Neue phloroglucin-derivate aus Leontonyx-arten sowie weitere verbindungen aus vertretern der tribus inuleae

The investigation of several South African species of the tribe Inuleae afforded in addition to known compounds 16 new constituents. From Leontonyx a group of 9 new phloroglucinol derivatives, from Stoebe species two new p-hydroxyacetophenone, two thymol and two coumaric acid derivatives and from Relhania a new euparine-derivative were isolated. The structures are elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods. The chemotaxonomic aspects are discussed briefly. The phloroglucinol derivatives, which in part are derived from geraniol, seem to be especially characteristic.     

Eudesmane derivatives from Verbesina species

The investigation of seven Verbesina species afforded, in addition to known compounds, several new eudesmane and germacrane derivatives, all bearing a cinnamate or derivatives as residue. Furthermore, a new bisabolene aldehyde and two acetophenone derivatives were isolated. The structures were elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic situation is discussed briefly.     

Neue sesquiterpene,triterpene, flavanone und andere aromatische verbindungen aus Flourensia heterolepis

The investigation of a further Flourensia species afforded in addition to already known compounds 12 new sesquiterpene acids isolated as their methyl esters, a new eudesmane diol, four lupane derivatives and two flavanones, two cinnamic acid derivatives, also isolated as methyl esters and a ketone. The structures are elucidated mainly by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. Several of the compounds isolated are more or less similar to those isolated from other Flourensia species; the considerable amounts of eudesmanes, however, are unusual. The overall picture of the genus is still relatively uniform. Close relationships to Helianthella are obvious, while to Helianthus, placed in the same subtribe, no clear relations are visible.     

Neue phloroglucin-derivate aus Helichrysum natalitium und Helichrysum bellum

Helichrysum natalitium afforded four new phloroglucinol derivatives, while from H. bellum two further compounds of this type have been isolated; H. platypterum yielded two known derivatives. The new structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomical situation is briefly discussed.     

Neue germacren-derivate aus Senecio-arten

From the succulent Senecio species, S. cylindricus, eight new germacrene derivatives were isolated, while S. erosus afforded two new furanoeremophilones. Six further species only contain known compounds. The chemotaxonomic importance of these findings are briefly discussed.     

New labdane diterpenoids from Sideritis chamaedryfolia

From the aerial parts of Sideritis chamaedryfolia six previously known ent-kaurene diterpenoids have been isolated. In addition, seven new labdane derivatives have also been obtained from the same source. The structures of these new natural diterpenoids have been established by chemical spectroscopic means and by correlation with known products.     

Ein neues diterpen und weitere inhaltsstoffe aus Baccharis-arten

The investigation of nine further Baccharis species afforded in addition to known compounds three new p-coumaric acid derivatives, a new eudesmane aldehyde and a clerodane dilactone. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The chemotaxonomic situation in this genus is still not very clear. The compounds isolated are not very characteristic, as very similar ones are present in other genera of the tribe to which Baccharis belongs.     

Heliangolides,and nerolidol and p-hydroxyacetophenone derivatives from Calea species

A new Calea species afforded a heliangolide, closely related to niveusin C, while from Calea teucrifolia two new nerolidol derivatives and eight p-hydroxyacetophenone derivatives were isolated. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and a few chemical transformations. The spectral data of 8β-angeloylatripliciolide, the main constituent of C. teucrifolia, are also included. The chemotaxonomic situation is discussed briefly.     

Neue labdan-derivate aus Aristeguietia buddleaefolia

The aerial parts of Aristeguietia buddleaefolia afforded, in addition to known compounds, three new diterpenes, all being 12, 13-E-abienol derivatives. A further diterpene turned out to be jhanidiol-18-O-acetate, isolated earlier from an Ageratina species. Furthermore two derivatives of hydroxy dihydroconiferyl alcohol are present. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations.     

Neue acetylenverbindungen aus chrysothamnus parryl

The investigation of Chrysothamnus parryi afforded, in addition to known compounds, several new matricaria ester derivatives. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. Furthermore, a naphthol derivative was isolated. Chemotaxonomic aspects are discussed briefly.     

A new type of germacranolide from Vernonia species

From several South African Vernonia species, a considerable number of sesquiterpene lactones has been isolated. Together with known compounds, seven members of a new type with an enol lactone ring have been found, their structures being elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. Furthermore two new derivatives of costunolide are present in two species, and three new guaianolides have been found. From some species, however, no lactones could be isolated. Together with a new bisabolene derivative, a known eremophilone has been isolated, probably for the first time, from a member of the tribe Vernonieae.     

Neue pyron-derivate aus Helichrysum-arten

The investigation of five further Helichrysum species afforded in addition to known compounds nine α-pyrone derivatives all also being phloroglucinol derivatives. Furthermore, a new toxol derivative has been isolated. The structures were elucidated by extensive NMR studies and by some chemical transformations. The chemotaxonomic situation is discussed briefly.     

Coumarin-hemiterpene ethers from Artemisia species

In addition to a known derivative, five new coumarin-hemiterpene ethers were isolated from the leaves of Artemisia laciniata, A. armeniaca and A. tanacetifolia and identified by ¹H NMR and, in part, by ¹³C NMR spectroscopy. The coumarin patterns are characterized particularly by compounds with a hydroxylated and saturated isoprenoid unit attached to oxygen at the C-8 position and by 5,7,8-trioxygenated derivatives. The chemotaxonomic significance of the coumarin-terpenoid ethers within Artemisia is discussed.     

Sesquiterpene and diterpene derivatives from Solidago species

The investigation of four Solidago species afforded, in addition to known compounds, four new caryophyllene derivatives, two eudesmanes, two abietanes, a clerodane, two labdanes, three kauranes and an anol angelate. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. While the diterpenes isolated are widespread in the genus Solidago, the sesquiterpenes have not been obtained before from any species. The overall picture of the large genus, however, is relatively uniform.     

Neue diterpene und germacranolide aus Mikania-Arten

From three Mikania species, three new labdanic acid and two kaurenic acid derivatives have been isolated together with known compounds and four new germacranolides, differing only in the ester moiety.     

Neue labdan-derivate und andere inhaltsstoffe aus Relhania acerosa

The investigation of Relhania acerosa afforded, in addition to known compounds, three new labdane derivatives, two of which are esterified with succinic acid and one which has an anomalous carbon skeleton. Furthermore, several new aromatic compounds are isolated, which are most probably degradated thymol derivatives. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by some chemical transformations. The stereochemistry of one of the new labdanes has been established by a partial synthesis. The chemotaxonomic situation is briefly discussed.     

Neuen kaurensaure-derivate aus Wedelia-arten

The investigation of three South American Wedelia species affords besides known acetylenes several new kaurenic acid derivatives, which have been isolated as their methyl esters. Their structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Chemotaxonomic aspects are discussed.     

α-Humulene derivatives including a sesquiterpene acid with a rearranged carbon skeleton from Lychophorora columnaris

An investigation of Lychnophora columnaris afforded in addition to known compounds six new α-humulene derivatives and a rearranged sesquiterpene with a new carbon skeleton. These compounds and several sesquiterpene lactones isolated from this species seem to be of chemotaxonomic importance. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and a few chemical transformations including partial synthesis.     

Neue ent-atisiren- und ent-kaurensäure-derivate aus Helianthus-arten

The investigation of four Helianthus species afforded, in addition to known compounds, four new atisirenic acid derivatives, a new ent-kaurenic acid derivative, three new labdane derivatives and an unknown C₁₅-acetylenic compound. The structures of the diterpenes were elucidated by intensive NMR studies and some chemical transformations. An unusual fragmentation in the mass spectra of the atisirenes is discussed briefly.     

Types of sesquiterpenes from Artemisia douglasiana

Artemisia douglasiana afforded, in addition to known compounds, two new C₁₄-acetylenes, five longipinene derivatives, three nerolidol derivatives, a lactone and a ketone with a new carbon skeleton and lavendulol-2-methylbutyrate. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and some chemical transformations. The configurations of several oxo longipinene-7, 9-di- and 7, 8, 9-triesters isolated previously were corrected. The biogenesis of the new lactones is discussed briefly.
