Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) are described for 10 fish species belonging to three families from the Gaula River, a tributary of the Ganga River Basin in India. LWRs for these species were unknown to FishBase, and new maximum lengths are recorded for one species. These results will be useful for fishery research, management and conservation in the least‐explored tributary of the Ganga River Basin.  相似文献

This paper provides length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for four freshwater cyprinid fish species, namely Barilius bendelisis (Hamilton, 1807), Bangana dero (Hamilton, 1807), Chagunius chagunio (Hamilton, 1807) and Labeo dyocheilus (McClelland, 1839) from the Kosi River, a tributary of the River Ganga in northern India. Altogether 848 specimens were caught bimonthly (for B. bendelisis) and quarterly for the other three species between March 2013 and December 2014 using cast nets (9 m length, 9 m width and 1/2 cm mesh size). LWRs for two of the four species (B. dero and C. chagunio) are recorded for the first time. The present study results will be useful for fishery researchers, management and conservation in this least‐explored tributary of the Ganga River Basin.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for three fish species from the River Ganga (India) is presented. Sampling was conducted from the lower stretch of the River Ganga (Patna: 25°36′51.66″N & 85°12′7.02″E to Freserganj: 21°35′40.58″N & 88°15′28.92″E) during April, June and September and December of 2017. Specimens were caught using gill nets (18 nos.; mesh 18–32 mm), and bag nets (3 nos.; mesh 14–22 mm). The values a and b from LWRs ‐were found to be 0.007 and 2.977 for Eutropiichthys murius; 0.003 and 3.001 for Coilia reynaldi; 0.009 and 3.010 for Johnius gangeticus.  相似文献

This study provides the first report of length–weight relationships (LWRs) for two fish species, Glyptothorax kashmirensis and Crossocheilus diplochilus, collected from the Poonch River, one of the lesser tributaries to the Indus basin in India. This work describes the length–weight relationship (LWR) of 37 fish species from the Taquari River, one of the tributaries of the Jurumirim Reservoir in the high Paranapanema Basin, São Paulo, Brazil. Information was not yet available in FishBase on LWRs of 22 of the fish species and maximum weights (Wt) of 24 of the fish species. New maximum standard lengths are presented for nine species as well as weights for two fish species.  相似文献

The present study reports on length-weight relationships (LWRs) for 37 of the most abundant fish species in the Lefini River basin, one of the largest right bank tributaries of the Congo River in the Republic of the Congo. The study area comprised 12 stations along 103 km of the river. Each station was sampled during March 2007 to August 2008 following standardized methods utilizing five monofilament gill nets of 10, 12, 15, 20 and 30 mm mesh size. Sample size, lengths, weights, LWRs, 95% confidence intervals of a and b, coefficient of correlation r2 and growth type are provided for each species. Values of allometric coefficient b of the LWRs (W = aSLb) ranged from 2.556 for Synodontis nigriventris to 3.363 for Brycinus poptae. These results represent the first study of length-weight relationships for fish species in a large affluent of the Congo basin as a whole.  相似文献

Length‐weight (LWRs) and length–length (LLRs) relationships are reported for five fish species belonging to two families and five genera from the Dadu River and its tributaries, southwest China. In total, 605 specimens were collected by electrofishing and gillnets (mesh size ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 cm) in May and October 2013, May and October 2014, May and November 2015, and April and October 2016. The b‐values for LWRs varied from 2.571 to 2.952 (r2 > .915). The results further indicated that the LLRs were highly correlated (r2 > .978; < .01). The two LWRs, five LLRs, and two maximum lengths are presented to FishBase for the first time. This biometric data and their relationships are relevant to the management and conservation of local fishes and fisheries.  相似文献

Length‐weight and length‐length relationships were estimated for four native fish species from the Yalong River and its tributaries, China. A total of 976 specimens were collected monthly using trap nets and electric fishing in May 2013 and July 2015 to February 2016. This study presents the first references on LWRs (length–weight relationships) and LLRs (length–length relationships) for three species (Gymnocypris firmispinatus, Paracobitis variegatus and Euchiloglanis kishinouyei). Moreover, maturation length, absolute fecundity and predominant food items for the four species were also described in the study.  相似文献

The length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were studied of 588 fish covering eight families, 13 genera and 14 species (Notopterus notopterus, Gudusia chapra, Labeo calbasu, Puntius sarana, Cirrhinus mrigala, Ompok bimaculatus, Mystus tengara, Mystus cavasius, Sperata aor, Sperata seenghala, Eutropiichthys vacha, Wallago attu, Rhinomugil corsula, and Mastacembelus armatus) captured in the Betwa River (tributary of the Yamuna River) and Gomti River (tributary of the Ganga River) from December 2007 to January 2009. The b values varied between 2.4 (M. armatus) and 3.52 (P. sarana), with the mean b = 2.96 at P < 0.001 for all species. The observations are significant for conservation and management because the Betwa River has been approved under India’s first interlinking plan with the Ken River, and no length‐weight data had thus far been reported for the Gomti River. The objective was to evaluate the LWRs of these two unstudied rivers for fisheries management.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for five endemic fish species from the Yalong and Wujiang rivers (tributaries of the Yangtze River, China): Folifer brevifilis (Peters, 1881), Pelteobagrus ussuriensis (Dybowski, 1872), Schistura fasciolata (Nichols & Pope, 1927), Triplophysa daqiaoensis (Ding, 1993) and Triplophysa orientalis (Herzenstein, 1888). Samples were obtained between April 2004 and July 2014 using various fishing gear (set nets, drift gill nets, fish cages, hook and electro fishing). For each specimen from each species the sample size was recorded, total length and weight were measured and the LWR determined. Further, the 95% confidence intervals of a and b, and coefficient of correlation were estimated. Prior to this study, the LWRs for these five species were unknown.  相似文献

This study provides the first report of length–weight relationships (LWRs) for three fish species collected from the Yalong River, one of the tributaries to the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, China. The LWRs of these fish species were BW = 0.0070TL3.0539 (r2 = 0.9662) for Schizothorax wangchiachii, BW=0.0134TL2.8523 (r2 = 0.9676) for Schizopygopsis malacanthus, and BW=0.0143TL2.9253 (r2 = 0.8538) for Euchiloglanis kishinouyei, respectively. Also investigated were the spawning season, absolute fecundity and main food items of the three fish species in the natural environment. Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for four fish species from the River Ganga (India) is presented. Sampling was conducted in the lower stretch of the river (Buxar: 25°33′43.90″N and 83°56′3.10″E to Freserganj: 21°35′40.58″N and 88°15′28.92″E) on tri‐monthly basis from September 2016 to December 2017. Specimens were caught in gill nets (mesh, 18–68 mm), cast nets (mesh, 12–14 mm), seine nets (mesh, 12–14 mm) and various traditional traps those were put over night and lifted in early morning. Total length and wet body weight of fish were measured to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.01 g by a digital caliper and electronic balance respectively. From LWRs, the estimated b values were found to be 2.88 (Pisodonophis boro) to 3.17 (Gagata sexualis) whereas a value ranged from 0.001 (Pisodonophis boro) to 0.009 (Botia lohachata). As per FishBase, the species Gagata sexualis and Botia lohachata had new TLmax reported for LWR estimation.  相似文献

The length‐weight relationships (LWRs) are described for 29 fish species in the region of the Tucuruí Reservoir, located in the Tocantins/Araguaia Basin, northern Brazil. Fishes in fourteen sites were sampled seasonally for 10 years, from 2001 to 2010. Significant differences between sexes were found for two species, while 27 species had similar LWRs for males and females. The relationship of standard length and total length is presented for all species as well as the minimum and average size of reproductive females and seasonality of occurrence. No information on LWRs of these 29 species was heretofore available in FishBase.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWR) using 3876 individuals were determined for 39 species sampled in estuarine systems in the main Hawaiian Islands, including 33 species of fish from 21 families, five species of crustaceans (prey) from two families, and one mollusk species. For 17 species, LWRs were estimated for the first time. For another 14 species their LWRs were newly reported for Hawaiian waters, including seven introduced taxa that are well established in the islands' estuaries. The LWRs for all taxa include juvenile and sub‐adult size ranges commonly encountered in Hawaiian estuaries.  相似文献

The present study provides the length–weight relationships (LWRs) for 64 fish species belonging to eight families from the lower sections of Wujiang River, a tributary of the upper Yangtze River in China. LWRs for eight of these species are unknown to FishBase and new maximum body weights are recorded for 25 species. In addition, some basic biological information on 64 fish species is also summarized. Length–weight relationships (LWRs) for 23 freshwater fish species from the Andean Amazon piedmont in Peru are presented in this study. Fishes were captured between 2009 and 2010 on lagoons from three basins; Amazonas (Ampiyacu and Apayacu) and Ucayali (Pachitea) using gillnets. In this study, new LWRs are reported for 20 species of 23 species analyzed. The study provides new information on less‐studied species and can serve as a basis for management of fisheries and conservation of this area.  相似文献
