Four New Species of Symphypleona (Collembola) from Korea

ABSTRACT Four new species of Symphypleona, Ptenothrix plumiseta, Deuterosminthurus serratus, Sminthurus annulatus, Smithurinus distinctus , are described from Korea. Especially two genera, Deuterosminthurus and Sminthurinus are new record to Korea. Korean Collembola Symphypleona add up to 18 species, 11 genera in 6 family.     

Four New Species of Xenylla (Collembola: Hypogastruridae) from Korea

ABSTRACT Four new species of the collembolan genus Xenylla, X. convexopyga, X. longistriata, X. dotata and X. marina from Korea are described. X. convexopyga is characterized by an absence of the dorsal seta m₃ on Th. II-III. While the other three new species share similarities in dorsal chaetotaxic characters. However, they are dissimilar in the following respects: ventral chaetotaxy, body colour, presence or absence of inner teeth on unguis, the length proportion of abdominal segments and thoracic segments, arrangement of anal papillae and the general shape of apical bulb of fourth antennal segment. As a result of this study, a total of 25 species in 6 genera of Hypogastruridae have been recorded from the Korean Peninsula.     

Description of a new Homidia species (Collembola,Entomobryidae) from Korea

A new species, Homidia pseudoformosana from Korea is described in the present paper. The new species is characterized by labral papillae, ciliated labial seta L₁ and dorsal chaetotaxy of abdominal segment IV. The detailed differences between similar Homidia species are provided.     

Three new species of Arrhopalites (Collembola, Symphypleona, Arrhopalitidae) from Korea

Three new species of Arrhopalites in the Symphypleona from Korea are described and illustrated. This work also records new occurrence of Arrhopalites habei Yosii, 1956, with brief remarks. A key to the identification of the Korean species of Arrhopalites is provided.     

Isotomiella (Isotomidae: Collembola) of China

Seven species of the genus Isotomiella Bagnall 1939 were collected in China, two of which from Hainan and Guangxi provinces (South China) are newly described and illustrated. Isotomiella longisensilla n. sp. has bidentate mucro and long sensilla on most tergites, a character never seen before in this genus. I. deharvengi n. sp. belongs to the minor group and is characterized by a pair of strongly curved sensilla on Abd. V.     

Folsomia (Collembola: Isotomidae) of China. II. heterocellata group

An annotated list of species of the Folsomia heterocellata group recorded in China is given. Folsomia cephalota n. sp., F. dorsomediaseta n. sp., F. longiseta n. sp., F. manubriopilosa n. sp., F. longdeica n. sp., and F. plenosensilla n. sp. are characterized by having a simple maxillary palp, four prelabral setae and no eyes. They differentiate mainly by characteristics of the furca. We report other species of the group which are recorded for the first time in China: Folsomia tianshanica Martynova, 1969, F. pseudovtorovi Potapov & Gulgenova, 2013, and F. pseudodecemoculata Stebaeva, 1971. This excludes F. wanxianensis Ji, Ding & Chen, 2007, for which we provide morphological remarks based on the type material. The group is mainly distributed in the central part of China (Chongqing, Gansu, southern part of Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Shaanxi provinces). A key to all blind species with a simple maxillary palp is given.     

Aster chusanensis (Asteraceae), a new species from Korea

Asterchusanensis is described and illustrated, and compared with its most closely related species,A. pseudoglehni andA. spathulifolius. This new species differs markedly from the latter two by its unequal inner and outer phyllaries, pubescent stem, leaves, and corolla tube, and ray florets partly in two series.     

Lemyra flammeola (Moore) (Lepidoptera,Arctiidae), new to Korea

An arctiine species Lemyra flammeola (Moore) is newly recorded from Korea. Three specimens of L. flammeola were collected on the island of Jejudo in September of 2009. Here we provide a diagnosis and systematic account of L. flammeola. Up to now 79 species of Arctiidae have been recorded from the Korean peninsula.     

A new species of Clytus Laicharting (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) from Korea with a key to Korean species

A new species of Clytus Laicharting (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is described from Korea. Illustrations of diagnostic characteristics of the new species including male genitalia are provided with a key to Korean Clytus species.     

中国水生跳虫新种及新记录种记述 (弹尾目)

自Uchida(1948)从山西东冶县发现中国第1种水生Podura aquatica Linnaeus, 1785以来,中国弹尾目水生种类再未见报道。该文记述了采自上海植物园水塘静水表面的弹尾目5新种,水生原Podura aquatica, 尹氏球角Hypogastrura yinae sp. Nov., 沼生陷等Isotomurus palustris, 水生握角圆Sminthurides aquaticus 及刺拟勃氏圆Pseudobourletiella spinata。 其中水生握角圆和刺拟勃氏圆为中国新记录种,尹氏球角为新种。新种的模式标本及观察的其它种的标本存放在中国科学院上海昆虫研究所标本馆。     

Two new species of the tribe Hymenaphorurini Pomorski, 1996 (Collembola: Onychiuridae) from Korea

Two new species, Heteraphorura koreana sp. nov. and Psyllaphorura jirisana sp. nov., of the tribe Hymenaphorurini are described and illustrated based on materials from South Korea. Heteraphorura koreana sp. nov. belongs to the oriental species-group of the genus Heteraphorura, because of compound vesicles in the postantennal organ. This new species shares the same number of PAO with Heteraphorura pseudoseolagensis (Martynova, 1981) from Russia, but differs in pso dorsal formula and lateral teeth of claw. Psyllaphorura jirisana sp. nov. is similar to Psyllaphorura sensillifera.(Martynova, 1981) from the Russian Far East, but can be distinguished by shape of vesicles in PAO, dorsal s-chaetae on head and ratio AS/unguis. www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:F854CBFD-06D0-4396-B8D9-62468B427111.     

First record of Stigmatijanus Wei (Hymenoptera: Cephidae)from South Korea with description of a new species

The genus Stigmatijanus Wei, 2007 is recorded from Korea for the first time. A diagnosis of the genus is briefly discussed. A new species, Stigmatijanus koreanus sp. nov., is described from Mt. Homyeong, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. A key to the three species of the genus is provided.     

Six new and two newly recorded species of Chironomidae (Insecta: Diptera) in Korea

Adult chironomids were collected by light trap operations, sweeping grasses with insect nets, and aspiration of light‐attracted adults at various localities. All collected specimens were slide‐mounted and identified. Six species new to science were found and named: Rheotanytarsus pseudopentapoda n. sp., Cricotopus byeonsanensis n. sp., Cricotopus parajogantertius n. sp., Limnophyes bukhandecimus n. sp., Limnophyes simensis n. sp. and Orthocladius jeongnungensis. Two species, Ainuyusuroka tuberculatum (Tokunaga) and Pseudosmittia nishiharaensis Sasa and Hasegawa, are found for the first time in Korea. All species are fully described with illustrations. This is the first report of the genus Ainugusurika in Korea.     

A New Species of Halophilous Collembola (Insecta) from Korea

Three species of interstitial Collembola in Entomobryidae were identified from South Korean coast. One of them, Sinella (Coecobrya) maritima, is new to science. So far 21 halophilous species in 10 families of Collembola, including the new species in this paper, were reported from the Korean peninsula.     

Review of subfamily Diplazontinae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) from South Korea with six unrecorded genera and a new species

Of the 16 genera of the subfamily Diplazontinae occurring in the Eastern Palearctic region, 11 genera are recognized from South Korea. Specifically, four genera (Campocraspedon Uchida, Diplazon Nees, Syrphoctonus Förster and Woldstedtius Carlson) are previously recognized from South Korea, whereas the other seven genera are recorded from this country for the first time. A key to the 16 genera of Diplazontinae occurring in the Eastern Palearctic region is provided. Six genera of Korean Diplazontinae (Bioblapsis Förster, Campocraspedon Uchida, Eurytyloides Nakanishi, Phthorima Förster, Promethes Förster and Sussaba Cameron) are reviewed here. Species of these genera rarely occur in the Eastern Palearctic region with small numbers of collected samples (excluding genus Sussaba). Here we provide diagnosis for seven species of Diplazontinae and one new species, Eurytyloides koreanus Balueva and Lee sp. nov. , has been described.     

Two new species ofIsoetes (Isoetaceae) from Jeju Island, South Korea

We name and describe two new species,Isoetes jejuensis and I.hallasanensis, from Jeju Island, South Korea. These taxa are compared with related species in East Asia, including I.coreana andI. sinensis. The rugulate megaspore ornamentation ofI. jejuensis differs from those otherIsoetes species. Furthermore,I. hallasanensis varies fromI. asiatica in its microspore ornamentation and chromosome number, although both species have an echinate megaspore ornamentation. These new species are tetraploid (2n = 44), whereasI. coreana is hexaploid (2n = 66).     

Discovery of three new species of the genus Gyrophaena Mannerheim (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Aleocharinae) in Korea

Three new species of the mycophagous aleocharine genus Gyrophaena Mannerheim are described in Korea. The types and paratypes of the new species are designated. Illustrations of the diagnostic characters and habitus photographs of new species are provided with a key to Korean species of Gyrophaena.
