a first list of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatei) is presented. Materials studied come from several soil samplings, including humus and fallen leaves, done in Coiba Island in July 1998. 134 species were identified from a total amount of 1053 individuals collected. Almost all the identified species are new records for Panama as well as eigth species that represent first records for the Neotropical Region. A new name is given: Aeroppia mariehammerae n. nom. for Aeroppia sp. and a new combination is proposed: Protoribates antillensis (Mahunka, 1985) n. comb. (Xylobates).  相似文献

The quality of the ornamental plants is closely related to their phytosanitary state, that, in turn, is affected by the activity of some insect groups. Aphids are common pests of nearly all kinds of plants, ornamental plants among them. The fauna associated with aphids that colonize ornamental plants includes honey ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) that establish mutualistic relations, and some parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Aphidiinae) that contribute to the control of the aphid population. Very little is known about the aphids and their associated fauna living on ornamental plants of Cordoba, Argentina. The goal of this work was to identify the aphids that colonize ornamental plants, as well as their associated honey ants and parasitoids. Samples of sprouts, leaves and/or flowers of aphid-colonized ornamental plants of the Jardín Botánico Municipal of Cordoba city were collected weekly, from October 2003 to November 2004. Whenever found, the associated honey ants and "mummies" of aphids attacked by parasitoids were also collected. One hundred and thirty two aphid-plant associations were registered, 64.4% of which were unknown in the country. In 33.3% of these associations, the aphids were tended by honey ants whereas the presence of aphid parasitoids was registered in 16.7%. Ninety five species of ornamental plants were colonized by 41 aphid species, whereas six ant species tended 10 aphid species. Aphid parasitoids were represented by four species related to 11 aphid species.  相似文献

Aquatic habitats in the Republic of Panamá were examined for freshwater sponges during 21 Feb. to 6 March 1986. Eunapius carteri, Trochospongilla leidyi, and Trochospongilla horrida were found in the northern canal area. This is the first report of E. carteri and T. horrida from Central America, and the first record of E. carteri from the Western Hemisphere. Taxonomic characters used to distinguish T. leidyi and T. horrida from similar South American species are discussed.  相似文献

Parasitological examination of bearded false chameleons Chamaeleolis barbatus freshly imported from Cuba revealed the presence of 2 species of coccidia that are described as new. Oocysts of Isospora chamaeleolidis n. sp. are spherical to slightly subspherical, 16.1 (13-21) x 15.6 (13-19) microm, with a brownish and bilayered wall approximately 1.0-1.5 microm thick; outer layer markedly pitted. 0.75-1.0 microm thick. One, rarely 2, globular polar granules, 1.5 in diameter are present in the sporulated oocysts. Sporocysts are ellipsoidal, 10.8 (10-13) x 7.8 (7-9) microm, with a smooth, colorless, and unilayered sporocyst wall. Stieda body and substieda bodies are present. A sporocyst residuum is present, consisting of small granules of irregular size scattered among the sporozoites. Oocysts of Eimeria chamaeleolidisbarbati n. sp. are broadly oval, 19.0 (17-21) x 15.7 (15-17) microm, with a bilayered, colorless oocyst wall approximately 0.75 thick; outer layer of oocyst wall is smooth, 0.5 microm thick. One or 2, rarely 4, globular, irregular polar granules, approximately 1.5 microm in diameter, are present in sporulated oocysts. Sporocysts are broadly oval, 7.4 (7-8.5) x 6.1 (5.5-7) microm, with a smooth, colorless, and unilayered sporocyst wall, composed of 2 valves joined by suture; Stieda body and substieda bodies are absent.  相似文献

The present study describes a new species of myxosporean, Auerbachia ignobili n. sp., infecting the hepatic bile ducts of Caranx ignobilis (Forsskål, 1775). Myxospores are club-shaped with a broad anterior region and a narrow, slightly curved and blunt caudal extension, measuring 17.4 ± 1.5 μm in length and 7.5 ± 7.4 μm in width. Shell valves asymmetrical, with a faint suture line, and enclosed a single, elongate-elliptical polar capsule with a ribbon-like polar filament, arranged in 5–6 coils. Developmental stages included early and late presporogonic stages, pansporoblast, and sporogonic stages with monosporic and disporic plasmodia. A. ignobili n. sp. differs from the other described species of Auerbachia in the shape and dimensions of the myxospores and polar capsules. The molecular analysis generated ∼1400 bp long SSU rDNA sequences and the present species exhibited a maximum similarity 94.04–94.91% with A. chakravartyi. Genetic distance analysis indicated the lowest interspecies divergence of 4.4% with A. chakravartyi. In phylogenetic analysis, A. ignobili n. sp. was positioned independently with a high bootstrap value (1/100) and appeared as sister to A. maamouni and A. chakravartyi. Fluorescent in situ hybridization and histology indicates that the parasite develops within the hepatic bile ducts. Histological studies did not reveal any pathological changes. Considering the morphological, morphometric, molecular, and phylogenetic differences coupled with the differences in host and geographic locations, the present myxosporean is treated as a new species and named A. ignobili n. sp.  相似文献

The structure and stability of parasite communities have been mainly explained by high diversity and strong interactions among parasite species. During 16 months, 558 Barbus martorelli gill infracommunities were studied in a tropical zone to determine whether parasite infrapopulations interact. Three levels were retained: the infracommunity level, the gill filament level, and the filament fraction level. Single species infections in Barbus martorelli were very rare and only concerned the core species: Dactylogyrus bopeleti, D. insolitus, D. simplex and Myxobolus barbi. Mixed infections appeared as a general rule in this fish species. Interspecific interactions at all three levels were statistically non significant. Our results suggest that Barbus martorelli gill parasites are non interactive (isolationist).  相似文献

Two new species of Chrysomelobia Regenfuss, 1968, C. alleni n. sp. and C. intrusus n. sp., are described from Tasmanian specimens of the eucalyptus leaf beetle Paropsis charybdis Stål. This beetle is now known to host three species of Chrysomelobia, the other being Chrysomelobia pagurus Seeman, 2008, which is recorded from Tasmania for the first time. Thus, the three species of Paropsis Olivier known to have podapolipid mites each have three mite species from three separate lineages of Chrysomelobia. Collections of P. charybdis in New Zealand (n = 150), where it is an invasive pest species, failed to locate any infested beetles, suggesting that these populations were established by uninfested beetles. The prospect of using these mites as biocontrol agents is discussed.  相似文献

Heterodera longicolla n. sp., a member of the H. goettingiana group, is described and illustrated from roots of buffalo-grass, Buchloë dactyloides (Nutt.) Engelm., in Manhattan, Kansas. This new abullate species, having second-stage larvae with only three lines in the lateral field, is most closely related to H. cyperi Golden, Rau & Cobb, 1962, but differs particularly in having a shorter stylet in larvae, males and females; in possessing only three annules on the head of larvae and males; in having a shorter tail in larvae; and by the presence on cysts of a small anus without a circum-anal pattern.  相似文献
