Starting in the 1960s, the Indian chemist Krishna Bahadur, from the University of Allahabad, published on organic and inorganic
particles that he had synthesized and baptized ‘Jeewanu’, or ‘particle of life’. Bahadur conceived of the Jeewanu as a simple form of the living. These studies are presented in a historical perspective and positioned within mid-20th century
research on the origin of life, notably the so-called ‘coacervate theory’ of the Soviet biochemist Aleksandr I Oparin. The
concepts of life proposed by Bahadur, Oparin and others are discussed from a historical standpoint. 相似文献

Long plantains (Plantago lanceolata L.) with symptoms resembling those associated with phytoplasma infection were observed repeatedly during the period 2000–2008
in southern Bohemia (Czech Republic). The symptoms of the plants were leaf yellowing, stunted growth, flower phyllody and
lack of seed production. Transmission electron microscopy showed phytoplasmas in the sieve cells of affected plants but not
in healthy ones. Association of phytoplasmas with the disease was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction using phytoplasma-specific
universal ribosomal primers R16F2n/R16R2. An amplification product of the expected size (1.2 kb) was observed in all samples
of the symptomatic long plantains. The restriction profiles obtained from digestion of the PCR products with three endonucleases
(AluI, HhaI, MseI) showed that the phytoplasmas infecting long plantains in the Czech Republic were indistinguishable from those belonging
to the aster yellows group (subgroup 16SrI-B). Sequence analysis of 1748 bp of the ribosomal operon indicated that the closest
related phytoplasma was that associated with ‘Rehmannia glutinosa var. purpurea’, originating also in Bohemia. This is the first report of the natural occurrence of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris’ in plants of P. lanceolata. 相似文献

Sprouting axillary buds sampled from a mature 27-year-old shrub of Cornus mas ‘Macrocarpa’ were used as starting material for in vitro culture establishment. Multiple shoot cultures, grown on basal woody
plant medium with the pH adjusted to 5.6–5.7 and supplemented with 6-benzylaminopurine in combination with 1-naphthaleneacetic
acid, were capable of continuous axillary and adventitious shoot proliferation up to 1 year. Later on, growth ceased, shoot
tip necrosis appeared and shoot cultures died. Transfer of living shoots onto modified woody plant medium with the pH adjusted
to 6.8–7.0 led to vigorous growth of multiple shoot cultures without any loss of multiplication rates or decreased vitality
for several years. The use of 6-benzylaminopurine in combination with 1-naphthaleneacetic acid proved superior to the application
of thidiazuron which induced a frequent formation of short and fasciated shoots. 1-naphthaleneacetic acid promoted in vitro
adventitious rooting frequency up to 73.3%, whereas indole-3-butyric acid was not effective. Ex vitro acclimatized plants
did not show any visually detectable morphological variation. 相似文献

The blattisociid mite Lasioseius floridensis Berlese was found associated with the broad mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks), on gerbera leaves in Mogi das Cruzes, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Blattisociid mites are not common on aerial plant
parts, except under high air humidity levels. Some Lasioseius species have been mentioned as effective control agents of rice pest mites, but nothing is known about the biology of L. floridensis. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether the observed co-occurrence of L. floridensis and P. latus was just occasional or whether the latter could be important as food source for the former, assumed by laboratory evaluation
of the ability of the predator to maintain itself, reproduce and develop on that prey. Biological parameters of L. floridensis were compared when exposed to P. latus and to other items as food. The study showed that mating is a pre-requisite for L. floridensis to oviposit and that oviposition rate was much higher on the soil nematode Rhabditella axei (Cobbold) (Rhabditidae) than on P. latus. Ovipositon on the acarid mite Tyrophagus
putrescentiae (Schrank) was about the same as on P. latus, but it was nearly zero when the predator was fed the fungi Aspergillus
flavus Link or Penicillium sp., or cattail (Typha sp.) pollen. Survivorship was higher in the presence of pollen and lower in the presence of A.
flavus or Penicillium sp. than in the absence of those types of food. Life table parameters indicated that the predator performed much better on
R. axei than on P. latus. To evaluate the potential effect of L. floridensis as predator of P. latus, complementary studies are warranted to determine the frequency of migration of L. floridensis to aerial plant parts, when predation on P. latus could occur. 相似文献
