Specimens of Periclimenaeus fimbriatus Borradaile, 1915, a palaemonid shrimp reported from only three localities in the Western Indian Ocean, are described and illustrated. The species is removed from the genus Periclimenaeus Borradaile and a new genus Paraclimenaeus is designated for its accommodation. The characteristic features of the genus and its relationships are discussed. The palaemonid shrimp genera associated with sponge hosts are reviewed and a key provided for their identification  相似文献

本文对毛腿鼠耳蝠血液的有形成分和百分比等项正常数值进行了测定,并对各类血细胞的主要形态作了描述。 所测的各项数值与前人报道的数据比较,其红细胞数目和血红素含量都高于同属的其他种,也较其他哺乳动物为高。毛腿鼠耳蝠与该属有些种类的淋巴细胞数目占全部白细胞的百分数最高,也明显高于其他哺乳动物。  相似文献

Branchiobdellida (Oligochaeta) from the farthest South-East of the U.S.S.R.   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Eight species of the genera Branchiobdella and Cirrodrilus are reported from the Soviet Far East. Six of them from the Komarovka Stream in the Ussuriiski State Nature Reserve: Branchiobdella cheni (Liu, 1964), B. domina sp.n., Cirrodrilus chosen (Yamaguchi, 1934), C. suzukii (Yamaguchi, 1934), C. pugnax sp.n., and C. fimbriatus sp.n. Branchiobdellidans are abundant in this stream, occurring on the crayfishes Cambaroides dauricus wladiwostokensis as well as in benthic samples. Two from the northern Amur River basin near Khabarovsk: Branchiobdella minuta Pierantoni, 1912, and Cirrodrilus quadritentacularis (Liu, 1984), living on the crayfishes Cambaroides dauricus dauricus and C. schrencki . The genus Cirrodrilus demonstrates several trends of parallel variation on the Asian continent and the Japanese Islands; the more apomorphic genus Branchiobdella seems to be absent in Japan.  相似文献

Melocalamus Benth. consists of five species. Through a comprehensive study of history, morphology, and all specimens available, the authors confirm the occurrence in China of M. compactiflorus (Kurz.) Benth. et Hook f., the type of the genus, and two species, M. scandens Hsueh ct Hui, M. fimbriatus Hsueh et Hui, are described as new. A key to speciesis provided.  相似文献

The life cycle of Amblyospora camposi n. sp. is described from the mosquito Culex renatoi and the copepod Paracyclops fimbriatus fimbriatus collected in the leaf axils of the plant Eryngium cabrerae in Argentina. Meiospores of A. camposi (5.8 x 4.1 microm) were infectious per os to female adults of the copepod P. f. fimbriatus. All developmental stages in the copepod had unpaired nuclei, with sporulation involving the formation of a sub-persistent, sporontogenic, interfacial envelope and the production of a second type of uninucleate spore. These spores, formed in the ovaries of P. f. fimbriatus, were large, pyriform, and measured 10.70 x 3.85 microm. When ingested they infected C. renatoi larvae to initiate a sequence that involves schizogony and gametogony and ends with plasmogamy and nuclear association to form diplokaryotic meronts. Oblong ovate binucleate spores (7.86 x 2.96 microm) are formed in the adult mosquito and are responsible for vertical transmission to the filial generation. This is the first report of an Amblyospora species from a mosquito that inhabits the small-water bodies held in parts of terresterial plants (phytotelmata).  相似文献

Comparative morphology of the leaf epidermis in Schisandra (Schisandraceae)   总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9  
The leaf epidermis of 127 samples representing ten species within Schisandra Michaux. and one species of the related genus, Kadsura Kaempf. ex Juss., was investigated using light and scanning electron microscopy. Many characters of the leaf epidermis in Schisandra , such as pattern of epidermal cells, type of stomata, shape of guard cell pairs and cuticular ornamentation, are usually constant within species and thus make good characters for studying the relationship between and within genera. A new character, rim number, of the outer stomatal rim in the genus is introduced. It is shown that double outer stomatal rims occur only in evergreen Schisandra species, whereas a single rim occurs in deciduous species. This character supports the classification of Schisandra into two subgenera based on habit and androecial organs. This classification is also supported by additional morphological and molecular taxonomic characters. Kadsura coccinea (Lem.) Smith A. C. is the most primitive taxon in the related genus Kadsura . The outer stomatal rim of this species also has double rims. Combined with morphological and molecular evidence, this suggests that Schisandra and Kadsura are closely related and may share a recent common ancestor.  © 2005 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2005, 148 , 39–56.  相似文献

Mucus is applied to substrates as snails move and when they rest. Beyond the use of mucus in movement and adhesion, the wide array of chemicals in mucus allows for supplemental use in communication. This communication is apparent in trail-following behavior. This study addresses the potential communication via mucus in selecting resting sites in a laboratory assay. In a series of six experiments, individuals of Cornu aspersum (which often rest on above-ground surfaces) were placed into lidded plastic containers with three or four sections swabbed with water (the control) or mucus, which included the test snail's own mucus, mucus from conspecifics from the same or a different container holding snails from the same lab colony, or from a different colony, and mucus from three additional snail species. The resting location was recorded on the following day. In two additional experiments, the facultative predator Rumina decollata was tested against conspecific and other snails' mucus. Individuals of C. aspersum preferentially rested in areas with the mucus of familiar conspecifics over mucus of unfamiliar conspecifics, a behavior that may contribute to homing and aggregation behaviors. There was evidence that juveniles may be less selective than adults. The mucus of only one of the three other species was avoided by individuals of C. aspersum. Unlike individuals of C. aspersum, individuals of the predator R. decollata avoided the mucus of conspecifics, which may be associated with less need for mate-finding in this self-fertilizing species. Individuals of R. decollata did not select among potential prey species.  相似文献

Twenty-one species of Chalarus Walker are described from Europe, 11 of them new. The puparial remains of 15 species are described. Type material of all previously described Chalarus species except C. velutinus (Macquart, 1835) was examined. The status of C. holosericeus (Meigen, 1824) is revised, and exiguus (Haliday, 1833) is confirmed as a valid species. Lectotypes are designated for C. holosericeus and C. spurius (Fallén, 1816). Five species-groups are tentatively proposed. Separate keys to females and males are given. The status of Chalarus species described from outside Europe is discussed, and two of these, C. kamijoi Morakote, in Morakote & Hirashima (1990) and C. konishii Morakote, in Morakote & Hirashima (1990), are synonymized with fimbriatus Coe and exiguus (Haliday) respectively. The functional significance of some taxonomic characters, particularly of the eyes and ovipositor, is discussed.  相似文献

We analyzed the nucleolus organizer regions (NORs) of thirteen bats from genera Phyllostomus, Phylloderma, Trachops, Tonatia, Sturnira, Platyrrhinus, Artibeus and Glossophaga. We used silver staining and FISH with rDNA probe. Nine species had only one Ag-NOR-bearing chromosome pair. Artibeus lituratus, A. jamaicensis and A. fimbriatus presented multiple Ag-NORs located in the short arms of pairs 5, 6 and 7, and an additional mark in the long arm of one chromosome 5 in A. fimbriatus. Artibeus cinereus showed Ag-NORs in the chromosome pairs 10 and 13. The chromosomal location of rRNA genes using FISH agreed with the number and position of NORs in all but one species. In A. cinereus the hybridization signals were seen in three chromosome pairs 9, 10 and 13. This suggests the occurrence of silent NORs in pair 9. Differences in the size and intensity of the hybridization signals were also observed in the pair 9 of A. cinereus.  相似文献

In the present study, we use mtDNA sequence data (cyt b gene) in combination with nuclear DNA sequences (C-mos, Rag2 genes, R35 intron), nuclear genomic fingerprints (ISSR) and morphological data to reveal species diversity within the Southeast Asian leaf turtle genus Cyclemys , a morphologically difficult group comprising cryptic species. Two morphologically distinct major groupings exist, a yellow-bellied species group with three taxa ( Cyclemys atripons , C. dentata , C. pulchristriata ) and a dark-bellied species group. The latter contains besides the morphologically variable C. oldhamii three additional new species ( C. enigmatica n. sp., C. fusca n. sp., C. gemeli n. sp.). According to mtDNA data, C. fusca and C. gemeli constitute with high support the sister group of a clade comprising all other species, indicating that the dark-bellied species are not monophyletic, despite morphological similarity. mtDNA sequences of C. enigmatica , being highly distinct in nuclear genomic markers, do not differ from the sympatric C. dentata , suggesting that the original mitochondrial genome of C. enigmatica was lost due to introgressive hybridization. Morphological discrimination of Cyclemys species is possible using multivariate methods. However, gross morphology of most dark-bellied species on the one hand and of C. atripons and C. pulchristriata on the other is so similar that reliable species determination is only possible when genetic markers are used. The high diversity within Cyclemys requires revision of the IUCN Red List Categories for leaf turtles because the former assessment was based on the wrong assumption that in the entire range of the genus occurs only a single species.  相似文献

Cornukaempferia is a recently described genus of Zingiberaceae which only occurs in Thailand as a rare genus with limited geographical distribution. Only three species have been described so far, including a recently described new species, C. larsenii. These three species are morphologically very similar and additional data on other biological aspects are useful for the elucidation of their relationship. Pollen morphology of all three species of genus Cornukaempferia has been studied by light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The pollen grains are monad, spherical, inaperturate. The exine sculpture is echinate with psilate between the spines for C. aurantiflora and C. longipetiolata, or echinate with regulate between the spines for C. larsenii. This obser-vation helps support the taxonomic status of C. larsenii.  相似文献

作为一种重要的食源性致病菌,阪崎肠杆菌因能引起新生婴幼儿脑膜炎、坏死性小肠结肠炎而受到了政府和社会的高度重视。2008年,阪崎肠杆菌被提议重新另立为隶属于肠杆菌科的一个包含有5个新种的新属——Cronobacter gen.Nov.。新属的五个种之间毒力作用存在差异,外膜蛋白A在黏附和抗吞噬过程中发挥了重要作用,同时本属菌株的侵入力在宿主细胞间的紧密联系被破坏时显著提高,但是一些肠道益生菌能抑制该菌侵入。目前阪崎肠杆菌的致病研究还比较分散,没有形成系统性,详细的致病机制期待进一步阐明。  相似文献

Morphological investigations identified 11 Ceramium Roth species, of the 18 previously reported from Brazil. Phylogenetic analyses of sequences of the chloroplast‐encoded rbcL gene confirmed the presence of seven of these species. Three other species are reported from Brazil for the first time. Ceramium affine Setchell & Gardner and C. filicula Harvey ex Womersley were previously known only from the Pacific Ocean (Mexico and Australia, respectively). A new species, C. fujianum Barros‐Barreto et Maggs sp. nov., is described here. Its general habit is similar to that of C. strictum sensu Harvey from Europe but it has one less periaxial cell than C. strictum; its cortical filament arrangement is closest to C. deslongchampsii Chauvin ex Duby, also from Europe, but whorled tetrasporangia partially covered by cortical cells differ strikingly from the naked protruding tetrasporangia of C. deslongchampsii. Ceramium species in which each periaxial cell cuts off transversely only a single basipetal cell formed a robust clade. The genus Ceramium as represented in Brazil is not monophyletic with respect to Centroceras Kützing and Corallophila Weber‐van Bosse; Ceramium nitens, which has axial cells completely covered by rounded cortical cells formed by acropetal and basipetal filaments, did not group with any Ceramium clade but was weakly allied to a species of Corallophila. All three Brazilian Centroceras sequences were attributed to a single species, C. clavulatum.  相似文献

Paracyclops longispina n. sp. and Paracyclops altissimus n. sp. are described. New characters derived from detailed examination of body and limb ornamentation are used to differentiate them from other Paracyclops species. Paracyclops longispina n. sp. resembles Paracyclops fimbriatus (Fischer, 1853) and Paracyclops imminutus Kiefer, 1929. It differs from the former by the presence of a well-developed spinular row near the base of the inner setae on the antennal coxobasis in both sexes, and from the latter in the structure of the seminal receptacle and the position of the mid-distal spinular row on the posterior surface of the coxa of leg 1. Paracyclops altissimus n. sp. can be distinguished from other members of genus mainly by the structure of the seminal receptacle and leg 5. SUMMARY. The development times of the egg, nauplius and copepodite stages of seven species of freshwater benthic copepods ( Paracyclops fimbriatus, Canthocamptus staphylinus, Attheyella crassa, Moraria brevipes, M. mrazeki, Bryocamptus echinatus and Paracamptus schmeili ) were determined at constant temperatures ranging from 1.5 to 24°C using detritus as food. Several regression models used earlier to describe the temperature dependence of development were tested on this material.
Species differed both in the rapidity of development and in the magnitude of the effect of temperature. Development times usually decreased with increasing temperature, but in M. brevipes temperatures exceeding 16°C retarded postembryonic development. P. fimbriatus developed at a rate comparable to that reported earlier for littoral cyclopoids. All the harpacticoid species developed more slowly than planktonic, littoral or benthic copepods previously studied, but faster than subterranean species. The effect of temperature was most marked in species reproducing in warm water.
The relationship between rate of development and temperature was not linear. None of the curvilinear temperature functions tested was statistically adequate in all cases. However, three of the models gave a reasonable fit to all egg development data, and one of these, the semilogarithmic quadratic equation, ln D = In a + T In b + T2 In c , also satisfactorily described postembryonic development. This model accommodates the retardation of development at higher temperatures, and can therefore be recommended for further testing.  相似文献

Abstract

Cordylecladia guiryi sp. nov. is described from the Mediterranean Sea, after a comparison of habit, morphology and reproduction with C. erecta, the only species of the genus. The species is characterized by the small dimension of its axes which arise single from the basal crust and by its habitat, growing epiphytically on Posidonia oceanica Delile leaves. Tetrasporangial and gametangial plants as well as the development of the carposporophyte have been studied in detail. The carpogonial branch is 4-celled and it is formed on a supporting cell that also bears a 3-celled auxiliary branch. Tetrasporangia are cruciately divided. The reproductive details confirm Sparling's view about the great variation existing in the organization of the procarp in members of this order.  相似文献

Traditionally the genus Microglena Ehrenberg has been used to contain species that belong to the Chrysophyceae; however, the type species of Microglena, M. monadina, represents a green alga, which was later transferred to the genus Chlamydomonas. The taxonomic status of the genus has therefore remained unclear. We investigated 15 strains previously assigned to C. monadina and two marine species (C. reginae and C. uva-maris) using an integrative approach. Phylogenetic analyses of SSU and ITS rDNA sequences revealed that all strains form a monophyletic lineage within the Chlorophyceae containing species from different habitats. The strains studied showed similar morphology with respect to cell shape and size, but showed differences in chloroplast and pyrenoid structures. Some representatives of this group have the same type of sexual reproduction (homothallic advanced anisogamy). Three different morphotypes could be recognized. Strains belonging to type I have a cup-shaped chloroplast with a massive basal part, in which a large, single, ellipsoidal pyrenoid is located. The members of type II also have a cup-shaped chloroplast, which is partly lobed and has a thinner basal part than type I; here the pyrenoid is half-ring or horseshoe-shaped and occupies different positions in the chloroplast depending on the strain. The strains of type III have multiple pyrenoids, which appear to have developed from the subdivision of a single ring-shaped pyrenoid into several parts. We compared the results of our morphological investigations with the literature and found that 15 strains could be identified with existing species. Two strains did not fit with any described species. As a result of our study, we transfer all strains to the genus Microglena, propose 11 new combinations, and describe two new species. Comparison of the ITS-1 and ITS-2 secondary structures confirmed the species delineations. All species have characteristic compensatory base changes in their ITS secondary structures and are supported by ITS-2 DNA barcodes.  相似文献

Nuclear genome size of conifers as measured by flow cytometry with propidium iodide was investigated, striving to collect at least a single species from each genus. 64 out of 67 genera and 172 species were measured. Of the 67 genera, 21 are reported here for the first time and the same is true for 76 species. This nearly doubles the number of measured genera and adds 50% to the number of analyzed species. Conifers have chromosome numbers in the range of n = (7)10–12(19). However, the nuclear DNA content (2C‐value) is shown here to range from 8.3 to 71.6 picogram. The largest genome contains roughly 6 × 1010 more base pairs than the smallest genome. Genome sizes are evaluated and compared with available taxonomic treatments. For the mainly (sub)tropical Podocarpaceae small genome sizes were found with a 2C‐value of only 8–28 pg, with 13.5 pg on average. For the Taxaceae 2C‐values from 23–60 pg were determined. Not surprisingly, the genus Pinus with 97 species (39 species measured here) has a broad range with 2C = 38–72 pg. A factor of 2 difference is also found in the Cupressaceae (136 species) with nuclear DNA contents in the range 18–35 pg. Apart from the allohexaploid Sequoia, ploidy plays a role only in Juniperus and some new polyploids are found. The data on genome size support conclusions on phylogenetic relationships obtained by DNA sequencing. Flow cytometry is applicable even to young plants or seeds for the monitoring of trade in endangered species.  相似文献
