Current study provides basic information on Length–weight relationship (LWR) and length‐length relationship (LLR) of three fish species of genus Thryssa (Clupeiformes: Engraulidae) i.e., Thryssa purava (Hamilton, 1822), Thryssa polybranchialis Wongratana, 1983 and Thryssa mystax (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) from Chilika Lagoon, India. Samples were collected during the monsoon (July) and post‐monsoon (November) seasons in 2016 and during the pre‐monsoon season (May) in 2017, using screen barrier nets (mesh size 8–18 mm) and gill nets (mesh size 14 and 16 mm). The b values were determined from LWRs as 3.026 for Thryssa purava, 3.326 for Thryssa polybranchialis and 3.081 for Thryssa mystax.  相似文献

The present study provides the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of two Ambassid fish species, Parambassis dayi (Bleeker, 1874) and Parambassis thomassi (Day, 1870) from River Pamba in Southern Western Ghats, India. Fishes were collected on a monthly basis between April 2014 to March 2015 using gill nets (1.0–3.0 cm), cast nets (1.0–2.0 cm) and seine nets (1.0 cm). The b values in the LWRs were estimated as 3.01 for P. dayi and 3.14 for P. thomassi. No previous information is available on LWRs for these two species in FishBase.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for nine freshwater fish species collected three times using a scoop net (mesh size 0.3–0.5 cm), cast net (mesh size 1–1.5 cm) and gillnet (mesh size 2.5–4.5 cm) from six rivers of the Western Ghats of India during August 2017–October 2018. The b values for LWRs varied from 2.862 to 3.656 (R2 > 0.916 and p < 0.0001 for all species).  相似文献

The present study describes the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of two cichlid fish species, Etroplus suratensis (Bloch, 1790) and Etroplus maculatus (Bloch, 1795) collected from Vembanad Lake, Kerala, India during the period June 2012 to May 2013 using gill nets with various mesh sizes (3.5–9 cm) and cast nets with a 1.5 cm mesh size. The values of parameters b in the LWR equation were estimated as 2.67 for E. suratensis and 2.72 for E. maculatus, respectively.  相似文献

The present study was undertaken with the objective to estimate the length‐weight Relationships (LWRs) for four species collected from the Brahmaputra River, Assam, India. The fish samples were collected quarterly from different sampling sites using gill net (mesh size ranges 1–1.5 cm, locally called Mola lungi jal), cast net (mesh size ranges 1.0–2.0 cm, locally called Kevalijal) and triangular dip nets (mesh size ranges 0.75–1.25 cm locally called khorajal) during the time period between May, 2016 to April, 2018 (2 years). The b value of the LWR ranged from 3.028 (for Parambasis lala) to 3.196 (for Psilorynchus balitora). In this study the relationship between length‐weight were highly correlated (p < 0.05).  相似文献

This study evaluated the length-weight relationships (LWRs) for three teleost fish species sampled from the Stung Russei Chrum River basin, Kingdom of Cambodia. The fish were collected during two dry seasons (April 2019 and November 2019) and one rainy season (October 2018) using monofilament trammel nets (2–12 cm mesh size), cast net (mesh size 2 cm) and scoop-nets (mesh size with 0.3 cm). Results showed that all fitted regressions were highly significant and the coefficients of determination (r2) were high. This study expanded the value of maximum total length for Cyclocheilichthys apogon and Poropuntius laoensis while reported the wider ranges of total mass for Poropuntius laoensis. Moreover, our present study also provided the novel LWRs records for Hemibagrus filamemtus.  相似文献

The length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three freshwater fish species from the Kangsabati and Rupnaryan river in West Bengal, India are presented, namely as Amblypharyngodon microlepis (Bleeker, 1853), Parambassis lala (Hamilton, 1822) and Macrognathus aculeatus (Bloch, 1786). Gill‐nets (mesh sizes with 0.5 cm–4 cm), cast‐nets (up to 1 × 1 cm mesh size with up to 4.0 m2 area) and scoop‐nets (0.3 × 0.3 cm and 0.5 × 0.5 cm mesh size) were used from January, 2017 to April, 2018. Sampling was done every 15 days during this period. The value of parameter “b” ranged from 2.751 to 2.895 with highly significant correlations (r2 > 0.95).  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for three small fish species, Glaridoglanis andersonii (Day, 1870), Glyptosternum maculatum (Regan, 1905) and Pseudecheneis sulcatus (Mc‐Clelland, 1842) from the Yarlung Zangbo River basin, China. A total of 285 specimens were collected from the Yarlung Zangbo River in May and October 2017(frequency of sampling during the study period: once per month).The specimens were caught with fishing gear including drifting gillnets (nets: 10 × 1.0 m; mesh size: 3.0 cm) and shrimp cages (nets: 4.0 × 0.5 × 0.4 m; mesh size: 0.5 cm).  相似文献

The present study narrated the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three fish species Salmophasia sardinella (Valenciennes, 1844), Amblypharyngodon microlepis (Bleeker, 1853) and Macrognathus aral (Bloch & Scheider, 1801) from the Arial Khan River, a south‐eastward outlet of the river Padma, Bangladesh. Fish samples were collected monthly basis from fishermen who used cast nets (mesh size <0.5 cm) and set bag nets (mesh size 0.5 cm) for catching fish species from January to December, 2016. The growth coefficient b in LWRs were 3.004, 3.001 and 2.936 for M. aral, S. sardinella and A. microlepis, respectively.  相似文献

In the present study, the LWRs investigations were conducted for five fish species from Weizhou Island for four times seasonally during the period from April 2017 to January 2018. Samples were obtained using gillnets (25 × 12 m, mesh size 0.5 cm), trawl nets (50 × 12 m, mesh size 0.5 cm) and fishhooks (0.5 × 0.5 × 10 m, mesh size 0.5 cm mesh). Results indicate that mean LWR parameters b for these five coral reef fish varied from 2.847 to 3.525 and r2 values varied from 0.972 to 0.988.  相似文献

This study presents the first report of length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for five fish species (Parabotia fasciata, Megalobrama mantschuricus, Plagiognathops microlepis, Rhodeus sinensis, Rhodeus fangi) and maximum total lengths for four species from the Qingjiang River, Yangtze River basin, China. Specimens were sampled in six sections along the Qingjiang River over a period of 1 year between April 2016 and March 2017 with gill nets (150 × 10 m; mesh size: 1–14 cm), benthic fyke nets (mouth opening: 12 × 12 cm; 10 m; mesh size: 1 cm) and stationary lift nets (10 × 10 m; mesh size: 0.8 cm).  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for three fish species (Gymnodiptychus pachycheilus (Herzenstein, 1892), Triplophysa bleekeri (Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant, 1874) and Triplophysa pseudostenura (He, Zhang & Song, 2012)) from the Yalong River in China. Samples were obtained between March 2009 and July 2013 using gillnets (25 × 12 m, mesh size 0.5 cm) and fish cages (0.5 × 0.5 × 10 m, mesh size 0.5 cm mesh). For each species, the sample size, length range, weight range, LWR, 95% confidence intervals of a and b, and coefficient of correlation were determined. Length–weight relationships were determined for two small indigenous cyprinid fishes: Osteobrama cotio (Hamilton, 1822) and Salmophasia phulo (Hamilton, 1822) collected from Panchet reservoir, Damodar River, India. About 143 specimens of Osteobrama cotio (5.2–10.4 cm TL) and 113 specimens of Salmophasia phulo (2.9–8.2 cm TL) were collected from November 2014 to June 2016 using gillnets of mesh size ranging from 25 to 120 mm (STR) and dragnets of mesh size 10–20 mm (STR). No previous information on LWRs for these two species from an Indian reservoir was available in the literature.  相似文献

This study reports the length–weight relationships (LWRs) of three Gobiidae fish species (Acentrogobius viridipunctatus, Apocryptes bato, and Odontamblyopus rubicundus) from the Rupsha River, southwestern Bangladesh. A total of 388 individuals were sampled using cast nets (mesh size ranges from 1.5 to 3.0 cm), gill nets (mesh size ranges from 2.0 to 3.0 cm) and square lift nets (mesh size ~1.5 cm) from December 2014 to November 2015. Allometric coefficient (b) values were 3.23 for A. viridipunctatus, 2.70 for A. bato, and 2.67 for O. rubicundus, respectively. The first LWRs records for these three Gobiidae species, they can be used online for FishBase as well as in future studies.  相似文献

This study determined the length–weight relationships (LWRs) and length–length relationships (LLRs) of seven freshwater fish from the Daning River, a tributary of the Yangtze River, southwest China. Specimens were collected between July 2016 and July 2017 using drift gill nets (mesh size 1, 2 and 3 cm), cage net (0.5 cm mesh size) and electroshock fishing techniques quaterly. Parameter b values of LWRs ranged from 2.647 to 3.276 (r2 > .963) and b values of LLRs ranged from 1.091 to 1.213(r2 > .985). Six new LLRs and seven new maximum length data are presented. The biometric data and their relationships are relevant to Fishers science to supplement other data sets needed for fisheries management.  相似文献

The present study reports the length‐weight relationships (LWRs) of three cichlids (Crenicichla lepidota, Cichlasoma portalegrense and Geophagus brasiliensis) collected in a system of pools of the largest estuarine island of Patos lagoon, southern Brazil. Fishes were sampled during random field trips performed from April 2015 to April 2016, using a beach seine (net 5 × 2 m; mesh size 5 mm) and a hand net (diameter 45 cm, mesh size 2 mm). The LWRs (length–weight relationships) of four freshwater fish species from medium categorized Doyang reservoir at Wokha District, Nagaland were studied, namely as Garra naganensis Hora, 1921; Devario naganensis Chaudhuri, 1912; Chagunius nicholsi Myers, 1924 and Schistura manipurensis Chaudhuri, 1912. Fish sample were collected in every 15 days interval by cast-nets (1.0 × 1.0 cm mesh size covering the 4.5 m2 areas), gill-nets (0.4–5.0 cm mesh size), scoop-nets (mesh size with 0.3 × 0.3 cm to 0.6 × 0.6 cm) and also from the local fishermen in between July 2017 to January 2019. This study presents length‐weight relationships (LWRs) for two sympatric species of the subfamily Schizothoracinae (Cyprinidae), Gymnocypris chui and G. scleracanthus, captured in Lake Langcuo in Tibet, China. A total of 193 specimens were collected in June and July of 2014 and 2015 using gill nets of different mesh sizes (mesh size: 2 × 2 cm, 3 × 3 cm). Specimens included 76 G. chui and 117 G. scleracanthus. The values of parameter b in the LWRs equations were estimated as 2.875 for G. chui, and 2.773 for G. scleracanthus, respectively. These are the first LWRs records for the two sympatric species.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships and length–length were evaluated for three fish species (Schizopygopsis younghusbandi Regan, 1905; Ptychobarbus dipogon Regan, 1905 and Oxygymnocypris stewartii Lloyd, 1908) from the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet. Specimens were captured monthly using floating gillnets (mesh size 7.5 cm), bottom gillnets (mesh size 6.5 cm), and trap nets (mesh size 1.5 mm) from August 2008 to August 2009, March to August 2012, and March to April 2013. Regression coefficient (b) values of length–weight relationships (LWRs) ranged from 3.045 for P. dipogon to 3.193 for O. stewartii, whereas the a values ranged from 0.0040 to 0.0168 for O. stewartii and P. dipogon, respectively.  相似文献
