目的:比较采用T形钢板内固定和闭合复位石膏外固定这两种方法治疗桡骨远端骨折的疗效研究。方法:选取我院2008年3月至2011年12月间的76例桡骨远端骨折患者,并按照治疗方法不同分为2组,41例患者进行T形钢板内固定,其余35例患者进行复位后石膏外固定。并借助X线对比分析桡骨远端骨折复位前后及临床愈合时桡骨腕关节的掌倾角、尺偏角及桡骨轴向缩短长度变化等数据,并根据改良的Shea评定法对临床疗效进行比较。结果:针对桡骨远端不稳定型骨折的患者,T形钢板内固定组的优良率要优于石膏外固定组的疗效(P<0.05);而对于稳定性桡骨远端骨折的患者,两组之间的优良率没有明显差异(P>0.05)。结论:对于桡骨远端不稳定骨折的患者,应优先选择T形钢板内固定手术方法,而对于稳定性骨折患者这两种治疗方法均可采用。  相似文献

This study tested the hypothesis that a habit reversal program emphasizing awareness and reduction of masticatory muscle activity would significantly reduce pain in patients diagnosed with chronic temporomandibular disorder (TMD) and would be a competitive alternative to a behaviorally-modified dental intervention. Eight individuals diagnosed with TMD were randomly assigned to a splint therapy or habit reversal group. Patients in the splint group received an interocclusal appliance (splint) fabricated from acrylic and were instructed to wear the splint day and night up to a maximum of 20 h per day. Patients in the habit reversal group were given a pager and instructed to check tooth position and masticatory muscle tension when paged. Paging occurred approximately once every 2 h during the day, but not at night. Both groups were instructed to avoid tooth contact and relax the masticatory muscles during the 4 weeks of active treatment. Outcome data were collected at 1 month and 1 year post-treatment intervals. Pain decreased significantly for both groups and did not differ between groups. Habit reversal may be as effective as a behaviorally-modified splint therapy for TMD-related pain.  相似文献

Fiddler crabs are highly sexually dimorphic. Males possess one small (minor) feeding claw and one greatly enlarged (major) claw; females possess two small claws. The major claw is used to attract mates and for burrow defense, but it is costly for the male to possess. We tested the hypothesis that the major claw also functions as a thermoregulatory structure, a function that would allow males to spend a greater amount of time at the surface, foraging and attracting potential mates. Fiddler crabs Uca panacea were exposed to a source of radiant heat and body temperatures were monitored. Four groups of crabs were tested: intact males, males with the minor claw removed, males with the major claw removed, and females. The body temperatures of males without the major claw increased more rapidly and reached higher values than did those of males with the major claw intact, but the results from these animals were similar to those of females. These results support the hypothesized thermoregulatory function of the major claw. The major claw may function as a heat sink, transferring heat away from the body and dissipating it into the air. Enhanced thermoregulatory ability provided by the major claw may partially ameliorate the energetic costs of possessing such a large claw.  相似文献

W. E. Le Gros Clark concluded in his study of the problem of the primate claw that the essential difference between claw and nail is the presence of a terminal matrix associated with a deep layer in the claw, whereas neither terminal matrix nor deep layer exists in the nail. He demonstrated that the marmoset claw (which tips every digit except the hallux) has a thin deep layer and a recognizable terminal matrix. The present paper reports and discusses evidence that the marmoset nail also has a deep layer and terminal matrix. Although the importance of these structures in the claw is not disputed, it appears that these can no longer be considered absolute differences between claw and nail. On the basis of this evidence, it cannot be claimed that the presence of the deep layer and terminal matrix determines the distinctive shape of the claw as opposed to the nail.  相似文献

The major claws of predatory, durophagous decapods are specialized structures that are routinely used to crush the armor of their prey. This task requires the generation of extremely strong forces, among the strongest forces measured for any animal in any activity. Laboratory studies have shown that claw strength in crabs can respond plastically to, and thereby potentially match, the strength of their prey's defensive armor. These results suggest that claw strength may be variable among natural populations of crabs. However, very few studies have investigated spatial variation in claw strength and related morphometric traits in crabs. Using three geographically separate populations of the invasive green crab in the Gulf of Maine, we demonstrate, for the first time, geographic variation in directly measured claw crushing forces in a brachyuran. Despite variation in mean claw strength however, the scaling of claw crushing force with claw size was consistent among populations. We found that measurements of crushing force were obtained with low error and were highly repeatable for individual crabs. We also show that claw mass, independent of a linear measure of claw size, and carapace color, which is an indicator of time spent in the intermoult, were important predictors of claw crushing force.  相似文献

Pedal claw geometry can be used to predict behaviour in extant tetrapods and has frequently been used as an indicator of lifestyle and ecology in Mesozoic birds and other fossil reptiles, sometimes without acknowledgement of the caveat that data from other aspects of morphology and proportions also need to be considered. Variation in styles of measurement (both inner and outer claw curvature angles) has made it difficult to compare results across studies, as have over-simplified ecological categories. We sought to increase sample size in a new analysis devised to test claw geometry against ecological niche. We found that taxa from different behavioural categories overlapped extensively in claw geometry. Whilst most taxa plotted as predicted, some fossil taxa were recovered in unexpected positions. Inner and outer claw curvatures were statistically correlated, and both correlated with relative claw robusticity (mid-point claw height). We corrected for mass and phylogeny, as both likely influence claw morphology. We conclude that there is no strong mass-specific effect on claw curvature; furthermore, correlations between claw geometry and behaviour are consistent across disparate clades. By using independent contrasts to correct for phylogeny, we found little significant relationship between claw geometry and behaviour. ‘Ground-dweller’ claws are less curved and relatively dorsoventrally deep relative to those of other behavioural categories; beyond this it is difficult to assign an explicit category to a claw based purely on geometry.  相似文献

The vacuum splint has been shown to be a simple, safe and effective method of emergency splinting of fractured extremities. The splint is simply constructed from clear vinyl sheeting and contains 2-mm. expanded polystyrene balls. Evacuation of air causes the splint to become rigid, thereby providing stability and immobilization of the limb. The splint is radiolucent, containing no obstructive metal components that would interfere with the radiographic appearance of the injured limb. The ease of application of this splint makes it especially effective for the emergency splinting of fractures in children.  相似文献

Approximately 88% of Norwegian dairy cattle are housed in tie stalls. Free stall housing for all dairy cattle will be implemented within 20 years. This means that the majority of existing stalls will be rebuilt in the near future. Fifty-seven free stall herds of the Norwegian Red breed were randomly selected and 1547 cows and 403 heifers were trimmed by 13 claw trimmers during the late winter and spring of 2002. The claw trimmers had been taught diagnosing and recording of claw lesions. Environment, management- and feeding routines were also recorded. Fifty-three herds had concrete slatted alleys while 4 had solid concrete. Thirty-five herds had concrete as a stall base, while 17 had rubber mats, 2 had wood and 3 had deep litter straw beds. The prevalence of lameness was 1.6% in hind claws. Models for lameness and claw lesions were designed to estimate the influence of different risk factors and to account for the cluster effects within herd and claw trimmer. Detected risk factors for lameness were: parity three and above and narrow cubicles; for heel horn erosions: lactation stage around 5–7 months after calving and solid concrete alleys; for haemorrhages of the white line: lactation stage around 3–5 months after calving and solid concrete alleys; for haemorrhages of the sole: parity one, lactation stage around 5–7 months after calving and short cubicles, for white line fissures: slatted concrete alleys; for asymmetrical claws: parities two and above and for corkscrewed claws: solid concrete alleys. The prevalence of lameness in heifers was low, however 29% had one or more claw lesions. Heifers that were housed in pens or free stalls had more heel-horn erosions, haemorrhages of the sole and white-line fissures than heifers in tie stalls. As new free stalls are being built, it is important to optimise the conditions for claw health.  相似文献

目的:探讨闭合复位与切开复位对桡骨远端骨折患者的临床疗效。方法:回顾性分析2013年6月至2014年3月我院收治的60例桡骨远端骨折患者,随机数字表法分为切开复位组和闭合复位组,每组30例。闭合复位组患者给予闭合复位小夹板或石膏固定治疗,切开复位组患者给予切开复位内固定术治疗。观察并比较两组患者治疗前后掌倾角、尺偏角以及桡骨长度、术中出血量和手术时间,骨折愈合时间以及患者临床疗效进行检测并比较。结果:与治疗前相比,治疗后患者的掌倾角、尺偏角、桡骨长度水平均升高(P0.05);与闭合复位组相比,切开复位组患者掌倾角、尺偏角、桡骨长度评分水平较高(P0.05),术中出血量、手术时间水平较高(P0.05),临床治疗的优良率较高(P0.05),两组患者的骨折愈合时间无显著差异(P0.05)。结论:与闭合复位相比,切开复位能够明显恢复桡骨远端骨折患者的掌倾角、尺偏角以及桡骨长度,但手术时间以及术中出血量较多,临床疗效较好,两组患者的骨折愈合时间无明显差异。  相似文献

Stress due to claw ablation was tested in Macrobrachium rosenbergii males. Dietary high protein and vitamin C were supplemented for amelioration of stress. We used four different treatments: fed with 25% protein and a normal dose (0.12%) of vitamin C (T(1)); 35% protein and a normal dose (0.12%) of vitamin C (T(2)); 25% protein and a high dose (0.24%) of vitamin C (T(3)); and high protein 35% and a high dose (0.24%) of vitamin C (T(4)) for 30 days. All test prawns (T(1) to T(4)) were subjected to ablation of their second chelate legs after the 15th day of the feeding trial. A control treatment was maintained without claw ablation and fed with 25% protein. Haemolymph glucose, hepatopancreatic glycogen, muscle ascorbate and enzyme activities (glucose 6 phosphatase (G6Pase), fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in hepatopancreas) were tested at different recovery periods (0, 6, 24 h, 7 and 14 days). Results indicate a high glucose level immediately after claw ablation and a concomitant increase in gluconeogenic enzymes (G6Pase and FBPase). However, glycogen reserves were regained in the treatments due to claw ablation stress after 24 h. LDH and ALT activity decreased in the hepatopancreas of M. rosenbergii up to 24 h after claw ablation. Overall results indicate that claw ablation is stressful to M. rosenbergii and high protein and vitamin C diet may mitigate stress due to claw ablation.  相似文献

The closer muscle of large-clawed decapod crustaceans undergoes a proecdysial (premolt) atrophy to facilitate withdrawal of the appendage at ecdysis. This atrophy involves the activation of both calcium-dependent (calpains) and ubiquitin (Ub)/proteasome-dependent proteolytic systems that break down proteins to reduce muscle mass. Moreover, the large slow-twitch (S(1)) fibers undergo a greater atrophy than the small slow-tonic (S(2)) fibers. Both polyUb mRNA and Ub-protein conjugates increase during claw muscle atrophy. In this study in situ hybridization and RT-PCR were used to determine the temporal and spatial expression of polyUb and alpha-actin. A cDNA encoding the complete sequence of lobster muscle alpha-actin was characterized; a probe synthesized from the cDNA provided a positive control for optimizing RT-PCR and in situ hybridization. PolyUb was expressed at low levels in claw closer muscle from anecdysial (intermolt) land crab. By early proecdysis (premolt; stage D(0)), polyUb mRNA levels increased in medial fibers that insert along the midline of the apodeme, with greater expression in S(1) than S(2), while levels remained low in peripheral fibers. By late proecdysis, polyUb mRNA decreased in central fibers, while mRNA increased in peripheral S(1) fibers. In contrast, alpha-actin was expressed in lobster claw muscles at relatively constant levels during the intermolt cycle. These results suggest that Ub/proteasome-dependent proteolysis contributes to enhanced turnover of myofibrillar proteins during claw closer muscle atrophy. Furthermore, atrophy is not synchronous within the muscle; it begins in medial fibers and then progresses peripherally.  相似文献

The link between claw morphology and function has been historically difficult to quantify, analyze, and interpret. A confounding factor is the ambiguous morphological relationship between the ungual and the sheath and whether one structure or the other is more useful for inferring function from morphology. In this study, the functional morphology of vertebrate claws is analyzed using sheath and ungual measurements taken from modern claw specimens spanning birds and mammals. Claw measurements were chosen for their potential biomechanical significance and a revised, expanded categorization of claw function is used. When corresponding claw measurements from the ungual and sheath are compared independently, some features are highly correlated whereas others are not. A principal component analysis of the claw measurements reveals that some of the morphological disparity is related to functional differences; however, different functional categories are not clearly separated based solely on morphology. A linear discriminant analysis incorporating a supervised dimensionality reduction method (J-function) successfully classifies 94.52% of the claw specimens to their documented functional categories. When the posterior probabilities of each classification are examined, and the next highest probabilities are considered, the analysis can successfully classify 98.63% of the claw specimens. Sheath measurements perform better than ungual measurements but combining measurements from both structures perform better than considering either structure individually. Both structures contribute valuable morphological information when it comes to inferring claw function from morphology.  相似文献

Ulnar longitudinal deficiency (ULD) is a rare condition of the upper limbs. Although radius lengthening for radial longitudinal deficiencies (RLD) was found to be successful, no ulnar lengthening for ULD without RLD and hand deformities has been reported. Herein, we present a Bayne type II ULD case report of the ulnar lengthening and gradual reduction of the dislocated radial head in an 11-year-old boy using a half-ring sulcated external fixator. For ulnar lengthening/radial longitudinal traction for radial head reduction, transverse osteotomy in mid ulna was performed and half-ring sulcated external fixator was used for ulnar distraction lengthening. Radial longitudinal traction and stabilization of external fixator were achieved by transverse pins through ulna and radius. Distraction (1 mm/day) began at 5th day and was completed at 95th postoperative day. External fixator was applied for 7 months. Successful ulnar lengthening (81 mm; 62 % gain) was achieved 1-year after the surgery and the range of elbow motion at 2 years was >40°. Forearm rotation and wrist extension/flexion were also preserved with no complaints of pain. We concluded that ulnar distraction lengthening and gradual reduction of radial head could improve appearance of the arm and were of significant benefit to the patient.  相似文献

The form of amniote claws has been extensively investigated, often with inferences about ecological association being drawn from studies of their geometry. Various methods have been used to quantify differences in the geometry of claws, but rarely have the underlying assumptions of such methods been addressed. Here, we use one set of bird claws and apply six methods (five that have been previously used, and a new one) that are tasked with comparing their shape. In doing so, we compare the (1) ability of these methods to represent the shape of the claw; (2) validity of the assumptions made about underlying claw geometry; (3) their ability to be applied unambiguously; and (4) their ability to differentiate between predetermined functional clusters. We find that of the six methods considered only the geometric morphometric approach reveals differences in the shapes of bird claws. Our comparison shows that geometry‐based methods can provide a general estimate of the degree of curvature of claw arcs, but are unable to differentiate between shapes. Of all of the geometry‐based approaches, we conclude that the adjusted version of the Zani (2000) method is the most useful because it can be applied without ambiguity, and provides a reliable estimate of claw curvature. The three landmarks that define that method (tip and base of the claw arc, plus the intersection between said claw arc and a line drawn perpendicular from the midpoint of tip and claw base) do not all bear biological significance, but relatively clearly circumscribe the length‐to‐height ratio of the claw, which relates to its curvature. Overall, our comparisons reveal that the shape of avian claws does not differ significantly between climbing and perching birds, and that the utilization of preordained functional clusters in comparative data analysis can hinder the discovery of meaningful differences in claw shape. The venom apparatus of Ethmostigmus rubripes, a generalized predator, consists of the telopodites of the postcephalic segment, the basal article of w which contains the venom gland. Within the gland, venom granules are concentrated in intracellular secretory granules, from which they are discharged into vacuoles in the cytoplasm of the secretory cells and thereafter by exocytosis into the lumen of the gland. A venom duct carries venom to the venom claw, which introduces it into prey via a subterminal pore on the outer curvature of the claw. Pits containing pegs, presumed to be sensory, are concentrated near grooves leading to a cutting ridge proximal to the point of the claw. The venom is toxic both to mammals and insects.  相似文献

One of the possible costs of the male fiddler crabs enlarged claw can be conspicuousness to predators. This hypothesis was tested using human observers as a model of visual predators. In the European fiddler crab, Uca tangeri Eydoux, the males' major claw is white contrasting with the orange-brownish colour of the carapace and of the feeding claw, and the mudflat background. The following morphotypes were created from close-up photographs taken in nature using an image processing software: male, male without claw, female, female with enlarged claw, male with enlarged claw of the same colour of the feeding claw, male with 75% sized claw, male with 50% sized claw. These morphotypes were then presented in a randomised order to students, using a psychology test software, which allows the measurement of response time in msec. The subjects were allowed to look at the images for an unlimited amount of time, until they detected the individual or until they decided to pass on to another image. Backgrounds (i.e. mudflat picture) without individuals were also presented as a control. Male crabs were detected significantly sooner than females. When we compared males with the claw removed with females with an enlarged claw added, the pattern is reversed and the latter are detected significantly faster. Thus, the enlarged claw seems to be the key feature that makes the individuals more conspicuous. Size and colour seem to be the main aspects of the claw's conspicuousness. The data of these experiments support the initial prediction of males being more conspicuous than females because of their enlarged claw. The possible costs and benefits of this trait, related to predation, are discussed.  相似文献

In the mussel Mytilus edulis, the activities of phosphoenolpyruvate car?ykinase (PEP-CK) and of malate dehydrogenase (MDH) are greater than those of pyruvate kinase (PK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH). The activities of PEP-CK are very low in the lobster (H. vulgaris.) and the ratio of MDH/LDH activities are 0·041 and 1·83 in the tail and the claw muscles respectively. Intracellular L-lactate and L-alanine concentrations suggest a different carbohydrate utilization in the tail and the claw muscle of the lobster. Consistent with this finding is the fact that L-lactate concentration is higher in the tail muscle than in the claw muscle; the opposite is true for L-alanine concentrations.  相似文献

Whatever method is used to correct the deformity of the cleft lip nose, it is important to maintain the corrected contour of the nose for a certain period postoperatively. For this purpose, moldable silicone rubber is used to add volume to a ready-made nostril splint. With this material it is easy to make a splint that fits the individual contour of the nostril.
