The effects of nutrients on the biological structure of brackish and freshwater lakes were compared. Quantitative analysis of late summer fish, zooplankton, mysid and macrophyte populations was undertaken in 20–36 shallow brackish lakes of various trophic states and the findings compared with a similar analysis of shallow freshwater lakes based on either sampling (fish) or existing data (zooplankton, mysids and macrophytes). Special emphasis was placed on differences in pelagic top-down control. Whereas the fish biomass (CPUE, multiple mesh-size gill nets) rose with increasing P-concentration in freshwater lakes, that of brackish lakes was markedly reduced at P-concentrations above ca. 0.4 mg P l-1 and there was a concomitant shift to exclusive dominance by the small sticklebacks (Gasterosteus aculeatus and Pungitius pungitius); as a result, fish density remained relatively high. Mysids (Neomysis integer) were found at a salinity greater than 0.5 and increased substantially with increasing P-concentration, reaching levels as high as 13 ind. l-1. This is in contrast to the carnivorous zooplankton of freshwater lakes, which are most abundant at intermediate P levels. The efficient algal controller, Daphnia was only found at a salinity below 2 and N. integer in lakes with a salinity above 0.5. Above 2 the filter-feeding zooplankton were usually dominated by the less efficient algal controllers Eurytemora and Acartia. In contrast to freshwater lakes, no shift to a clearwater state was found in eutrophic brackish lakes when submerged macrophytes became abundant. We conclude that predation pressure on zooplankton is higher and algal grazing capacity lower in brackish eutrophic-hypertrophic lakes than in comparable freshwater lakes, and that the differences in trophic structure of brackish and freshwater lakes have major implications for the measures available to reduce the recovery period following a reduction in nutrient loading. The relatively shallow archipelago waters off the Långnäs harbour area, eastern Åland (SW Finland) were studied before and after an expansion of the ferry traffic on July 1, 1999. The large ships (150–200 m long) caused increased vertical mixing, turbidity and stirring of the sediments, especially in the turning area outside the harbour. The vertical distribution of silicate as well as disturbed temperature conditions indicated artificial upwelling. Ship traffic also contributes to the eutrophication of the archipelago waters via increased recycling of nutrients due to elevated bottom temperature and increased mixing depth in the fairway. As the bloom-forming cyanobacterium Nodularia spumigena could be favoured in the fairway or adjacent areas, the occurrence of its toxin nodularin-R was monitored. However, only low toxin concentrations were recorded in the whole study area in 1999.  相似文献

Marine macrophytes and -algae have undergone major changes in abundance and species composition over the last decades, primarily due to eutrophication. However, comparable studies conducted in the mid 20th century are rare, but potentially valuable for enabling insight into changes in the benthic communities from the early onset of the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea. In the present study, the submerged phytobenthic community in the exposed southern archipelago of the Åland Islands was examined in 2018 and compared with surveys conducted in 1956 and 1993, respectively. The aim was to analyze long-term changes in the phytobenthic community in relation to the general large-scale anthropogenic drivers since the 1950s. Between 1956 and 1993, a decrease in the total number of species/taxa, an increase of filamentous algae coverage and a decrease in the depth range of Fucus vesiculosus was observed. These changes in the phytobenthic community continued between 1993 and 2018, suggesting no changes in the previously described negative trends. Between 1956 and 2018, a general shift in the distribution of phytobenthic functional groups, (grouped according to morphology and type of algae; green, brown and red) occurred, with increased coverage of filamentous brown and green algae, and decline in red algae coverage. The depth range of F. vesiculosus also decreased by >50% between 1956 and 2018. The results support findings that the eutrophication of the northern Baltic Sea is still at a high level, which slows down or prevents the recovery of offshore phytobenthic communities, despite the progress seen in other areas. Thus, the likely main drivers behind the changes are the direct and indirect effects of eutrophication in combination with warmer water, i.e. an effect of climate change.  相似文献

The incidence of Lyme borreliosis (LB) in a region may reflect the prevalence of Borrelia in the tick population. Our aim was to investigate if regions with different LB incidences can be distinguished by studying the prevalence and diversity of Borrelia species in their respective tick populations. The Borrelia load in a feeding tick increases with the duration of feeding, which may facilitate a transmission of Borrelia Spirochetes from tick to host. Therefore, we also wanted to investigate how the Borrelia load in ticks that have fed on humans varies with the duration of tick feeding. During 2008 and 2009, ticks that had bitten humans were collected from four regions of Sweden and Finland, regions with expected differences in LB incidence. The duration of tick feeding was estimated and Borrelia were detected and quantified by a quantitative PCR assay followed by species determination. Out of the 2,154 Ixodes ricinus ticks analyzed, 26% were infected with Borrelia and seven species were identified. B. spielmanii was detected for the first time in the regions. The tick populations collected from the four regions exhibited only minor differences in both prevalence and diversity of Borrelia species, indicating that these variables alone cannot explain the regions’ different LB incidences. The number of Borrelia cells in the infected ticks ranged from fewer than ten to more than a million. We also found a lower number of Borrelia cells in adult female ticks that had fed for more than 36 hours, compared to the number of Borrelia cells found in adult female ticks that had fed for less than 36 hours.  相似文献

High concentrations of chloride ions inhibit the growth of acidophilic microorganisms used in biomining, a problem particularly relevant to Western Australian and Chilean biomining operations. Despite this, little is known about the mechanisms acidophiles adopt in order to tolerate high chloride ion concentrations. This study aimed to investigate the impact of increasing concentrations of chloride ions on the population dynamics of a mixed culture during pyrite bioleaching and apply proteomics to elucidate how two species from this mixed culture alter their proteomes under chloride stress. A mixture consisting of well-known biomining microorganisms and an enrichment culture obtained from an acidic saline drain were tested for their ability to bioleach pyrite in the presence of 0, 3.5, 7, and 20 g L−1 NaCl. Microorganisms from the enrichment culture were found to out-compete the known biomining microorganisms, independent of the chloride ion concentration. The proteomes of the Gram-positive acidophile Acidimicrobium ferrooxidans and the Gram-negative acidophile Acidithiobacillus caldus grown in the presence or absence of chloride ions were investigated. Analysis of differential expression showed that acidophilic microorganisms adopted several changes in their proteomes in the presence of chloride ions, suggesting the following strategies to combat the NaCl stress: adaptation of the cell membrane, the accumulation of amino acids possibly as a form of osmoprotectant, and the expression of a YceI family protein involved in acid and osmotic-related stress.  相似文献

In the past years, late summer blooms of the bioluminescent dinoflagellate Alexandrium ostenfeldii have become a recurrent phenomenon in coastal waters of the central and Northern Baltic Sea. This paper reports exceptionally high cell concentrations (105 to 106 cells L?1) of the species found during bioluminescent blooms in 2003 and 2004 in a shallow embayment of the Åland archipelago at the SW coast of Finland. Clonal cultures were established for morphological, molecular, toxicological and ecophysiological investigations to characterize the Finnish populations and compare them to other global A. ostenfeldii isolates. The Finnish isolates exhibited typical morphological features of A. ostenfeldii such as large size, a prominent ventral pore and an orthogonally bent first apical plate. However, unambiguous differentiation from closely related Alexandrium peruvianum was difficult due to considerable variation of sulcal anterior plate shapes. The Finnish strains were genetically distinct from other isolates of the species, but phylogenetic analyses revealed a close relationship to isolates from southern England and an A. peruvianum morphotype from the Spanish Mediterranean. Together these isolates formed a distinct clade which was separated from a clade containing other Northern European, North American and New Zealand populations. Toxin analyses confirmed the presence of the PSP toxins GTX2, GTX3 and STX in both Finnish isolates with GTX3 being the dominant toxin. Total relative PSP toxin contents were moderate, ranging from approximately 6 to 15 fmol cell?1 at local salinities of 5 and 10 psu, respectively. Spirolides were not detected. Salinity tolerance experiments showed that the Finnish isolates were well adapted to grow at the low salinities of the Baltic Sea. With a salinity range of approximately 6 to 20–25 psu, Baltic populations are physiologically distinct from their marine relatives. Vigorous production of different cyst types in the cultures suggest that cysts may play a crucial role in the survival and retainment of A. ostenfeldii populations in the Baltic Sea.  相似文献

Cyanobacteria are the predominant phototrophs in freshwater ecosystems of the polar regions where they commonly form extensive benthic mats. Despite their major biological role in these ecosystems, little attention has been paid to their physiology and biochemistry. An important feature of cyanobacteria from the temperate and tropical regions is the production of a large variety of toxic secondary metabolites. In Antarctica, and more recently in the Arctic, the cyanobacterial toxins microcystin and nodularin (Antarctic only) have been detected in freshwater microbial mats. To date other cyanobacterial toxins have not been reported from these locations. Five Arctic cyanobacterial communities were screened for saxitoxin, another common cyanobacterial toxin, and microcystins using immunological, spectroscopic and molecular methods. Saxitoxin was detected for the first time in cyanobacteria from the Arctic. In addition, an unusual microcystin variant was identified using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry. Gene expression analyses confirmed the analytical findings, whereby parts of the sxt and mcy operon involved in saxitoxin and microcystin synthesis, were detected and sequenced in one and five of the Arctic cyanobacterial samples, respectively. The detection of these compounds in the cryosphere improves the understanding of the biogeography and distribution of toxic cyanobacteria globally. The sequences of sxt and mcy genes provided from this habitat for the first time may help to clarify the evolutionary origin of toxin production in cyanobacteria.  相似文献

A palaeolimnological study of Lake Iso-Hietajärvi in Patvinsuo National Park, Lieksa, East Finland was conducted. The drainage area of the lake is one of four Integrated Monitoring areas established in Finland. Lead-210 dating reveals a period of increased sedimentation in the lake from 1920 to 1950. Increased atmospheric burden of several heavy metals in the order Pb > Cu> Zn > Ti = Al > Cr = Ni = V is recorded. The first to expand during the 19th century is Pb, whilst V increases after 1950. Sedimentary chlorophyll derivatives expand in the early part of the 20th century. Assemblages of diatoms and Cladocera were also changed somewhat during this time, but water quality seems not to have varied much: e.g. the diatom-inferred pH has remained in the range 6.4–6.8 (with a slight decrease) throughout the period of study.  相似文献

Summary Female freshwater eels injected with estradiol-17 (E2) for 15–78 days appear paler and secrete more mucus than controls. The resulting strongly opalescent blood plasma indicates that vitellogenin synthesis occurs in the liver, which shows a significant hypertrophy, an increased vacuolization (lipid material) and glycogen depletion. Plasma sodium is lowered, but calcium levels are considerably increased. The gonosomatic index increases (0.92±0.1 to a maximum of 2.21). Oocytes are enlarged, but the incorporation of vitellogenin remains discrete. Gonadotrophs (GTH cells), small and scarcely visible in the pituitary of control eels, are hypertrophied and contain numerous glycoprotein granules after E2-administration. E2 may act on the pituitary and/or hypothalamus via a positive feedback to induce gonadotrophin (GTH) synthesis; GTH release seems to be very limited as indicated by the ovarian response. The differentiation of GTH cells in eels treated with fish pituitary extracts is most probably due to secretion of E2 by the ovary, which reacts on the pituitary. Various hypotheses are considered to explain the low GTH release.Thyrotrophs, somatotrophs and prolactin cells of the pituitary are stimulated. In the pars intermedia, MSH and PAS-positive cells appear less active. A possible antidopaminergic effect of E2 is discussed.E2 administration constitutes a simple and economic technique to induce the synthesis of GTH and will facilitate the biochemical and biological study of the latter hormone in eels.  相似文献

The Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) has been performing standardized fish stock assessments in Flanders, Belgium. This Flemish Fish Monitoring Network aims to assess fish populations in public waters at regular time intervals in both inland waters and estuaries. This monitoring was set up in support of the Water Framework Directive, the Habitat Directive, the Eel Regulation, the Red List of fishes, fish stock management, biodiversity research, and to assess the colonization and spreading of non-native fish species. The collected data are consolidated in the Fish Information System or VIS. From VIS, the occurrence data are now published at the INBO IPT as two datasets: ‘VIS - Fishes in inland waters in Flanders, Belgium’ and ‘VIS - Fishes in estuarine waters in Flanders, Belgium’. Together these datasets represent a complete overview of the distribution and abundance of fish species pertaining in Flanders from late 1992 to the end of 2012. This data paper discusses both datasets together, as both have a similar methodology and structure. The inland waters dataset contains over 350,000 fish observations, sampled between 1992 and 2012 from over 2,000 locations in inland rivers, streams, canals, and enclosed waters in Flanders. The dataset includes 64 fish species, as well as a number of non-target species (mainly crustaceans). The estuarine waters dataset contains over 44,000 fish observations, sampled between 1995 and 2012 from almost 50 locations in the estuaries of the rivers Yser and Scheldt (“Zeeschelde”), including two sampling sites in the Netherlands. The dataset includes 69 fish species and a number of non-target crustacean species. To foster broad and collaborative use, the data are dedicated to the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero waiver and reference the INBO norms for data use.  相似文献

Summary Enzymatic DNA amplification and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, which demonstrate different sizes of DNA fragments, were used to detect the common mutations causing -thalassemia and hemoglobin (Hb) E in Thai people. The 4-bp deletion at codons 41 and 42 can be detected directly by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and ethidium bromide staining. Whereas the nonsense mutations at codon 17 (AAG TAG) and Hb E (GAGAAG at codon 26) were detected after digestion of the amplified DNA with the enzymes MaeI and MnlI, respectively.  相似文献

We have studied the distribution and community composition of denitrifying bacteria in the stratified water column and at the sediment–water interface in lakes Plußsee and Schöhsee, and a near-shore site in the Baltic Sea in Germany. Although environmental changes induced by the stratification of the water column in marine environments are known to affect specific populations of denitrifying bacteria, little information is available for stratified freshwater lakes and brackish water. The aim of the present study was to fill this gap and to demonstrate specific distribution patterns of denitrifying bacteria in specific aquatic habitats using two functional markers for the nitrite reductase (nirK and nirS genes) as a proxy for the communities. The leading question to be answered was whether communities containing the genes nirK and nirS have similar, identical, or different distribution patterns, and occupy the same or different ecological niches. The genes nirK and nirS were analyzed by PCR amplification with specific primers followed by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) and by cloning and sequence analysis. Overall, nirS-denitrifiers were more diverse than nirK-denitrifiers. Denitrifying communities in sediments were clearly different from those in the water column in all aquatic systems, regardless of the gene analyzed. A differential distribution of denitrifying assemblages was observed for each particular site. In the Baltic Sea and Lake Plußsee, nirK-denitrifiers were more diverse throughout the water column, while nirS-denitrifiers were more diverse in the sediment. In Lake Schöhsee, nirS-denitrifiers showed high diversity across the whole water body. Habitat-specific clusters of nirS sequences were observed for the freshwater lakes, while nirK sequences from both freshwater lakes and the Baltic Sea were found in common phylogenetic clusters. These results demonstrated differences in the distribution of bacteria containing nirS and those containing nirK indicating that both types of denitrifiers apparently occupy different ecological niches.  相似文献

Protistan community grazing rates upon both bacterioplankton and autotrophic picoplankton were estimated using fluorescently-labeled prey and by measurement of extracellular hydrolysis of 4-methylumbelliferyl (MUF) -N-acetylglucosaminide in a eutrophic reservoir and an oligo-mesotrophic lake during phytoplankton blooms. In addition, enzyme methods were optimized in bacterivorous flagellate cultures by two enzyme assays, based on fluorometric detection of protistan digestive activity, which were compared and calibrated independently against flagellate bacterivory. Enzymatic hydrolyses of MUF -N,N,N-triacetylchitotriose and MUF -N-acetylglucosaminide were measured in cell-free (sonicated) and whole-cell (unsonicated) samples. The hydrolysis of both substrates, using the whole-cell enzyme assay at in situ pH, was correlated significantly with total grazing rate of Bodo saltans. Thus the whole-cell enzyme assay with MUF -N-acetylglucosaminide was used for freshwater samples. High-affinity (K m < 1 mol 1–1) and low-affinity (K m > 100 mol 1–1) enzymes were distinguished kinetically in most samples from both systems studied. Activities (V max ) of the high-affinity enzyme varied from 0.24 to 1.43 nmol 1–1 h–1. Protistan community grazing on bacterioplankton was in the range of 0.15–1.36 g C 1–1 h–1. both for lake and reservoir, the differences being observed in grazing on picocyanobacteria (lake, 0.03-0.22 g C 1–1 h–1. reservoir, 0.35–1.56 g C 1–1) h–1. The enzyme activities were correlated significantly with the protistan grazing both on bacterioplakton (r s = 0.62, P < 0.001) and total procaryotic picoplankton (the sum of organic carbon grazed from bacteria and picocyanobacteria, r s = 0.73, P < 0.001) in the eutrophic reservoir. Weaker relationships (r s = 0.42) with a lower slope were found for the oligo-mesotrophic lake. Ingestion rate studies are time-consuming and the digestive enzyme assay with MUF -N-acetylglucosaminide presents a rapid alternative for estimating total protistan prokaryotic picoplanktivory in freshwaters.  相似文献

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an emerging therapy for the treatment of psychiatric disorders. However, the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of rTMS are still unclear, limiting its optimisation. Lasting effects suggest changes in disease-related genes, so we conducted gene chip and qRT-PCR analyses of genes associated with psychiatric diseases in the mouse brain at various times following 1, 20, 30 or 40 days of rTMS. Many genes were differentially expressed in the rTMS-treated mouse brain compared to sham controls, including genes encoding neurotransmitter transporters (upregulation of EAAT4, GLAST, GLT-1, GAT2, GAT4, GLYT1 and GLYT2), and endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-stress proteins (downregulation of IRE1α, IRE1β, and XBP1, upregulation of ATF6 and GRP78/Bip). Expression changes in many of these genes were also observed 10 days after the last rTMS treatment. In PC12 cells, rTMS upregulated GRP78/Bip mRNA and enhanced resistance against H2O2 stress. These results suggest that rTMS differentially modulates multiple genes associated with psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Sustained changes in the expression of these genes may underlie the therapeutic efficacy of chronic rTMS.  相似文献

Atherosclerotic plaque formation and progression are dependent on local shear stress patterns and inflammatory cytokines. Statins effectively reduce the progression of atherosclerosis and the incidence of cardiovascular events. However, the benefit of statins cannot be explained by cholesterol reduction alone. This study, investigated the non-lipid lowering effects of simvastatin and rosuvastatin on endothelial anti- and prothrombotic genes under different biomechanical and inflammatory stress conditions. Endothelial cells responded in a similar way to simvastatin and rosuvastatin. However, they were more sensitive to simvastatin. The statins had anti-inflammatory properties counteracting the TNF-α effect on the hemostatic genes studied. There was no observed synergistic effect between shear stress and simvastatin. Simvastatin had a counteracting effect on t-PA and PAI-1 compared to TNF-α and shear stress. Simvastatin blocked the TNF-α suppressive effect on thrombomodulin and eNOS, irrespective of shear stress. The strong inductive effect of TNF-α on VCAM-1 was counteracted by simvastatin and shear stress in an additive dose-response dependent way.  相似文献

Occurrence and toxic profiles of paralytic shellfish toxins (PST) in the chocolata clam Megapitaria squalida were investigated. From December 2001 to December 2002, 25 clams were obtained monthly from Bahia de La Paz, Gulf of California. Additionally, net (20 microm) and bottle phytoplankton samples were also collected to identify toxic species. Toxins were analyzed by HPLC with post-column oxidation and fluorescence detection. Toxicity in the clam was low and varied from 0.14 to 5.46 microg/STXeq/100 g. Toxicity was detected in December, March, April, June, and August. Toxin profile was composed mainly by STX, GTX2, GTX3, dcGTX2, dcGTX3, C2, dcSTX and B1. Gymnodinium catenatum was the only PST-producing dinoflagellate identified in the phytoplankton samples throughout the study period. G. catenatum was observed mainly in net samples from December 2001 to December 2002; however, in bottle samples, G. catenatum was only observed in five months. Highest abundance (2600 cells l(-1)) was observed in March and the lowest (160 cells l(-1)) in June. G. catenatum mainly formed two-cell chains and rarely four or eight. The presence of PST in net phytoplankton samples support the fact that G. catenatum is the main source of PST in the clams. This study represents the first report of PST toxins in the chocolata clam from Bahia de La Paz.  相似文献

Over the past few decades, there has been an increased frequency and duration of cyanobacterial Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in freshwater systems globally. These can produce secondary metabolites called cyanotoxins, many of which are hepatotoxins, raising concerns about repeated exposure through ingestion of contaminated drinking water or food or through recreational activities such as bathing/swimming. An ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS/MS) multi-toxin method has been developed and validated for freshwater cyanotoxins; microcystins-LR, -YR, -RR, -LA, -LY and -LF, nodularin, cylindrospermopsin, anatoxin-a and the marine diatom toxin domoic acid. Separation was achieved in around 9 min and dual SPE was incorporated providing detection limits of between 0.3 and 5.6 ng/L of original sample. Intra- and inter-day precision analysis showed relative standard deviations (RSD) of 1.2–9.6% and 1.3–12.0% respectively. The method was applied to the analysis of aquatic samples (n = 206) from six European countries. The main class detected were the hepatotoxins; microcystin-YR (n = 22), cylindrospermopsin (n = 25), microcystin-RR (n = 17), microcystin-LR (n = 12), microcystin-LY (n = 1), microcystin-LF (n = 1) and nodularin (n = 5). For microcystins, the levels detected ranged from 0.001 to 1.51 μg/L, with two samples showing combined levels above the guideline set by the WHO of 1 μg/L for microcystin-LR. Several samples presented with multiple toxins indicating the potential for synergistic effects and possibly enhanced toxicity. This is the first published pan European survey of freshwater bodies for multiple biotoxins, including two identified for the first time; cylindrospermopsin in Ireland and nodularin in Germany, presenting further incentives for improved monitoring and development of strategies to mitigate human exposure.  相似文献

Total phosphorus and total nitrogen explained a low percentage of summer chlorophyll variability in epilimnia of the Great Masurian Lakes. Division of the whole data set into two subgroups of lakes improved approximation of the chlorophyll nutrient relationship but revealed also functional differences between the lakes distinguished in that way. Chlorophyll in eutrophic lakes correlated well with nitrogen and phosphorus, that in mesotrophic lakes (those with summer chlorophyll <=22 mg m–3 as calculated in the model) was related to none of the nutrients. Higher summer chlorophyll content in epilimnetic waters was accompanied by higher chl:PP and chl:PN ratios. Algal adaptation to poor light conditions in eutrophic lakes is postulated as a possible reason for that difference.Chlorophyll – nutrient relationships varied with the trophic status of lakes. Epilimnetic chlorophyll strictly followed phosphorus changes in eutrophic lakes but did not do so in mesotrophic ones. Detailed comparison of selected meso- and eutrophic lakes showed marked differences in the seasonal changes of chlorophyll and nutrient concentrations and in sedimentation rates, especially in spring. Nutrient limitation rather than zooplankton grazing is suggested as a possible mechanism of controlling algal abundance and the sequence of spring events in a eutrophic lake. It is hypothesised that phosphorus turnover in eutrophic lakes is dominated by seasonal vertical fluxes, while in mesotrophic lakes it is more conservative with consumption and regeneration restricted mostly to metalimnion. Possible consequences of such conclusion are discussed in the paper.  相似文献

This paper reviews published knowledge on how to deal with invasive species during biological quality assessments in European river systems for water management and assessments of ecological quality required, for example, by the European Water Frame Work Directive. The papers studied included international papers and some standards for water assessment. An overview of the current state of neozoa research showed that many different topics are treated, comprising biogeography and fauna records, species replacements and effectiveness of colonisation, life cycles, competition between native and invasive species, habitat quality and pathways of migration. Additionally, some papers have been published recently on the integration of neozoa in index-based assessment systems. Although the decline or increase of alien species populations and the corresponding impacts on indigenous populations were frequently observed, the mechanisms behind the invasions often remain hypothetical. In the reviewed papers, issues such as possible reasons for coexistence, tolerances, quality of habitat or water, life history traits and introduction of diseases were rarely covered. Few neozoa are sufficiently investigated to be categorised as indicators. After discussing the advantages and disadvantages of inclusion or exclusion, inclusion of invaders in assessments of both biodiversity (all species) and human impact (only species classified in their specific tolerance) is suggested. Further research is required to (1) update and assign ecological profiles of the non-indigenous species currently and (2) assess the effects of new invaders on native communities.  相似文献
