C.RF- Tshr(hyt/hyt) mice have a mutated thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor (TSHR), and, without thyroid hormone supplementation, these mice develop severe hypothyroidism. When hypothyroid Tshr(hyt/hyt) mice were exposed to cold (4 degrees C), rectal temperature rapidly dropped to 23.9 +/- 0.40 degrees C at 90 min, whereas the wild-type mice temperatures were 37.0 +/- 0.15 degrees C. When we carried out functional rat TSHR gene transfer in the brown adipose tissues by plasmid injection combined with electroporation, there was no effect on the serum levels of thyroxine, although rectal temperature of the mice transfected with pcDNA3.1/Zeo-rat TSHR 90 min after cold exposure remained at 34.6 +/- 0.34 degrees C, which was significantly higher than that of Tshr(hyt/hyt) mice. Transfection of TSHR cDNA increased mRNA and protein levels of uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1) in brown adipose tissues, and the weight ratio of brown adipose tissue to overall body weight also increased. Exogenous thyroid hormone supplementation to Tshr(hyt/hyt) mice restored rectal temperature 90 min after exposure to cold (36.8 +/- 0.10 degrees C). These results indicate that not only thyroid hormone but also thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)/TSHR are involved in the expression mechanism of UCP-1 in mouse brown adipose tissue. TSH stimulates thermogenesis and functions to protect a further decrease in body temperature in the hypothyroid state.  相似文献

This study was performed to investigate central efferent mechanisms for brown adipose tissue thermogenesis. In unanesthetized rats, the effects of local anesthesia of the ventromedial hypothalamus, anterior hypothalamus, and lateral hypothalamus were observed on the brown adipose tissue thermogenesis induced by preoptic cooling. Rats had a thermode, thermocouple, and bilateral injection cannulae chronically implanted in the hypothalamus and a thermocouple beneath the interscapular brown adipose tissue. The experiments were done at an ambient temperature of 24-25 degrees C. Preoptic cooling increased brown adipose tissue and colonic temperatures without shivering. Injecting lidocaine bilaterally into the ventromedial hypothalamus during preoptic cooling reduced brown adipose tissue temperature (Tbat). The mean maximum decrease of Tbat was 0.51 +/- 0.26 degrees C and occurred 5-8 min after lidocaine injection. When lidocaine was injected into the anterior hypothalamus, Tbat increased. The mean maximum increase of Tbat was 0.85 +/- 0.29 degrees C and occurred 4-9 min after lidocaine injection. In the lateral hypothalamus, lidocaine had no effect on Tbat. Tbat was not influenced by injection of saline into the ventromedial, anterior, or lateral hypothalamus. The efferent pathway from preoptic to brown adipose tissue may thus traverse the medial part of hypothalamus. The ventromedial hypothalamus facilitates and anterior hypothalamus inhibits brown adipose tissue thermogenesis induced by preoptic cooling.  相似文献

These experiments were carried out to study the effects of acute cold exposure (0-2 degrees C/4 hr) on rectal temperature, blood glucose and plasma free fatty acids (FFA) in alloxan-diabetic rats. Male Wistar rats weighing 170-190 g were used and diabetes was induced by i.v. alloxan injection (40 mg/kg body wt). Cold exposure produced severe hypothermia in diabetic rats. After 4 hr of cold, blood glucose of diabetic rats was reduced from 296 +/- 16 to 86 +/- 12 mg/dl (P less than 0.01), and FFA increased slightly, but was not statistically different (P greater than 0.05) from the initial value. As expected, interscapular brown adipose tissue (IBAT) and retroperitoneal and epididymal white adipose tissues were significantly lower in diabetic than in control rats. Cold exposure reduced total IBAT lipids in control but not in diabetic animals. The results of this experiment suggest that diabetic rats were unable to maintain body temperature in the cold, probably because of a failure to generate an adequate amount of heat by nonshivering thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue.  相似文献

Effects of bombesin on brown adipose tissue (BAT) thyroxine (T4) 5'-deiodinase (5'D) activity and rectal temperature were examined in male mice. Immediately following an intracerebroventricular (ICV) or intravenous (IV) injection of bombesin (0.1-100 ng/animal) or vehicle (20 mM bacitracin dissolved in 0.9% saline), the mice were placed in a room at 4 degrees C or 22 degrees C for 30, 60, 120 or 240 min. The ICV injection of bombesin dose-dependently lessened cold-induced increase in BAT 5'D activity and increased hypothermia determined at 120 min of cold exposure, whereas the IV injection of bombesin was without effect. Bombesin (ICV)-induced hypothermia preceded the inhibition of BAT 5'D activity by at least 30 min at 4 degrees C. BAT 5'D activity was not affected by ICV injection of bombesin in mice kept at 22 degrees C, although the rectal temperature was significantly decreased. Bombesin thus appears to prevent cold-induced increase in T4 5'D activity in mouse BAT by its central effect. Bombesin-induced excessive hypothermia itself and/or the decrease in sympathetic tone of BAT by bombesin might decrease cold-induced increase in BAT 5'D activity.  相似文献

Adult male and female Beagle dogs (eight total) were exposed individually, in series, to each of 23 effective temperatures for a period of 2 hours or until rectal temperature increased 1.1 degrees C. Rectal temperature was measured to the nearest 0.1 degree C by thermistor probes in the pre-test condition (basal temperature) and at each 5-minute interval during the test conditions (effective temperatures between 21.1 degrees C and 34.7 degrees C). The frequency at which dogs displayed a 1.1 degree C rise in rectal temperature was related to the magnitude of the effective temperature. At an effective temperature of 32.6 degrees C or greater, 100% of the dogs displayed a 1.1 degree C rise in rectal temperature. Between an effective temperature of 29.3 degrees C and 31.4 degrees C, some animals displayed a 1.1 degree C rise while others did not. At an effective temperature of 28.4 degrees C or below no animals displayed a 1.1 degree C rise. The mean time necessary for a 1.1 degree C rise was negatively correlated (P less than 0.01) to the magnitude of the effective temperature. The minimum effective temperature necessary to increase rectal temperature by 1.1 degree C in male Beagles (29.6 +/- 1.0 degree C) was not significantly different from females (30.8 +/- 0.4 degrees C).  相似文献

Rectal temperature, temperature of the brown adipose tissue, and the heart rate were studied in the rabbit foetus under intact and reduced utero-placenta blood flow in the end of the intrauterine development. With the reduced utero-placenta blood flow, bradycardia and a drop in the brown fat metabolism due, probably, to an insufficient development and functional immaturity of this tissue, were revealed.  相似文献

The bilateral lobe of interscapular brown adipose tissue of the Djungarian hamster was unilaterally denervated in order to study the role of the sympathetic innervation for maintenance and cold-induced increase of non-shivering thermogenesis. Denervation decreased the noradrenaline content of brown adipose tissue to less than 9% of the intact contralateral pad. This low noradrenaline level was maintained for 1–14 days after denervation. First, to study the role of the sympathetic innervation of brown adipose tissue in the maintenance of the high thermogenic capacity characteristic of the cold acclimated state, brown adipose tissue was denervated in hamsters either kept at thermoneutrality or acclimated to 5°C ambient temperature for 4 weeks. Cold-acclimated hamsters had elevated levels of uncoupling protein messenger ribonucleic acid (8.1-fold) and cytochrom-c oxidase-activity (3-fold). Denervation of brown adipose tissue decreased uncoupling protein-messenger ribonucleic acid level and cytochrom-c-oxidase-activity as compared to the intact pad in thermoneutral and in cold-acclimated hamsters. However, in cold-acclimated hamsters uncoupling protein-messenger ribonucleic acid level and cytochrom-c-oxidase-activity in denervated brown adipose tissue both were maintained on an elevated 6-fold higher levels as compared to thermoneutral controls. Second, to study the role of the sympathetic innervation of brown adipose tissue in the cold-induced increase in thermogenic capacity, hamsters were denervated prior to cold acclimation and responses were measured after 3 and 14 days of cold exposure. Uncoupling protein-messenger ribonucleic acid level and cytochrom-c-oxidase-activity of intact brown adipose tissue increased after 14 days cold acclimation. Denervation did not completely prevent a cold-induced 1.5-fold increase of cytochrom-c-oxidase-activity and a 3.2-fold increase of the uncoupling protein-messenger ribonucleic acid level in denervated brown adipose tissue after 14 days of cold acclimation. In conclusion, high levels of uncoupling protein-messenger ribonucleic acid and cytochrom-c-oxidase activity in brown adipose tissue of cold-acclimated hamsters can partially be maintained without intact sympathetic innervation, suggesting a considerable contribution of trophic factors not requiring sympathetic innervation for maintenance. The cold-induced increase of cytochrom-c-oxidase activity and expression of uncoupling protein-messenger ribonucleic acid largely depends upon sympathetic innervation of brown adipose tissue.Abbreviations ANOVA analysis of variance - BAT brown adipose tissue - COX cytochrom-c-oxidase - HPLC high performance liquid chromatography - mRNA messenger ribonucleie acid - NA noradrenaline - T a ambient temperature - UCP uncoupling protein  相似文献

The exposure of Wistar male rats (200±20 g) to high ambient temperature (38°C) for 20 and 60 min induced an equal decrease in hypothalamic, brain stem and hippocampal monoamine oxidase activity when compared to controls. The interscapular brown adipose tissue monoamine oxidase activity, as well as oxygen consumption and rectal temperature were increased only after a 60 min heat exposure. The adrenal function, assessed by dopamine-beta-hydroxylase activity and cholesterol concentration, was enhanced both after 20 and 60 min. In conclusion, heat induced the increase in adrenal function and interscapular brown adipose tissue monoamine oxidase activity, but the decrease in that of the brain.  相似文献

We investigated the relative importance of overeating, thermogenesis, and uncoupling protein (UCP) expression in determining the severity of obesity in male Wistar rats fed a highly palatable diet. After 2 wk of feeding, body weight did not differ significantly from controls (248 +/- 4 vs. 229 +/- 3 g; P > 0.3), but rectal temperature, brown adipose tissue (BAT) mass, UCP3 expression in gastrocnemius muscle, and UCP2 expression in white adipose tissue (WAT) were all elevated in diet-fed animals. In a further study, rats fed a palatable diet for 8 wk exhibited higher energy intake and rectal temperature than controls. Dietary-obese rats were divided into high (427-490 g; n = 8) and low (313-410 g; n = 10) weight gainers. The high gainers ate significantly more than the low gainers, and energy intake was positively correlated with weight gain (r(2) = 0.72, P < 0.01). UCP2 and UCP3 mRNA levels in gastrocnemius muscle were significantly increased above lean controls in all diet-fed animals, whereas UCPs in WAT and BAT did not differ significantly from controls. Whereas rats fed palatable food exhibited a thermogenic response, there was no significant difference in core temperature between high and low gain groups (37. 5 +/- 0.1 vs. 37.6 +/- 0.1 degrees C; P > 0.5). We conclude that a higher energy intake is the critical factor determining susceptibility to dietary obesity in unselected Wistar rats.  相似文献

Nonshivering thermogenesis (NST) is a main source of heat for many small mammals. It undergoes seasonal changes, being the highest in winter and the lowest in summer. Such acclimatization can ensure winter survival for species living in moderate or cold climates. Nevertheless, not only seasonal, but also daily changes in the capacity for NST seem to be of great importance. In this study, the effects of season and time of day on the temperature of brown adipose tissue (T(BAT)), preferred ambient temperature (PT(a)) and activity after noradrenaline (NA) injections in golden hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) housed under semi-natural conditions were investigated. Animals were kept in outdoor enclosures and experienced natural changes in both, photoperiod and ambient temperature (T(a)). NA-induced hyperthermia was the largest during autumn (mean increase in T(BAT) by 0.74+/-0.04 degrees C), while during summer increase in T(BAT) was similar to that recorded in control (saline-injected) animals (0.16+/-0.05 degrees C and 0.24+/-0.04 degrees C, respectively). In spring hyperthermia was intermediary (0.57+/-0.05 degrees C). Daily variations in the response to NA depended on the season. In summer, the largest increase in T(BAT) (0.45+/-0.1 degrees C) was recorded during the first part of the day, while in autumn-in the middle of the day and night (1.1+/-0.1 degrees C and 0.9+/-0.1 degrees C, respectively). In spring, all NA injections induced large increase in T(BAT) except for the injection in the middle of the night. The largest decrease in PT(a) after NA administration was recorded in autumn (mean decrease by 1.5+/-0.3 degrees C). Both, seasonal and daily changes in the capacity for NST reflect different demands for heat dependently on the time of the year and time of the day. It can be concluded that although long history of breeding in captivity, golden hamsters preserved ability to survive in natural environment.  相似文献

The effects of high hemoglobin-oxygen affinity (HOA) on rectal temperature and lipid free radical oxidation were investigated in red blood cells, heart, liver and kidneys of male rats during fever. Fever was induced by intraperitoneal injection of Salmonella typhi lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 5.0 mg kg(-1)). HOA was increased by addition of 0.5% sodium cyanate to drinking water for eight weeks. HOA modification (actual half-saturation oxygen pressure, P50act, decreased to 23.3+/-0.7 vs. 31.6+/-0.7 Torr in control; p < 0.001) weakened a febrile response: rise of temperature after 4 hours was 0.79+/-0.2 degrees C vs. 1.38+/-0.1 degrees C in rats with normal HOA (p < 0.05). In red cells and tissues of rats with normal HOA, concentrations of conjugated dienes and Schiff bases increased during fever, and alpha-tocopherol level and catalase activity decreased. Rats with increased HOA had an inverse pattern of such changes. Changes in rectal temperature and markers of free radical oxidation correlated with a shift of oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve leftwards. The present results indicate that the intentional increment of HOA may substantially diminish lipid peroxidation activity, increase the body antioxidant content during fever and decrease the febrile response on LPS.  相似文献

Heat debt as an index for cold adaptation in men   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Several types of cold adaptation in men have been described in the literature (metabolic, insulative, hypothermic). The aim of this study is to show that the decrease of heat debt can be considered as a new index for cold adaptation. Ten male subjects were acclimated by water immersions (temperature 10-15 degrees C, 4 immersions/wk over 2 mo). Thermoregulatory responses before and after acclimation were tested by a standard cold test in a climatic chamber for 2 h at rest [dry bulb temperature (Tdb): 10 degrees C; relative humidity (rh): 25%]. After adaptation, four thermoregulatory modifications were observed: an increase in the delay for the onset of shivering (32.7 +/- 7.99 instead of 14.1 +/- 5.25 min); a decrease of body temperature levels for the onset of shivering [rectal temperature (Tre): 37.06 +/- 0.08 instead of 37.31 +/- 0.06 degrees C; mean skin temperature (Tsk): 24.83 +/- 0.56 instead of 26.86 +/- 0.46 degrees C; mean body temperature (Tb): 33.03 +/- 0.20 instead of 34.16 +/- 0.37 degrees C); a lower level of body temperatures in thermoneutrality (Tre = 37.16 +/- 0.08 instead of 37.39 +/- 0.06 degrees C; Tsk = 31.29 +/- 0.21 instead of 32.01 +/- 0.22 degrees C; Tb = 35.92 +/- 0.08 instead of 36.22 +/- 0.05 degrees C); a decrease of heat debt calculated from the difference between heat gains and heat losses (5.66 +/- 0.08 instead of 8.33 +/- 0.38 kJ/kg). The different types of cold adaptation observed are related to the physical characteristics of the subjects (percent body fat content) and the level of physical fitness (VO2max).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Parameters of plasma free fatty acid metabolism (pool size, half time, disappearance rate, turnover time and absolute turnover rate), the influx of plasma free fatty acids into the glycerides of brown adipose tissue and the pathway of triglyceride synthesis in brown adipose tissue (glycerol-1-phosphate versus monoglyceride pathway) were examined after intravenous injection of [1-14C]palmitate in newborn rabbits. In the thermoneutral environment of 35 degrees C the turnover rate of plasma free fatty acids was 10.20 mumol/min per 100 g body weight and its flux into the glycerides of brown adipose tissue 0.367 mumol/min per 100 g body weight. Cold exposure at an ambient temperature of 20 degrees C caused a decrease to 5.84 mumol/min and 0.207 mumol/min per 100 g body weight, respectively. Both under basal conditions at an ambient temperature of 35 degrees C and under cold-induced thermogenesis at an ambient temperature of 20 degrees C triglyceride synthesis in brown adipose tissue ran through the glycerol 1-phosphate pathway.  相似文献

A number of environmental and metabolic stimuli rapidly induce the expression of several highly conserved proteins such as heat shock proteins (HSPs) or stress proteins. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a single bout of submaximal exercise in varying ambient temperatures on cardiac and skeletal muscle. Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly placed in one of three ambient temperature groups; control (23 degrees C), hot (41 degrees C) and cool (11 degrees C). Each exercise bout consisted of treadmill running at 17 m/min and 0% grade. Tissue HSP70 levels for all groups were determined using analysis of variance in two factorial design (2 x 3). Baseline rectal temperature was similar for all three groups. In the control and hot temperature groups, final rectal temperatures differed from the baseline values (p<.05). The rectal temperature from the control/exercise group were 38.5+/-0.3 degrees C at rest and 39.8+/-0.3 degrees C at exhaustion, the hot/exercise group were 38.4+/-0.3 degrees C at rest and 41.2+/-0.9 degrees C at exhaustion and the cool/exercise group were 38.2+/-0.3 degrees C at rest and 38.5+/-0.2 degrees C at exhaustion. The running time was 102.0+/-39.5 min at the control/exercise group, 44.1+/-18.0 min at the hot/exercise group, and 55.4+/-11.9 min at the cool/exercise group. The level of soleus, cardiac and extensor digitorium longus (EDL) HSP70 in cool temperature does not change during a single bout of submaximal exercise. Whereas a single bout of submaximal exercise in hot and control ambient temperatures increases HSP70 accumulation in locomotor muscles, such as the soleus and cardiac, but not in the EDL tissue. This study shows that the changes of HSP70 level induced by a single bout of submaximal exercise at various ambient temperatures (control, hot and cool) depend on the rectal temperature.  相似文献

The overt activity of hepatic carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT1) increased during the last day of gestation in the foetus and after prolonged starvation in the newborn kept at 37 degrees C. Its sensitivity to inhibition by malonyl-CoA decreased during the perinatal period studied. Brown fat CPT1 increased under the same experimental conditions. However, its sensitivity to malonyl-CoA remains unchanged. Hypothermia at 24 degrees C decreased in the liver and increased in brown adipose tissue CPT1 activity in response to fasting. Glucose injection at birth decreased CPT1 activity in the liver but did not have any effect in the presence of mannoheptulose. This effect of glucose was non-significant in brown adipose tissue.  相似文献

This is a study on the effect of cooling and heating amniotic fluid on blood flow to fetal tissues and organs. In 8 unanaesthetized, chronically-catheterised fetal sheep (129-137 days gestation) cold or warm water was passed through tubing encircling the fetus in utero and blood flow was measured using the radionuclide-labelled 15 mu spheres. Following cooling for 30 min, amniotic fluid temperature fell 9.6 degrees C to 29.9 +/- 2.1 degrees C (SEM) fetal arterial temperature fell 2.37 degrees C to 37.30 +/- 0.36, and maternal arterial temperature fell 0.53 degrees C to 38.58 +/- 0.16. Blood flow through the fetal skin fell 60% (P less than 0.01) to 13.6 ml/min per 100 g tissue. Blood flow to the brown fat increased 186% (P less than 0.05) to 99.6 ml/min per 100 g. Following warming for 20 min, fetal temperature rose to 40.43 +/- 0.19 degrees C, and skin blood flow did not change significantly relative to initial control period but rose 200% above that during cooling (P less than 0.01). During both cooling and heating, blood flow to the adrenals rose significantly (P less than 0.05) whereas flow to the carcass, brain, kidneys, and placenta was not altered detectably. Continuous sampling of blood from the inferior vena cava during microsphere injection failed to detect any evidence of arterio-venous shunting through the skin at any temperature studied. Overall, the blood flow responses are consistent with a thermoregulatory role for the skin and brown fat in the near-term fetal sheep.  相似文献

In cold defense and fever, activity increases in sympathetic nerves supplying both tail vessels and interscapular brown adipose tissue (iBAT). These mediate cutaneous vasoconstrictor and thermogenic responses, respectively, and both depend upon neurons in the rostral medullary raphé. To examine the commonality of brain circuits driving these two outflows, sympathetic nerve activity (SNA) was recorded simultaneously from sympathetic fibers in the ventral tail artery (tail SNA) and the nerve to iBAT (iBAT SNA) in urethane-anesthetized rats. From a warm baseline, cold-defense responses were evoked by intermittently circulating cold water through a water jacket around the animal's shaved trunk. Repeated episodes of trunk skin cooling decreased core (rectal) temperature. The threshold skin temperature to activate iBAT SNA was 37.3 +/- 0.5 degrees C (n = 7), significantly lower than that to activate tail SNA (40.1 +/- 0.4 degrees C; P < 0.01, n = 7). A fall in core temperature always strongly activated tail SNA (threshold 38.3 +/- 0.2 degrees C, n = 7), but its effect on iBAT SNA was absent (2 of 7 rats) or weak (threshold 36.9 +/- 0.1 degrees C, n = 5). The relative sensitivity to core vs. skin cooling (K-ratio) was significantly greater for tail SNA than for iBAT SNA. Spectral analysis of paired recordings showed significant coherence between tail SNA and iBAT SNA only at 1.0 +/- 0.1 Hz. The coherence was due entirely to the modulation of both signals by the ventilatory cycle because it disappeared when the coherence spectrum was partialized with respect to airway pressure. These findings indicate that independent central pathways drive cutaneous vasoconstrictor and thermogenic sympathetic pathways during cold defense.  相似文献

Delta 9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (20 mg/kg i.p.) and propranolol (20 and 50 mg/kg i.p.) produced marked falls in the rectal temperatures of mice kept at an ambient temperature of 22 degrees C. Propranolol (50 mg/kg i.p.) also decreased the thermogenic activity of brown fat, as measured by a decrease in the level of [3H]GDP binding to mitochondria obtained from mouse interscapular brown adipose tissue. In contrast, delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (20 mg/kg i.p.) did not affect mitochondrial GDP binding even though the dose used was one shown previously to depress heat production. GDP binding was also unaffected by this cannabinoid in brown adipose tissue taken from mice that had been kept at 13 degrees C instead of 22 degrees C. In mice kept at 34 degrees C, isoprenaline (0.25 and 1.0 mg/kg s.c.) induced a marked rise in rectal temperature and increased the level of GDP binding to brown fat mitochondria. Propranolol (50 mg/kg i.p.) prevented the hyperthermic response to isoprenaline, the mice becoming hypothermic instead. Delta 9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (20 mg/kg i.p.) had no effect on isoprenaline-induced hyperthermia. We conclude from these data that there is no significant involvement of brown adipose tissue in the hypothermic response of mice to delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol.  相似文献

Intraperitoneal injection of prostaglandin E1 (PGE) produces a transient hypothermia in rats that lasts 1-2 h. Rats exposed to an ambient temperature (Ta) of 26 degrees C displayed a decrease in rectal temperature (Tre) of 0.95 +/- 0.12 degrees C (SE) after injection with PGE (100 micrograms/kg ip). Hypothermia was produced mainly by heat losses, as indicated by increases in tail blood flow. At Ta of 4 degrees C, PGE produced a comparable fall in Tre of 1.00 +/- 0.14 degrees C. However, in the cold the hypothermia was caused solely by decreases in heat production. These results indicate that the PGE-induced hypothermia is not the result of a peripheral vasodilation induced by the direct action of PGE on the tail vascular smooth muscle but is a central nervous system-mediated response of the thermoregulatory system induced by PGE within the peritoneal cavity. Capsaicin injected subcutaneously induces a transient hypothermia in rats because of stimulation of the warm receptors. If administered peripherally in sufficient amounts, it is reputed to impair peripheral warm receptors so that they become desensitized to the hypothermic effects of capsaicin. We measured PGE-induced hypothermias in rats both before and after capsaicin desensitization at Ta of 26 degrees C. Before desensitization the hypothermia was -1.14 +/- 0.12 degrees C, whereas after capsaicin treatment the PGE-induced hypothermia was -0.34 +/- 0.17 degrees C. The biological effects of capsaicin are diverse; however, based on current thinking about the thermoregulatory effects of capsaicin desensitization, our results indicate that peripheral warm receptor pathways are in some manner implicated in the hypothermia induced by intraperitoneal PGE.  相似文献

Effects of dystocia on rectal temperature and serum cortisol and glucose concentrations, were studied in neonatal calves exposed to 0 degree C. Primiparous dams were observed continuously during parturition and if Stage II (labor) was not completed within 2 h after appearance of the allantochorion, delivery was completed with obstetrical assistance. Parturitions were scored (CDS) for difficulty and obstetric assistance required: CDS 1, no assistance (n = 8); CDS 2, minor manual assistance (n = 7); CDS 3, use of a mechanical calf puller (n = 5); CDS 4, cesarean section (n = 6). A blood sample, rectal temperature, and body weight were obtained within 30 min after birth. Calves were then fed 38 degrees C pooled colostrum, muzzled to prevent suckling, and placed back with their dam in a heated (22 degrees C) barn. At 4 h of age an indwelling jugular catheter was inserted. At 5 h of age calves were placed in a 0 degree C room for 140 min and blood samples and rectal temperatures were obtained every 10 or 20 min. A shivering score (1 = no shivering; 2 = moderate shivering; 3 = intense shivering) was assigned at each sampling time. Rectal temperatures were higher (P < 0.01) in CDS 1, 2 and 4 calves (39.0, 39.3, and 39.0 +/- .02 degrees C, respectively) than in calves with CDS 3 (38.3 +/- 0.02 degrees C) and were affected by duration of cold exposure (time; P < 0.01). Shivering was not affected by CDS but was affected by time (P < 0.01). Glucose concentrations were higher (P < 0.01) in CDS 3 calves (110.1 +/- 1.6 mg/dL) than in CDS 1, 2, or 4 calves (77.2, 86.4, and 89.0 +/- 1.3 mg/dL, respectively) and changed over time (P < 0.01). Cortisol concentrations were higher in CDS 1 calves (80.0 +/- 1.7 ng/mL) than in CDS 2, 3 or 4 calves (62.7, 58.2, and 57.7 +/- 2.0 ng/mL, respectively) and were affected by time (P < 0.01). We conclude that severe dystocia (CDS 3) resulted in lower calf rectal temperature, reduced serum cortisol, and increased serum glucose which could affect the ability of the calf to withstand cold stress. Minor dystocia did not cause and timely cesarean delivery prevented, the physiological aberrations encountered in severe dystocia.  相似文献
