The risk of an enhanced level of radionuclides of the uranium and thorium decay series in the environment for reference plant species (Pinus sylvestris and Vicia cracca) was assessed. 238U, 230Th, 226Ra, 210Po, 232Th and 228Th concentration factors for plants were found to be lower than one. The aboveground parts of Vicia cracca sampled from the area of the radium production waste storage mainly accumulated 22Ra, Pinus sylvestris branches--210Pb, 226Ra and 210Po. LOEDR calculated for the chromosome aberration frequency in both plant studies was 17-71 microGy/h. LOERD values for the reproductive capacity decrease in P. sylvestris and V. cracca were 17-71 microGy/h and 116-258 microGy/h, correspondingly. EDR10 for the chromosome aberration frequency in P. sylvestris and V. cracca were 148 and 347 microGy/h, that is, correspondingly, 255 and 708 times higher that background values. EDR10 for the plant reproductive capacity was 11-34 microGy/h, which 19-69 times increases the background values.  相似文献

The radiation exposure on cenopopulations Vicea cracca L. growing on the territory contaminated with the wastes of radium production was estimated. The relationship between the chromosome aberration in seedlings root tip cells and irradiation dose was found to be linear. The significant cytogenetic effects in chronically irradiated Vicia cracca cenopopulation are observed at doses (equal to 0.006-0.7 Gy) 10 times upward the natural radiation background level. The reduced reproductive success (significantly increased embryonic lethal mutation level) is observed at weighted absorbed doses (equal to 0.2-0.7 Gy) up to 200-700 times higher than the natural radiation background level. It is showh, that the radiation hygienic standards of permissible exposure are noticeably stricter that the radioecological limits.  相似文献

Dose rates cause no adverse effects on natural populations of Pinus sylvestris L. and Vicia cracca L. inhabiting territories contaminated by uranium mill tailings and radium production wastes (Vodny settlement, Komi Republic) were determined. A significant increase in embryonic lethal mutation frequency in V. cracca legumes and decrease in seedlings survival rate as compared with control values were registered at dose rate equal to 1.67 mGy/day, that is 280 times higher than the one calculated for the reference site. The adverse effects in P. sylvestris expressed in increased frequency of chromosome aberrations in meristematic root tips and decreased reproductive capacity of seeds were determined at absorbed dose rate equal to 0.083 mGy/day. Data obtained show that the decrease in plant reproductive capacity in case of chronic exposure of radionuclides of uranium and thorium decay series can observe at lower weighted absorbed dose rates than in case of environmental contamination by artificial radionuclides.  相似文献

Genetic monitoring of natural Drosophila melanogaster populations inhabiting regions of Belarus with different radiation background (Vetka and Svetilovichi villages), radonuclide-contaminated after the Chernobyl accident, compared with populations from the Berezinsky biosphere reserve (the control area) were conducted. The dominant and recessive lethal mutation levels and genetic structure of the populations were analyzed for frequencies of F- and S-alleles of Adh (alcohol dehydrogenase) of Gpdh (glycerinophosphate dehydrogenase) and Sod (superoxide dismutase) loci. Populations inhabiting the regions with high radiation background exhibited higher frequency of lethal mutations and higher heterozygosity than those from the control area. Moreover, higher frequency of polymorphous Sod locus S-allele was detected in these populations. Apparently, Sod S-alleles are more adaptively valuable under conditions of high radiation background, because as is known, superoxide dismutase is an effective radioprotector at all levels molecular, cellular and organism. Adaptation of populations to stress impacts was analyzed, since 1998. Nonspecific adaptation of natural Drosophila melanogaster populations from Vetka and Svetilovichi villages of Gomel region was reveled. They are higher adapted than the control population from the Berezinsky biosphere reserve to both ionizing radiation effect and to chemical mutagen EMS. After laboratory cultivation within 6-8 generations without irradiation adaptation to radiation in the population from radiocontaminated regions remained. The content of samples from the control natural drosophila population in the laboratory conditions is an environmental stress that led to the formation of nonspecific adaptation within 6-8 generations to unfavorable factors, including ionizing radiation. It should be taken into account that the population adaptation is formed via death of sensitive genotypes at various ontogenesis stages.  相似文献

通过盆栽试验研究了13种杂草在模拟铅污染土壤中的菌根形成及对铅的吸收累积特点。结果表明铅污染对杂草的生长没有明显影响。铅污染土壤中杂草的菌根侵染状况发生了显著变化,与无污染的土壤相比,苦荬菜(Ixerischinensis)、早熟禾(Poaannua)、黑麦草(Loliumperenne)、野燕麦(Avenafatua)、野豌豆(Viciacracca)、白车轴草(Trifoliumrepens)的菌根侵染率下降,而无芒稗(Echinochloacrusgallivar.mitis)、北美车前(Plantagovirginica)、鼠曲草(Gnaphaliumaffine)和酢浆草(Oxaliscorniculata)的菌根侵染率上升,鸡眼草(Kummerowiastriata)、升马唐(Digitariaciliaris)和婆婆纳(Veronicadidyma)无明显变化;土壤中的孢子数除了鸡眼草、野豌豆、白车轴草和酢浆草无显著差异外,其余物种在铅污染土壤中的孢子数量与对照相比明显下降。不同的杂草物种对土壤铅的吸收和积累存在明显差异,被杂草吸收的铅主要积累在杂草根系内,向杂草地上部转移的铅比率不高。  相似文献

Abstract:  In order to establish the host range of the pea aphid subspecies, Acyrthosiphon pisum ssp. destructor , and hence from which plant species pea crops are likely to become infested, the performance of this aphid on different leguminous plants was assessed. The plant species used were: Lotus uliginosus , Medicago sativa , Melilotus officinalis , Ononis repens , Sarothamnus scoparius , Trifolium hybridum , Trifolium pratense , Trifolium repens , Vicia cracca and Vicia faba . Vicia faba and Trifolium hybridum were the plants on which aphids reached the greatest size, took the least time to reach maturity, and experienced the lowest mortality. The time taken for the aphids to develop to maturity was negatively correlated with adult size, whereas survival to maturity was positively correlated with adult size. The host preference of the aphids was also assessed. The plant species selected as hosts by alatae were those on which their offspring performed best.  相似文献

Cyanamide (NH2CN) has recently been proven to be a natural product, although it has been synthesized for over 100 years for agricultural and industrial purposes. The distribution of natural cyanamide appears to be limited, as indicated by our previous investigation of 101 weed species. In the present study, to investigate the distribution of natural cyanamide in Vicia species, we monitored the cyanamide contents in V. villosa subsp. varia, V. cracca, and V. amoena during their pre-flowering and flowering seasons. It was confirmed that V. cracca was superior to V. villosa subsp. varia in accumulating natural cyanamide, and that V. amoena was unable to biosynthesize this compound under laboratory condition examined. The localization of cyanamide in the leaves of V. villosa subsp. varia seedlings was also clarified. In a screening study to find cyanamide-biosynthesizing plants, only Robinia pseudo-acacia was found to contain cyanamide among 452 species of higher plants. We have investigated 553 species to date, but have so far found the ability to biosynthesize cyanamide in only three species, V. villosa subsp. varia, V. cracca and R. pseudo-acacia.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR, or electron paramagnetic resonance, EPR) analysis of tooth enamel is an effective method for the retrospective estimation of individual radiation doses. One problem with this technique is that the observed ESR signal may include a contribution from ultraviolet (UV) light exposure from sunlight, especially in front teeth. Thus there has been a need to find ways to estimate the UV-light effect in the total signal so that the net ESR dose from ionizing radiation can be determined. To examine this issue, we measured 96 teeth of various types, but with buccal and lingual parts measured separately, from a control group of atomic bomb survivors (estimated dose <5 mGy). We found that, except for molars, the mean ESR-estimated dose for the buccal halves was, on average, nearly twice that from the lingual side, which indicates that the UV-light-induced lingual dose equals the difference between the two halves. Using these corrections for UV-light exposure to front teeth that had been exposed to both ionizing radiation and UV light, it was found that the estimated radiation doses closely approximated the previously estimated ESR dose to molars from the same donors or the estimated dose arrived at with cytogenetic methods. We concluded that, when using ESR to estimate radiation dose, measuring molars is the first choice, but if only front teeth are available, separate measurements to the buccal and lingual parts can provide an estimation of the mean UV-light contribution to the ESR-determined dose.  相似文献

We quantified the cyanamide content of young leaves of nine Vicia species, Lens culinaris, and Robinia pseudo-acacia using a modified analytical procedure that made it possible to measure the cyanamide content of a single leaf. Recent molecular phylogenetic analysis suggests that cyanamide is present in V. benghalensis, which is placed in a monophyletic group with cyanamide-biosynthesizing plants, V. villosa and V. cracca; this suggestion was verified.  相似文献

喀斯特地区土壤的高钙含量是影响该地区植物生理特征的最重要环境因素之一。高钙影响植物的光合作用、生长速率及磷代谢, 从而限制了许多物种在该地区的分布。选取贵州4个石漠化程度不同的地区, 测定采集地内45种优势种或常见种的地上部分和地下部分的全钙含量以及土壤的交换性钙含量。通过分析喀斯特地区植物与土壤钙含量的特征发现: 喀斯特地区植物具有较高的钙含量平均值; 土壤交换性钙含量对植物地上部分钙含量的影响总体上不显著, 对植物地下部分钙含量的影响显著; 不同类别植物的钙含量存在显著差异, 蕨类植物地上部分钙含量平均值明显低于被子植物; 不同类别植物钙的分布部位也存在显著差异, 在蕨类植物和单子叶植物中地上部分和地下部分的钙含量相近, 而双子叶植物的地上部分钙含量明显高于地下部分。分析了喀斯特地区14种优势灌木和草本植物地上部分与地下部分钙含量的差异性以及与土壤交换性钙含量的相关关系, 以此为根据将14种优势植物对土壤高钙的适应方式分为3种类型: 随遇型、高钙型和低钙型。随遇型植物的钙含量主要受土壤交换性钙含量影响, 其地上部分和地下部分的钙含量均与土壤交换性钙含量成显著正相关关系; 高钙型植物具有较强的钙富集能力, 其地上部分即使在低钙含量的土壤中也可维持较高的钙含量; 低钙型植物的地上部分即使在高钙含量的土壤中亦可维持较低的钙含量。对植物适应钙的不同方式的研究可用于筛选退化生态系统恢复所需的植物资源。  相似文献

Differences as well as similarities in the action of ionizing radiation and deoxyribonucleic acids from various sources on mitosis in root cells ofVicia faba were established. The time course of occurrence of aberrations were examined. Whereas in irradiated broad beant the maximum percentage of aberrations was observed immediately after irradiation, the aps plication of non-isologous DNA was followed by maximum aberrations after 8–16 hours. As all the time-intervals studied, an incraasad number of aberrations was found during metaphase-as compared with anaphases, both after irradiation and after application of DNA. A comparison of isologous, homologous and heterologous DNA as inductors of chromosomal aberrations supported our previous findings and showed that the efficiency of DNA depends on the genetic difference between donor and acceptor. During a study of distribution of aberrations between large and small chromosomes of meristematic cells ofVicia faba, at various time-intervals it was obsarved that after irradiation the distribution of aberrations between individual chromosomes is proportional to their total length, whereas the effect of heterologous DNA is mostly in the damage to small chromosomes. It was also found that aftar irradiation mostly chromatid aberrations are formed at shorter time-intervals and only later chromosomal aberrations will appear. On the other hand, heterologous DNA brings about in all time-intervals a predominance of chromatid aberrations.  相似文献

The rate of radiation damage to chromosomes by low doses of gamma rays (0.01-0.30 Gy) was studied in the root tips ofVicia faba. As criteria of the effect of ionizing radiation, the frequency of sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs), incidence of chromosomal aberrations and the number of micronuclei were evaluated and compared in irradiated cells. The results obtained confirmed that the analysis of SCEs did not represent an efficient indicator of radiation damage to chromosomes. On the contrary, the formation of chromosomal aberrations and micronuclei was effectively stimulated by low radiation doses, there being linear dose-effect relationships in the low doses region used.  相似文献

Summary A simple theoretical model is proposed for estimating the differential contribution of ionization and excitation to the lethal effect of ionizing radiation. Numerical results were obtained on the basis of published experimental data on the ability of bacterial cellsEscherichia coli to undergo photoreactivation of radiation-induced damage. It was shown that inactivation by excitation may be highly significant for UV-hypersensitive cells capable of photoreactivation; inactivation by excitation increased with the energy of ionizing radiation and the volume of irradiated suspensions. The data are in qualitative agreement with the assumption of a possible contribution of the UV-component of erenkov radiation to the formation of excitations responsible for the lethal effect and the phenomenon of photoreactivation after ionizing radiation. Although no statistically significant hereditary effects have yet been detected in the children of survivors from the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, recent animal studies have found that exposure to ionizing radiation can cause genomic and epigenomic instability in the exposed individuals, as well as their offspring, and therefore, may have much larger genetic effects than predicted by earlier studies. When individuals are exposed to various environmental insults, including radiation, individual sensitivity to the insults often varies. Variance in germ-line response to radiation among individuals has been widely recognized, but it is difficult to address due to the use of inbred strains and the limited number of offspring that can be produced by a pair of mice, the common model used to study genetic effects of radiation. Herein is the first study to examine individual family responses to ionizing radiation using a parent-pedigree approach in an outbred strain of a vertebrate model, the Japanese medaka fish. Changes in frequencies of radiation-induced germline mutations at nine microsatellite loci were examined in the same families before and after exposure to one of four acute doses of ionizing radiation (0.1, 0.5, 2.5, 5Gy, plus sham-exposed controls). Families varied significantly in pre-exposure mutation frequencies and responses to irradiation, but germline mutations were elevated in at least one family after 0.1, 0.5, and 5Gy exposures. Variance among individuals in sensitivity to radiation is well documented for many endpoints, and our work now extends these endpoints to include germ-line mutations. Further studies are needed to elucidate dose response, effects at varying stages of spermatogenesis, and the mechanisms underlying the variance in these individual responses to radiation.  相似文献

The dichlorofluorescein method has become a standard technique for measuring reactive oxygen species (ROS) formed in cells by ionizing radiation. A recent report (Korystov et al., Radiat. Res. 168, 226-232, 2007) has suggested that the method is subject to an artifact in that it erroneously reports hydrogen peroxides generated in the extracellular medium as ROS formed intracellularly by ionizing radiation. It was hypothesized that radiation-induced extracellular peroxides enter cells in the minutes after radiation exposure and subsequently oxidize the intracellular dichlorofluorescin probe and that dichlorofluorescein fluorescence is not due to ROS formed intracellularly by ionizing radiation. We tested this hypothesis by measuring the contribution of long-lived radicals formed in medium by ionizing radiation on intracellular dichlorofluorescein fluorescence. We found no evidence that this artifact contributes significantly to intracellular dichlorofluorescein fluorescence. These results and those of Korystov et al. are discussed in view of cellular dichlorofluorescin leakage and radiation chemistry. We conclude that the dichlorofluorescein method is effective for quantifying intracellular ROS induced by ionizing radiation.  相似文献
