Glucagon increased the level of 5-phosphoribosyl 1-pyrophosphate (PPRibP) in isolated rat hepatocytes; a relatively high concentration of cyclic AMP could replace glucagon. In the presence of glucagon, the rate of incorporation of respective radioactive precursors into purine, pyrimidine, and oxidized pyridine nucleotides was accelerated, indicating that glucagon stimulates the synthesis of PPRibP. Addition of 10?6 M colchicine, vinblastin, or podophyllotoxin abolished the glucagon or cyclic AMP-induced increase in the PPRibP level. Colchicine did not affect accumulation of cyclic AMP induced by glucagon. These results suggest the involvement of tubulin or microtubules in the signal transfer from cyclic AMP to stimulated synthesis of PPRibP.  相似文献

Postprandial elevation of 5-phosphoribosyl 1-diphosphate (PPRibP) concentration in the mouse liver (Lalanne, M. and Henderson, J.F. (1975) Can. J. Biochem. 53,394-399) was further studied regarding the effects of protein intake and the underlying mechanisms. The extent and duration of the increase depended on the quantity and quality of proteins ingested. The order of effectiveness of various diets was as follows: 60% casein greater than 20% egg albumin greater than 20% casein greater than 20% gelatin = 20% gluten greater than 20% zein greater than 0% casein. Hepatic purine and pyrimidine biosyntheses de novo, as measured by labelled tracer incorporation, increased with increasing protein intake. Nicotinic acid incorporation into NAD increased equally, whether casein-containing or casein-free diets were given. Therefore, the increase of PPRibP level may be brought about by increase in its synthesis. Administration of glucagon or epinephrine similarly elevated the hepatic level of PPRibP. Somatostatin, known to inhibit secretion of pancreatic hormones, suppressed the casein-diet-dependent PPRibP level increase. Colchicine markedly inhibited the casein-diet- and glucagon-dependent responses, but not the epinephrine effect. It is likely that glucagon is a major factor in mediation of the protein-diet-dependent PPRibP level increase and that the cytoskeleton is involved in the glucagon-mediated response.  相似文献

This work provides further evidence that plants contain appreciable amounts of inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi), and that breakdown of phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate (PPRibP) does not contribute significantly to the PPi detected in plant extracts. Inorganic pyrophosphate in extracts of the roots of Pisum sativum L., clubs of the spadices of Arum maculatum L., and the developing endosperm of Zea mays L. was assayed with pyrophosphate fructose 6-phosphate 1-phosphotransferase (EC 2.7.1.90), and with sulphate adenyltransferase (EC 2.7.7.4). The two different assays gave the same value for PPi content, and for recovery of added PPi. It was shown that PPRibP is converted to PPi during the extraction of PPi. In a continuation of studies on protein intake and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) metabolism, weanling rats were fed semipurified diets containing either 20% casein or 5% casein for two weeks to determine the effect of dietary protein level on hepatic microsomal epoxide hydrase activity and AFB1 metabolism in an effort to evaluate the role of protein intake on the formation and degradation of the reactive metabolite of AFB1. Styrene oxide was used as substrate for epoxide hydrase since the hypothetical AFB1 2,3-epoxide (AFB-epox) cannot be synthesized because of its lability. Two groups of animals were fed 20% casein diets; one was fed ad libitum and the second was pair fed to the 5% casein group in order to control the effects of total feed intake. The depression of epoxide hydrase activities caused by the 5% casein diets was approximately equivalent to that previously seen with hepatic microsomal mixed function oxidase (MFO) activities with the identical protocol. Similarly, the metabolism of AFB1 to AFQ1 and AFM1 was depressed by the 5% casein diets, with an increase in the production of chromatographically more polar material. The relationship of the MFO and epoxide hydrase activities to AFB1 metabolism and formation of macromolecular adducts is discussed.  相似文献

High-fat diets have been associated with neurodegenerative diseases, which are also largely related to the type and amount of dietary proteins. However, to our knowledge, it is little known how dietary proteins affect neurodegenerative changes. In this study, we investigated the effects of dietary proteins in a high-fat diet on hippocampus functions related to enteric glial cells (EGCs) in Wistar rats that were fed either 40% or 20% (calorie) casein, chicken protein or pork protein for 12 weeks (n=10 each group). Inflammatory factors, glutamatergic system, EGCs, astrocytes and nutrient transporters were measured. A high-chicken-protein diet significantly increased the levels of systemic inflammatory factors, Tau protein and amyloid precursor protein mRNA level in the rat hippocampus. The type and level of dietary proteins in high-fat diets did not affect the gene expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein and α-synuclein (P>.05), indicating a negligible effect on astrocyte activity. However, the high-protein diets up-regulated glutamate transporters compared with the low-protein diets (P<.05), while they reduced the γ-aminobutyric acid content in high-chicken and -pork-protein diets (P<.05). Thus, compared with a low-protein diet (20%), a high-chicken or -pork-protein diet (40%) under a high-fat background could alter the balance between glutamatergic system and neurotransmitter and have a stronger effect on the interactions between hippocampal glutamatergic system and EGCs.  相似文献

Whole (WSB) or ground (GSB) full-fat soybeans were extruded at 80, 100, 120 or 140°C and incorporated into broiler diets at 30% inclusion level during a 3-week trial.Extrusion of soybeans at 140 °C improved feed intake compared to those extruded at lower temperatures (P < 0.05). However, there were no significant effects of the extrusion temperature on weight gain, feed:gain ratio or mortality rate (P > 0.05). Also, there were no significant effects of whether the extrusion was undertaken prior to or after grinding of the soybeans on feed intake, weight gain, feed:gain ratio, or mortality rate (P > 0.05). There was no significant interaction between the extrusion temperature and the form extruded on any of the performance parameters (P > 0.05).Although increase in extrusion temperature reduced the trypsin inhibitor activity (TIA) of the soybeans, there were no significant effects of the extrusion temperature or type of soybean extruded on nitrogen, fat, calcium or phosphorus retention or diet ME (P > 0.05).It is concluded that low temperature extrusion of full fat soybeans does not reduce TIA to a satisfactory level (< 10 mg g−1 sample) that will enable high dietary inclusion of such extruded soybeans for broilers.  相似文献

The effects of dietary fat and protein levels on the conversion of Trp-Nam were investigated. In rats fed with 20% casein diets, the Trp-Nam conversion ratio [(urinary excretion of Nam + MNA + 2-Py + 4-Py in μmol/day)/(daily Trp intake during urine collection in μmol/day) × 100] was about 4.3% for the groups fed with the 20% corn oil and 20% soybean oil diets, 2.8% for the group fed with the 20% lard diet, and 2.1 % for the group fed with the no fat diet. In rats fed with 40% casein diets, a similar phenomenon was observed, but the ratios were 2.0%, 2.4%, 1.6%, and 0.8% for the groups fed with the 20% corn oil, 20% soybean oil, 20% lard, and no fat diets, respectively. From these results, it was found that an increase in fat intake elevated the conversion ratio regardless of the dietary protein level, while an increase in protein intake reduced it.  相似文献

Feed form is well recognized to improve broiler performance, specially by increasing feed intake (FI). However, when different diet energy levels are used, the results differ in the literature. Therefore, this experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of feed form and dietary metabolizable energy (ME) levels on broiler performance, carcass yield and on the digestibility of DM, CP, starch and gross energy. In total, 1152 male Cobb 500 broilers were evaluated between 35 and 47 days. The birds were distributed according to a completely randomized design in a 2 × 4 factorial arrangement, consisting of two feed forms (mash or pellet) and four ME levels (12.73, 13.06, 13.40 or 13.73 MJ/kg), totaling eight treatments with eight replicates of 18 birds. Broilers fed the lowest ME level presented the lowest weight gain (WG) and worst feed per unit gain (P < 0.01). Metabolizable energy intake increased (P < 0.01) with progressive increments of ME, which, however, did not affect caloric conversion (CC, P > 0.05). Pelleted diets promoted higher FI, WG, ME intake (P < 0.01) and better feed per unit gain and CC (P < 0.05) compared with mash. In mash diets, increasing dietary ME levels promoted a linear increase in WG (P < 0.01) and reduced feed per unit gain (P ≤ 0.05), but did not affect FI (P > 0.05). In pelleted diets, on the other hand, increasing ME levels linearly reduced FI (P < 0.05) and feed per unit gain (P < 0.01). Broilers fed pelleted diets presented higher abdominal fat deposition than those fed mash (P < 0.05). Increasing ME levels reduced the coefficients of ileal apparent digestibility of DM (P < 0.01) and total starch (P < 0.05) but did not affect the digestibility of other evaluated nutrients. The digestibility of all nutrients was lower when pelleted diets were fed compared with mash. Increasing inert material inclusion in the diets at the expense of soybean oil to reduce dietary ME levels promoted higher pellet durability index values (P < 0.05) and the percentage of fines (P < 0.01). Overall, the results suggest that pelleted diets promote better broiler performance because they increase FI, since the digestibility of dietary fractions is reduced. Chickens consuming low-energy pelleted diets may increase FI to compensate for energy deficit. In contrast, broilers fed mash diets may have reached their maximum intake capacity and did not regulate FI by changing feed energy density. When feeding pelleted diets, dietary energy reduction should be considered to reduce feed costs and to improve the carcass quality of broilers.  相似文献

Oak acorn contains high levels of tannins which have capacity to form complexes with proteins and consequently reduce their availability and as a result it could reduce colostrum quality and immunoglobulin (Ig) synthesis. Thus, the aim of this experiment was to investigate the effects of dietary oak (Quercus persica) acorn (OA) level during the last 60 days of pregnancy on colostrum composition and plasma metabolites and IgG level of goats and their kids. In all, 24 multiparous pregnant goats (41.7±2.3 kg BW) were assigned into one of the three experimental diets consisted of control diet (without OA) and diets containing 20% (OA20) or 40% (OA40) OA on dry matter basis. Goats fed OA40 had lower BW change compared with other groups (P⩽0.05). Kids birth weight was not affected by experimental diets (P>0.05). Goats fed OA containing diets had lower plasma glucose, triglyceride and Fe concentrations compared with those fed the control diet (P<0.01). Plasma IgG (P<0.01) and urea (P<0.05) concentrations were lower in goats fed OA40 compared with others. Animals fed OA containing diets had higher plasma alanine aminotransferase than those fed the control diet (P<0.05). Goats fed OA40 produced colostrum with lower fat (P⩽0.05) and lactose (P<0.01) contents compared with other animals. Goats fed OA containing diets had lower colostrum IgG level than those fed the control diet (P⩽0.05). Kids plasma total protein concentration was not affected by experimental diets (P>0.05), whereas kids born from goats fed OA containing diets had lower plasma IgG level compared with the control diet (P<0.01). It is concluded that feeding OA during the last 60 days of pregnancy decreased colostrum quality which may have adverse effect on kid’s survival.  相似文献

Portions of liver were obtained by biopsy from rats infused with various concentrations of glucagon or epinephrine and analyzed for cyclic AMP, glycogen, phosphorylase activity, and glycogen synthetase I activity. The response of tissue cyclic AMP to glucagon or epinephrine was far less sensitive than other metabolic parameters; at certain lower doses of glucagon or epinephrine, glycogen decomposed without a simultaneous increase in the hepatic level of cyclic AMP. It is probable that hormonal activation of adenylate cyclase results in an increase of cyclic AMP only in its small “active” pool without detectable changes in its much larger inactive or bound pool. Though the active cyclic AMP is expected to be released into the circulation or to be labeled with [3H]adenine in preference to the inactive nucleotide, neither the increase of cyclic AMP in the vena cava in vivo nor the incorporation of [3H]adenine into tissue cyclic AMP in liver slices in vitro exhibited more sensitivity to glucagon than the hepatic level of cyclic AMP as a whole. Thus, it remains to be settled whether cyclic AMP is compartmentalized in the cell or plays no essential role in the stimulation of hepatic glycogenolysis induced by small doses of hormones.  相似文献

In some lower rainfall regions of the world (300–750 mm), common vetch (Vicia sativa L., hereafter referred to as vetch) has been shown to have yields competitive with alternate crops and provide high-quality hay for ruminant diets, but there are few studies of vetch performance as a livestock feed, or of vetch varietal differences in livestock feeding value. This study evaluated vetch varietal differences in hay nutritive value, ruminal fermentation properties, nutrient digestibility, nitrogen retention and animal performance in fattening lambs consuming a diet comprising 20% vetch. Fifty male Hu lambs with an initial BW of 17.7 ± 0.27 kg and 2–3 months of age were assigned randomly into five groups of 10 lambs, and each allocated one of five dietary treatments for 67 days (10 days of adaptation and a 57 day experimental period). All diets contained 30% maize stover, 50% concentrate, and with a different forage source (on an as-fed basis): 20% alfalfa hay (Control), 20% vetch 333A (C333A) hay, 20% vetch Lanjian No. 1 (CLJ1) hay, 20% vetch Lanjian No. 2 (CLJ2) hay, or 20% vetch Lanjian No. 3 (CLJ3) hay. Hay CLJ3 had greater contents of ash, CP, ether extract, in vitro organic matter digestibility and metabolizable energy, and lower cell wall contents (P < 0.05) than those of C333A and CLJ1 hays, but similar to the CLJ2 hay (P > 0.05). Compared to the Control diet, the CLJ2 and CLJ3 diets resulted in greater (P < 0.05) final BW, average daily gain, total tract apparent digestibility of CP and NDF, and nitrogen balance, both when expressed as g/day and relative to nitrogen intake, while animal performance when fed diets with C333A or CLJ1 diet did not differ (P > 0.05) from the Control diet. No differences (P > 0.05) were observed between dietary treatments with respect to average daily feed intake, ruminal pH, total volatile fatty acid contents and molar proportions of acetate, butyrate, valerate, isobutyrate, and isovalerate, or total tract apparent digestibility of DM, organic matter, and ADF. The feed efficiency of tested feeds ranked CLJ3 = CLJ2 > CLJ1 > Control with C333A intermediate between CLJ1 and Control. In summary, considering hay quality, nutrient digestibility and animal weight gain, performance as a ruminant feed of hays from recently released vetch cultivars Lanjian No. 2 and Lanjian No. 3 was superior to the older cultivar C333A and the alfalfa control.  相似文献

The present study was conducted in order to examine the effects of diets with different ruminal degradable protein sources on the performance of lactating goats fed pelleted total mixed rations (PTMR). Forty multiparous Jonica goats in early-lactation were divided into two equal groups and fed for 135 days the experimental diets. Two types of PTMR were formulated to be isonitrogenous and isocaloric while providing different rumen degradable levels of crude protein: (1) high-degradable protein diet (HD) containing soybean meal, sunflower meal and urea (46% N), and (2) low-degradable protein diet (LD) including only corn gluten meal. Apparent digestibility of the two PTMR was tested using Jonica bucks placed in individual pens and results indicated significant differences (P < 0.05) for crude protein, crude fibre, neutral detergent fibre and acid detergent fibre nutrients’ utilization. In milk performance trial, no significant differences (P > 0.05) were registered in dry matter intake and milk yield. Goats fed LD diet containing corn gluten meal showed the highest milk fat, protein and casein concentration, but not significant differences (P > 0.05) were observed on other milk components and renneting properties. It was concluded that a decrease of rumen degradable protein (RDP) level in PTMR does not negatively influence nutrient utilization and milk production and composition of Jonica dairy goat.  相似文献

Four cannulated sheep were used to study ruminal fermentation of a diet consisting of 60% sugar cane tops (Saccharum officinarum), 30% corn stubble (Zea mays), 10% King grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and 0% (control), 10, 20 or 30% controlled-release urea supplement (CRUS) (diets 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively). Average ruminal pH did not differ among diets (P>0.05), but during the first 6 h of sampling tended to be higher for CRUS diets. Ammonia concentrations were higher (P<0.01) in all treatments over controls, indicating microbial protein generation. Acetic acid production (mM/1) decreased (P<0.05), propionic acid increased (P<0.05), while butyric acid production did not differ among CRUS diets and controls (P>0.05). Total amounts of ruminal VFA were lowest (P<0.01) in controls, while CRUS diets produced more of these energy sources. Supplementation of the high fiber diets with 10, 20 or 30% CRUS increasingly improved rumen fermentation, ammonia supply and VFA production. The results show that low quality forages (up to 70% DMI) can be used efficiently by sheep when conditions for ruminal microorganism are improved with a controlled-release urea supplement.  相似文献

It is known that the level of dietary protein modulates the enzymatic activity of the digestive tract of fish; however, its effect at the molecular level on these enzymes and the hormones regulating appetite has not been well characterised. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of CP on the activity of proteases and the expression of genes related to the ingestion and protein digestion of juveniles of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.), as well as the effects on performance, protein retention and body composition of tilapia. A total of 240 juveniles (29.32 ± 5.19 g) were used, distributed across 20 tanks of 100 l in a closed recirculation system. The fish were fed to apparent satiety for 42 days using four isoenergetic diets with different CP levels (24%, 30%, 36% and 42%). The results indicate that fish fed the 30% CP diet exhibited a higher growth performance compared to those on the 42% CP diet (P < 0.05). Feed intake in fish fed 24% and 30% CP diets was significantly higher than that in fish fed 36% and 42% CP diets (P < 0.05). A significant elevation of protein retention was observed in fish fed with 24% and 30% CP diets. Fish fed with 24% CP exhibited a significant increase in lipid deposition in the whole body. The diet with 42% CP was associated with the highest expression of pepsinogen and the lowest activity of acid protease (P < 0.05). The expression of hepatopancreatic trypsinogen increased as CP levels in the diet increased (P < 0.05) up to 36%, whereas trypsin activity showed a significant reduction with 42% CP (P < 0.05). The diet with 42% CP was associated with the lowest intestinal chymotrypsinogen expression and the lowest chymotrypsin activity (P < 0.05). α-amylase expression decreased with increasing (P < 0.05) CP levels up to 36%. No significant differences were observed in the expression of procarboxypeptidase, lipase or leptin among all the groups (P > 0.05). In addition, the diet with 42% CP resulted in a decrease (P < 0.05) in the expression of ghrelin and insulin and an increase (P < 0.05) in the expression of cholecystokinin and peptide yy. It is concluded that variation in dietary protein promoted changes in the metabolism of the red tilapia, which was reflected in proteolytic activity and expression of digestion and appetite-regulating genes.  相似文献

Energy digestibility in the growing pig increases with BW increase and may differ between breeds of pigs or between lines selected on criteria other than digestion. However, little is known about the variability in energy digestibility within a line or a breed of pigs, especially when fibrous diets are fed. For this purpose, 20 Large White castrated male growing pigs originating from four boars (five per boar), and three to four sows per boar, were fed a high dietary fibre (DF) diet (18% NDF) and measured over 10 consecutive weeks (30 to 95 kg BW range) for their apparent faecal energy, nitrogen and organic matter digestibility. Each week, faeces were totally collected over 5 days and the feed dry matter intake over the same days was recorded. All digestibility coefficients increased regularly (P < 0.001) over the experimental periods or with BW increase (+0.6 point/10 kg BW increase for energy); this rate of increase was not affected by boar origin (no interaction; P > 0.05). The digestibility coefficients were affected by boar origin (P < 0.005 for energy), with about 2 points for energy between the extremes (81.7% v. 79.5%), and there was no marked interaction between boar origin and period. These preliminary results suggest the possibility of selecting growing pigs for an increased digestive efficiency when fed high DF diets.  相似文献

Dairy foods and dietary calcium (Ca) are potential regulators of body weight and insulin sensitivity. The specific components of dairy responsible for these actions are not known but may include leucine. Our objective was to determine the effect of dietary protein (casein, skim milk or leucine) and Ca level [low, 0.67% (LC) or high, 2.4% (HC)] on adiposity and insulin sensitivity. Obesity was induced in Sprague–Dawley rats with a 6-week period of high-fat/high-sucrose (HFHS) diet intake. Rats were randomly assigned to one of six HFHS diets for 8 weeks where dietary protein was provided as casein, skim milk or casein enriched with leucine, and contained either LC or HC. Body composition via dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry and insulin sensitivity via euglycemic–hyperinsulinemic clamp were measured. Microarray was used to assess gene expression in liver and skeletal muscle. Rats fed leucine had greater insulin sensitivity than those fed casein or skim milk (P<.05). Dietary protein differentially regulated hepatic and skeletal muscle genes associated with insulin, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor and mammalian target of rapamycin pathways. Specifically, two key genes responsible for insulin sensitivity, hepatic insulin receptor substrate (IRS) and protein kinase B (Akt), were altered in hepatic tissue in response to leucine. Rats fed skim milk and leucine diets had lower body weight compared to those fed casein (P<.05). HC reduced fat mass compared to LC (P<.05). While skim milk and leucine both reduced fat mass, only leucine improved insulin sensitivity compared to casein. Differential expression of genes such as IRS and Akt may be responsible for changes in insulin sensitivity in obese rats.  相似文献

Low-protein and high-protein diets regulate energy metabolism in animals and humans. To evaluate whether different dietary protein sources modulate energy balance when ingested at average levels obesity-prone male C57BL/6J mice were pair-fed high-fat diets (67 energy percent fat, 18 energy percent sucrose and 15 energy percent protein) with either casein, chicken filet or a mixture of cod and scallop (1∶1 on amino acid content) as protein sources. At equal energy intake, casein and cod/scallop fed mice had lower feed efficiency than chicken fed mice, which translated into reduced adipose tissue masses after seven weeks of feeding. Chicken fed mice had elevated hepatic triglyceride relative to casein and cod/scallop fed mice and elevated 4 h fasted plasma cholesterol concentrations compared to low-fat and casein fed mice. In casein fed mice the reduced adiposity was likely related to the observed three percent lower apparent fat digestibility compared to low-fat, chicken and cod/scallop fed mice. After six weeks of feeding an oral glucose tolerance test revealed that despite their lean phenotype, casein fed mice had reduced glucose tolerance compared to low-fat, chicken and cod/scallop fed mice. In a separate set of mice, effects on metabolism were evaluated by indirect calorimetry before onset of diet-induced obesity. Spontaneous locomotor activity decreased in casein and chicken fed mice when shifting from low-fat to high-fat diets, but cod/scallop feeding tended (P = 0.06) to attenuate this decrease. Moreover, at this shift, energy expenditure decreased in all groups, but was decreased to a greater extent in casein fed than in cod/scallop fed mice, indicating that protein sources regulated energy expenditure differently. In conclusion, protein from different sources modulates energy balance in C57BL/6J mice when given at normal levels. Ingestion of a cod/scallop-mixture prevented diet-induced obesity compared to intake of chicken filet and preserved glucose tolerance compared to casein intake.  相似文献

This study aimed to evaluate the protein requirement of Clarias batrachus fry, were estimated at two different water temperatures, 28 and 32 °C. The influence of dietary protein level and water temperature on body composition, weight gain, food and nutrient utilization were estimated. The Asian catfish, C. batrachus fry were fed four diets containing 28% (diet 1), 32% (diet 2), 36% (diet 3) and 40% (diet 4) protein levels and reared at two water temperatures 28 and 32 °C for 60 days. Fry fed with diet 3 containing 36% protein showed the highest mean final body weight at 32 °C. Final body weight was significantly (P<0.05) affected by dietary treatments and temperatures. Clarias batrachus fry raised at 28 °C had higher feed efficiency (93.20%) than the fry reared at 32 °C (87.58%) with 28% dietary protein level. Further, feed efficiency decreased with increase in dietary protein level. Higher daily protein retention (0.089%) observed at lower (0.0217 g) daily protein intake at 28 °C than 0.0283 g at 32 °C. While, optimal (0.0282 g) daily protein intake showed higher daily weight gain at 32 °C. Productive protein value (% PPV) was maximum (1.76%) at 32 °C than at 28 °C (0.76%). Final body lipid recorded higher value than initial body lipid at both the temperatures. Hepatosomatic index (HSI) observed to have been influenced (P<0.05) by diets and temperatures, while viscerosomatic index (VSI) affected (P<0.05) by only diets and not (P>0.05) by temperatures. The aim of this work was to study the effects of incorporating sugar beet pulp (SBP) into the diet on the development of the crop and performance of geese. A total of 480 1-day-old ganders were divided into three groups differing in the composition and mode of distribution of the diet offered from day 56 to 89. The following two diets were used: a standard diet (nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolizable energy, AMEn 11.44 MJ/kg; 160 g/kg CP) or a diet containing 10% of SBP (SBP diet; AMEn 11.47 MJ/kg; 160 g/kg CP). The swelling capacity (SC) hydration was higher for SBP than for the standard diet (3.62 v. 2.72 ml of H2O/g of dry matter at 60 min; P<0.05). In the Control group, birds were fed with a controlled time of access to a standard diet. Other birds were fed the SBP diet with a controlled time of access (SBPt group) or a controlled quantity offered (SBPq). From day 90 to 104, 88 birds/group were overfed with a mixture containing mainly corn. Body traits including volume of the crop were measured at day 89. Fatty liver weight and commercial grading were measured at d 104. Feed intake from day 56 to 89 was higher in the Control group than in the SBPt group (8097 v. 7545 g; P<0.05), feed intake in the SBPq group being intermediate (7801 g); however, live weights (LW) of the birds were similar in the three groups measured at day 89 (5746 g; P>0.05). At day 89, the volume of the crop tended to be higher in the SBPt compared with the Control group (52.8 v. 48.8 ml/kg of LW; P=0.101). After overfeeding, feed intake (12 922 g), weight gain (2412 g), LW (8170 g), fatty liver weight (875 g) and commercial grading of the fatty liver were similar (P>0.1) for all the three groups. Therefore, SBP could help adapt the digestive tract of waterfowl to high feed intake through an increase in the crop volume, but its method of use – that is, level of incorporation and mode of distribution – should continue to be investigated.  相似文献

Zinc (Zn) is essential for swine and poultry and native Zn concentrations in feedstuffs are too low to meet their Zn requirement. Dietary Zn bioavailability is affected by phytate, phytase and Zn supplemented in organic form is considered as more bioavailable than inorganic sources. A meta-analysis using GLM procedures was processed using broiler and piglet databases to investigate, within the physiological response of Zn, (1) the bioavailability of inorganic and organic Zn sources (Analysis I); (2) the bioavailability of native and inorganic Zn dependent from dietary phytates, vegetal and supplemental phytase activity (Analysis II). Analysis I: the bioavailability of organic Zn relative to inorganic Zn sources ranged, depending on the variable, from 85 to 117 never different from 100 (P > 0.05). The coefficients of determination of the regressions were 0.91 in broilers and above 0.89 in piglets. Analysis II: in broilers, bone Zn was explained by supplemental Zn (linear and quadratic, P < 0.001) and by supplemental phytase (linear, P < 0.001). In piglets, the interaction between dietary Zn and phytates/phytases was investigated by means of a new variable combining dietary phytic phosphorus (PP) and phytase activity. This new variable represents the remaining dietary PP after its hydrolysis in the digestive tract, mainly due to phytase and is called non-hydrolyzed phytic phosphorus (PPNH). Bone Zn was increased with native Zn (P < 0.001), but to a lower extent in high PP or low phytase diets (ZNN × PPNH, P < 0.001). In contrast, the increase in bone zinc in response to supplemental Zn (P < 0.001) was not modulated by PPNH (P > 0.05). The coefficients of determination of the regressions were 0.92 in broilers and above 0.92 in piglets. The results from the two meta-analyses suggest that (1) broilers and piglets use supplemented Zn, independent from Zn source; (2) broiler use native Zn and the use is slightly enhanced with supplemental phytase; (3) however, piglets are limited in the use of native Zn because of the antagonism of non-hydrolyzed dietary phytate. This explains the higher efficacy of phytase in improving Zn availability in this specie.  相似文献
