Length–weight relationships, W  =  aL b , were calculated for three species of mudskippers: Scartelaos tenuis , Periophthalmus waltoni and Boleophthalmus dussumieri from the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf. Analyzed were the length–weight relationship (LWR) and length–length relationship (LLR) of two fish species, Strongylura strongylura (family Belonidae) and Hyporhamphus limbatus (family Hemiramphidae) from Chilika Lake, India. A total of 616 specimens were sampled bi‐monthly from August 2014 to June 2016 using seine nets and screen barrier nets operated by local fishermen that were used for the present estimates.  相似文献

Length–weight relationship (LWR) was estimated for 12 elasmobranch species; five shark species, four species of rays and three species of guitar fishes from north‐eastern Arabian Sea, India. Five major landing centres of Maharashtra were selected; Satpati (Lat. 19°43′15″N, Long. 72°42′00″E), Naigaon (Lat. 19°19′32″N, Long. 72°48′54″E), Versova (Lat. 19°08′33″N, Long. 72°48′11″E), New ferry Wharf (Lat. 18°57′29″N Long. 72°51′01″E) and Sassoon dock (Lat. 18°54′42″N, Long. 72°49′33″E). Samples were collected fortnightly during August 2016 to October 2017 from various gears; drift gill nets (Hung length 114–143 m and #100–270 mm) off Satpati coast at 35–50 m depth, dol nets (length 50–65 m and cod end # 30–69 mm) in Naigaon at 38–50 m depth and trawl (length 33–72 m and cod end # 17–32 mm) in Versova, New ferry Wharf and Sassoon dock operated at 20–50 m depth. Multiday fishing was carried out with 2–3 fishing trips in a month, each trip with duration of 7–13 days. Soaking time of gill net and dol net varied from 4 to 8 hr while each trawl haul lasted for 3–4 hr. Length–weight/Disc‐width‐weight relationship showed good fit with r2 values varying from 0.818 to 0.999. In addition to information on LWR, new maximum size for three species of elasmobranchs is reported in this paper.  相似文献

The length‐weight relationships, spawning season, sex ratio, size at first maturity and fecundity of Botia dario (Hamilton, 1822), also known as the Bengal loach, were analyzed based on 556 specimens collected from the wetlands of Majuli Island, Assam between June 2012 and May 2013. The sex ratio (M : F) was 1 : 0.68, differing significantly (P < 0.05) from a 1 : 1 ratio. Size at first maturity (Lm50) was estimated as 6.8 cm for males and 7.4 cm for females. Analysis of monthly variations in the gonado‐somatic index (GSI), the monthly proportions of macroscopic gonadal maturity, and the ova diameter suggest a prolonged spawning season of B. dario from May to August, with a peak in July for both males and females (GSI = 15.0 in females; 7.0 in males). Absolute fecundity varied from 2523 to 51 377, with a mean of 18 367 ± 1254 oocytes per ovary. A positive correlation was recorded between total fecundity and body weight (r2 = 0.678).  相似文献

Presented are the length–weight and length–length relationships and condition factors for two mudskippers, Periophthalmus modestus and Periophthalmus magnuspinnatus, on the tidal flats of Korea. Values of the exponent b, estimated by nonlinear least squares from weight and length data, were 3.031 for P. modestus and 3.044 for P. magnuspinnatus. All relationships between total and standard length were linear (r2 > 0.974). The condition factors were significantly higher during the post‐spawning season than at other times for both species.  相似文献

The present study reports the length‐weight relationship (LWRs) of two cyprinid fishes, Hypselobarbus thomassi (Day, 1874) and Hypselobarbus kurali (Menon & Rema Devi, 1995) from River Kallada, Southern Western Ghats, India. About 182 samples of H. thomassi (10.7–60.4 cm TL) and 108 samples of H. kurali (9.8–27.0 cm TL) were collected on a monthly basis between August 2015 to July 2016 using gill nets (1.5–12.0 cm). The ‘b’ values in LWRs were determined as 2.96 for H. thomassi and 2.93 for H. kurali. No previous information is available on LWR data for these two species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships were estimated for two fishes [Lepidotrigla alata (Houttuyn, 1782), Sirembo imberbis (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846)] from the estuary of the Pearl River. All fish specimens were collected seasonally with commercial trawls (5 cm main trawl and 5 cm codend mesh) from March 2013 to July 2015. The present study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of three cichlids (Crenicichla lepidota, Cichlasoma portalegrense and Geophagus brasiliensis) collected in a system of pools of the largest estuarine island of Patos lagoon, southern Brazil. Fishes were sampled during random field trips performed from April 2015 to April 2016, using a beach seine (net 5 × 2 m; mesh size 5 mm) and a hand net (diameter 45 cm, mesh size 2 mm). This study presents the first report of length–weight relationships (LWRs) for Uranoscopus guttatus and Lagocephalus inermis from the Iranian coast on the Gulf of Oman. A wide range of body lengths and weights were obtained using samples from non‐selective trawling surveys. A new species of mudskipper,Periophthalmus spilotus, is described on the basis of 16 specimens from Sumatra, Indonesia. It differs from other species ofPeriophthalmus by the following combination of characters: pelvic fins totally united into rounded disk; first dorsal fin high, greyish, no spots on fin nor elongate spines; second dorsal fin typically with 14 total elements; anal fin typically with either 14 or 15 total elements; length of anal-fin base 21.8–29.0% SL; and length of second dorsal-fin base 22.5–26.7% SL. This species is most similar to, and probably most closely related to,P. chrysospilos.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for 4 deep water fish species from Visakhapatnam coast, India. Specimens were collected fortnightly between December 2013 and November 2015 from commercial trawls at Visakhapatnam fish landing centre (16.98°N–20.2°N, Long.82.19°–86.53°E). Individuals were captured between 100 and 300 m depth with shrimp trawl net (head rope length: 37–46 m and cod end mesh size: 30–40 mm). Total length (TL) (nearest to 0.1 cm) and body weights (nearest to 0.1 g) were taken each individual. All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from 0.958 for Uranoscopus bicinctus Temminkc & Schlegel, 1843 to 0.983 for Uranoscopus chinensis Guichenot, 1882 and “b” values ranged from 2.832 for U. bicinctus to 3. 402 Synodus indicus (Day, 1873).This study provides a new maximum length data for three species (Uranoscopus bicinctus Temminkc & Schlegel, 1843; Uranoscopus chinensis Guichenot, 1882 and Uranoscopus marmoratus Cuvier, 1829).  相似文献

The present study provides the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of two Ambassid fish species, Parambassis dayi (Bleeker, 1874) and Parambassis thomassi (Day, 1870) from River Pamba in Southern Western Ghats, India. Fishes were collected on a monthly basis between April 2014 to March 2015 using gill nets (1.0–3.0 cm), cast nets (1.0–2.0 cm) and seine nets (1.0 cm). The present study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of two clupeoid fish species, Thryssa malabarica (Bloch, 1795) and Thryssa dayi Wongratana, 1983 from Kerala waters, southwest coast of India during the period October 2015 to September 2016. Altogether 88 specimens of T. malabarica and 97 T. dayi were collected on weekly basis from gill nets (mesh size, 2.6–5.0 cm) and ring seines (mesh size, 0.8–2.6 cm) during the period. The value of parameter b in the equation of LWRs was estimated as 3.237 and 3.248 for T. malabarica and T. dayi respectively.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of two endemic Channid fish species, Channa aurantimaculata Musikasinthorn, 2000 and C. stewartii (Playfair, 1867) were studied from Brahmaputra River basin in Assam, India. Sampling was done from May to December, 2017 and a total of 81 fish specimens were collected using bamboo traps. In the LWRs, b value for C. aurantimaculata and C. stewartii were 3.0456 and 2.9172 respectively. Maximum size recorded for C. aurantimaculata in the present study (34.1 cm) was higher than previous record in FishBase (19.1 cm).  相似文献

This study investigates length‐weight and length‐length relationships of two species of the tropical shads, Tenualosa macrura (Bleeker, 1852) and Tenualosa toli (Valenciennes, 1847) collected from the coastal waters of Sadong (1°30′59.4”N and 110°44′46.4”E) and Sebuyau (1°31′26.8”N and 110°58′05.8”E), Sarawak, Malaysia. The fish were captured using gill nets (mesh size range 5–12 cm) operated by mechanized boat along the coast of Sadong and Sebuyau, Sarawak. Relative growth coefficient (b) was 2.942 and 3.408 for males and females of T. macrura while 2.909 and 3.178 for males and females of T. toli. All LWRs were significant (p < .05) between sexes for both species with the coefficient of determination (R2) ranging from .85 to .99. This report provides the reference of length weight relationship (LWR) models for the two species in their range of distribution.  相似文献

This study reports the length–weight relationship (LWR) and length‐length relationship (LLR) estimated for four fish species inhabiting in Chilika Lake, India. Total 504 specimens were sampled from mono‐filament gill nets (mesh size 12 mm, 22–24 mm, 34–38 mm, 42 mm) during January 2015 to December 2015. The estimated b values from LWR ranged between 2.79 (T. biaculeatus) to 3.29 (C. praeustus). In all species, the relationships between length‐weight and length‐length were highly correlated (p < .05). The study provides first world reports on LWRs and LLRs for all the 4 studied species.  相似文献

The present study reports the Length‐Weight relationships of three freshwater fish species, Amblyceps laticeps (McClelland, 1842), Danio dangila (Hamilton, 1822) and Lepidocephalichthys berdmorei (Blyth, 1860), based on monthly collections between November 2016 and October 2017. Fishes were collected from selected sampling sites along the Jatinga River (a tributary of the Barak River drainage) using cast nets (2.5 m; mesh size: 1.0–1.5 cm) and electrofishing device (Safari Surveyor, 12 V 7 amp). The present investigation gives the length‐weight relationship (LWR) of Puntius shalynius in Meghalaya, India. The samples for the study were collected from Umiam river. The value of the exponent ‘b’ in the LWR was less than 3, with 0.885 for males and 1.616 in females. This shows that the species exhibit allometric growth pattern. There was no difference in LWR between sexes and seasons.  相似文献

This study presents length‐weight relationships (LWR) for six species of fishes of the Suborder Notothenioidei that inhabit the sub‐Antarctic waters of the Beagle Channel (Argentina). These species represent five of the nine families of this Suborder. The specimens belong to historical fish collections in the area (from 1987 to 1990) using gill and trammel nets. All species but Eleginops maclovinus had no previous LWR estimates. The coefficient of determination (r2) ranged from 0.91 to 0.99 and b values ranged from 2.74 to 3.2. Harpagifer bispinis was the only species with a b value lower than three. This information is useful to predict the weight from the length data and to provide insights into the ecology of sub‐Antarctic nototheniod fish.  相似文献
