The breakdown of self-incompatibility, which could result from the accumulation of non-functional S-haplotypes or competitive interaction between two different functional S-haplotypes, has been studied extensively at the molecular level in tetraploid Rosaceae species. In this study, two tetraploid Chinese cherry (Prunus pseudocerasus) cultivars and one diploid sweet cherry (Prunus avium) cultivar were used to investigate the ploidy of pollen grains and inheritance of pollen-S alleles. Genetic analysis of the S-genotypes of two intercross-pollinated progenies showed that the pollen grains derived from Chinese cherry cultivars were hetero-diploid, and that the two S-haplotypes were made up of every combination of two of the four possible S-haplotypes. Moreover, the distributions of single S-haplotypes expressed in self- and intercross-pollinated progenies were in disequilibrium. The number of individuals of the two different S-haplotypes was unequal in two self-pollinated and two intercross-pollinated progenies. Notably, the number of individuals containing two different S-haplotypes (S1- and S5-, S5- and S8-, S1- and S4-haplotype) was larger than that of other individuals in the two self-pollinated progenies, indicating that some of these hetero-diploid pollen grains may have the capability to inactivate stylar S-RNase inside the pollen tube and grow better into the ovaries.  相似文献

From Gutenbergia marginata ten new guaianolides were isolated. Two guaianolides isolated previously from Erlangea inyangana are identical with two further lactones and their structures have been revised. From Bothriocline ripensis ethulia coumarin and two further 5-alkylcoumarin derivatives, one being a chromone, were isolated, while B. longipes and B. eupatorioides gave nine 5-alkylcoumarins and two related compounds. The structures were elucidated by highfield NMR techniques and a few chemical transformations.  相似文献

We examined the hypothesis that toxic effects of Microcystis aeruginosa to population dynamics, ephippial production, and resting egg formation of Daphnia were restricted by food quality levels. Four unicellular, toxic M. aeruginosa strains with contrasting concentration of microcystin and two Daphnia species were used in this study. The number of offspring at first reproduction, population densities, and maximum population growth rate of two Daphnia species were lower at the highest toxic M. aeruginosa 7820 treatment compared with other treatments under two concentrations of Scenedesmus obliquus. The maximum number of offspring at first reproduction of two Daphnia species appeared in the higher toxic M. aeruginosa 526 strain at the high concentration of S. obliquus. The effects of M. aeruginosa strains, S. obliquus, and their combination on the number of offspring at first reproduction and the maximum population growth rate of two Daphnia species were significant (P < 0.001). Two Daphnia species could not reproduce in the highest toxic M7820 treatment under two concentrations of S. obliquus. They had lower population size and maximum population growth rate in the higher toxic M526 treatment at the low concentration of S. obliquus, but they were higher at the high concentration of S. obliquus. This result suggests that high S. obliquus concentration could relieve the toxicity of M. aeruginosa to Daphnia, and Daphnia could utilize the lower toxic Microcystis as food. The cumulative ephippia numbers of two Daphnia species were more at the high concentration of S. obliquus than those at the low concentration. The percentage of ephippia containing no resting eggs of two Daphnia species was evidently higher at the low concentration of S. obliquus but was lower at the high concentration of S. obliquus. Our results indicated that the cumulative ephippia numbers of Daphnia were population density dependent at the high-level food, and the productions of ephippia in Daphnia were significantly controlled by microcystin concentration at the low-level food.  相似文献

Primitive upland cultivars (Oryza sativa L.) were collected in northern Laos. One-hundred-thirty-two cultivars were collected in upland fields at 27 sites. Morphological and physiological traits were recorded. The materials were classified intoindica and japonica types based on isozyme genotypes. We classified 106japonica, 16indica, two intermediate, and eight heterozygous cultivars. Thejaponica cultivars were characterized by glabrous hulls and sticky grains. Only two out of 16indica cultivars were glabrous. The heterozygotes were estimated to be generated by out-crosses betweenjaponica andindica cultivars in upland fields. The intermediate type would be the progeny of such heterozygotes. Higher polymorphism was found at two isozyme loci—Amp1 andEst2—among thejaponica cultivars. Genotypic frequencies differed between populations collected from upland fields along roads and along a branch of the Mekong river. Such differences would be caused by different origins of these two populations. In this report, isozymes were indicated as valuable markers to recognize the cultivars to be of independent stock.  相似文献

In the green alga Acetabularia mediterranea a light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b · protein complex of 67 000 daltons has been found which contains two polypeptide chains of 21 500 and 23 000 daltons. These two polypeptides were isolated on a preparative scale and were further characterized by several different methods. Both polypeptides proved to be very similar. While their amino acid and sugar compositions as well as their immunochemical properties were almost identical the tryptic peptides and the cyanogen bromide fragments of the two polypeptides revealed minor but significant differences. The 67 000-dalton chlorophyll a/b · protein complex and its two polypeptide components were compared to the light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b · protein of higher plants.  相似文献

Twenty-seven flavonoids were found among three species of Leptodactylon and sixteen species of Linanthus, of which only three were identical between the two genera. This argues strongly for the maintenance of two genera; however, the underlying similarities in coumarins, flavonol glycosides, chrysoeriol and glycoflavones suggest that the two genera are closely related. The flavonoid data also suggest that Leptodactylon and Linanthus of the tribe Gilieae may actually be closer to Phlox and Microsteris of the tribe Polemonieae, than to other Gilieae.  相似文献

The structures of two 4α-methylsterols is isolated from Cucumis sativus(Cucurbitaceae) seeds were determined based mainly on their 13CNMR spectra as 24β-ethyl-31-norlanosta-8,25(27)-dien-3β-ol and 24β-ethyl-25(27)- dehydrolophenol, respectively, of which the former is a new sterol from natural sources. These two 4α-methylsterols were identified in the seeds of two other Cucurbitaceae species, Lagenaria leucantha var. Gourda and Citrullus battich. The probable biogenetic significance of the two 4α-methylsterols is discussed. Other 4α-methylsterols identified in the seeds of the three Cucurbitaceae species were obtusifoliol, cycloeucalenol and gramisterol.  相似文献

Opossums and rodents were sampled by live-trapping at Paracou, French Guiana to study habitat use. Tomahawk and Sherman traps were placed on the ground and at various heights in the subcanopy and canopy. We captured 10 species of opossums and seven species of rodents. We measured 14 microhabitat variables at each of 485 sampling stations. Presence or absence at a trap station of the three most abundant species of opossums (Didelphis albiventris, Didelphis marsupialis, and Micoureus demerarae) and two rodents (Oecomys rutilus and Proechimys cuvieri) were related by logistic regression analysis to the microhabitat variables. All five species were associated with at least one habitat variable. Linear analysis of categorical data was used to determine the degree of arboreality. Didelphis marsupialis and P. cuvieri were more commonly captured on the ground, D. albiventris was equitably distributed between ground and arboreal traps, and the remaining species were mostly arboreal. Linear analysis was used to compare the distribution of arboreal captures among two substrate types, two heights, and two substrate diameters. Oecomys rutilus was more commonly captured on lianas, D. albiventris and O. rutilus were more commonly captured at lower heights, and D. marsupialis demonstrated a preference for larger arboreal substrates.  相似文献

Batesian mimicry, a type of deceptive pollination, is a complicated strategy used by nonrewarding plants to attract pollinators, but some hypotheses concerning this have not been systematically verified. In order to show in detail a case of Batesian mimicry on saprophytic orchid Danxiaorchis yangii, the ecological relationship between Danxiaorchis yangii, Lysimachia alfredi and Dufourea spp. was explored. Lysimachia alfredi could provide a reward to Dufourea sp., whereas Danxiaorchis yangii not. The floral morphology and geographical distribution of these two plants were highly overlapping, and the fruit set rate of Danxiaorchis yangii was significantly positively correlated with the number of nearby L. alfredi individuals. In a glass cylinder experiment, Danxiaorchis yangii and L. alfredi attracted Dufourea spp. through visual signals, but the insect could not distinguish between flowers of the two plants before landing on flowers. The ultraviolet reflection spectra of flowers between the two plant species were highly similar. In the hexagonal color models constructed according to the visual characteristics of bees, the flower color signals of these two plant species highly overlap, indicating that the visual signals of the flowers of the two plants to the pollinator were greatly similar. All of these results provided evidence that Danxiaorchis yangii simulated the visual signals of L. alfredi through Batesian mimicry, thereby deceptively attracting Dufourea spp.  相似文献

Two new naturally-occurring analogues of the phytotoxin coronatine have been isolated from liquid cultures of Pseudomonas syringae pv. glycinea. These have been identified as N-coronafacoyl-L-isoleucine and N-coronafacoyl-L-alloisoleucine by mass spectrometry and by studies of the products of acid hydrolysis of the two compounds. The compounds were purified as a mixture of ca 2:1 composition, but the two parent components were not preparatively separated. The possible significance of the two compounds, to the biosynthesis of coronatine, is discussed.  相似文献

Forty-eight new mutations at the am locus of Neurospora crassa have been characterized. Nineteen mutations were induced by UV; of these, eight were missense, two were frameshifts, two were nonsense, three were deletions and four were unidentified. Twenty-nine mutations were induced with nitrous acid; of these, twenty-one were missense, three were frameshifts, one was nonsense, two were deletions and one was genetically unstable.  相似文献

This study aimed at characterizing two novel bacteriocin-producing enterococcal strains isolated from human intestine. A total of 200 lactic acid bacteria were isolated from a woman stool sample. Two of them were selected for characterization due to their high antimicrobial activity against five strains of Listeria monocytogenes. The selected bacteria were identified as two different strains of Enterococcus faecium and designated MT 104 and MT 162. The bacteriocins produced by MT 104 and MT 162 were stable at different pH ranging from 2 to 11 and were active after different treatments such as heat, enzymes, detergents, and γ-irradiation. The two isolated strains exhibited some probiotic properties such as survival in simulated gastric fluid and intestinal fluid, lack of expression of bile salt hydrolase or hemolytic activity, adhesion to Caco-2 cells efficiently, and sensitivity to clinical antimicrobial agents. Thus, the two isolated strains of E. faecium could become new probiotic bacteria and their bacteriocins could be used for controlling L. monocytogenes in combination with irradiation for food preservation.  相似文献

Pollen grains from 20 spruce species were examined using scanning electron microscopy, to study the phylogeny of pollen morphology in spruce. Morphological characteristics of the pollen were examined among different species based on statistical data and photographic observation. The mean pollen size of 20 spruce species ranged from 84.327 to 118.793.18 μm. Based on morphological photography, two zygomorphic bladders were distributed on the underside of the corpus and were found at the edge of the cap near the corpus surface. The bladder’s surface texture was smooth and had no distinct variations among species. Germinal furrows formed clear striates between the two bladders. According to clustering analysis, 20 spruce species were classified into three sections, namely, Castict, Schrenkiana and Picea, and the Picea section was classified into two subsections, Jezonensis and Picea. Corpus veins experienced notable differentiation among sections, and their evolutionary trend progressed through sections Castict, Schrenkiana and Picea. Within subsection Picea, parallel evolution occurred between the two subsections.  相似文献

The behavior of heterozygously inverted X chromosomes that were members of the distributive pool at least 70% of the time was studied when the other pool members were either two free 4's or one compound 4. The X's were structurally modified by additions or deletions of heterochromatin, so that the two homologues differed in both size and configuration or in size alone. In the noncompetitive situation, with two free 4's, recognition between the X's remained high despite the modifications, and primary X nondisjunction was low. In the competitive situation, with the compound 4, distributive nondisjunction of the X's increased approximately two orders of magnitude, and trivalent formation was indicated. Disjunction from the trivalent varied with X size and configuration. When both X's were acrocentric, the smaller X directed the larger X and the very small (see PDF) to the same pole; when the larger X carried a second arm, it assumed the directing role; when the size ratio of the smaller, one-armed X to the larger, two-armed X became less than ~5/9, the smaller X again directed the other two.  相似文献

Two Diaporthe species isolated from fruit of Citrus sinensis in China were characterized based on morphology and multilocus phylogeny of ITS, tef1, and tub2 gene sequences. The phylogeny indicated that the two species match Diaporthe taoicola and D. siamensis. A critical examination of phenotypic characteristics confirmed the phylogenetic results. Diaporthe taoicola was morphologically characterized by producing Alpha conidia with tapering toward both ends. Meanwhile, D. siamensis produced cylindrical or ellipsoidal Alpha conidia with two oil drops. Pathogenicity tests revealed that both species were pathogenic to fruit of C. sinensis. To our knowledge, the two species were firstly reported on Citrus sinensis in China.  相似文献

We have used in situ hybridization to determine the sites of insertion of Agrobacterium rhizogenes Ri T-DNA in the chromosomes of Crepis capillaris (2n = 6) transformed roots. Four transformed root lines were obtained by infecting Crepis stem segments with A. rhizogenes. Southern hybridization analysis indicated that each root line was the result of one or more independent T-DNA insertion events. In two root lines, one copy of T-DNA was present; the other two root lines each contained two copies of T-DNA. To localize these T-DNA inserts on Crepis chromosomes, metaphase spreads were perpared from each root line, and hybridized in situ to a biotinlabeled T-DNA probe. The results indicated that T-DNA was present in a different chromosomal location in each root line, and that each chromosome had been a target for T-DNA insertion at least once. In the root lines containing two T-DNA inserts, two patterns of integration were observed: in one case the T-DNAs were present on separate chromosomes; in the other case the two T-DNAs were close together (but not tandemly arranged) on a single chromosome. A comparison of these results and those obtained previously for a fifth Crepis-transformed root line demostrated that Ri T-DNA does not insert preferentially into a particlar chromosomal location.  相似文献

The immunological properties of the proteinaceous component of the parasporal crystal (δ-endotoxin) of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki were analyzed by rocket immunoelectrophoresis. Two antisera, one against the k-l-type crystal containing two components, and the other against the k-73-type crystal containing one component, were made in rabbits. The antigens consisting of purified and dissociated crystals were run in electrophoresis with these two antisera. The ratio between the two peak heights of precipitin lines, which were formed by the dissociated crystal of one B. thuringiensis isolate in two antisera, was compared with the ratios of other isolates under identical conditions. The difference in the ratio reflected a difference in the structure of the crystal component and correlated closely with the insecticidal activity spectrum. This method can be used to evaluate a newly isolated B. thuringiensis, and it can further differentiate the isolates which have been classified as one serotype.  相似文献

The European anchovy, Engraulis encrasicolus, is currently one of the principal target species for commercial fisheries in Europe. In this study, the mitochondrial Control Region (CR) and the Cytochrome Oxidase I (COI) mitochondrial gene were analyzed in 74 specimens of E. encrasicolus from four localities in the central Mediterranean. In both populations, the two markers revealed the presence of two main haplogroups, A and B, already detected in previous investigations of different classes of molecular markers. Both CR and COI markers consistently identified two haplogroups. The COI sequence analysis identified a non-synonymous transversion (T to G) at position 116 of the translated sequence, resulting in an amino acid change. All COI sequences of haplogroup A had an amino acid sequence with alanine in this position, while serine was present in the same position in haplogroup B. The two haplogroups A and B were also discriminated by the variable number of TACA elements at the 5’-end of the mitochondrial CR. The selection tests applied to the COI dataset revealed that codon 116 was not under positive selection, that seven amino acid changes were under purifying selection, and that two amino acids were under episodic positive selection.  相似文献

The cytochrome P450 family encompasses the largest family of enzymes in plant metabolism, and the functions of many of its members in Arabidopsis thaliana are still unknown. Gene coexpression analysis pointed to two P450s that were coexpressed with two monoterpene synthases in flowers and were thus predicted to be involved in monoterpenoid metabolism. We show that all four selected genes, the two terpene synthases (TPS10 and TPS14) and the two cytochrome P450s (CYP71B31 and CYP76C3), are simultaneously expressed at anthesis, mainly in upper anther filaments and in petals. Upon transient expression in Nicotiana benthamiana, the TPS enzymes colocalize in vesicular structures associated with the plastid surface, whereas the P450 proteins were detected in the endoplasmic reticulum. Whether they were expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae or in N. benthamiana, the TPS enzymes formed two different enantiomers of linalool: (−)-(R)-linalool for TPS10 and (+)-(S)-linalool for TPS14. Both P450 enzymes metabolize the two linalool enantiomers to form different but overlapping sets of hydroxylated or epoxidized products. These oxygenated products are not emitted into the floral headspace, but accumulate in floral tissues as further converted or conjugated metabolites. This work reveals complex linalool metabolism in Arabidopsis flowers, the ecological role of which remains to be determined.  相似文献

We constructed strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae that contained two different mutant alleles of either the leu2 gene or the ura3 gene. These repeated genes were located on nonhomologous chromosomes; the two ura3- alleles were located on chromosomes V and XII and the two leu2- alleles were located on chromosomes III and XII. Genetic interactions between the two mutant copies of a gene were detected by the generation of either Leu+ or Ura+ revertants. Both spontaneous and ultraviolet irradiation-induced revertants were examined. By genetic and physical analysis, we have shown that Leu+ or Ura+ revertants can arise by a variety of different genetic interactions. The most common type of genetic interaction is the nonreciprocal transfer of information from one repeat to the other. We also detected reciprocal recombination between repeated genes, resulting in reciprocally translocated chromosomes.  相似文献
