The present study describes the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for four fish species, collected from the Brahmaputra and Barak river basins in northeast India using cast nets (2.5 × 1 m; 10–15 mm mesh size) and gillnets (30 × 0.9 m; 5–10 mm mesh size), from June 2016 to July 2017. The b values in LWRs were determined as 2.70 for Badis tuivaiei Vishwanath & Shanta, 2004, 2.93 for Canthophrys gongota (Hamilton, 1822), 2.62 for Glyptothorax botius (Hamilton, 1822), and 3.22 for Gogangra viridescens (Hamilton, 1822).  相似文献

Length–weight relationships were determined for two small indigenous cyprinid fishes: Osteobrama cotio (Hamilton, 1822) and Salmophasia phulo (Hamilton, 1822) collected from Panchet reservoir, Damodar River, India. About 143 specimens of Osteobrama cotio (5.2–10.4 cm TL) and 113 specimens of Salmophasia phulo (2.9–8.2 cm TL) were collected from November 2014 to June 2016 using gillnets of mesh size ranging from 25 to 120 mm (STR) and dragnets of mesh size 10–20 mm (STR). No previous information on LWRs for these two species from an Indian reservoir was available in the literature.  相似文献

Length‐Weight relationships (LWRs) for three Cyprinids (Chela cachius, Devario devario and Securicula gora) collected seasonally from May 2016 to January 2017 along the lower Brahmaputra drainage in Assam (Northeast India), using fishing gears [cast nets: 2.5 m, 10–15 mm mesh size; gillnets: 30 × 0.9 m, 18–20 mm mesh size], were estimated. The ‘b’ values of the LWR estimates ranged from 3.39 for C.  cachius, 3.14 for D.  devario, and 2.97 for S.  gora respectively.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three fish species: Scomberomorus commerson, Alepes vari, and A. kleinii were estimated from Kerala waters, south‐west coast of India. Fish were captured between June 2016 and June 2017 by various gears such as ring seine (8–26 mm mesh size), trawl (30–40 mm cod end mesh size), hook and line (hook number VI–XII), smaller mesh sized drift gill net (26–90 mm) and larger one (120–170 mm) for bigger size fishes. Fish were collected on weekly basis from Cochin Fisheries Harbour (Lat. 09°56′327″N, Long. 76°15′764″E), Munambam Fisheries Harbour (Lat. 10°10′965″N, Long. 76°10′258″E), Kalamukku (Lat. 09°59′924″N, Long. 76°14′564″E) and Chellanam (Lat. 09°47′950″N, Long. 76°16′551″E). All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from 0.944 to 0.996 and b values ranged from 2.722 to 3.021 (< .001). In addition, this study provides the information on LWRs and new maximum size for Alepes vari and A. kleinii.  相似文献

In the present study the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of 6 fish species which are endemic to Western Greece, caught in the natural Lake Trichonis by experimental gillnets and electrofishing were estimated. Benthic (mesh size 5–55 mm; height 1.5 m; length 30 m) and pelagic (mesh size 6.25–55 mm; height 6 m; length 27.5 m) Nordic type multimesh gillnets were used seasonally, between February 2019 and November 2019, at different depth zones (0-57m). Electrofishing (80 Hz) conducted in the littoral zone of the lake during four samplings (2018, 2019). All the estimated LWRs were highly significant (p < .05) with high correlation coefficient (r2 ≥ 0.962). The estimated b values ranged from 3.058 to 3.344. For five of the studied species (Trichonis spined loach (Cobitis trichonica Stephanidis 1974), Trichonis blenny (Salaria economidisi Kottelat 2004), Trichonis rudd (Scardinius acarnanicus Economidis 1991), Acheloos roach (Leucos panosi (Bogutskaya & Iliadou 2006)) , Hellenic minnowroach (Tropidophoxinellus hellenicus (Stephanidis 1971)) new maximum total body lengths (TL) were recorded, while for two species (T. hellenicus and L. panosi) LWRs are presented for the first time.  相似文献

The present study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of three cichlids (Crenicichla lepidota, Cichlasoma portalegrense and Geophagus brasiliensis) collected in a system of pools of the largest estuarine island of Patos lagoon, southern Brazil. Fishes were sampled during random field trips performed from April 2015 to April 2016, using a beach seine (net 5 × 2 m; mesh size 5 mm) and a hand net (diameter 45 cm, mesh size 2 mm). The present study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of two clupeoid fish species, Thryssa malabarica (Bloch, 1795) and Thryssa dayi Wongratana, 1983 from Kerala waters, southwest coast of India during the period October 2015 to September 2016. Altogether 88 specimens of T. malabarica and 97 T. dayi were collected on weekly basis from gill nets (mesh size, 2.6–5.0 cm) and ring seines (mesh size, 0.8–2.6 cm) during the period. The value of parameter b in the equation of LWRs was estimated as 3.237 and 3.248 for T. malabarica and T. dayi respectively.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) are presented for 11 deep‐sea fishes caught in the western Bay of Bengal and Andaman waters during August 2010 using a 38 m high speed demersal trawl II (HSDT II, crustacean version, codend mesh size 40 mm) and a 45.6 m Expo model demersal trawl (codend mesh size 30 mm). The b values ranged from 2.34 to 3.3 and the coefficient of variation (r2) ranged from .82 to .98. LWR estimates of eight deep‐sea fishes are provided for the first time. The estimated LWR values were compared with the Bayesian LWR estimates available in FishBase, based on models developed to improve the accuracy and predictability of species‐specific growth parameters of data‐poor species.  相似文献

Current study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of three marine fish species collected from the fishermen catches covering three seasons i.e., rainy, autumn and winter between June, 2016 and February, 2017. Fishermen caught the species using beach seine net (3.5 cm mesh size) and set bag net (0.5 cm mesh size) up to 200 m far away from the shoreline. The LWRs for fish species were W = 0.0180TL3.192 for A. longispinnis, W = 0.0109TL2.971 for R. russeliana and W = 0.0098TL2.942 for C. neglecta with their r2 values of 0.971, 0.962 and 0.997, respectively.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for three fish species: Zebrias zebrinus (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846), Setipinna termuifilis (Valenciennes, 1848) and Pampus echinogaster (Basilewsky, 1855). Samples were collected from the coastal waters of Yellow Sea, China, from early April to mid–April 2017 using bottom trawl nets (20 mm stretched mesh size of cod‐end) and set nets (15.6 mesh size). The study describes length‐weight relationships (LWRs) and length‐length relationships (LLRs) for two species of fishes, namely Balitora brucei Gray, 1830 and Psilorhynchus balitora (Hamilton, 1822) collected from Ranganadi river in Lakhimpur district of Assam, India for which no LWRs and LLRs are available. While sampling monthly between April 2012 and July 2016, a total of 987 specimens were collected (B. brucei = 427, and P. balitora = 560). Cast nets were used (2 ‐ 10 mm mesh sizes; 2–2.5 m length). The values of the parameter slope (b) in the LWR were determined as 3.194 (male = 3.047 and female = 3.224) for B. brucei and 3.490 (male = 3.480 and female = 3.502) for P. balitora. Present investigation reports new maximum total length for both the fishes.  相似文献

This study presents the first report of length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for five fish species (Parabotia fasciata, Megalobrama mantschuricus, Plagiognathops microlepis, Rhodeus sinensis, Rhodeus fangi) and maximum total lengths for four species from the Qingjiang River, Yangtze River basin, China. Specimens were sampled in six sections along the Qingjiang River over a period of 1 year between April 2016 and March 2017 with gill nets (150 × 10 m; mesh size: 1–14 cm), benthic fyke nets (mouth opening: 12 × 12 cm; 10 m; mesh size: 1 cm) and stationary lift nets (10 × 10 m; mesh size: 0.8 cm).  相似文献

The present study describes the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of two cichlid fish species, Etroplus suratensis (Bloch, 1790) and Etroplus maculatus (Bloch, 1795) collected from Vembanad Lake, Kerala, India during the period June 2012 to May 2013 using gill nets with various mesh sizes (3.5–9 cm) and cast nets with a 1.5 cm mesh size. The length–weight relationships (LWRs) for six species were estimated. Fish were captured in the mangroves of Qinzhou Harbour, China, but also some specimens were purchased from fishermen. The sampling was undertaken monthly between May 2011 and April 2012 using seines (mesh size 5–10 mm; height 4 m; length 400 m) and traps (mesh size 8.5 mm; 35 cm2 × 10 m for one unit) at seven sampling sites. Standard length was measured (precision 0.1 cm) and weight determined (precision 0.01 g) after preservation in formaldehyde (10%). Besides the equation parameters a (intercept) and b (slope) we determined also the 95% confidence limits for both parameters as well as the coefficient of correlation.  相似文献

The length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for three freshwater fish species in catchment area of Hoiya River, Republic of Korea, were analyzed. Fish samples were collected quarterly using scoop‐nets (5 mm mesh size), casting nets (7 mm mesh size) from 2017 to 2018. For LWRs using the general equation from Froese (2006), the parameter b ranges from 3.14 (Oryzias latipes) to 3.37 (Iksookimia longicorpa). Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for five indigenous fish species under five genera and two families, namely Cyprinion semiplotum (McClelland, 1839), Barilius barna (Hamilton, 1822), Barilius barila (Hamilton, 1822), Gagata sexualis Tilak, 1970 and Pseudolaguvia shawi (Hora, 1921) were studied from Torsa River in West Bengal, India. Sampling was done at quarterly intervals from November, 2015 to December, 2016 and a total of 701 fish specimens were collected using cast nets (mesh size of 15–20 mm), gill nets (mesh size 20–35 mm) and bamboo traps. In the present study, b value ranges from 2.686 to 3.268. LWRs for these fish species (except P. shawi) have not been reported in FishBase. A new maximum length has been recorded for P. Shawi and G. sexualis. The relative condition factor (Kn) values was found to range from 1.004 to 1.028.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for three fish species (Gymnodiptychus pachycheilus (Herzenstein, 1892), Triplophysa bleekeri (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant, 1874) and Triplophysa pseudostenura (He, Zhang & Song, 2012)) from the Yalong River in China. Samples were obtained between March 2009 and July 2013 using gillnets (25 × 12 m, mesh size 0.5 cm) and fish cages (0.5 × 0.5 × 10 m, mesh size 0.5 cm mesh). For each species, the sample size, length range, weight range, LWR, 95% confidence intervals of a and b, and coefficient of correlation were determined. This study provides length–weight relationships (LWRs) for three flatfish species: Cynoglossus bilineatus (Lacepède, 1802), Solea elongata (Day, 1877), and Pseudorhombus elevatus (Ogilby, 1912) from Motaf fishing grounds (latitude 27°00′ to 28°03′N; longitude 51°41′ to 52°11′E), Bushehr province, Iran. A total of 103 fish specimens were collected using shrimp trawler with 40 mm (stretched mesh size) at depths of 10–30 m between August and September 2017. Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were evaluated for three endemic fish species (Sinibrama taeniatus Nichols, 1941; Ancherythroculter nigrocauda Yin & Wu, 1964; and Acrossocheilus monticola Günther, 1888) from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, southwestern China. Samples were collected using gill nets (25 × 12 m, mesh‐size 2.0 cm) and fishing cages (0.5 × 0.5 × 10 m, mesh‐size 1.0 cm) as well as by electroshock (CWB‐2000 P, 12 V, 250 Hz), from July to September in 2013–2016. Prior to this study, the LWRs for these three species (S. taeniatus, A. nigrocauda and A. monticola) were unknown. In addition, new maximum size for A. nigrocauda and A. monticola were provided.  相似文献

The length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three endangered tidal pool fishes, Spratelloides gracilis (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846), Atherion elymus Jordan & Starks, 1901, and Enneapterygius etheostomus (Jordan & Snyder, 1902), from Jeju Island, Korea, were analysed. A total of 280 specimens were sampled using hand nets (mesh size 1 mm) or by dredge (mesh size 5 mm) from July 2015 to July 2016.
