The process of collision of ion-acoustic solitary waves in a collisionless plasma with cold ions and Boltzmann electrons is studied using numerical simulations. It is shown that solitary waves with sufficiently large amplitudes do not preserve their identity after the collision. Their amplitudes decrease, and the shapes change. It is found that the collision is accompanied by the generation of fast ions with velocities exceeding threefold the ion sound speed.  相似文献

The energy of directed plasma flows accelerated in a current sheet is studied experimentally as a function of the current flowing through the sheet. It is found that the plasma flow energy rapidly increases with increasing current amplitude, nearly according to a power law with an exponent of 1.8–1.9. Using relations for the neutral current sheet and the concept of plasma acceleration under action of the Ampère forces, the energy of directed plasma flows is estimated as a function of the total current flowing through the sheet. It is shown that, as the current rises, the ion energy grows due to an increase in both the Ampère forces and the width of the current sheet within which plasma is accelerated.  相似文献

Results are presented from experimental studies of the plasma flows generated in the KPF-4 Phoenix Mather-type plasma focus device (Sukhum Physical Technical Institute). In order to study how the formation and dynamics of the plasma flow depend on the initial distribution of the working gas, a system of pulsed gas puffing into the discharge volume was developed. The system allows one to create profiled gas distributions, including those with a reduced gas density in the region of plasma flow propagation. Results of measurements of the magnetic field, flow profile, and flow deceleration dynamics at different initial distributions of the gas pressure are presented.  相似文献

A device based on a pulsed current generator with capacitive energy storage loaded on a plasma focus (PF) chamber is described. The device provides a discharge current amplitude of up to 2 MA in the PF chamber at a stored energy in the capacitor bank of up to 150 kJ. The PF chamber is designed to study hard X-ray (HXR) emission. It has windows for output of HXR emission in the cathode direction, as well as a special insert for output of HXR emission into the anode cavity. A study of operation of the chamber as a part of the setup with the use of various X-ray targets on the anode has been carried out. At a discharge current of 1.5MA, an HXR pulse with an average duration of 16 ns and energy spectrum from 10 to 200 keV, which provides an absorbed dose in the irradiated samples on the order of 1 Sv, is generated in the PF chamber.  相似文献

Mitogenic substances on human peripheral blood mononuclear leukocytes were screened from culture filtrates of microorganisms newly isolated from soil and sea water by measuring [3H]- thymidine incorporation into the cells. Strong mitogenic activity was found in marine bacteria, particularly in marine vibrios. These mitogen samples exhibited neither hemagglutinating activity nor leukoagglutinating activity. They could scarcely stimulate murine lymphocytes.

Cell-cell interaction among leukocyte subsets in response to a bacterial mitogen was investigated using the most powerfully mitogenic sample (culture filtrate of strain H 52–2). A slight decrease in the mitogen response was observed on depletion of plastic surface adherent cells. Separation of T and non-T cells from each other by erythrocyte-rosette sedimentation resulted in a markedly diminished mitogen response. Considerable restoration of the mitogen response was obtained when T cells were mixed with mitomycin C-treated adherent cells or mitomycin C-treated non-T lymphocytes, or when non-T lymphocytes were mixed with mitomycin C-treated T cells.  相似文献
