We introduce two test procedures for comparing two survival distributions on the basis of randomly right-censored data consisting of both paired and unpaired observations. Our procedures are based on generalizations of a pooled rank test statistic previously proposed for uncensored data. One generalization adapts the Prentice-Wilcoxon score, while the other adapts the Akritas score. The use of these particular scoring systems in pooled rank tests with randomly right-censored paired data has been advocated by several researchers. Our test procedures utilize the permutation distributions of the test statistics based on a novel manner of permuting the scores. Permutation versions of tests for right-censored paired data and for two independent right-censored samples that use the proposed scoring systems are obtained as special cases of our test procedures. Simulation results show that our test procedures have high power for detecting scale and location shifts in exponential and log-logistic distributions for the survival times. We also demonstrate the advantages of our test procedures in terms of utilizing randomly occurring unpaired observations that are discarded in test procedures for paired data. The tests are applied to skin graft data previously reported elsewhere.  相似文献

We describe existing tests and introduce two new tests concerning the value of a survival function. These tests may be used to construct a confidence interval for the survival probability at a given time or for a quantile of the survival distribution. Simulation studies show that error rates can differ substantially from their nominal values, particularly at survival probabilities close to zero or one. The paired-t, sign, and signed rank tests were compared for samples from a bivariate exponential distribution. Each is a valid α-level test. One test was not uniformly more powerful than the others for all sample sizes, α levels, correlations, and alternative hypotheses considered, but the signed rank test did well consistently. It was always preferable to the sign test and never was appreciably worse than the paired-t test. The relative performance of the tests depends on α as well as the sample size.  相似文献

The plasticity of viral plus strand RNA genomes is fundamental for the multiple functions of these molecules. Local and long-range RNA-RNA interactions provide the scaffold for interacting proteins of the translation, replication, and encapsidation machinery. Using dengue virus as a model, we investigated the relevance of the interplay between two alternative conformations of the viral genome during replication. Flaviviruses require long-range RNA-RNA interactions and genome cyclization for RNA synthesis. Here, we define a sequence present in the viral 3'UTR that overlaps two mutually exclusive structures. This sequence can form an extended duplex by long-range 5'-3' interactions in the circular conformation of the RNA or fold locally into a small hairpin (sHP) in the linear form of the genome. A mutational analysis of the sHP structure revealed an absolute requirement of this element for viral viability, suggesting the need of a linear conformation of the genome. Viral RNA replication showed high vulnerability to changes that alter the balance between circular and linear forms of the RNA. Mutations that shift the equilibrium toward the circular or the linear conformation of the genome spontaneously revert to sequences with different mutations that tend to restore the relative stability of the two competing structures. We propose a model in which the viral genome exists in at least two alternative conformations and the balance between these two states is critical for infectivity.  相似文献

The paper reviews the linear mixed models (LMM) methodology that is suitable for the statistical and genetic analyses of spatially repeated measures collected from clonal progeny tests. For example, we consider a poplar clonal trial where progenies of different families are propagated by cuttings, and only one ramet per clone is planted on each block. Modeling covariance structures following the LMM theory allows improving genetic parameter estimation based on clonal testing. Besides variance components, we also obtained an estimate of the covariance between residuals (within clonal effects in two different blocks). This covariance is due to planting more than one ramet from the same genotype in the same trial, which generates correlated residual effects from different blocks. Its estimation can significantly improve the comparison among clones within a progeny test or between tests in a clonal testing network. Results indicate that the covariance is also a component of the genetic variance estimator and plays a significant role in assessing the variance of specific (micro) environmental effects. A positive covariance implies that ramets show a similar performance in more than one block. Thus, a larger and more positive covariance implies a stronger genetic effect controlling the expression of the trait in the local environment and a smaller variance of specific environmental effects. On the contrary, a negative covariance implies that the performance of individual ramets is affected by strong microenvironmental effects, specific to one or more blocks, which can also directly increase the within-clone variability.  相似文献

理解城市鸟类多样性与景观特征的关系对城市生物多样性保护和可持续发展具有重要意义。通过爬取中国观鸟记录中心网站2020年福州主城区436份观鸟报告数据计算鸟类丰富度指数(S)、Shannon-Wiener多样性指数(H)和Simpson多样性指数(D);基于谷歌地球引擎和高分辨率Worldview影像量化景观特征因子;在此基础上,采用Mann-Whitney U检验了两个网格尺度(300 m和1000 m)下S、H和D指数的差异性;运用广义线性模型探究了两个尺度下影响鸟类多样性指数的关键景观因子及其重要性。结果表明:(1)2020年研究区内共观测到242种鸟类,隶属19目59科,雀形目鸟类为优势种;数量占比从高到低依次为留鸟、冬候鸟、旅鸟和夏候鸟,分别为63.53%、25.83%、6.71%和3.93%;(2)两个尺度下鸟类多样性指数差异明显,1000 m尺度下S和H指数均显著高于300 m尺度(0.05相似文献
