The cervicothoracic muscles of nymphal and adult Euborellia annulipes (Lucas) are described, the former for the first time. In the adult, eight new muscles are identified, while the nymphs possess a further seven muscles that disappear at maturation or before. Otherwise the same muscles occur in nymphs as in adults, though some nymphal muscles are less clearly separated from one another than their adult homologs. The attachment sites of certain muscles show a number of slight differences between nymphs and adults. The work emphasizes the necessity of taking the immature musculature into account in assessing the muscular pattern represented in an insect order.  相似文献

Fifty-five warthogs [Phacochoerus aethiopicus (Suidae: Artiodactyla)] from the Kruger National Park, Republic of South Africa, were examined for parasites. Adult filarial nematodes were found in lymphatic vessels adjacent to peripheral and visceral lymph nodes, and microfilariae were found in lymph nodes and circulating blood. Both the adult parasite and the microfilaria are described. Specific identification is pending confirmation and recovery of intact adult specimens and microfilariae identical to those described herein.  相似文献

The male of Megacormus granosus is described for the first time and the female redescribed. A homology scheme proposed recently is applied to hemispermatophore structures. The specimens were collected in an oak forest from Pico de Orizaba Volcano at an average altitude of 2340 m. All adult males were collected by pitfall traps, whereas all adult females and both sex immatures were collected using Berlese funnels, suggesting that males are comparatively more mobile within the leaf litter layer, probably due to mating season.  相似文献

Abstract. The subgenus Sabethinus of Sabethes is redescribed and defined on the basis of shared morphological features observed in the adult, larval and pupal stages of four known species, two of which are described as new. Each species is described and illustrated in detail, and keys are provided for the identification of the adult and larval stages. The treatment of each species also includes an annotated summary of previous literature, a brief systematic discussion and information on bionomics and distribution. The species comprising the subgenus are Saintermedins, Samelcinonymphe, Saxhyphydes sp.n. and Sakliogenes sp.n.  相似文献

Several interesting traits were found in the development of the first trunk limb. Summary The phenotype of rotund (rn) null alleles is described, and compared to wild type. The mutants are expressed zygotically and cause position specific defects in certain imaginal discs (antenna, legs, wing, haltere and proboscis) and their corresponding adult derivatives. In the discs, specific folds are absent in rn mutants compared to wild type. Clonal analysis shows that the rn + gene is partially autonomous in its expression in cells destined to form certain distal parts of the adult appendages. The results are consistent with the idea that the rn + gene is required for normal morphogenesis of specific distal parts of the adult appendages.  相似文献

The genus Antispila Hübner, [1825] is poorly recorded from China. Two new Antispila species, A. longcangensis, sp. nov. and A. emeishanensis, sp. nov. feeding on Hydrangeaceae, are described from Sichuan, China. The adult male and female, genitalia and venation of both species are illustrated. Diagnostic characters of these species are compared with other described Antispila species from China. Phoronid larvae were found in planktonic samples from the northern coast of Terpeniya Bay. In some samples, their density was up to 220 specimens/m3. Larval stages having 10, 12, 16, 20, and 22 tentacles are described. Larvae were identified as Actinotrocha branchiata and belong to the species Phoronis muelleri Selys-Longchamps, 1903. However, unlike the Ph. muelleri larvae described in the literature, the larvae we found are smaller (not more than 900 μm) before metamorphosis and have fewer tentacles (24). They lack paired vacuolated diverticula of the stomach, which are characteristic of Ph. muelleri larvae. However, judging by all other characters, namely transparency, the absence of coelomic cylinder in the preoral lobe, and the presence of adult tentacle primordia, one pair of blood cell aggregations, and a pyriform organ, these larvae are similar to the previously described larvae of Ph. muelleri. Adult forms of Ph. muelleri were previously found in Terpeniya Bay and described by Mamkaev (1962) and Emig (1984).  相似文献

Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS) or 4p-deletion syndrome has been extensively described in children. Knowledge on adult WHS patients is still limited due to the small number of published cases. We present 4 adults and review the literature. The phenotype of adult WHS is in general similar to that of childhood WHS. Growth retardation, microcephaly and mental retardation are the rule in both adults and children. Facial dysmorphism also remains similar. The main difference lies in the absence of serious internal (cardiac) abnormalities in adult WHS. Mental retardation ranges from moderate to severe. The nosological overlap between WHS and Pitt-Rogers-Danks syndrome (PRDS) is discussed. More extensive data on adult WHS are needed for appropriate counselling of families with affected young children.  相似文献

The following three species of Ceratopogonidae were collected breeding in the rhizomatous herb Phenakospermum guyannense Endl., 1833 in the vicinity of Manaus, Brazil, a new species, Culicoides (Mataemyia) felippebauerae Spinelli, Forcipomyia (Forcipomyia) genualis (Loew), and F. (Phytohelea) musae Clastrier & Dellécole. C. (M.) felippebauerae is described and illustrated as adult, pupa, and fourth instar larva, the adult compared with the adult of C. barthi Taveres and Souza and larva and pupa with those of C. dicrourus Wirth & Blanton and C. macieli Tavares & Ruiz, the only species with known immatures in the subgenus. The pupa and fourth instar larva of F. (P.) musae are described and illustrated and compared with immatures of F. (P.) edwardsi Saunders.  相似文献

The development of the centrum and the notochordal (intravertebral) cartilage in Hypogeophis is described. The notochordal cartilage is produced in each vertebra by certain areas of the notochordal epithelium and there is no indication of the invasion of the notochordal sheath by mesenchyme cells. The bands of cartilage are of constant occurrence and persist in the adult vertebrae. The vertebrae are autocentral and the centrum is produced (independently of the neural arches) by a tube of circumnotochordal mesenchyme cells.  相似文献

The adult male, adult female, pupa, and larva of Nanocladius (Plecopteracoluthus) asiaticus sp. n. (Diptera: Chironomidae) are described and illustrated. Larvae live in coarse silken nets which usually are attached to the ventral side of the mesothorax of larval dobsonflies and fishflies (Megaloptera: Corydalidae) dwelling in stream riffles. The host species are Protohermes grandis and Parachauliodes continentalis in Japan, Protohermes costalis and Neochauliodes sinensis in Taiwan, and Neurhermes maculipennis in the Malay Peninsula. Larvae are not parasitic but may have a commensal relationship with their hosts; they feed on algae and detrital material caught on their silken nets, or on the body surface of their hosts. Pupation occurs in the fine silken net fixed to the lateral side of host thoracic regions, or occasionally to the undersides of hind legs.  相似文献

记述采自中国江西武夷山优苔螟属Eudonia 1新种,即截形优苔螟Eudonia abrupta sp. nov.。该种与伊诺优苔螟E. inouei Sasaki,1998 近似,但其雄性外生殖器爪形突的末端与基部等宽,阳茎为抱器瓣长的1.5倍;而伊诺优苔螟的爪形突末端显著窄于基部,阳茎与抱器瓣近等长。文中提供了成虫和外生殖器特征图。模式标本保存在江西农业大学昆虫标本馆。  相似文献
