Description of a new species of Lytorhynchus (Squamata: Colubridae) from Iran

A new species of the genus Lytorhynchus is described from the Kabir-Koh Mountains, southwestern Iran. Known from a single specimen, it is readily distinguished from its congeners by the form of the rostrum, the number of scales, and the colouration and colour pattern.

Two pselaphine species (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) new to Korea

Two pselaphine staphylinid species –Stipesa rudis Sharp and Tainochus nitidus Nomura – are identified for the first time in the Korean peninsula.     

Anthessius kimjensis,a new species of Anthessiidae (Copepoda; Poecilostomatoida) associated with the pelecypod Solen grandis Dunker in Korea

Anthessius kimjensis n. sp. is described based on the specimens recovered from the pelecypod Solen grandis Dunker in the Korean coast of the Yellow Sea. The new species is distinguished from congeners by having a combination of characters: setal formula II, I, 5 on distal segment of leg 4 exopod, three terminal hooks on distal segment of second antenna, and ratio of length to width on caudal ramus (2.2:1).     

Description of two new species of Pseudamnicola from southern Turkey (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Hydrobiidae)

New material of freshwater molluscs in the Mediterranean region of Turkey revealed two new species of the genus Pseudamnicola Paulucci, 1878, i.e., P. kayseriensis n. sp., and P. gullei n. sp.

Revision of the Trichosirocalus horridus (Panzer) species complex, with description of two new species infesting thistles (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Ceutorhynchinae)

Abstract The Trichosirocalus horridus (Panzer) species complex is defined and revised and two new sibling species are described and figured: T. briesei (type locality: San Esteban de Gormaz, Soria, Spain) and T. mortadelo (type locality: Canberra, Australia, introduced). The existence of these siblings could explain the different food preferences observed between the different populations or strains of the supposed single species T. horridus .     

Two Staphylinina species (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) new to Korea

Two species of the subtribe Staphylinina ( Platydracus vicarius Sharp and Ocypus lewisius Sharp) are identified for the first time in Korea. Diagnoses and illustrations of the habitus and male genitalia are presented.

Two new Tasmanian species of the genus Holonothrus (Acari: Oribatida: Crotoniidae)

Abstract

The juvenile stages and adults of two new Tasm anian crotoniid m ites Holonothrus minus‐culus sp. n. and H. glaesarius sp. n. are described and illustrated. Holonothrus minusculus sp. n. is similar to H. mitis Olszanowski, 1991 in body dimensions and because the openings of the opisthosomal gland are situated close to setae f2. It is similar to H. robus‐tus Olszanowski, 1991 in the length and structure of notogastral setae. H. glaesarius sp. n. is absolutely different from other known species of this genus and that is why it cannot be compared.     

Two coastal Athetini (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Aleocharinae) species new to Korea

Two coastal species in the tribe Athetini, Osakatheta yasukoae Maruyama, Klimaszewski and Gusarov, and Psammostiba hilleri (Weise), are newly discovered from the Korean fauna. Diagnoses, habitus photographs and line drawings of median lobe are provided.     

Three littoral Athetini (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Aleocharinae) species new to Korea

Three littoral Athetini species –Adota magnipennis (Bernhauer), Atheta ririkoae Sawada and Atheta tokiokai (Sawada) – are reported for the first time in Korea. Diagnoses, illustrations of the habitus and line drawings of diagnostic characters are provided.     

Two Ochthephilus Mulsant and Rey species new to Korea (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Oxytelinae)

The genus Ochthephilus Mulsant and Rey and two species –O. antennatus (Watanabe and Shibata) and O. vulgaris (Watanabe and Shibata) – are identified for the first time in Korea. A key, illustrations of the habitus, and line drawings of diagnostic characters are presented.     

Polysiphonia freshwateri sp. nov. and Polysiphonia koreana sp. nov.: two new species of Polysiphonia (Rhodomelaceae,Rhodophyta) from Korea

Polysiphonia sensu lato comprises approximately 200 species, which are currently assigned to several different genera. To date, one of these genera, namely, Polysiphonia, has been reported to have 17 species. Here, we describe for the first time P. freshwateri sp. nov. and P. koreana sp. nov. from Uljin and Ulleung Island, Korea, based on morphological and molecular evidence. Polysiphonia freshwateri sp. nov. and P. koreana sp. nov. are characterized by having the typical Polysiphonia features. Polysiphonia freshwateri sp. nov. is further characterized by having abundant trichoblasts, conspicuous scar cells, and tetrasporangia arranged in spiral series. Polysiphonia koreana sp. nov. is further characterized by having very scarce scar cells placed between two pericentral cells, from which cicatrigenous branches arise. The results of our rbcL sequence analyses support the taxonomic placement of P. freshwateri sp. nov. and P. koreana sp. nov. within Polysiphonia.     

New data on the genus Chrysotoxum Meigen (Diptera: Syrphidae) from North-East Turkey,Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran including descriptions of three new species

New data and records of the genus Chrysotoxum Meigen, 1803 are reported, arising from taxonomic and faunistic examination of adult specimens collected from 1920 to 2011 from four northeastern provinces of Turkey (Erzurum, Bayburt, Kars, and Artvin), and from the neighboring countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran. Three new species are described: Chrysotoxum antennalis Vuji?, Nedeljkovi? &; Hayat sp. n., C. clausseni Vuji?, Nedeljkovi? &; Hayat sp. n. and C. persicum Vuji?, Nedeljkovi? &; Hayat sp. n. The first two are known only from northeastern Turkey, and the third also occurs in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran. These new species have in common an antenna with the basoflagellomere being shorter than the scape and pedicel together.
