The specific mechanisms that result in the success of any species invasion case are difficult to document. Reproductive strategies are often cited as a primary driver of invasive success, with human activities further facilitating invasions by, for example, acting as seed vectors for dispersal via road, train, air, and marine traffic, and by producing efficient corridors for movement including canals, drainages, and roadways. Sahara mustard (Brassica tournefortii) is a facultative autogamous annual native to Eurasia that has rapidly invaded the southwestern United States within the past century, displacing natives, and altering water‐limited landscapes in the southwest. We used a genotyping‐by‐sequencing approach to study the population structure and spatial geography of Sahara mustard from 744 individuals from 52 sites across the range of the species’ invasion. We also used herbaria records to model range expansion since its initial introduction in the 1920s. We found that Sahara mustard occurs as three populations in the United States unstructured by geography, identified three introduction sites, and combined herbaria records with genomic analyses to map the spread of the species. Low genetic diversity and linkage disequilibrium are consistent with self‐fertilization, which likely promoted rapid invasive spread. Overall, we found that Sahara mustard experienced atypical expansion patterns, with a relatively constant rate of expansion and without the lag phase that is typical of many invasive species.  相似文献

Chlorophyllase and peroxidase activities were measured in relation to seed maturation and degreening in canola ( Brassica napus cvs Westar and Alto) and mustard ( Brassica juncea cvs Cutlass and Lethbridge 22A). Samples of seed collected at the same moisture content were pooled, then divided and used for each assay. During maturation the green pigment (chlorophyll and related pigments) content of canola seed decreased linearly and was lower than that measured in mustard at all moisture contents studied, except for the highest and lowest moisture contents. Chlorophyllides and pheophorbides were detected in canola and were essentially absent in mustard. This difference in accumulation of dephytylated pigments infers differences in the pigment degradation pathways in Brassica species. Interspecific differences in the enzymology of degreening were found. Green pigment degradation was associated with increased chlorophyllase activity and low peroxidase activity in canola and low Chlorophyllase and high perosidase activity in mustard. The possible role of ethylene in seed degreening is discussed.  相似文献

7 varieties of mustards were cultivated in statistically designed field during 1988 through 1989 and 1989 through 1990 crops in order to ascertain the resistant or less susceptible varieties for aflatoxin elaboration. Under field condition, none of the varieties of mustard was found to be resistant. Maximum aflatoxin contamination was observed in the late planting time (15 th November) crops. Insect (Lipaphis erysime) incidence had significant negative correlation (r=?0.9354) with the yield (Q/hectare) while it had significant positive correlation (r=0.5705) with aflatoxin contamination.  相似文献

We tested the hypothesis that a generalist arthropod predator, Tenodera sinensis Saussure, could trigger a trophic cascade in an old-field ecosystem. These mantids had relatively weak effects on abundance and biomass of other carnivorous arthropods as a group. The effect of mantids on herbivores was stronger than on carnivores, mainly concentrated in Homoptera and Diptera. Herbivore load was reduced by mantids with the consequence that overall plant biomass (mainly grasses) was increased. Percapita interaction strengths between mantids and other arthropod taxa were, for the most part, weakly negative. Our study demonstrates that a significant trophic cascade can be triggered by a generalist predator even within the framework of a diverse community with relatively diffuse interactions. 为探究退耕还林对地面蜘蛛群落的影响,分别于2014和2015年3月—9月期间,采用陷阱法对北京市顺义区南彩镇退耕还林已2a和3a的林带及相邻原非作物生境林带中地面蜘蛛的活动密度进行了系统调查和分析。结果,2014年在调查区域共采集地面蜘蛛1465头,隶属8科18属32种,2015年共收集地面蜘蛛2186头,隶属10科25属45种;退耕还林以后蜘蛛类群发生改变,地面蜘蛛丰富度增加,而部分农田蜘蛛消失;2014年原非作物生境林带中地面蜘蛛的多样性指数、丰富度都极显著高于退耕还林林带(P0.01),均匀性指数不存在显著差异,2015年两个林带的多样性指数仍存在极显著差异(P0.01),丰富度存在显著差异(P0.05),均匀性指数之间不存在显著差异;退耕还林以后第3年新建林带和原非作物生境林带中地面蜘蛛的活动密度随时间的变化趋势相近。研究结果表明:顺义地区退耕还林工程实施3a以后,新建人工林仍处于生境重建阶段,未完全达到稳定状态,退耕还林以后第3年新建林带中地面蜘蛛群落的稳定性高于第2年。退耕还林通过改变原有农田生态系统的植被种类、结构、人为管理等方式,使原有农田生态系统发生了根本性的改变。持续研究退耕还林对地面蜘蛛的类群变化的影响对生境受到干扰后生物群落变化过程的认识有理论意义。  相似文献

 The dynamics and abundance of nectar secretion as well as sugar productivity were studied in flowers of brown mustard (Brassica juncea) cv. Małopolska and white mustard (Sinapis alba) cv. Borowska. Moreover, floral nectaries were examined under LM and SEM. In both cultivars lateral and median pairs of nectaries secreted nectar. However, differences were found in morphology and activity of these pairs. The lateral nectaries produced more nectar than the median ones. Nectar secretion started at loose bud and peaked during anther dehiscence. Average amount of nectarsecreted by 100 flowers of cv. Małopolska and cv. Borowska were 119.9 mg and 134 mg. Mean concentration of nectar was 26.7% and 23.4%, respectively. One hundred flowers of cv. Małopolska and cv. Borowska secreted 28.4 mg and 24.9 mg of sugars in nectar. Abstract

A pot experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichoderma harzianum inoculation on the uptake of zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) by Indian mustard (Brassica juncea) from the soil having three different concentrations of Zn (300, 600, 900 mg/kg) and Cd (5, 10, 15 mg/kg) separately. Microbial inoculation resulted in significantly better plant growth, available metal content and their uptake than control (without microbes). Available Zn was enhanced, ca.1.6- and 1.4-fold and Cd ca. 2.5- and 1.8-fold, by P. fluorescens and T. harzianum, respectively. P. fluorescens resulted in an increase in Zn uptake by 113.9, 51.9 and 58.4% and T. harzianum by 42.6, 32.1 and 33.9% over control from soils having 300, 600 and 900 mg Zn, respectively, while of the corresponding results for Cd were 110.2, 48.9 and 58.1% with P. fluorescens and 42.6, 30.9 and 33.4% with T. harzianum from soil having 5, 10 and 15 mg Cd, respectively, after 90 days of treatment. In general the rate of metal uptake was higher during the initial 30 days and declined later.  相似文献

为了探索红火蚁Solenopsis invicta Buren入侵对南方典型旱作生态系统-香蕉种植园节肢动物群落的生态学效应,本文采用定点系统调查、采样的方法,收集、记录了红火蚁严重发生的高、中和低杂草覆盖度香蕉园香蕉植株上、杂草上、地表节肢动物种类、个体数量,并比较了节肢动物群落动态变化、多样性主要参数与红火蚁未发生区之间的差异。研究结果表明在红火蚁入侵区,高、中覆盖度类型区域香蕉植株上物种数有所增加,低覆盖类型物种数减少;高覆盖度类型区域香蕉植株上节肢动物个体总数增加,而中、低覆盖度类型均呈下降趋势,其中低覆盖度下降幅最大,为38.01%。与无红火蚁区域相比,红火蚁入侵区高、中和低杂草覆盖度区域香蕉植株上节肢动物群落特征参数变化不大。与对照区域相比,入侵区高、中、低杂草覆盖度区域杂草上节肢动物群落物种数降幅均大于30%,个体总数降幅均大于50%,丰富度指数降低了20%,而优势度指数分别增加了25%、37.5%、62.5%;入侵区地表节肢动物群落物种数降幅均近30%,个体总数降幅均在34%以上,丰富度指数降低了20%,高、中、低覆盖度区域地表节肢动物群落优势度指数分别上升了46.15%、61.54%、38.46%。红火蚁入侵对高、中、低杂草覆盖度香蕉园香蕉植株上节肢动物群落的负面影响较小,而对杂草和地表节肢动物群落有显著负面影响,改变了这些地方节肢动物群落的特征和结构。  相似文献

土壤动物群落结构和多样性可能随凋落物分解进程和基质质量的变化不断改变。为了解亚热带森林凋落叶分解过程中土壤节肢动物群落变化特征,以四川盆地亚热带森林麻栎(Quercus acutissima)和柳杉(Cryptomeria fortunei)凋落叶为对象,于2011-2015年采用分解袋法研究了2种凋落叶分解过程中土壤节肢动物组成、结构和多样性动态变化。整个研究期间,柳杉和麻栎凋落叶分解袋中共捕获土壤节肢动物3855只,分属于16目51科,且均以等节跳科和棘跳科为优势类群;麻栎凋落叶中土壤节肢动物的个体密度随分解进程呈现增加趋势,在分解的1079天达最高值后降低,而柳杉凋落叶则在分解的156天急剧增加后快速降低,2种凋落叶中土壤节肢动物类群数量具有相似的动态变化过程;2种凋落叶中土壤节肢动物总体以菌食性数量比例最高,腐食性最低,且随凋落叶分解进程,植食性土壤节肢动物占比明显下降,菌食性则上升;非度量多维尺度(NMDS)分析显示,2种凋落叶中土壤节肢动物群落组成具有显著差异,聚类分析表明,2种凋落叶土壤节肢动物群落结构相似性随分解进程不断降低。亚热带森林凋落叶分解过程中土壤节肢动物群落组成、结构和多样性受凋落叶类型影响。  相似文献

Fitness of hybrids between genetically modified (GM) crops and wild relatives influences the likelihood of ecological harm. We measured fitness components in spontaneous (non-GM) rapeseed x Brassica rapa hybrids in natural populations. The F1 hybrids yielded 46.9% seed output of B. rapa, were 16.9% as effective as males on B. rapa and exhibited increased self-pollination. Assuming 100% GM rapeseed cultivation, we conservatively predict < 7000 second-generation transgenic hybrids annually in the United Kingdom (i.e. approximately 20% of F1 hybrids). Conversely, whilst reduced hybrid fitness improves feasibility of bio-containment, stage projection matrices suggests broad scope for some transgenes to offset this effect by enhancing fitness.  相似文献

In developing seeds of mustard ( Brassica juncea L. cv. RLM 198) the period between 20 and 30 days after fertilization (DAF) was identified as the period of active lipid biosynthesis, although dry matter continued to accumulate until maturity. The period of lipid synthesis was associated with a decrease in starch, soluble sugars and protein, thus, giving rise to precursors for the biosynthesis of lipids. Besides decreasing the dry matter content (on both % and seed basis), Zn and S deficiency caused a significant ( P > 0.05) reduction in oil content. As compared to control, the decrease in oil content was 11, 12 and 18% at 30 DAF and 4, 9 and 16% at maturity in Zn, S and (Zn+S) deficient treatments, respectively. Throughout the period of seed development, a significant decrease in starch and protein with a slight accumulation of soluble sugars was observed due to deficiency of Zn or S. The rate of [l-14C]-acetate incorporation into total lipids, which was maximal at 30 DAF, also displayed a significant decrease due to the abovementioned mineral deficiencies. Addition of Zn or S in vitro, enhanced the lipid synthesis at all stages of seed development. Under Zn and S deficiency, the phospholipids increased from 10 to 30 DAF and then declined until maturity. However, the proportion of glycolipids and free fatty acids increased, with a corresponding decrease in total glycerides. Further, in deficiency treatments, there was an increase in 22:1 with a corresponding decrease in 18:1, 18:2 and 18:3 in developing and mature mustard seeds.  相似文献

To develop an efficient mustard (Brassica juncea) breeding programme, a better knowledge of the genetic control and relationships of the main selected characters is needed. Thus, doubled haploid (DH) lines were evaluated over 2 years in the field. Days to flowering, plant height, thousand-seed weight, fatty acid composition, seed oil content, sinigrin, gluconapin and total glucosinolate contents were determined in the DH population. The influence of seed coat colour was estimated. Results showed significant differences between yellow and brown seeds only for oil and fatty acid contents. Molecular analysis revealed that seed coat colour is associated with two Mendelian trait loci: Bjc1 [on linkage group (LG) 3] and Bjc2 (on LG6). The quantitative trait loci associated with characters—detected by composite interval mapping—were not co-localised and revealed a genetic independence. The results obtained in this study show that the most important agronomic and quality traits of brown mustard could be bred independently. Correlation between the studied traits is also discussed.  相似文献

Urea and guanidinium hydrochloride dissociate the 12S protein of mustard and rapeseed to 1.8 S protein and the extent of dissociation depends on the concentration of the denaturant. Mustard (Brassica juncea) protein is more readily dissociated than the rapeseed (Brassica campestris) protein. The reagents denature the protein as evidenced by increase in viscosity, appearance of difference spectra and quenching of fluorescence. Rapeseed protein is denatured more readily than the mustard protein. Analysis of visctosity, spectral and fluoresence data suggests that the first event in the denaturation reaction is the perturbation of the aromatic amino acid residues followed by their exposure to the solvent medium and unfolding of the protein molecule.  相似文献

Tellurium (Te) is widely used in industry because of its unique chemical and physical properties, and has recently become a part of everyday life as a component of phase-change optical magnetic disks. However, the recovery of Te from the environment has not been discussed yet. In this regard, we evaluated the potential use of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea), a selenium (Se) accumulator, for the phytoremediation of Te. The Indian mustard plant was exposed to selenate and tellurate and the concentrations of Se and Te and the chemical species in the plant were determined. The Indian mustard plant accumulated less Te than Se, and the amount of Te accumulated in the plant was approximately 1/69 of that of Se. Although the incorporation of selenate was reduced by increasing sulfate concentration in the medium, the incorporation of Te was not affected by it, suggesting that this plant was able to discriminate tellurate from selenate in the roots. Three Te species were detected in the plant. The major species was tellurate. The other two species were not identical to available Te standards and thus could not be identified. Consequently, the Indian mustard plant is inappropriate for the phytoremediation of Te because it can strictly distinguish tellurate from selenate.  相似文献

The occurrence of clonal growth of distylous Lithospermum caroliniense was investigated in a population in the Nebraska Sandhills, an area where sand dunes have been relatively stable for at least 1500-3000 yr, and compared to a population occurring at the Indiana Dunes, an area of active sand dune formation. Spatial autocorrelation analysis indicated the occurrence of significant clonal propagation of genetically based floral morphs at Arapaho Prairie, but not for the Indiana Dunes. Apparent clonal growth in the Sandhills population had no overall negative effect on pollen deposition or fecundity relative to the Indiana population, although in some large clones the proportion of compatible pollen grains on stigmas was lower. Clonal growth may have occurred in the Sandhills population because of the greater age and stability of the Nebraska Sandhills; infrequent establishment of seedlings permits detection of clonal growth using the spatial pattern of floral morphs. At the Indiana dunes, repeated cycles of dune formation provide conditions favoring establishment of seedlings, and sand dune succession results in disappearance of L. caroliniense before the development of clones.  相似文献

Cerastobin, a thrombin-like enzyme, was isolated from the venom of Cerastes vipera (Sahara sand viper) in homogeneous form. Cerastobin had a molecular weight of 38,000 with 348 amino acid residues. It had an isoelectric point of 7.7 (a pH optimum of 7.9 and a temperature optimum of 45 degrees C). Cerastobin hydrolyzed arginine-containing synthetic substrates such as TAME, BAME, and BAEE, but BAPNA was not hydrolyzed. Cerastobin had thrombin-like activity, producing fibrin from fibrinogen and also hydrolyzing chromogenic substrates for thrombin such as 2AcOH.H-D-CHG-But-Arg-pNA (CBS 34.47) and H-D-Phe-Pip-Arg-pNA (S-2238). It showed kallikrein-like activity and hydrolyzed kallikrein substrates 2AcOH.H-D-Phe-Gly-Arg-pNA (CBS 33.27) and H-D-Pro-Phe-Arg-pNA (S-2302). It produced bradykinin from bradykininogen, as uterus contraction was observed. A serine inhibitor, DFP, exerted a pronounced inhibitory effect, suggesting that cerastobin is a serine-type protease. The sequence of 37 residues from the amino-terminal end was investigated. The amino-terminal amino acid was valine as it is in most other thrombin-like enzymes. The amino acid sequence of cerastobin was similar to that of thrombin in some residues and had some homology with that of kallikrein. However, cerastobin showed a high degree of homology to thrombin-like enzymes isolated from various snake venoms. Factor X was partially degraded by cerastobin. It was also found that antithrombin III was degraded by the enzyme. The alpha and beta chains of fibrin monomer were preferentially hydrolyzed by cerastobin, but the gamma chain was quite resistant.  相似文献
