Alpha and beta adrenergic blocking drugs were administered, either singly or in combination, prior to a 3hr adrenaline infusion (2 microgram kg body wt-1 min-1)), Animals were premediated with either phenoxybenzamine (1 mg kg body wt-1 min-1). Phenoxybenzamine did not affect circulating adrenaline levels, but propranolol, either alone or in combination with phenoxybenzamine, resulted in a significant reduction in plasma adrenaline levels when compared with the control unblocked situation of adrenaline infusion without premedication. The results provide a possible explanation for the protective effect of combined adrenergic blockade in shock situations.  相似文献

The content of cholesterol, phospholipids, free fatty acids in the blood, ketone bodies and lipid peroxidation in the liver, brain, myocardium, skeletal muscles of Rana ridibunda were studied. Changes in the lipid content in blood during artificial hypothermia differ from those during hibernation and arousal. The utilization of reserve fats during hibernation is limited, but significantly rises during arousal. The ability to spontaneous lipid peroxidation under conditions of homogenate incubation at 37 degrees C does not increase in the studied tissues during hibernation.  相似文献

The effect of intraabdominal injection of the blood serum from ground squirrels Citellus undulatus obtained at various stages of the baut has been studied on the level of oxygen consumption in albino mice. The strongest hypometabolic effect exhibited the blood plasma from animals at the beginning of the baut. The onset of baut was used in further experiments on C. undulatus for investigation of activating effects of neokiotorphin (Thr-Ser-Lys-Tyr-Arg) which was earlier found in the brain of the ground squirrel. It was shown that intraabdominal injection of this peptide to hibernating animals facilitates their arousal stimulating both the cardiac activity and respiration. The strongest effect was noted with neokiotorphin of [D-Ser] 2-modification which is more stable to proteolysis.  相似文献

Plasma from hibernating woodchucks was desalted utilizing a hollow fiber device having a M. W. cut-off of 5,000. This preparation was fractionated by isoelectric focusing (IEF) in a pH gradient extending from 3.5 to 10.0 resulting in protein components having isoelectric points (pIs) of 4.5, 5.2, 5.5, 6.3, and 7.0. Fraction I (comprised of proteins having pIs of 4.5 and 5.2) induced hibernation within 2 to 6 days in 8 out of 10 summer-active ground squirrels. Fraction II (pI 5.5) and Fraction III (pI 6.3 and 7.0) failed to induce any summer hibernation in 10 animal test groups at identical sample concentrations. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of Fraction I indicated that albumin was a major constituent of this still heterogeneous preparation. Thus, in order to more clearly define the plasma locus of this hibernation inducing trigger(s) (HIT) molecule, whole plasma and/or Fraction I was fractionated by 3 distinct resolving techniques. These included sub-fractionation of Fraction I by isoelectric focusing utilizing a narrower pH gradient extending from 3.5 to 6.0, isotachophoresis of whole plasma and affinity chromatography of Fraction I and whole plasma. A total of 40 summer-active ground squirrels were injected and assayed for HIT activity with fractionated preparations derived by the three previously cited separation techniques. A total of 18 of these summer-active ground squirrels hibernated. However, a much more impressive figure is that 16 out of 21 animals hibernated when injected with resolved hibernating plasma fractions in which albumin was the predominant plasma protein. A total of 8 control animals were injected with vehicle and none of these hibernated.  相似文献

During the rock lizard hibernation, no nuclear division occurs in the exoerythrocytar trophozoites of Karyolysus sp., found in hepatocytes or Kupffer's cells. In addition, organelles of the apical complex are seen persisting in these trophozoites, unlike the situation routinely observed in the majority of other intracellular sporozoans. Thus, the parasites under study can be compared with hypnozoites of other coccidia. The material being examined from natural rather than experimental conditions, during lizards' hibernation, the dynamics of host-parasite interrelations can be followed that involves the appearance in the infected cell of autophagous vacuoles, changes in mitochondrial structure and pattern of endoplasmic reticulum, the connection of the system of lamellar channels with the space of the parasitophorous vacuole. The results of the present observations may suggest, first, that during the host hibernation, exoerythrocytar trophozoites of Karyolysus being intracellular in their spatial distribution, are able to obtain nutrients from the outer, extracellular space, through the system of lamellar channels; second, that these channels can represent intercellular connections, which makes one consider the exoerythrocytar trophozoites as intercellular rather than intracellular parasites.  相似文献

The digestive tract is the largest endocrine organ in the body; the distribution pattern of endocrine cells varies with different pathological and physiological states. The aim of the present study was to investigate the distributed density of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), gastrin (GAS), somatostatin (SS) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) immunoreactive (IR) cells in the digestive tract of Alligator sinensis during the active and hibernating period by immunohistochemical (IHC) method. The results indicated that 5-HT-IR cells were distributed throughout the entire digestive tract, which were most predominant in duodenum and jejunum. The density increased significantly in stomach and duodenum during hibernation. GAS-IR cells were limited in small stomach and small intestine. The density decreased significantly in small stomach during hibernation, while increased in duodenum. What's more, most of the endocrine cells in duodenum were generally spindle shaped with long cytoplasmic processes ending in the lumen during hibernation. SS-IR cells were limited in stomach and small stomach. The density increased in stomach while decreased in small stomach during hibernation, meanwhile, fewer IR cells occurred in small intestine. VIP-IR cells occurred in stomach and small stomach. The density decreased in small stomach, while increased in stomach during hibernation. These results indicated that the endocrine cells in different parts of digestive tract varied differently during hibernation, their changes were adaptive response to the hibernation.  相似文献

1. The effects of surgery and anaesthesia on adrenaline and noradrenaline plasma levels were investigated in the eel (Anguilla anguilla L.). 2. Effect of surgery: highest values were obtained when putting back the fish in water. Three hours after surgery, adrenaline and noradrenaline plasma levels were always significantly higher than those obtained 24 and 48 hr after surgery. 3. Effect of anaesthesia: anaesthesia only had no effect on adrenaline and noradrenaline plasma levels. 4. It was concluded that the trauma of surgery was mainly responsible for the elevation of CA plasma levels in the eel. A minimum post-operative period of 24 hr should be allowed before any blood sampling for estimation of resting CA plasma levels. Resting adrenaline and noradrenaline plasma levels, 48 hr after surgery, were respectively 1.31 +/- 0.38 and 3.37 +/- 0.41 pmol/ml.  相似文献

The effects of beta-selective blockade with metoprolol on the glucagon blood plasma level during insulin-induced hypoglycemia were studied in 20 control dogs, and 20 alloxan diabetic dogs. The results indicate that the sensitivity to exogenous insulin is increased in alloxan diabetes glucose counterregulatory mechanisms are impaired. After insulin administration glucagon concentration increased much more and quicker in the control group than in diabetic dogs. Beta-blockade with metoprolol increased glucagon secretion in both groups.  相似文献

Sugar beet seedlings (Beta vulgaris L. cv. Monohill) were cultivated for 3 weeks at different root and shoot temperatures and the plasma membranes (PM) from roots were purified by aqueous two-phase partitioning and analyzed for lipid composition and ATPase activities. Lipid analyses, undertaken immediately after PM purification from the roots, showed that a low root zone temperature (10 degrees C) decreased the ratio between the major lipids phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). A low temperature in the root environment increased the mol% of PE and decreased the mol% of phosphatidic acid (PA), independent on the shoot growth temperature. A low temperature also decreased the mol% of linoleic acid (18:2) and increased mol% of linolenic acid (18:3) in the analyzed lipid classes, especially in PC and PE. The ratio between acyl chain lipids and protein generally increased in PM from roots grown at 10 degrees C, compared with higher temperature. The changes in lipid composition correlated with changes in ATPase activities, detected as hydrolyses of MgATP. The kinetic parameters, K(m) and V of the PM H(+)ATPase in roots increased at a low cultivation temperature, independent on shoot temperature. Moreover, Arrhenius analyses showed that the transition temperature was independent of both root or shoot growth temperature at 10-24 degrees C, whereas the activation energy of the ATPase was dependent on the growth temperature of the root, and independent on shoot temperature. Thus, acclimation processes can take place in roots, irrespective of the shoot temperature.  相似文献

  • 2.2. Both lipid levels and LCAT activity were highest for lizards collected during the early rainy season (March–April) than during other seasons, and were higher for females than for males.
  • 3.3. Plasma lipid levels and LCAT activity were significantly and inversely correlated with body weight (age) of male lizards, this being associated with an apparent change to an herbivorous diet in older males.
  • 4.4. During prolonged fasting, plasma lipid levels and lecithin:cholesterol acyltransfer (LCAT) and hepatic phospholipids were markedly reduced.
  • 5.5. LCAT activity in plasma of fasted and non-fated lizards was significantly correlated with the molar proportion of PC to UC, suggesting that the apparent low LCAT in plasma of fasted lizards is partly due to depletion of PC in the lipoprotein substrates.

Blood was obtained by heart puncture from 19-day-old Black Sex link chicken embryos and from Black Sex link chickens at 1.5, 6, or 24 h post-hatching. Plasma testosterone was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry associated with stable isotope dilution. At 19 days the plasma of male and female chick embryos contains measurable amounts of testosterone and levels do not differ between sexes. After hatching plasma testosterone gradually declines from pre-hatch concentrations in males and females, but in all the post-hatch ages studied, plasma testosterone was significantly higher in male than in female chicks. These results indicate that in male chickens, contrary to mammals at birth, there is no surge in plasma testosterone at hatching.  相似文献

Our aim was to study the adaptation of energetic metabolism to muscular activity and the effects of training upon these adaptations. So we realized swimming and running tests on young healthy adults, selected in "trained" and "untrained". The effects of muscular activity were reflected by a raise of serum F.F.A., clearly noted in "untrained" subjects ; the levels of glucose and growth hormone both raised, but especially in "trained" subjects. Cortisol level raised in varying degrees while insulinemia presented little changes.  相似文献
