A small irrigation diversion dam near Chiloquin, Oregon, was removed and replaced with a pump station to improve fish passage for Lost River suckers (Deltistes luxatus) and shortnose suckers (Chasmistes brevirostris) entering the Sprague River on their spawning migrations. During the developmental phase of the pump station, a need was identified to better understand the larval drift characteristics of these endangered catostomids in order to reduce entrainment into the irrigation system. The spatial, seasonal, and diel distribution of drifting larvae was measured during the 2004 spawning season at two proposed sites on the Williamson River where the pump station could be located. Larval drift for both species coincided with the irrigation season making them subject to entrainment into the irrigation system. Drift occurred almost exclusively at night with larvae entering the drift at sunset and exiting the drift at sunrise. Nighttime larval densities were concentrated near the surface and at midchannel at both sites. Densities were generally greater on the side of mid-channel with greater flow. During early morning sampling we detected a general shift in larval drift from surface to subsurface drift. We also observed an increase in larval densities towards the shore opposite from the proposed pump station at the upper site whereas larval densities remained high at midchannel at the lower site. During daytime sampling, the few larvae that were collected were distributed throughout the water column at both pump sites. This study found that larvae drifting during all time periods were generally distributed further across the cross section, deeper in the water column, and closer to where the proposed water withdrawal structure would be built at the downstream site when compared to the upstream site. Recommendations were provided to locate the withdrawal facility at the upstream site and operate it in a manner such that larval entrainment would likely be minimized.  相似文献

We studied life history and secondary production of Cheumatopsyche spp. (Trichoptera: Hydropsychidae) in StroublesCreek, a 3rd order stream near Blacksburg, Virginia to compare lifehistories and production dynamics in two reaches with differentland-uses. The upstream reach was influenced by agriculturalactivities and more annual degree-days accumulated in this sectionof the stream. The downstream reach was surrounded by forest,received less thermal input than the upstream reach, and showedlittle evidence of human disturbance. Differences between the twosites included a shift in dominant taxa and changes in voltinismand production of hydropsychids. Cheumatopsyche pettiti(Banks) was dominant at the upstream site, while C. pettitiand Cheumatopsyche oxa Ross were both abundant downstream.Cheumatopsyche larvae and other aquatic insects had higherdensities at the forested downstream site. C. pettiti wasbivoltine at the upstream site, but C. pettiti and C. oxa were partially bivoltine downstream, with a small summergeneration overlapping with continuous emergence of overwinteringlarvae. Cheumatopsyche production at the two sites inStroubles Creek was higher than in forested, low-order streams ofNorth America, but similar to some values obtained at streams inagricultural areas and large rivers. Production was higher at thedownstream site, but the superior bivoltinism at the upstream sitecounterbalanced, to some extent, the increase in larval densitythat caused higher production downstream. The adjustment in lifehistory and production dynamics, in the two reaches, showed theecological plasticity of Cheumatopsyche and the importance ofhydropsychids in the energy flow of moderately disturbedstreams.  相似文献

The bayou darter, Etheostoma rubrum (Percidae), is endemic to the Bayou Pierre system in Mississippi. Adult and juvenile E. rubrum occupy swift, shallow riffles or runs over coarse gravel and pebble substrata. Habitat requirements of larval and post-larval stages, and the role of downstream dispersal of larvae in colonizing riffles are poorly known. The potential for movement and the high level of habitat specificity for the discontinuous riffle habitat suggest that E. rubrum may comprise a metapopulation of linearly arranged local populations. The greatest population densities of E. rubrum occur in the upper reaches of Bayou Pierre. We hypothesized that metapopulation structure of E. rubrum may include source–sink dynamics, whereby downstream areas are a sink for larvae/early juveniles originating upstream. We tested hypotheses that a transport mechanism, larval drift, occurred in E. rubrum, and that downstream riffles showed characteristics of population sinks. We captured larval stages of E. rubrum in cross-sectional and longitudinal drift nets, and rates of drift tended to increase during the day. Larval E. rubrum (n=19) occurred in samples above and below riffle areas, with no differences among longitudinal drift nets placed above and below riffles. Thus, larval drift is a viable transport mechanism. Relative abundance of adults and juveniles declined from upstream to downstream, and inter-riffle distances increased with cumulative downstream distance. However, both predictions of the source–sink hypothesis were not supported. The distribution of size classes did not change between upstream and downstream riffles nor did the mean size-adjusted body mass.  相似文献

SUMMARY. The effects of a sewage effluent discharge into the River Cole, Birmingham, were determined by regular collections of water and biological samples from six comparable stations, one above and five below the sewage effluent. The effluent reduced the dissolved oxygen concentration and increased the ammonia, orthophosphate and BOD concentrations in the water. The effects were much more severe during the summer.
The Chironomidae were very important constituents of the benthic macroinvertebrate community at the stations downstream of the effluent. Larval densities of over 30,000 m−2 were recorded. Eleven species were common and of these Chironomus riparius was the most tolerant. There was considerable variation in the seasonal incidence of the different species. Brillia longifurca was most abundant in the spring while Cricotopus bicinctus was most abundant in the summer. Brillia longifurca, Paratrichocladius rufiventris, Prodiamesa olivacea, Micropsectra atrofasciata and Eukiefferiella claripennis had three peaks in numbers of larvae during the year.
The increase in the polluted state of the river in the summer resulted in changes in the chironomid populations. Some were suppressed, e.g. E. claripennis , while C. riparius extended its range and achieved maximum abundance further downstream during the summer.  相似文献

Mortality that occurs during larval dispersal as a consequence of environmental, maternal, and genetic effects and their interactions can affect annual recruitment in fish populations. We studied larval lake sturgeon (Acipenser fulvescens) drift for two consecutive nights to examine whether larvae from different females exposed to the same environmental conditions during dispersal differed in relative levels of mortality. We estimated proportional contributions of females to larval collections and relative larval loss among females as larvae dispersed downstream between two sampling sites based on genetically determined parentage. Larval collections were composed of unequal proportions of offspring from different females that spawned at upstream and downstream locations (~0.8 km apart). Hourly dispersal patterns of larvae produced from females spawning at both locations were similar, with the largest number of larvae observed during 22:00–23:00 h. Estimated relative larval loss did not differ significantly among females as larvae were sampled at two sites approximately 0.15 and 1.5 km from the last section downstream of spawning locations. High inter- and intra-female variation in larval contributions and relative larval loss between nights may be a common feature of lake sturgeon and other migratory fish species, and likely is a source of inter-annual and intra-annual variation in fish recruitment.  相似文献

1. Migratory shrimps are often major biotic components of tropical stream communities, yet spatial and temporal patterns of their migration have yet to be described. This information is of increasing importance given the continued fragmentation of tropical streams by damming and water abstraction/diversion, which can disrupt migratory life cycles. 2. Larval amphidromous shrimps are released by adult females in freshwater streams. They then drift passively to an estuarine habitat where they metamorphose before migrating back upstream. Drift of larval shrimps was sampled over two to five 24-h periods at each of three sites along two rivers that drain the Luquillo Experimental Forest in Puerto Rico: the Espíritu Santo (10, 135 and 335 m a.s.l.) and the Mameyes (10, 90 and 290 m a.s.l.). A total of seventeen diel samplings were conducted. 3. Shrimp drift increased in the downstream direction in both catchments, and had a significant positive exponential relationship with length of stream channel above each site. There was no significant difference between catchments with respect to mean daily drift rate per km of stream channel. Maximum observed larval shrimp density was 69 102 larvae 100 m–3 (1.7 g dry mass 100 m–3), which is high relative to published invertebrate drift studies. 4. The pattern of shrimp drift agreed with the ’risk of predation hypothesis‘. In stream reaches with predatory fish, drift of larval shrimps occurred at night and was slight during the day. A nocturnal peak in drift occurred between 19.00 and 22.00 h. At a high-altitude site, where predatory fish were absent, no diel pattern was discernible. 5. The present study provides information on the timing of migratory drift of larval shrimps, which can minimize the adverse effects of water abstraction from streams draining the Luquillo Experimental Forest. Elimination of water withdrawal during peak larval drift after dark will significantly reduce shrimp mortality.  相似文献

Changes in larval density and movement behavior of a commensal midge, Nanocladius (Plecopteracoluthus) sp. #4, were monitored for 26 weeks in recirculating laboratory streams. Adults were captured at emergence, sexed, and weighed to assess the effect of larval density and movement behavior on emergence success and adult size. The density of midges on hosts declined with time and coincided with a springtime increase in larval movement frequency. Midges residing on hosts with high spring densities emerged significantly less than midges on hosts with low densities. Resident midge density on hosts did not influence the likelihood of successful colonization by commensals and colonizers showed no preference for initial attachment site on hosts. However, colonizing midges emerged significantly less than resident midges. Similarly, successful emergers changed tube positions significantly less often as larvae relative to non-emergers. There was no difference in adult body weight of resident midges and colonists/movers, but adult males which emerged from commensal-laden (high density) hosts were significantly smaller than males from low density hosts. These data indicate larval density and movement behavior may have strong fitness consequences for commensal midges.  相似文献

Seasonal and diurnal patterns of larval and juvenile fish drift were investigated in the Marchfeldkanal, a man‐made side branch of the Danube River near Vienna, Austria. A clear seasonal pattern with peak densities in mid‐June was found. Species composition varied over time, showed a site specific pattern and was dominated by tubenose goby Proterorhinus marmoratus . Water temperature was the main factor responsible for the increase of drift densities until the median drift date and repeated occurrence of early larval stages in drift indicated repeated spawning for many species. Significant differences in drift densities between different time periods of the day (day, dusk, night and dawn) were found for common bream Abramis brama , barbel Barbus barbus , chub Leuciscus cephalus , tubenose goby and roach Rutilus rutilus . The highest drift rates occurred at night (2200–0400 hours), with 86% of all larvae drifting during the hours of darkness. Fish larvae of different lengths drifting at different phases of the day were found for common bream, bleak Alburnus alburnus and chub, with largest larvae drifting during dusk (chub) and day (bleak and common bream). For bleak, all gudgeon species Gobio spp., tubenose goby, roach and for all cyprinid species combined, one 2 h night sample was found to be sufficient to predict the total 24 h drift.  相似文献

1. Predicting population dynamics at large spatial scales requires integrating information about spatial distribution patterns, inter-patch movement rates and within-patch processes. Advective dispersal of aquatic species by water movement is considered paramount to understanding their population dynamics. Rivers are model advective systems, and the larvae of baetid mayflies are considered quintessential dispersers. Egg laying of baetids along channels is patchy and reflects the distribution of oviposition sites, but larvae are assumed to drift frequently and far, thereby erasing patterns created during oviposition. Dispersal kernels are often overestimated, however, and empirical tests of such assumptions are warranted because of the pivotal role distribution patterns can have on populations. 2. We tested empirically whether the egg distribution patterns arising from oviposition behaviours persisted and were reflected in the distribution patterns of larval Baetis rhodani. In field surveys, we tested for associations between egg mass and larval densities over 1 km lengths of four streams. A control species, the mayfly Ephemerella ignita, was employed to test for covarying environmental factors. We estimated drift rates directly to test whether larvae dispersed between riffles (patches of high egg mass density) and whether drift rates were density-dependent or density-related - expected outcomes if drift erases patterns established by maternal behaviours. 3. Positive associations between egg masses and larval benthic densities were found for neonate and mid-stage larvae of Baetis, but not the control species, suggesting persistence of the patchy distribution patterns established at oviposition. Drift rates were high, and riffles were net exporters of neonate and mid-stage larvae, but drift rates were unrelated to benthic densities and few drifters reached the next riffle. Riffles were sinks for large larvae, suggesting ontogenetic shifts in habitat use, but little long-distance dispersal. 4. Overall, the results suggest that most neonate and mid-stage larvae of B. rhodani remain close to the natal riffle, and late-stage larvae disperse shorter distances than routinely assumed. The persistence of maternal effects on distribution patterns well into juvenile life of an allegedly iconic disperser suggests that traditional models of how dispersal influences the population dynamics of many lotic invertebrates may be incorrect.  相似文献

  • 1 This study attempts to determine the mechanisms by which the downstream displacement of lotic invertebrates is compensated by the upstream movements of immatures and adults. To this end, submerged and aerial traps were set up at three sites, each 100 m apart on a small mountain stream (Yr Ogof) in North Wales and operated for 12 months.
  • 2 At Site 1 (the source), 19.3% of the benthic invertebrates lost as drift were replaced by the upstream movement of aquatic stages. At Site 2, the average upstream compensation was 51.1% (although there was a marked difference between the two traps at the site). At downstream Site 3 the average compensation was 55.4%. The net loss of benthos downstream over 1 year was estimated to be 261920 individuals from Site 1, 41891 from Site 2, and 40470 from Site 3.
  • 3 At Sites 1 and 2, the numbers of invertebrates drifting were positively correlated with both current speed and water depth. At Sites 2 and 3, the numbers moving upstream were positively correlated with water temperature. At all three sites, the numbers of animals drifting were positively correlated with the numbers moving upstream, under water.
  • 4 In none of the eight common species of stoneffy did females show a strong overall upstream flight preference—however, two species, Leuctra nigra and Nemoura erratica, showed a significant downstream preference.
  • 5 As with the stonefly nymphs, most of the caddisfly larvae showed a longitudinal distribution. Agapetus fuscipes larvae were most abundant at Site 1, yet females showed no preferred flight direction—this would seem to be inappropriate for maintaining this larval distribution pattern. However, females caught moving upstream at Site 2 were bigger and contained twice as many eggs, which were also larger, than females moving upstream at Site 1. The flight patterns of the other Trichoptera also seemed inappropriate for maintaining their respective larval distributions. Immature insects moved upstream at certain sites and times, but trends were not consistent. There was no correlation between female flight direction and local wind speed and direction.
  • 6 Downstream displacement of the most abundant non-insect species, Gammarus pulex, was quite considerable at all three sites. However, at several times during the year the numbers moving upstream approached or exceeded those drifting. Maintenance of benthic population densities in this species is thought to be through a combination of upstream movement (which was highly correlated with benthic density at Sites 1 and 3) and production of young over a long (10 month) reproductive period. Maintenance of the benthic populations of the immature stages of the majority of insect species in Yr Ogof is thought to be through oviposition by females in the vicinity of their emergence sites.

1. The effects of runoff from acid sulphate soils on Hydropsyche angustipennis, H. siltatai and Ceratopsyche nevae larvae were studied. H. angustipennis occurs in both contaminated and uncontaminated rivers, whereas H. siltalai and C. nevae occur only in uncontaminated rivers. Larvae were translocated in PVC-tubes to contaminated sites. Larvae returned to an uncontaminated river were used as a control. 2. Heavy larval mortality and a high incidence of morphological abnormalities were observed in larvae translocated to the contaminated, acid dyers. In the control river pH remained near 6 and no larval mortality or morphological abnormalities were observed. In the most contaminated river nutrient concentrations, amount of organic matter and pH increased substantially after the flood. 3. Mortality and incidence of abnormalities were significantly higher in H. siltalai and C. nevae than in H. angustipennis. As metal concentrations decreased and pH increased, the larvae of all species developed normally, except in the most contaminated river, where only H. angustipennis appeared to tolerate the increasing load of nutrients and organic matter. 4. Reciprocal translocation of H. angustipennis larvae between contaminated and uncontaminated rivers revealed significant differences in larval development and the occurrence of abnormalities among sites and populations. At both sites, larvae originating from the contaminated site grew more slowly than did larvae from the uncontaminated site. Morphological abnormalities were detected only in H. angustipennis larvae translocated from the uncontaminated to the contaminated site. 5. The results suggest that species-specific differences in sensitivity to acidification, metal contamination and eutrophication are the major determinants of hydropsychid guild structure in the River Kyrönjoki. Further, population-specific differences in growth and occurrence of morphological abnormalities in the H. angustipennis larvae may reveal either phenotypic adaptation or evolution of resistance to runoff from acid sulphate soils.  相似文献

Few studies have dealt so far with the macrophytic communities inhabiting the small Mediterranean rivers in South-East France. In order to fill this gap, it was proposed to assess the effects of natural and anthropic disturbances on the biodiversity in the lowland River Huveaune (South-East France). The Mediterranean climate in this region results in strong seasonal variations in the hydrological regime: there is a long dry period and sudden episodes of flooding occur, which greatly affect the plant community dynamics. The River Huveaune is severely polluted by organic matter. Two stations were set up, one in an upstream reference sector and the other in a downstream polluted sector. The standard sampling area of 100 m2 was divided into plots 4 m2 in size, some of which included part of the river and part of a bank. In addition, plant inventories were drawn up over distances of 50 and 100 m. Seventeen sampling campaigns were carried out from April 2002 to October 2003, resulting in the first systematic list of macrophyte species occurring in small Mediterranean rivers in South-Eastern France. The great variability of the hydrological factors involved leads to considerable spatial and temporal variations in the biodiversity. The upstream station was found to be less severely disturbed and to show a wider range of macrophytes than the downstream station: bryophytes predominate upstream and phanerogams and macroalgae, downstream. The Macrophyte Biological Index for River (IBMR) was tested and found to be a valid means of water quality assessment in small Mediterranean rivers.  相似文献

Synopsis The timing and spatial pattern of gizzard shad, Dorosoma cepedianum, spawning were markedly affected by a temperature gradient caused by the release of hypolimnetic water from an upstream reservoir into the middle reaches of the Savannah River. During 1983 and 1984, a distinct thermal gradient occurred with the warmest temperatures at the downstream end of the 257 km study reach and the coolest temperatures at the upstream end. The occurrence of gizzard shad larvae indicated that spawning began at the sample stations farthest downstream and progressed upstream, peaking at each sample station when it warmed to approximately 19° C. The estimated difference in date of peak density of larvae between the upstream and downstream ends of the gradient was 23 days in 1983 and 35 days in 1984. Because of this pattern, densities of larvae were highest at the downstream end of the study area early in the spawning season and highest at the upstream end of the study area late in the spawning season.Photoperiod and daylength appeared unrelated to the patterns under study. Far-reaching effects of anthropogenic temperature changes on fish spawning and the distribution of larvae are probably common in rivers that receive hypolimnetic discharge.  相似文献

Estimates of age derived from daily ring counts from otoliths and capture rates of larval June sucker Chasmistes liorus were used to determine the relationship between discharge rates of the Provo River and residence time and patterns of larval drift. During 1997, larval drift occurred over a 22 day period when discharge rates were low (mean ±s.d. 3·2 ± 0·0 m3 s?1). In 1998, larval drift occurred in two separate events over a 40 day period. Discharge was higher during the first larval drift period (19 days; 24·8 ± 1·3 m3 s?1) and lower during the second larval drift period (17 days; 7·0 ± 0·9 m3 s?1). In 1997, no larval fish were collected at the lowermost transect on the Provo River (nearest Utah Lake), and few larvae >21 days of age were found. During the first drift period of 1998, larval C. liorus were collected at all transects, and mean age of larvae collected between upstream and downstream transects increased by c. 7 days. During the second drift period of 1998, only a few were collected in the lowermost transects, and age did not increase with proximity to the lake. Patterns in catch and age distribution of larval C. liorus in the lower Provo River suggest that recruitment failure occurs during the larval drift period in years with insufficient discharge to transport larvae into the lake.  相似文献

1. We tested the hypothesis that interactions between disturbance types can influence invertebrate community response and recovery in two streams draining pasture (press‐pulse disturbance) and native forest (pulse disturbance) catchments before and after a one‐in‐28‐year flood. We also sampled drift and adult insects to gain insights into the relative importance of these two postdisturbance recolonisation pathways. 2. Taxa numbers and total density declined markedly at the forested site after the flood, but there was a delayed response at the pasture site, reflecting greater initial resistance to this pulse disturbance among taxa adapted to the underlying press disturbance. 3. Community composition was less stable at the pasture site where per cent abundance of taxa was highly variable prior to the flood and over the 2‐year postflood sampling period. After the flood, the pasture stream fauna was more heavily dominated by vagile taxa, including several chironomid species and hydroptilid caddisflies. 4. Taxa numbers and densities recovered to preflood levels within 5–7 months at both sites, but a range of taxa‐specific responses was observed that took up to 18 months to recover to preflood densities. Community stability at the pasture site had not returned to preflood composition by 2 years postflood. 5. Changes in drift densities of several common stream invertebrates at the pasture site reflected postflood changes in benthic densities and seasonally low drift in winter. Terrestrial invertebrates dominated drift at the pasture site for 3 months postflood whereas Ephemeroptera were most common at the native forest site. 6. Flight patterns of selected adult aquatic insects showed a strongly seasonal pattern. Abundance of adults at the pasture site in the second year following the flood increased in line with the recovery of the non‐Dipteran benthic fauna. Significant upstream flight occurred for several caddisfly species at the native forest site, and weakly directional or downstream flight was evident for most common Plecoptera and Ephemeroptera. 7. This study indicates that the magnitude and duration of responses to major pulse disturbances can depend on the presence or absence of an underlying press disturbance. This finding has implications for monitoring, and suggests that a knowledge of disturbance history beyond 2 years may be required to interpret mechanisms contributing to observed land‐use impacts.  相似文献

1. Paratya australiensis egg and clutch sizes vary between lower and upper altitude sites within headwater streams of the Conondale Range, Queensland, Australia. The adaptive significance of this variation is examined by comparing the development of large eggs from upper sites with small eggs from lower sites at ambient temperatures in the laboratory. 2. Embryonic duration was not dependent on egg size, but was a function of temperature (28 days at 18 °C, but only 22 days at 21 °C). However, larvae developing from large eggs were significantly larger at all stages of development, larval duration was shorter and growth rate was faster than that of larvae from small eggs. 3. It is suggested that the larger, more rapidly developing larvae at upper altitude sites have a greater chance of maintaining position within headwater sections of the stream. This is important as physical barriers such as waterfalls may severely restrict upstream movement. At lower altitude sites, maintaining position may not be as critical as there are no major barriers to upstream movement following downstream displacement. The influence of temperature may also be important as larger eggs may be an adaptation to compensate for slower development of eggs and larvae at cooler, upper altitude sites. The advantage in completing larval development quickly is that larvae would have less risk of removal by spates occurring late in the breeding season.  相似文献

The seasonal fluctuations of larval macroinvertebrate drift, exuvial drift and larval benthic density were quantitatively examined over a 1-year period in a fourth order, spring-fed stream in the Piedmont area of South Carolina. The drift was dominated by the mayfly Baetis spp. and by two species of blackfly (Prosimulium mixtum and Simulium jenningsi). Peak drift densities were noted during early spring and especially late summer. Strong correlations were noted between larval drift densities and exuvial drift, indicating a relationship between drift and seasonal growth and emergence patterns. Seasonal trends in drift and benthic densities, though less strongly correlated, were also generally similar.  相似文献

An assessment of water and habitat quality, based on macroinvertebrate assemblage indices and qualitative habitat scores (QHS), was undertaken in the Honi and Naro Moru rivers, Kenya, in 2011. The two rivers are important as water sources for the local communities and as habitat for organisms such as invertebrates in the national parks there. The Naro Moru upstream site (QHS: 83%) is unmodified, with minimal human influence. The Honi downstream site and the Naro Moru midstream and downstream sites experienced moderate to large modifications in habitat and biota (QHS: 40–80%). South African scoring system (SASS) scores ranged from 43 (Naro Moru downstream) to 165 (Honi upstream), and there was a decrease in SASS scores with distance downstream. Based on the multimetric index (MI), the Honi and Naro Moru upstream and midstream sites have good water quality (MI: 0.6–0.8), whereas the Honi midstream and downstream sites, and the Naro Moru downstream site, have moderate water quality (MI: 0.4–0.6). Human activities had a negative effect on water quality and habitats. Preventive and conservation measures should be taken in the usage of the Naro Moru and Honi rivers.  相似文献

1. Flight activity of Trichoptera, Plecoptera and Ephemeroptera was studied by sticky trapping for 12 months at five sites along a New Zealand mountain stream. Over 19 000 insects were captured by the traps, which were located in forest and grassland reaches, including a reach with intermittent flow.
2. Most species occurred predominantly in forest or grassland, although some were trapped throughout the stream. Longitudinal distributions of adults and their larvae were strongly correlated.
3. Flight periods of 24 caddisflies, three mayflies and four stoneflies ranged from 2 to 12 months. Six species were trapped in all months and 17 (55%) in more than 5 months.
4. The most abundant forest-dwelling caddisfly species were over-represented on the downstream sides of sticky traps located in, and immediately below, forest indicating a majority was flying upstream. Upstream flight compensates for downstream drift of larvae and should maximize the likelihood that forest-dwelling species will locate preferred habitat for egg, larval and/or adult development. Unlike the caddisflies, the stonefly Spaniocerca zelandica was over-represented on the upstream sides of traps, suggesting that some adults may float or fly downstream following emergence.
5. In contrast to forest-dwelling species, only one common caddisfly ( Oxyethira albiceps ) was over-represented on the downstream sides of traps at grassland sites. Unlike the forest-dwelling species, most species taken at the downstream sites probably came from a variety of sources, including a nearby stream.  相似文献
