1. A number of tissues, in particular, brain, liver, and kidney, incubated aerobically in vitro as slices or ground suspensions produce a compound which combines with p-aminobenzoic acid in acid solution to form a yellow color. 2. A study of this reaction in rat brain has shown that this compound can be produced when washed boiled brain protein is incubated aerobically with ascorbic acid. The latter acts as a catalyst to break the linkage between the protein and the compound. Oxygen is taken up in the process. 3. A number of aromatic hydroxy compounds such as epinephrine and catechol inhibit the reaction. Cyanide has little or no effect. No reaction occurs anaerobically. 4. The occurrence of the reaction in some animals has been described.  相似文献

Salicylic acid (SA) has been proposed to play a role in the induction of pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins and systemic acquired resistance (SAR) in tobacco. Since SA is rapidly converted to salicylic acid β-glucoside (SAG) in tobacco, we have attempted to assess the role of SAG in pathogenesis by application of chemically synthesized SAG to tobacco leaves. SAG was as active as SA in induction of PR-1 gene expression. This induction was preceded by a transient release of SA, which occurred in the extracellular spaces. The existence of a mechanism that releases SA from SAG suggests a possible role for SAG in SAR.  相似文献

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) belongs to a new family of lipid mediators that are endogenous growth factors and that elicit diverse biological effects, usually via the activation of G protein-coupled receptors. LPA can be generated after cell activation through the hydrolysis of preexisting phospholipids in the membranes of stimulated cells. A dramatic elevation of LPA levels was found in serum of patients suffering from ovarian carcinoma. Because these high LPA amounts can be detected as early as stage I of the disease, LPA has been introduced as a new marker for ovarian cancer. Progression of the malignancy is correlated with a differential expression of various LPA receptor subtypes. The presence of LPA in the follicular fluid of healthy individuals implicates that this biological mediator may be relevant to normal ovarian physiology. LPA induces proliferation and mitogenic signaling of prostate cancer cells, and a novel LPA receptor isoform has been recognized in healthy prostate tissues. This evidence indicates multiple roles for LPA in both male and female reproductive physiology and pathology. In this review, we summarize the literature on LPA generation, the way it is degraded, and the mechanisms by which signals are transduced by various LPA receptors in reproductive tissues, and we discuss possible future research directions in these areas.  相似文献

目的:研究阿魏酸对高脂饮食结合小剂量链脲佐菌素(STZ)诱导的2型糖尿病小鼠心肌病变的影响,探讨其可能的作用机制。方法:雄性ICR小鼠20只,高糖高脂饮食连续6周,STZ (30 mg/kg)腹腔注射连续5d后,隔9d测空腹血糖(FBG),超过11.1 mmol/L视为糖尿病造模成功。将此20只小鼠随机分为模型组、阿魏酸组(200 mg/kg,i.g.),每组10只;另取10只正常小鼠为对照组;连续给药8周。末次给药后,测定FBG、称体重、全心重和左心室重,计算心脏质量指数(HMI)和左室质量指数(LVMI);测定超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活力、丙二醛(MDA)含量;Masson染色观察左心室纤维增生情况;免疫组化法测定心肌组织转化生长因子-β1(TGF-β1)、Ⅲ型胶原蛋白表达。结果:与模型组小鼠比较,阿魏酸组小鼠HMI、LVMI减小((P<0.01,P<0.05),心肌组织SOD活力升高、MDA含量下降(P<0.05);心肌胶原纤维沉积减少,间质纤维化改善;免疫组化显示心肌组织TGF-β1和Ⅲ型胶原蛋白表达减少(P<0.01,P<0.05)。结论:阿魏酸对糖尿病小鼠心肌病变具有保护作用,可能与抗氧化及抑制TGF-β1蛋白表达,减少Ⅲ型胶原蛋白沉积有关。  相似文献

Abscisic acid and its derivatives, formed with the terminalcarboxyl group replaced respectively by aldehyde, hydroxymethyland methyl groups, were examined for their effects on stomatalclosing. Enzymatic hydrolytic degradation of polybutylene succinate (PBS), poly(polybutylenesuccinate-co-1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol) (PBS/CHDM) and poly(polybutylene succinate-co-diglycolic acid) (PBS/DGA) in mixed solvent of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and toluene was examined. Lipase was used as catalyst to degrade polymers with molecular weight of more than 100,000, and the molecular weight of products ranged from hundreds to thousands. Thermal decomposition temperatures of all products were below 250°C. The degradation products of both PBS/CHDM and PBS/DGA showed two melting points at about 85 and 99°C. Mass spectrometry (MS) was employed to obtain the molecular weight of oligomers extracted from the products, which proved to be low-polyesters with the molecular weight of less 1,000. The butanediol (BDO) monomer was found in PBS/CHDM degradation product for the first time.  相似文献

Summary The effect of foliar spray of Gibberellic acid in different concentrations was studied. The variation in the number of fungi/g of dry soil in rhizosphere was found to be significant in case ofD. alba andO. sanctum and insignificant in case ofW. somnifera. Qualitatively, no marked difference was observed in the rhizosphere fungal flora of sprayed and control plants.  相似文献

Unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs), including oleic acid (OA, C18:1n-9), linoleic acid (LA, C18:2n-6) and α-linolenic acid (ALA, C18:3n-3), are major components of membrane lipids in Pichia pastoris GS115. In order to clarify the biosynthesis pathway of UFAs on the molecular level and investigate their possible roles in growth and development of this strain, we here report modified strains with disrupted desaturase gene by homologous recombination. Gas chromatography analysis of fatty acid composition in the corresponding mutants confirmed that ?12-desaturase encoded by Fad12 was responsible for the formation of LA, and ALA was synthesized by ?15-desaturase encoded by Fad15. Simultaneous deletion of Fad9A and Fad9B was lethal and supplementation of OA could restore growth, indicating that possibly both Fad9A and Fad9B encoded ?9-desaturase that converted SA into OA. Phenotypic analysis demonstrated that wild type and Fad15 mutant grew at almost the same rate, Fad12 mutant grew much slower than these two strains. Moreover, OA was positively correlated to cold tolerance and ethanol tolerance of GS115, whereas LA and ALA did not affect cold tolerance and ethanol tolerance of it. In addition, we showed that tolerance of GS115 to high concentration of methanol was independent of these three UFAs.  相似文献
