SYNOPSIS. Glauconema trihymene n. g., n. sp., a marine hymenostome ciliate, is described from the Virginia coast. Morphologic studies were made on specimens treated with the Chatton-Lwoff silver impregnation technic and on animals observed with the phase microscope. Particular attention is given to the buccal ciliature and its importance to generic assignment in the order Hymenostomatida. 相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Pseudocohnilembus marinus n. sp., a marine ciliate, is described from the Virginia coast. Morphologic studies were made on specimens treated by the Chatton-Lwoff silver impregnation technic. Particular attention is given to the infraciliature of the buccal apparatus and its importance to the systematics of the order Hymenostomatida. The buccal infraciliature of the new species differs from that of all other species of Pseudocohnilembus by the presence of a lateral bar of argentophilic granules at the posterior end of the inner membrane. 相似文献

Abstract A new genus and species of heteronemertean, Praealbonemertes whangateaunienses n. gen. and n. sp., is described and illustrated. The species is characterised by inter alia a cephalic lacuna with strands of longitudinal muscle fibres, a proboscis with three muscle layers, and a well-developed muscle plate dorsal to the foregut and anterior intestine. The material was collected in New Zealand. 相似文献

A tiny arthropod, with five growth stages, is described. Three of the instars are metanauplius-like larvae, having unsegmented bodies and four pairs of appendages. The largest stage, with a length of about 1.5 mm, may still be immature. Its body is divided into three tagmata. The cephalon, including five appendiculate segments, h a projecting forehead with a rostral spine and a small shield with a joint between fourth and fifth segments. Eyes are absent. The trunk is composed of seven annular segments, the anterior two with appendages. The caudal end is a long pleotelson-like segment with the anus on its ventral surface. There are seven pairs of appendages: uniramous antennulae, composed of few tubular podomeres; four pairs of biramous postantennular, almost homeomorphic cephalic appendages; two pairs on the trunk, the anterior pair being similar to the cephalic appendages except for the exopodite, the posterior being much smaller, uniramous and apparently rudimentary. Martinssonia was probably benthic, feeding on detritic particles which it stirred up from the bottom. Besides various crustacean-like features, the new form reveals structures different from Crustacea as well as from all other known arthropodan groups. Martinssonia presumably is a descendant of an euarthropodan group, originating from the crustacean branch long before reaching the eucrustacean level of evolution. 相似文献

Humesiella corallicola n.g., n.sp., a lichomolgid copepod associated with the hard coral Hypnophora sp. is described from the South East Coast of India. Genus Humesiella nov. is close to Lichomolgus
Thorell, Nasomolgus
Sewell, Lichomolgides
Gotto and Epimolgus
Bocquet & Stock, in possessing a two-segmented fourth endopod with 2 terminal spines. However, it differs from all the known lichomolgid
genera in having a massive appendage-like posterior basal lobe on the second maxilla. 相似文献

Notogaeanemertes folzae gen. n., sp. n., a monoecious and ovoviviparous hoplonemertean, is described from the supra-littoral at Kaikoura, New Zealand. It shares more characters with group I terrestrial nemerteans than with group II which brings into question the significance of certain features in the systematics of semiterrestrial/terrestrial nemerteans. 相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Two new species of chonotrichous ciliates, Oenophorachona ectenolaemus n.g., n.sp. and Spirochona halophila n.sp. were found on Anisogammarus sp. collected from the waters of Humboldt County, California and Argyle Bay, San Juan Island, Washington. This is the 1st reported occurrence of 2 genera of chonotrichous ciliates on a single host species as well as the 1st of the occurrence of Spirochona in marine and brackish water environments. 相似文献

A new species, Pleurotricha indica n. sp., is described, characterized by an average size of 220 × 119 μm, a firm and inflexible body, six rows of dorsal kineties, one left and two right rows of marginal cirri, and an “Oxytricha-like” pattern of ventral cirri. The parts of the macronucleus are variable in shape and number. The comparison with other members of the genus shows that P. indica differs from other congeneric species in the combination of these characters. 相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Potomacus pottsi n. g., n. sp., a brackish water hymenostome ciliate, is described from the Potomac River. Morphologic studies were made on specimens treated with the Chatton-Lwoff silver impregnation technic. Polymorphism, with the formation of large macrostome forms, was noted. Particular attention is given to the buccal ciliature and its importance to generic assignment in the order Hymenostomatida. 相似文献

SYNOPSIS. A new coccidium Sivatoshella lonchurae n. gen., n. sp. (Coccidia, Eimerüdae) is described from the gut of the passeriform birds Lonchura malabarica (Linn.) and L. punctulata (Linn.). Endogenous stages of the parasite conform to those of the family Eimerüdae. Oocysts are spherical, 36–38 μ (avg. 37.5 μ) in diameter. Wall 3.6 ä thick, 4-layered; outermost layer thin transparent and colorless; next, slightly broader and light green; 3rd, thinner and light yellow; innermost dark black. Oocyst residuum absent. Micropyle absent. Sporocysts 28–29 μ long and 18 μ wide. They are 2 broad pear-shaped bodies with Steida body and a prominent substeidal body at the narrow pole. Sporocyst residuum present as minute refractile globules embedded in a dark matrix. Sporozoites broad, comma-shaped, with one large vacuole at the broad pole and nucleus at the center of the body. Sixteen sporozoites in each sporocyst, arranged at the periphery of the residual mass. Sporulation time : 24–48 hours at 31 C. Habitat: duodenum and small intestine of Lonchura malabarica (Linn.) and L. punctulata (Linn.). Locality: Calcutta, W. Bengal, India. 相似文献
