为了阐明金钱豹(Panthera pardus)和猪獾(Arctonyx collaris)心冠状动脉的分支分布特征及血供情况,为心脏生物学及动物学研究提供结构基础资料,利用血管铸型和组织透明方法观察研究了金钱豹与猪獾心左、右冠状动脉的分支分布.结果表明,金钱豹和猪獾的心均由左右冠状动脉营养.金钱豹左冠状动脉分为室间隔支、前降支和旋支.前降支又分出左室上支、左室中支和左室下支.右冠状动脉沿途分出右室前支、右室后下支和右室后上支.猪獾左冠状动脉分为前降支和旋支.前降支又分出室间隔支和左室前支,旋支又分出左缘支和左室后支.其右冠状动脉沿途分出右室前支、右缘支和右室后支.金钱豹和猪獾心的室间隔均由发自左冠状动脉的独立的室间隔支营养,二者左右冠状动脉在膈壁的分布属于均衡型.  相似文献

以薄壳山核桃品种‘马罕’(Caryaillinoensis‘Mahan’)的5年生嫁接苗为实验材料,研究枝条短截(1/4、1/3和1/2短截)以及枝条和主干的环剥和环割对其枝条生长及枝条和叶片中碳氮代谢物积累的影响。结果显示:经不同程度短截处理后,枝条萌芽率均显著高于对照(未经任何修剪),新枝的数量、长度和直径也均不同程度高于对照,而比叶质量及叶绿素含量总体上与对照无显著差异;经1/2和1/3短截处理后,长度0-10cm和30cm以上的新枝比例明显提高;枝条和叶片中可溶性糖含量和C/N比均高于对照、全N含量均低于对照,枝条中淀粉含量低于对照而叶片中淀粉含量高于对照。经枝条环剥和环割处理后,枝条萌芽率和比叶质量均高于对照但无显著差异,枝条平均长度增长量和叶绿素含量均显著低于对照、枝条平均直径增长量均显著高于对照;枝条和叶片中可溶性糖和淀粉含量以及C/N比均高于对照,全N含量均低于对照。经主干环剥和环割处理后,枝条的萌芽率和平均直径增长量以及比叶质量均显著高于对照,枝条平均长度增长量和叶绿素含量均显著低于对照;枝条和叶片中可溶性糖和淀粉含量以及C/N比均高于对照,枝条中全N含量高于对照而叶片中全N含量则低于对照。此外,品种‘马罕’的结果枝长度为0-30cm,其中长度0-10cm的结果枝数量最多。研究结果表明:不同短截措施均能提高薄壳山核桃的萌芽率、促进新枝伸长和增粗;而枝条和主干的环剥和环割处理对枝条萌芽率无明显促进作用,但有利于枝条增粗;不同修剪措施总体上有利于其叶片及枝条中碳水化合物的合成和积累。总体上,1/3短截及枝条和主干的适度环剥可促进品种‘马罕’结果枝的形成。  相似文献

DNA junctions, known as Holliday junctions, are intermediates in genetic recombination between DNAs. In this structure, two double-stranded DNA helices with similar sequence are joined at a branch point. The branch point can move along these helices when strands with the same sequence are exchanged. Such branch migration is modeled as a random walk. First, we model this process discretely, such that the motion of the branch is represented as transfer between discrete compartments. This is useful in analysing the results of DNA branch migration on junction comprised of synthetic oligonucleotides. The limit in which larger numbers of smaller steps go to continuous motion of the branch is also considered. We show that the behavior of the continuous system is very similar to that of the discrete system when there are more than just a few compartments. Thus, even branch migration on oligonucleotides can be viewed as a continuous process. One consequence of this is that a step size must be assumed when determining rate constants of branch migration.We compare migration where forward and backward movements of the branch are equally probable to biased migration where one direction is favored over the other. In the latter case larger differences between the discrete and continuous cases are predicted, but the differences are still small relative to the experimental error associated with experiments to measure branch migration in oligonucleotides.  相似文献

An intermediate stage in the process of eukaryotic RNA splicing is the formation of a lariat structure. It is anchored at an adenosine residue in intron between 10 and 50 nucleotides upstream of the 3' splice site. A short conserved sequence (the branch point sequence) functions as the recognition signal for the site of lariat formation. It has been generally assumed that the branch point is recognized mainly by the presence of its unique sequence where the lariat is formed. However, the known branch point consensus sequence is found to be distributed nearly randomly throughout the gene sequence with only a slightly higher frequency in the expected lariat region. Further, the known consensus sequence is found to be clearly inadequate to specify branch points. These observations have implications for understanding the mechanism of branch point recognition in the process of splicing, and the possible evolution of the branch point signal.  相似文献

The intramural stress concentration in the arterial wall is studied at the bovine circumflex coronary arterial branch. The material properties, geometry, and strains in the arterial branch are determined from experiments. The stresses are determined using a finite element analysis. The arterial branch is modeled as two interesecting thin cylindrical shells incorporating local variations in the branch geometry, thickness, and material properties. The artery is considered orthotropic and loaded with an incremental pressure of 40 mmHg. The highest intramural stresses are found to be localized at the proximal and distal regions of the ostium and are not significantly affected by the elastic properties. The stresses are 3 to 4 times greater in the branch at the inner surface than in the straight segment. The strains are twice as large at the branch than in the straight segment. We speculate that this stress concentration could injure the artery and make the branch region susceptible to atherosclerosis.  相似文献

Spatial variation in sapwood area to leaf area ratio (Huber value, HV) and specific leaf area (SLA) was examined in branches of closed-canopy trees of silver birch (Betula pendula Roth). HV increased basipetally within a crown and decreased with increasing branch order, but exhibited no significant radial trend along a primary branch. HV was primarily determined by branch position in a crown and branch diameter at the sampling point, being independent of the size of the tree and branch. Greater HV in the lower-crown branches is considered a means to mitigate differences in hydraulic transport capacity between the branches located in different canopy layers. Beside branch position and sampling location on a branch, SLA depended significantly on several other variables characterising tree and branch size. SLA increased basipetally within a crown and along a primary branch, but exhibited no significant trend with branch orders. Because height caused leaf area (AL) to diminish more rapidly than leaf dry weight, AL primarily determined the vertical variation in SLA.  相似文献

The excised introns of pre-mRNAs and intron-containing splicing intermediates are in a lariat configuration in which the 5' end of the intron is linked by a 2'-5' phosphodiester bond (RNA branch) to a single adenosine residue near the 3' end of the intron. To determine the role of the specific sequence surrounding the RNA branch, we have mutated the branch point sequence of the human beta-globin IVS1. Pre-mRNAs lacking the authentic branch point sequence are accurately spliced in vitro; processing of the mutant pre-mRNAs generates RNA lariats due to the activation of cryptic branch points within IVS1. The cryptic branch points always occur at adenosine residues, but the sequences surrounding the branched nucleotide vary. Regardless of the type of mutation or the sequences remaining within IVS1, the cryptic branch points are 22 to 37 nucleotides upstream of the 3' splice site. These results suggest that RNA branch point selection is primarily based on a mechanism that measures the distance from the 3' splice site.  相似文献

We examined Type I error rates of Felsenstein's (1985; Am. Nat. 125:1-15) comparative method of phylogenetically independent contrasts when branch lengths are in error and the model of evolution is not Brownian motion. We used seven evolutionary models, six of which depart strongly from Brownian motion, to simulate the evolution of two continuously valued characters along two different phylogenies (15 and 49 species). First, we examined the performance of independent contrasts when branch lengths are distorted systematically, for example, by taking the square root of each branch segment. These distortions often caused inflated Type I error rates, but performance was almost always restored when branch length transformations were used. Next, we investigated effects of random errors in branch lengths. After the data were simulated, we added errors to the branch lengths and then used the altered phylogenies to estimate character correlations. Errors in the branches could be of two types: fixed, where branch lengths are either shortened or lengthened by a fixed fraction; or variable, where the error is a normal variate with mean zero and the variance is scaled to the length of the branch (so that expected error relative to branch length is constant for the whole tree). Thus, the error added is unrelated to the microevolutionary model. Without branch length checks and transformations, independent contrasts tended to yield extremely inflated and highly variable Type I error rates. Type I error rates were reduced, however, when branch lengths were checked and transformed as proposed by Garland et al. (1992; Syst. Biol. 41:18-32), and almost never exceeded twice the nominal P-value at alpha = 0.05. Our results also indicate that, if branch length transformations are applied, then the appropriate degrees of freedom for testing the significance of a correlation coefficient should, in general, be reduced to account for estimation of the best branch length transformation. These results extend those reported in Díaz-Uriarte and Garland (1996; Syst. Biol. 45:27-47), and show that, even with errors in branch lengths and evolutionary models different from Brownian motion, independent contrasts are a robust method for testing hypotheses of correlated evolution.  相似文献

Splicing of pre-mRNAs occurs via a lariat intermediate in which an intronic adenosine, embedded within a branch point sequence, forms a 2'',5''-phosphodiester bond (RNA branch) with the 5'' end of the intron. How the branch point is recognized and activated remains largely unknown. Using site-specific photochemical cross-linking, we have identified two proteins that specifically interact with the branch point during the splicing reaction. U2AF65, an essential splicing factor that binds to the adjacent polypyrimidine tract, crosslinks to the branch point at the earliest stage of spliceosome formation in an ATP-independent manner. A novel 28-kDa protein, which is a constituent of the mature spliceosome, contacts the branch point after the first catalytic step. Our results indicate that the branch point is sequentially recognized by distinct splicing factors in the course of the splicing reaction.  相似文献

In two branched plants ofImpatiens balsamina with intact apex and leaves floral buds are induced only in the branch which is either exposed to 8-h (inductive) photoperiods or receives GA3 treatment if maintained under 24-h (non-inductive) photoperiods. GA3 induces floral buds on the treated branch even if the leaves on that branch are removed, showing that while leaves are essential for photoperception, these are not neoessary for GA3 to cause induction. The effect of the inductive photoperiods or GA3 treatments to a branch is not transmitted to the other branch which is treated with water and is maintained under non-inductive photoperiods even when the latter is defoliated but is transmitted if the apioal or both the apical and axillary buds on the branch receiving inductive photoperiods or GA3 treatment are excised. It, therefore, appears that the existence of strong sinks in the form of axillary and apical buds on the treated branch prevents the transmission of photoperiodic as well as GA3 effects to the other branch in this plant.  相似文献

A mathematical model is presented to describe the coupling between the concentration of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in the cambial region of a tree branch and the radial expansion of the branch during active growth. The main features of the model are (1) the branch cambium is treated as an approximately cylindrical surface of negligible thickness, (2) the rate of radial growth is proportional to the mass of IAA per unit area on the cambial surface, and (3) IAA is transported basipetally through the cambium at a constant speed. We neglect the role of elastic strains in the determination of branch shape, and the effects of IAA synthesis and metabolization in the cambium, so the model is not quantitatively accurate. However, the model does reproduce several important qualitative features of tree growth including the approximate area-preserving property of tree branch junctions and the ability of a branch to maintain its shape despite perturbations due to injury.  相似文献

Many primates use objects in courtship and dominance displays, but little is known about such displays in other contexts. Bonobos (Pan paniscus) frequently perform “branch drag” displays in which an individual runs along the ground while holding a branch in one hand. We aim to understand how bonobos use branch drags in the context of group travel. Using observational data collected from a community of free-ranging bonobos at the Lui Kotale field site in the Democratic Republic of Congo we compare group travel that occurs after branch drags to travel in the absence of branch drags. We found that bonobos are much more likely to perform branch drags before travel to a distant feeding tree than before shorter bouts of travel. At some locations, bonobos also perform branch drags before a change in travel direction. Our results suggest that in specific contexts branch drags may provide information about upcoming group travel, and likely function to coordinate group movement.  相似文献

榕(Ficusmicrocarpa L.)和黄桷树(Ficus virens Ait.var.sublanceolata(Miq.)Corner)是在三峡库区广泛栽植的优良绿化树种.在三峡库区诸多公路、铁路修建和移民搬迁城镇建设等工程建设后的生态恢复和环境改善中,需要大量的榕和黄桷树.榕和黄桷树的繁殖通常采用切枝扦插的营养繁殖方式进行.因种苗培育的需要,对榕和黄桷树进行切枝时常发生,并且为了尽快获得大的种苗,通常切取榕和黄桷树植冠下部的大枝条用于种苗培育.切枝导致植株大量光合叶组织损失,对榕和黄桷树的总体光合生产和生物量积累会发生影响,同时,也会影响新枝的生长和发生数量以及植株再次提供切枝的能力.为了明确切枝对榕和黄桷树生长的影响,对切枝后榕和黄桷树的生物量积累和枝供给进行了研究,目的在于阐明在三峡库区亚热带气候条件下,生长速度比较快的榕和黄桷树是否可以在每年1次的切枝后很好恢复,从而能够可持续地提供切枝用于种苗培育.实验中对榕和黄桷树1a切枝1次,连续进行了3a.实验共设置了4个切枝强度(从植冠下部开始,分别切去植冠长度0%(对照)、20%、50%和70%范围内的所有枝条)和两个切枝处理季节(春季切枝和秋季切枝).实验结果表明,切枝会减少榕和黄桷树地上部分生物量增量,生物量增量减少的程度与切枝强度呈正相关;并且,每年连续进行的切枝使地上部分生物量增量减少加剧.实验发现,在20%、50%和70%的3个切枝强度中,高切枝强度可以保证在第1次切枝处理中获得高的枝收获量,但并不能保证在第2次和第3次切枝处理中也能获得高的枝收获量.与春季切枝处理相比,秋季切枝处理使榕和黄桷树获得更高的地上部分生物量增量,从而获得更高的枝收获量.就植株地上部分生物量增量和枝收获量而言,切枝强度对二者的影响并不因切枝季节不同而表现出差异.研究表明,对于本实验研究中采用的榕和黄桷树植株,当切枝强度高于20%时,每年1次的切枝不能使榕与黄桷树植株的生长完全恢复.如果切枝每年进行1次,为保证能够可持续地获得切枝并且对植株的生长不造成过大影响,对于本研究中所采用的榕和黄桷树植株而言,最适的切枝强度应低于20%.  相似文献

Two aspects of branch interaction in trees are investigated theoretically. In the first it is assumed that there is a controlling factor in which the proximity of neighboring terminal branch units influences their branching capability. The almost horizontal tiers of lateral branches of Terminalia catappa L. and Cornus alternifolia L. are simulated by computer using values based on the measured branch geometries of real trees. For branch interaction, we assume a horizontal circle of inhibition whose center is the existing terminal point of a branch. If the end point of another branch extends into the circle, the original branch fails to bifurcate. Examples of computer simulated patterns are illustrated using different degrees of interference and are compared with branch tiers in T. catappa. In the second model the ability of a terminal branch unit to bifurcate is considered to be determined by the accumulation of a critical amount of a hypothetical growth- or bifurcation-determining factor. The daughter branches of a bifurcation are assumed to have differing “flow rates,” i.e., the factor is distributed in different amounts between different daughter axes. Some simulated patterns generated by this model are very similar to real patterns found in T. catappa and an unnamed species of Tabernaemontana. In both simulations bifurcation ratios are determined and are shown to be a variable, not a fixed, property of the simulated trees.  相似文献

We apply a recent model of wood grain pattern formation to the junction between two tree branches. In model simulations, the export of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) from a branch into the junction is necessary to maintain the continuity between the grain pattern of the branch and the grain of the subjacent stem. Increased IAA export corresponds to a larger effect on the overall grain pattern. Conversely, if IAA export stops, the grain pattern diverts around the branch. These results do not depend on specific values for the model parameters and appear to be quite general. Since long-range water transport is largely parallel to the wood grain, greater IAA export from a branch is expected to give improved access to the water resources of the tree. IAA export thus emerges as a likely regulator of branch vigor. In this way, the basipetal flux of IAA through a branch, and its morphological consequences at branch junctions, may play an important role in several aspects of tree form.  相似文献

The problem of intron recognition in S. cerevisiae appears to be in part solved by the strong conservation of intron encoded splicing signals, in particular the 5' GUAUGU and the branch point UACUAAC which interact via base pairing with the RNA components of U1 and U2 snRNPs respectively. Nevertheless, the mere presence of such signals is insufficient for splicing to occur. In the S. cerevisiae ACT1 intron, a silent UACUAAC-like sequence (UACUAAG) is located 7 nucleotides upstream of the canonical branch point signal. In order to investigate whether other factors, in addition to the U2-UACUAAC base-pair interactions, affect branch point selection in yeast, we created a cis-competition assay by converting the UACUAAG to a strong branch point signal (UACUAAC). If simply having a canonical UACUAAC sequence were sufficient for lariat formation, a 1:1 ratio in usage of the two signals should have been observed. In this double branch point intron, however, the downstream UACUAAC is utilized preferentially (4:1). Results obtained from the analyses of numerous sequence variants flanking the two UACUAAC sequences, demonstrate that non-conserved sequences in the branch point region are able to define lariat formation. Consequently, we conclude that U2 base-pairing is not the only requirement determining branch point selection in yeast, and local structure in the vicinity of the branch point could play a critical role in its recognition.  相似文献

The transfer of energy to and from a Ponderosa pine branch involves solar radiation, thermal radiation from the ground, atmosphere, and surroundings, thermal emission by the branch, and free convection in still air and forced convection in wind. It is necessary to know the actual surface area of the branch, the effective area for absorbing sunlight, the effective area for absorbing long wave thermal radiation and for emission, and the free and forced convection coefficients. These parameters were determined using a solid silver casting of a Ponderosa pine branch suspended in an evacuated radiation chamber and in a wind tunnel. The actual surface area of the branch was determined by means of an electrolytic technique. Numerical examples are given of the evaluation of the temperature of a live branch based on energy transfer considerations. Comparison is made to our earlier work on spruce and fir.  相似文献

Recent studies have observed that Bayesian analyses of sequence data sets using the program MrBayes sometimes generate extremely large branch lengths, with posterior credibility intervals for the tree length (sum of branch lengths) excluding the maximum likelihood estimates. Suggested explanations for this phenomenon include the existence of multiple local peaks in the posterior, lack of convergence of the chain in the tail of the posterior, mixing problems, and misspecified priors on branch lengths. Here, we analyze the behavior of Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithms when the chain is in the tail of the posterior distribution and note that all these phenomena can occur. In Bayesian phylogenetics, the likelihood function approaches a constant instead of zero when the branch lengths increase to infinity. The flat tail of the likelihood can cause poor mixing and undue influence of the prior. We suggest that the main cause of the extreme branch length estimates produced in many Bayesian analyses is the poor choice of a default prior on branch lengths in current Bayesian phylogenetic programs. The default prior in MrBayes assigns independent and identical distributions to branch lengths, imposing strong (and unreasonable) assumptions about the tree length. The problem is exacerbated by the strong correlation between the branch lengths and parameters in models of variable rates among sites or among site partitions. To resolve the problem, we suggest two multivariate priors for the branch lengths (called compound Dirichlet priors) that are fairly diffuse and demonstrate their utility in the special case of branch length estimation on a star phylogeny. Our analysis highlights the need for careful thought in the specification of high-dimensional priors in Bayesian analyses.  相似文献

The impact of a heterogeneous within‐crown light environment on carbon allocation was investigated on young walnut trees trained on two branches: one left in full sunlight, the other shaded until leaf fall resulting in 67% reduction in photosynthetically active radiation. In September, the two branches were separately labelled with 14CO2 and 13CO2, respectively, so that the photosynthates from each branch could be traced independently at the same time. Although some carbon movements could be detected within 5 d in both directions (including from the shaded branch to the sun branch), between‐branch carbon movements were very limited: approximately 1% of the diurnal net assimilation of a branch. At this time of the year branch autonomy was nearly total, leading to increased relative respiratory losses and a moderate growth deficit in the shaded branch. The ratio of growth to reserve storage rate was only slightly affected, indicating that reserves acted not as a mere buffer for excess C but as an active sink for assimilates. In winter, branch autonomy was more questionable, as significant amounts of carbon were imported into both branches, possibly representing up to 10% of total branch reserves. Further within‐plant carbon transfers occurred in spring, which totally abolished plant autonomy, as new shoots sprouted on each branch received significantly more C mobilized from tree‐wide reserves than from local, mother‐branch located reserves. This allowed great flexibility of tree response to environment changes at the yearly time scale. As phloem is considered not functional in winter, it is suggested that xylem is involved as the pathway for carbohydrate movements at this time of the year. This is in agreement with other results regarding sugar exchanges between the xylem vessels and the neighbouring reserve parenchyma tissues.  相似文献
