Two new genera, Gedoelstascaris and Orleppascaris, are proposed for species of ascaridoid nematodes occurring in crocodilians and previously included in Dujardinascaris. Species included in Gedoelstascaris are vandenbrandeni Baylis, 1929 as type species and australiensis Baylis, 1931 (= salomonis Kreis, 1940). These species occur in Crocodylus spp. in Africa and Australia respectively and are characterised by lips with a rostral plate, without interlocking processes or dentigerous ridges, with well-developed interlabia, lobulated ventriculus, and excetory pore in front of the nerve ring. Species included in Ortleppascaris are: nigra Gedoelst, 1916 (= tasmani Ortlepp, 1932) as type species; alata Baylis, 1947: antipini Mozgovoy, 1950. These species occur in Crocodylus, Caiman and Alligator and are characterized by flat lips with alate margins, without anterior rostral plate, interlocking processes or dentigerous ridges, with weakly developed interlabia, by an irregular-shaped ventriculus, excretory pore behind or between the subventral lips, and by the presence of lateral alae or cuticular thickenings in the oesophageal region. The significance of this proposal is discussed in relation to the radiation and dispersal of ascaridoids of crocodilians.  相似文献

Summary A new trichostrongylid nematode, Obeliscoides pentalagi n. sp., from the stomach of the Ryukyu Rabbit, Pentalagus furnessi, collected on Amami-ohshima Island, south Japan is described. O. pentalagi n. sp. resembles O. leporis Schulz, 1931 and O. travassosi Liu & Wu, 1941, but differs in the relative size and morphology of the dorsal ray and genital cone of the males. The number and distribution of longitudinal cuticular ridges of O. pentalagi n. sp. is similar to those of O. cuniculi multistriatus Measures & Anderson, 1983, but it differs in the morphology of the spicules, dorsal ray and genital cone in males, and in the morphology of the prevulval lobe of the females. The discovery of O. pentalagi further supports the hypothesis of a Eurasian origin of the genus Obeliscoides (Graybill, 1923) Graybill, 1924 (Durette-Desset, 1983; Durette-Desset & Chabaud, 1977; Measures & Anderson, 1983a, b, c, 1984). The number and distribution of longitudinal cuticular ridges and variation of the prevulval lobe in females of O. leporis Schulz, 1931 are also examined and compared with those of other species.  相似文献

Five species of philometrid nematodes (subfamily Philometrinae) are redescribed on the basis of newly collected materials from marine fishes from Japan. The species Philometra sciaenae Yamaguti, 1941, considered by Rasheed (1963) a synonym of P. lateolabracis (Yamaguti, 1935), is re-established as a valid species and the male of this nematode, collected from the ovary of the type-host, Argyrosomus argentatus, is described for the first time; the latter is characterised mainly by the length of equally long spicules (0.108–0.126 mm) and the length ratio of the gubernaculum and spicules (1:2.25). Other species redescribed on females include Philometra inimici Yamaguti, 1941 and P. sebastisci Yamaguti, 1941 from the ovary of their type-hosts, Inimicus japonicus and Sebastiscus marmoratus, respectively, and also Philometroides seriolae (Ishii, 1931) from the musculature of Seriola quinqueradiata (type-host), and Clavinema mariae (Layman, 1930) from the subcutaneous tissue of Pleuronectes schrenki and Acanthogobius flavimanus (a new host record). For the first time, cephalic ends of some of these species were studied under the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the character of their cephalic papillae was described. The importance of a knowledge of male morphology for the taxonomy of philometrids is stressed.  相似文献

Summary Aplectana gigantica Olsen, 1938 and Oxysomatium inglisi Anderson, 1964 (Cosmocercidae) have been re-examined. Study of cephalic, oesophageal and male caudal structures and of the egg demonstrates that both species belong in the Kathlaniidae and they are reclassified as Falcaustra inglisi (Anderson, 1964) n. comb. and Megalobatrachonema gigantica (Olsen, 1938) n. comb. The genus Megalobatrachonema Yamaguti, 1941 is divided into M. (Megalobatrachonema) n. subg. (with M. nipponica Yamaguti, 1941 and M. gigantica) and M. (Chabaudgolvania) n. subg. (with M. campanae Chabaud & Golvan, 1959 and M. terdentatum (Linstow, 1898)). M. (Chabaudgolvania) lacks oesophageal valves which are present in M. (Megalobatrachonema). It is suggested that F. inglisi and M. gigantica illustrate a trend in the evolution of the Kathlaniinae towards reduction of cephalic support structures and simplification of the oesophagus to a club-shaped form lacking valves. An evolutionary hypothesis linking the Kathlaniinae to the Quimperiidae (Seuratoidea) is presented. The genus Chabaudinema Díaz-Ungría, 1968 is synonymized with Spectatus Travassos, 1923 and its type species is designated Spectatus americana (Díaz-Ungría, 1968) n. comb. ac]19791109  相似文献

Summary Mermis savaiiensis n. sp., found in soil samples from Western Samoa is described and figured. It is characterized by an apical oral depression, smooth-shelled eggs lacking byssi but with low, cap-like polar elevations and a conoid tail with a rounded terminal projection. We studied the taxonomy and distribution of the Conchostraca in Yugoslavia. A diverse fauna occurs in the country. However, the systematics of this group is still incomplete and has many problems. There is considerable variability of morphological characters. By a comparative-morphological analysis of the populations found, we re-evaluated the taxonomic significance of a series of structural characters, and offer comments on the results.In Yugoslavia four families were found: Cyzicidae Stebbing, 1910; Limnadiidae Burmeister, 1843; Imnadiidae Botnariuc & Orghidan, 1941 and Leptestheriidae Daday, 1923, with a present total of 8 species and 4 subspecies. Within the genus Imnadia Hertzog, 1935, three new species were found: Imnadia cristata Marinek, 1972; Imnadia banatica Marinek & Valvajter, 1982 and Imnadia panonica Marinek & Petrov, 1984. Within the genus Eoleptestheria Daday, 1923, the species Eoleptestheria spinosa Marinek, 1978, with four distinct subspecies was discovered.  相似文献

Based on chaetotaxy of the dorsal shield, the taxonomic status of many species of Ornithonyssus has been considered invalid, resulting in the synonymy of all Brazilian Ornithonyssus from small terrestrial wild mammals into one of the following four species: Ornithonyssus bacoti (Hirst, 1913), Ornithonyssus matogrosso (Fonseca, 1954), Ornithonyssus pereirai (Fonseca, 1935) or Ornithonyssus wernecki (Fonseca, 1935). Despite the revision of this genus in 1980, including all known species worldwide, the knowledge of Ornithonyssus in Brazil has not progressed for more than 40 years. Considering the potential importance of these haematophagous mites in transmitting rickettsial disease agents to animals and humans, we have revised Ornithonyssus species collected from small mammals in Brazil by means of morphological and molecular studies. Types and other material deposited in the Acari Collection of the Instituto Butantan (IBSP) were examined in addition to recently collected specimens. Morphological and genetic analysis of the 16S rDNA mitochondrial gene revealed that small terrestrial mammals in Brazil are parasitized by six species of Ornithonyssus mites: Ornithonyssus brasiliensis (Fonseca, 1939), O. matogrosso, O. monteiroi (Fonseca, 1941), O. pereirai, O. vitzthumi (Fonseca, 1941), and O. wernecki. An illustrated key to females of the valid Brazilian species of Ornithonyssus is included, based on optical and scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献

A new nematode species, Dujardinascaris mormyropsis n. sp. (Anisakidae), is described from specimens found in the stomach and intestine of the cornish jack Mormyrops anguilloides (Linnaeus) (Osteoglossiformes; Mormyridae) in the Sangha River (Congo River basin) in Dzanga-Sangha Protected Areas, Central African Republic. Based on light and scanning electron microscopical examination, the new species differs from the only other congeneric species parasitising fishes in Africa, Dmalapteruri (Baylis, 1923), mainly in the presence of dentigerous ridges on lips, absence of lateral caudal alae in the cloacal region, in the anteriorly curved, non-bifid distal tip of the gubernaculum and larger eggs (60–90 × 52–78 vs 45 × 30 μm); males of Dmormyropsis are characterised by the presence of a ventral precloacal cuticular ornamentation not observed in other Dujardinascaris spp. Dujardinascaris mormyropsis and Dmalapteruri also differ in the order of their fish hosts (Osteoglossiformes vs Siluriformes). Specimens previously reported as Dujardinascaris graberi Troncy, 1969, a junior synonym of Dmalapteruri, from Mormyrops engystoma Boulenger in Chad belong to the new species Dmormyropsis.  相似文献

Three ciliate species from Australia and Norway were examined by silver impregnation, biometry, and scanning electron microscopy. Trochiliopsis australis n. sp. (order Nassulida, family Microthoracidae) differs from the single other known species of the genus, T. opaca, by its prominent ridges on the left side, the distinctly longer anterior segment of somatic kinety 2, and by the doubled total number of kinetosomes. Pelagohalteria n. g. (order Oligotrichida, family Halteriidae) differs from Halteria by the structure of the bristle complexes, which are composed of a vertically and a horizontally oriented row of kinetosomes. Two Halteria species belong to the new genus: P. viridis (Fromentel, 1876) n. comb., which is redescribed here, and P. cirrifera (Kahl, 1935) n. comb. Strobilidium lacustris n. sp. (order Oligotrichida, family Strobilidiidae) differs from its nearest relative, S. velox, by the smooth pellicle, the absence of symbiotic green algae, and by its larger size.  相似文献

The genus Parahemiurus Vaz & Pereira, 1930 (syn.: Daniella Sahai & Srivastava, 1977) is defined, its major morphological characters discussed and a key to species given. The species P. merus (Linton, 1910) (syns: P. parahemiurus Vaz & Pereira, 1930, P. sardiniae Yamaguti, 1934, P. seriolae Yamaguti, 1934, P. platichthyi Lloyd, 1938, P. atherinae Yamaguti, 1938, P. harengulae Yamaguti, 1938, P. noblei King, 1962) and P. anchoviae Pereira & Vaz, 1930 are described. Other species recognized are P. clupeae Yamaguti, 1953, P. [originally Daniella] madrasensis (Sahai & Srivastava, 1977) n. comb. (syns: P. dussumieriai Hafeezullah, 1981, P. indicus Ahmad, 1981), P. ecuadori Manter, 1940, P. engraulisi Gupta & Jahan, 1977 (syns: P. cameroni Gupta & Ahmad, 1977, P. puriensis Ahmad, 1981, P. simhai Gupta & Gupta, 1978, P. tricanthusi Gupta & Puri, 1984) and P. yanamense Hafeezullah, 1980. Forms considered species inquirendae are P. arripidis Lebedev, 1971, P. clupeae of King (1964), P. dogieli Skrjabin & Guschanskaya, 1953, P. pseudosciaenae Shen, 1985 and P. trachichthodi Lebedev, 1968. Host and locality information is given in detail for all species. The complete life-cycle is not known, but metacercariae are reported in chaetognaths and teleosts. The definitive hosts of Parahemiurus spp. most frequently reported belong in the families Clupeidae and Carangidae and the genus is most commonly reported in temperate and subtropical waters.  相似文献

A taxonomic revision of the genus Aneorhachis Kleine 1923 (Coleoptera: Brentidae) and a phylogenetic analysis of species belonging to this genus are carried out. The genus Ipsopisthius Kabakov 2001 is synonymised with Aneorhachis, and two new combinations are proposed: Aneorhachis hirta (Kabakov 2001), n. comb. and A. incerta (Kleine 1935), n. comb. Higonius nitens Goossens 2008 is synonymized with A. incerta. One new species is described from New Guinea, A. papuana n. sp. All the species are redescribed and type-specimens are illustrated; an identification key is proposed. A maximum parsimony analysis is provided on the base of 23 characters from adult morphology. This analysis confirms the monophyly of the genus and seems to show that Aneorhachis originated on continental Asia and then spread out eastward to colonize Pacific islands.  相似文献

Flower fly species of the genus Monoceromyia Shannon (Diptera: Syrphidae) in India are reviewed and two new species, M. flavoscutata Sankararaman, Anooj and Mengual, sp. nov. and M. nigra Sankararaman, Anooj and Mengual, sp. nov., are described from Tamil Nadu and Arunachal Pradesh (India), respectively. A new synonym is proposed: M. multipunctata (Hull, 1941) is synonymised under M. polistoides (Brunetti, 1923). Moreover, lectotypes are designated for Ceria patricia Brunetti, 1923 and Ceria tredecimpunctata Brunetti, 1923. An identification key to the Indian Monoceromyia species is also provided.  相似文献

During 1988 and 1989, 409 specimens of southern African Anura comprising 50 species in nine families were checked for opalinids in the cloaca. Opalina natalensis Metcalf, 1923 was found in four of 12 Phrynobatrachus natalensis (Ranidae) and O. duquesnei n. sp. in four of five Chiromantis xerampelina (Rhacophoridae). Opalina amygdala (Boisson, 1965) and O. foliacea (Boisson, 1959) are proposed as new combinations. It is suggested that the Ranidae (in particular the genera Phrynobatrachus and Ptychadena), the Hyperoliidae (in particular the genus Leptopelis) and the Rhacophoridae (with the genus Chiromantis) are among the major carriers of Opalina in the Afrotropical Region.  相似文献

The Palaearctic species-groups of the digger wasp genus Oxybelomorpha Brauns 1897, O. persa and O. steckii, are revised. Three species were investigated. Oxybelomorpha steckii (Kohl 1923) and O. maroccana (de Beaumont, 1957) are considered separate species. The male of O. maroccana is described for the first time. The lectotype of Belomicrus (Pseudoxybelus) persa Gussakovskij, 1933 is designated. A key to 24 revised species of the genus Oxybelomorpha is given.  相似文献

Ascaridoid nematode species reported from fishes and relegated to genera listed by Sprent (1983) within the Heterocheilinae are reviewed. The following species are considered to belong in this category: Dujardinascaris malapteruri (Baylis, 1923) [= D. graberi] from Malapterurus electricus, and possibly Mormyrops engystoma, in Africa; Brevimulticaecum regoi n. sp. from Potamotrygon motoro in South America; Brevimulticaecum heterotis (Petter, Vassiliadès & Marchand, 1979) from Heterotis niloticus in Africa; Brevimulticaecum scleropagi Khalil, 1984 from Scleropages leichardti and S. jardini in Papua New Guinea and Australia. The view is expressed that these heterocheiline species are secondarily derived from related species in crocodilians. It is proposed that Gedoelstascaris Sprent, 1978 is a synonym of Brevimulticaecum Mosgovoy, in Skrjabin et al., 1952 and two new combinations are proposed: Brevimulticaecum vandenbrandeni (Baylis, 1929) and Brevimulticaecum australiensis (Baylis, 1931).  相似文献

Two species of Deretrema (Zoogonidae) are reported from labrid fishes from the Great Barrier Reef. D. nahaense Yamaguti, 1942 is recorded from the gall-bladders of the labrids Thalassoma hardwicke (Bennett), T. jansenii (Bleeker), T. lunare (Linnaeus) and T. lutescens (Lay & Bennett). This species is recognised, despite having been formerly synonymised with D. pacificum Yamaguti, 1942. In addition to morphological distinction, D. nahaense appears to have strict host-specificity for the genus Thalassoma. D. woolcockae n.sp. is described from the gallbladder of Hemigymnus fasciatus (Bloch). The new species is close to D. acutum Pritchard, 1963 and D. plotosi Yamaguti, 1940, but differs slightly in the distribution of the vitelline follicles, the sucker-ratio and the position of the cirrus-sac. In addition, this species also appears to have a distinct host-specificity, being restricted to one labrid species.  相似文献

Examination of the type specimens of Dorylaimus parafecundus De Coninck, 1935 showed that the cuticle lacks longitudinal ridges. The species is a typical Laimydorus and is herewith redesignated L. parafecundus (De Coninck, 1935) n.comb. As it is the type species of Paradorylaimus Andrássy, 1969, the latter generic name falls as a synonym of Laimydorus Siddiqi, 1969 which has priority of publication. The three other species included originally in Paradorylaimus are dealt with as follows: P. wilhelmschneideri (Andrássy, 1959) is considered incertae sedis; P. heterurus (Schuurmans Stekhoven & Teunissen, 1938) was shown by Mulk et al. (1978) to belong in the genus Roqueus Thorne, 1964; P. filiformis (Bastian, 1865) is herewith returned to Laimydorus. Dorylaimus tenuistriatus Schneider, 1935 is not identical with L. parafecundus: it is more slender; odontostyle, pharynx and spicules are shorter; supplement number is lower; shape of vulva and the arrangement of the pharyngeal gland nuclei are different. The species is transferred to Laimydorus, becoming L. tenuistriatus (Schneider, 1935) n.comb. Lectotypes are designated for L. parafecundus and L. tenuistriatus. Among the material of L. tenuistriatus are specimens of L. pseudostagnalis (Micoletzky, 1927) and L. sp.  相似文献
