The typology developed by Troll was followed to describe inflorescence structures for 15 species of Spartina. In all species here studied, truncation of the terminal spikelet of the main axis and primary paracladium was observed. The truncation can also involve the short paracladia subzone so that the inflorescence is confined to just the long paracladia subzone. A great homogenization of paracladia and maximum ramification degree limited generally to the second order of branching are distinctive characteristics of the genus. Proximal paracladia with third-order branching were found in only three specimens, and in these exceptional cases, the homogenization is partial. Sometimes, in some species, a subzone of long and short paracladia can be distinguished. The absence of trophotagma paracladia in all the species studied was verified. The variation in the structure of the inflorescence among species is due to the differences in the number of short paracladia, long paracladia, total number of primary paracladia and also in the angle of divergence of the long paracladia from the main axis. The latter, in addition to variations in the intercalary growth of the internodes produces modifications in the general appearance of the inflorescences. The systematic and taxonomic value of the inflorescences in Spartina is discussed.  相似文献

WANNAN, B. S. & QUINN, C. J., 1992. Inflorescence structure and affinities of Laurophyllus (Anacardiaceae). The inflorescence structure, pollen and floral anatomy are investigated in Laurophyllus . The inflorescence is a panicle sensu Briggs & Johnson, but with marked differences between the male and female. Sistergroup comparison with the Burseraceae indicates that the plesiomorphic inflorescence in the Anacardiaceae is a thyrsoid, the apomorph being the panicle. Laurophyllus has Rhus -type pollen and therefore has no close affinity with Dobinea or Campylopeialum . Floral anatomy reveals that Laurophyllus is unicarpellary with a dorsally attached style and an apically attached ovule. These characters suggest that rather than being related to Anacardium or Mangifera , it has some affinity with Blepharocarya or perhaps with one of the poorly known African or Madagascan genera.  相似文献

We investigated the inflorescence structure of Rhynchospora following the methodology and terminology of Troll's school, with the objective of providing a characterization of the inflorescence suitable to evaluate the processes responsible for the diversity observed. Homogenization of inflorescence structures may occur fully or partially. In the first case, all branches of the inflorescence are homogeneous, while in the later, distal and proximal parts of the inflorescence bear homogeneous branches, but in the middle portions of the inflorescence non-homogeneous branches exist. Other characters leading to different forms of inflorescences are branching degree, internode elongation along the main axis of the synflorescence, degree of epipodium elongation of distal paraclades, development of bract and prophyll, and development of prophyllar paraclades. We identified three main types of inflorescences: (1) partially homogeneous paniculodia, (2) partially homogeneous capitate heads, and (3) a fully homogeneous capitate head. Within the first type, four subtypes were also recognized. Finally, we discuss how these processes can operate to produce the variation of the inflorescence shape.  相似文献

A revision of the generic limits between Triplaris and Ruprechtia (Polygonaceae), which were confused in earlier literature, led to the conclusion that the two genera should be maintained. Triplaris is characterized by 1–flowered pistillate partial inflorescences, absence of a basal pedicel–like extension of the fruiting perianth–tube, which is always as long as or longer than the achene, bracteoles completely fissured on the abaxial side, and sessile or subsessile male flowers with perianth segments always connate for more than half of their length.
Ruprechtia has 2–3–flowered monochasial pistillate part–inflorescences (except the 1–flowered R. triflora) , a basal pedicel–like extension of the fruiting perianth–tube, which is at most 3/4 as long as the achene, more or less tubular bracteoles only exceptionally fissured down on the abaxial side, and pedicellate male flowers with perianth segments never connate for more than one third of their lenght. Preliminary paly–nological studies have shown that the pollen of Triplaris are microreticulate or punc–tate–microreticulate while Ruprechtia pollen have perforate–rugulose surfaces.  相似文献

Surface features of hirsute achenes of four African species of Scleria have been examined by SEM. All bear unicellular, terete hairs with swollen bases. As the achenes mature and dry, the hairs collapse, except for their partly silicified bases, which appear as pit-like depressions from which the now-flattened hairs emerge. If the achene surface is not smooth the hairs are localized on the interlacunar ridges. In addition to the hairs, three of the four species examined show minute papillate protuberances from the silicified outer tangential walls of the epidermal cells. These papillae form a further ornamentation to the achenes visible only at high magnification. The fourth species entirely lacks these papillae.  相似文献

Brickellia nesomii, a new species from northeastern Mexico, is described. It belongs to the subgenus Phanerostylis, which Gray originally placed in Eupatorium; King and Robinson elevated the taxon to generic rank; it is herein kept at the subgeneric level but transferred to Brickellia. Reasons for this transfer are given. Barroetea glutinosa, positioned by King and Robinson in Phanerostylis, is excluded.  相似文献

Inflorescence and floral development of two tropical legume trees, Dahlstedtia pinnata and Dahlstedtia pentaphylla, occurring in the Atlantic Forest of south-eastern and southern Brazil, were investigated and compared with other papilionoids. Few studies have been made of floral development in tribe Millettieae, and this paper is intended to fill that gap in our knowledge. Dahlstedtia species have an unusual inflorescence type among legumes, the pseudoraceme, which comprises axillary units of three or more flowers, each with a subtending bract. Each flower exhibits a pair of opposite bracteoles. The order of flower initiation is acropetal; inception of the floral organs is as follows: sepals (5), petals (5), carpel (1) plus outer stamens (5) and finally inner stamens (5). Organ initiation in sepal, petal and inner stamen whorls is unidirectional; the carpel cleft is adaxial. The vexillum originates from a tubular-shaped primordium in mid-development and is larger than other petals at maturity, covering the keels. The filament tube develops later after initiation of inner-stamen primordia. Floral development in Dahlstedtia is almost always similar to other papilionoids, especially species of Phaseoleae and Sophoreae. But one important difference is the precocious ovule initiation (open carpel with ovules) in Dahlstedtia, the third citation of this phenomenon for papilionoids. No suppression, organ loss or anomalies occur in the order of primordia initiation or structure. Infra-generic differences in the first stages of ontogeny are rare; however, different species of Dahlstedtia are distinguished by the differing distribution pattern of secretory cavities in the flower.  相似文献

Reciprocal differences in the rates of chlorophyll (Chl) formation during early stages of greening are observed in hybrid seedlings with identical genomes derived from reciprocal crosses between Oenothera berteriana (=villaricae) and Oe. odorata (=picensis), subgenus Munzia. In the presence of levulinic acid (LA), a competitive inhibitor of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) dehydratase, ALA accumulated in the cotyledons and chlorophyll production was reduced in a stoichometric ratio. Accumulation of both Chl in untreated tissue and of ALA in seedlings incubated with LA is much more rapid in cotyledons with berteriana plastids than in those with odorata plastids. No difference was found between the inhibitor constants for LA of ALA dehydratase extracted from seedlings with either berteriana or odorata plastids. ALA formation is not limited by the availability of possible precursors. ALA dehydratase and the porphobilinogenase complex (PBGase) are present in abundance and in equal amounts in cotyledons with either berteriana or odorata plastids. It is concluded that the different capacities of the ALA synthesizing system fully account for the different rates of Chl formation in the seedlings with identical genomes and different plastid types.Abbreviations Chl chlorophyll - ALA 5-aminolevnlinic acid - ALAD 5-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase - LA levulinic acid - PBG porphobilinogen - PBGase porphobilinogenase - Oe Oenothera - bert berteriana - od odorata - Pl plastids  相似文献

A new species is described from the Andes of Peru. Passiflora weigendii sp. nov. is a close relative of P. mixta, P. tripartita var. mollissima and P. cumbalensis var. mesadenia but differs in having pendent flowers and a different form of the stipules which have an arista about 1cm long. The new species is somewhat intermediate between the sections Elkea and Tacsonia and thus questions the current classification.  相似文献
