The Yellow River Delta wetland, located at the southern coast of Bohai Gulf, provides important ecosystem services such as flood control, water purification, biodiversity conservation, nutrient removal and carbon sequestration, shoreline stabilization, tourism attraction and wetland products maintains in the Yellow River Delta. This study assessed how agricultural activities in a reclamation wetland changed soil pH, soil electric conductivity, soil nutrient and soil particle size as compared to natural vegetation by using a combination of field experiments and lab analysis. The vegetation type included adjacent alfalfa field (Medicago sativa), cotton field (Gossypium spp.), Chinese tamarisk shrub (Tamarix chinensis), and reed marsh (Phragmites sage). The results indicated that the soil pH was higher (pH > 8) in alfalfa field and cotton field, and alfalfa field and reed marsh had significant function in reducing soil salt content, soil electric conductivity of alfalfa field at 0–30 cm were 140.38 ± 14.36, 114.48 ± 14.36, 125.30 ± 11.37 μs/cm. The effect of different vegetation types on soil nutrient was significant (P < 0.05). Soil organic matter at 0–10 cm in Chinese tamarisk shrub and reed marsh was 21.66 ± 3.82 g/kg and 16.51 ± 4.60 g/kg, which was higher than that of alfalfa field (10.47 ± 2.36 g/kg) and cotton field (9.82 ± 1.27 g/kg), but soil total nitrogen content in alfalfa field was the highest, which is significantly higher than that of cotton field, Chinese tamarisk shrub and reed marsh(P < 0.05), the content of soil total nitrogen at 0–10 cm and 10–20 cm was 7.67 ± 0.38 g/kg and 5.97 ± 0.51 g/kg, respectively, while the content of available P and available K was reversed. The difference of soil particle size between layers was not significant (P > 0.05), the sand content of Chinese tamarisk shrub soils in 0–10 cm was the highest, the next was alfalfa field and cotton field, and the content of silt and clay in reed marsh was higher than the others. The correlation and significant degree between soil particle size and soil nutrient was related with vegetation types, and soil organic matter was significantly positively correlated with soil silt and clay content on the alfalfa field. The results demonstrated that wetland cultivation was one of the most important factors influencing on the nutrient fate and reserves in soil, which could lead to rapid nutrient release and slow restoration through abandon cultivation. Consequently, compared with cotton field, alfalfa field is more favorable to sustainable management of wetland cultivation in the Yellow River Delta. It should be considered in wetland restoration projects planning.  相似文献

Temperate wetlands in the Northern Hemisphere have high long-term carbon sequestration rates, and play critical roles in mitigating regional and global atmospheric CO2 increases at the century timescale. We measured soil organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) from 11 typical freshwater wetlands (Heilongjiang Province) and one saline wetland (Jilin Province) in Northeast China, and estimated carbon sequestration rates using 210Pb and 137Cs dating technology. Effects of climate, net primary productivity, and nutrient availability on carbon sequestration rates (Rcarbon) were also evaluated. Chronological results showed that surface soil within the 0–40 cm depth formed during the past 70–205 years. Soil accretion rates ranged from 2.20 to 5.83 mm yr−1, with an average of 3.84 ± 1.25 mm yr−1 (mean ± SD). Rcarbon ranged from 61.60 to 318.5 gC m−2 yr−1 and was significantly different among wetland types. Average Rcarbon was 202.7 gC m−2 yr−1 in the freshwater wetlands and 61.6 gC m−2 yr−1 in the saline marsh. About 1.04 × 108 tons of carbon was estimated to be captured by temperate wetland soils annually in Heilongjiang Province (in the scope of 45.381–51.085°N, 125.132–132.324°E). Correlation analysis showed little impact of net primary productivity (NPP) and soil nutrient contents on Rcarbon, whereas climate, specifically the combined dynamics of temperature and precipitation, was the predominant factor affecting Rcarbon. The negative relationship observed between Rcarbon and annual mean temperature (T) indicates that warming in Northeast China could reduce Rcarbon. Significant positive relationships were observed between annual precipitation (P), the hydrothermal coefficient (defined as P/AT, where AT was accumulative temperature ≥10 °C), and Rcarbon, indicating that a cold, humid climate would enhance Rcarbon. Current climate change in Northeast China, characterized by warming and drought, may form positive feedbacks with Rcarbon in temperate wetlands and accelerate carbon loss from wetland soils.  相似文献

Seasonal dynamics of concentrations of reserve carbohydrates (starch, sucrose, glucose, fructose and their sum denoted as total non-structural carbohydrates, TNC) were followed in five reed stands of Kis-Balaton wetland area in Hungary. The stands included three stands of tall and robust reed, situated in the Ingói area, and two stands of short and subtle reed situated in the downstream part. While both the seasonal pattern and the proportions of single carbohydrate species corresponded to findings for other sites, the absolute concentrations were markedly lower as compared to other European reed stands except lake Fertö in Hungary. The seasonal minimum values ranged from 54 to 87 mg g−1 dry weight. During the seasonal minimum, glucose reached the lowest concentrations (down to 0.01 mg g−1 dry weight) of all carbohydrates measured. The seasonal maximum concentrations of TNC reached 160–270 mg g−1 dry weight. Maximum TNC standing stock ranged from 240 to 520 g m−2, and was depleted by 60–80% during the period of spring shoot growth. It is proposed that the remaining TNC pool may not suffice to support complete recovery after a subsequent catastrophic event.  相似文献

Pot experiments were performed to evaluate the phytoremediation capacity of plants of Atriplex halimus grown in contaminated mine soils and to investigate the effects of organic amendments on the metal bioavailability and uptake of these metals by plants. Soil samples collected from abandoned mine sites north of Madrid (Spain) were mixed with 0, 30 and 60 Mg ha−1 of two organic amendments, with different pH and nutrients content: pine-bark compost and horse- and sheep-manure compost. The increasing soil organic matter content and pH by the application of manure amendment reduced metal bioavailability in soil stabilising them. The proportion of Cu in the most bioavailable fractions (sum of the water-soluble, exchangeable, acid-soluble and Fe–Mn oxides fractions) decreased with the addition of 60 Mg ha−1 of manure from 62% to 52% in one of the soils studied and from 50% to 30% in the other. This amendment also reduced Zn proportion in water-soluble and exchangeable fractions from 17% to 13% in one of the soils. Manure decreased metal concentrations in shoots of A. halimus, from 97 to 35 mg kg−1 of Cu, from 211 to 98 mg kg−1 of Zn and from 1.4 to 0.6 mg kg−1 of Cd. In these treatments there was a higher plant growth due to the lower metal toxicity and the improvement of nutrients content in soil. This higher growth resulted in a higher total metal accumulation in plant biomass and therefore in a greater amount of metals removed from soil, so manure could be useful for phytoextraction purposes. This amendment increased metal accumulation in shoots from 37 to 138 mg pot−1 of Cu, from 299 to 445 mg pot−1 of Zn and from 1.8 to 3.7 mg pot−1 of Cd. Pine bark amendment did not significantly alter metal availability and its uptake by plants. Plants of A. halimus managed to reduce total Zn concentration in one of the soils from 146 to 130 mg kg−1, but its phytoextraction capacity was insufficient to remediate contaminated soils in the short-to-medium term. However, A. halimus could be, in combination with manure amendment, appropriate for the phytostabilization of metals in mine soils.  相似文献

Phosphorus (P) release from wetland soils to overlying waters is important to consider when restoring wetland hydrology. Soil physicochemical characteristics influence P dynamics between underlying soil and overlying water. Our study initially characterized wetland and surrounding upland soils prior to flooding. Deep marsh wetland soils had greater moisture content, soil organic matter, nitrogen (N), P, and lower bulk density than surrounding upland pasture soils, which indicates a nutrient concentration gradient between wetland and upland soils. To determine the short-term P dynamics between soils and overlying water, we conducted four laboratory soil water core studies during a 15-month period. Surface soils (0-10 cm) collected October 2005, February 2006, October 2006 and December 2006 from wetlands and their surrounding uplands within cow-calf grazed pastures were flooded for 7 days, and we measured P release from soil to overlying water. Phosphorus release rates from wetland (deep marsh and shallow marsh) and upland soils were similar. Values ranged between ?20 mg m?2 d?1 (retention) and 77 mg m?2 d?1 (release). There was a significant, although weak, negative linear relationship between P release from deep marsh soils and hydroperiod. Thus, it may be important for land managers to consider increasing hydroperiod of wetland soils to decrease P release and increase retention. In addition, there was a significant negative exponential relationship between P release and days since deep marsh soil inundation. This suggests that to decrease P release from soils, soils should be wet rather than dry for prolonged periods, prior to flooding. We found significant relationships between P release from upland soils and their nutrient content (N, P and carbon). Reducing nutrient content in upland soils may help reduce the magnitude of P release from soil.  相似文献

Fenitrothion, a toxic organophosphorus pesticide, can build up the concentration of nitrophenolic compound in soils and hence needs to be removed. Burkholderia sp. FDS-1, a fenitrothion-degrading strain, was used in this work to study factors affecting its growth, and then evaluated for its capacity to degrade fenitrothion in soil microcosms. Minimal salt medium containing 1% (w/v) glucose was found to be a suitable carbon source for inoculum preparation. Various factors, including soil pH, temperature, initial fenitrothion concentration, and inoculum size influenced the degradation of fenitrothion. Microcosm studies performed with varying concentrations (1–200 mg kg−1) of fenitrothion-spiked soils showed that strain FDS-1 could effectively degrade fenitrothion in the range of 1–50 mg kg−1 soil. The addition of Burkholderia sp. FDS-1 at 2×106 colony forming units g−1 soil was found to be suitable for fenitrothion degradation over a temperature range of 20–40 °C and at a slight alkaline pH (7.5). The results indicate that strain FDS-1 has potential for use in bioremediation of fenitrothion and its metabolite-contaminated sites. This is a model study that could be used for decontamination of sites contaminated with other compounds.  相似文献

We reported the Australian golden wattle as a copper stabilizer in abandoned copper mine soils earlier. Here we investigate to confirm this plant’s suitability to grow on metal contaminated mine soils based on stress indication. The seeds of Acacia pycnantha collected from mining area were germinated after heat and no heat treatment on two types of irrigation. The daily irrigated and heat treated seeds gave up to 85% germination on sandy soil. The A. pycnantha was grown under greenhouse condition in six different soils collected from abandoned copper mine at Kapunda in South Australia. Among the six soil samples, soil-1 with the highest copper concentration produced 2.05 mmol g−1 tissue of proline. Proline expression was prominent in more saline soils (1, 5 and 6) having electrical conductivity (EC) 1184, 1364 and 1256 μS, respectively. Chlorophyll a, b and carotenoid levels in plants showed a gradually decreasing trend in all the soils as experiment progressed. The plants grown on soil sample-1, containing 4083 ± 103 mg kg−1 of copper resulted in 18 ± 2 mg kg−1 accumulation in its leaf. The calcium accumulation was significant up to 11648 ± 1209 mg kg−1 in leaf. Although pore water samples showed higher Cu concentration in soils, an increased mobility of arsenic and lead was observed in all the soil samples. Our experiment points out the need for proper monitoring of revegetation processes to avoid revegetation and reclamation failure.  相似文献

Soil respiration is the main form of carbon flux from soil to atmosphere in the global carbon cycle. The effect of temperature on soil respiration rate is important in evaluating the potential feedback of soil organic carbon to global warming. We incubated soils from the alpine meadow zone and upper rocky zone along an altitudinal gradient (4400–5500 m a.s.l.) on the Tibetan Plateau under various temperature and soil moisture conditions. We evaluated the potential effects of temperature and soil moisture on soil respiration and its variation across altitudes. Soil respiration rates increased as the temperature increased. At 60% of soil water content, they averaged 0.21–5.33 μmol g soil−1 day−1 in the alpine meadow zone and 0.11–0.50 μmol g soil−1 day−1 in the rocky zone over the experimental temperature range. Soil respiration rates in the rocky zone did not increase between 25 and 35 °C, probably because of heat stress. Rates of decomposition of organic matter were high in the rocky zone, where the CN ratio was smaller than in the middle altitudes. Soil respiration rates also increased with increasing soil water content from 10% to 80% at 15 °C, averaging 0.04–2.00 μmol g soil−1 day−1 in the alpine meadow zone and 0.03–0.35 μmol g soil−1 day−1 in the rocky zone. Maximum respiration rates were obtained in the middle part of the alpine slope in any case of experimental temperature and soil moisture. The change patterns in soil respiration rate along altitude showed similar change pattern in soil carbon content. Although the altitude is a variable including various environmental factors, it might be used as a surrogate parameter of soil carbon content in alpine zone. Results suggest that temperature, soil moisture and altitude are used as appropriate environmental indicators for estimating the spatial distribution of potential soil respiration in alpine zone.  相似文献

There is a major need to understand the historical condition and chemical/biological functions of the ecosystems following a conversion of wetlands to agricultural functions. To better understand the dynamics of soil total organic carbon (TOC) and phosphorus (P) during beef cattle pastures to wetland reconversion, soil core samples were collected from the beef cattle pasture and from the natural wetland at Plant City, FL, during five summer seasons (2002–2007). The levels of TOC and soil P were significantly affected by changing land use and hydrology. Draining natural wetlands to grazed pastures resulted in very pronounced reduction of TOC from 180.1 to 5.4 g g?1. Cumulative concentrations of total phosphorus (TP) in soils (1134 mg kg?1) under drained condition are two to three times lower than those in soils (2752 mg kg?1) under flooded condition over the periods of land use reconversion. There was a declining trend (r = 0.82**; p  0.01) in total soil P from natural wetland (763 mg kg?1) to altered pastures (340 mg kg?1), largely as organic-bound P (natural wetland, 48%; grazed pastures, 44%; altered pastures, 29%). These results are important in establishing baseline information on soil properties in pasture and wetland prior to restoring and reconverting pasture back to wetland conditions. The results further suggest that changes in soil properties due to changing land use and hydrologic conditions (drying and re-wetting) could be long lasting.  相似文献

Seed bank samples were collected from Huli Marsh, a subtropical shallow water mountainous marsh in Hunan Province, South China. Core samples were divided into upper and lower layers (each 5 cm in depth) and allowed to germinate in three water levels (0, 5 and 10 cm) over a 4-month period. A total of 51 species germinated and the mean density was 9211 ± 7188 seedlings m−2. In the top 5 cm 41 species and 5747 ± 5111 seedlings m−2 germinated, whereas 40 species and 3464 ± 3363 seedlings m−2 did so from 5–10 cm. Germinated seedling density was significantly higher in the upper layer, largely due to differences in eight species. With increasing experimental water depth, less seedlings germinated: respectively, 9788 ± 7157 m−2, 2050 ± 2412 m−2 and 1978 ± 2616 m−2, of 44, 21 and 19 species, submerged under 0, 5 or 10 cm. Seven species could emerge only in 0 water level. Vallisneria natans occurred only in 5 cm water, whereas Ottelia alismoides occurred in 10 cm water. In the vegetation survey of the marsh, 25 species were recorded, which was less than half of the species recorded in the seed bank. The top 10 dominants in the standing vegetation, accounting for 89% of vegetation abundance, represented only 10% in the seed bank. Twenty germinated species that also occurred in the standing vegetation accounted for 56% of the total seed bank. Our observed number of species germinating from a Chinese wetland seed bank is within the range observed elsewhere in the northern hemisphere (15–113 species).  相似文献

Decomposition processes were investigated in the soil of a declining, more eutrophic and a healthy, less eutrophic freshwater reed (Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. ex Steudel) stand in the littoral zone of Rožmberk fishpond, Czech Republic. Soil and pore water were sampled five times from April to October 1998. Chemical properties, CO2 production in oxic and anoxic conditions, CH4 production, denitrifying enzyme activity (DEA) and bacterial biomass were measured under laboratory conditions in suspensions prepared from homogenised soil samples. The more eutrophic West stand was more anaerobic than the East stand, with lower redox potential, lower pH and with a higher amount of organic acids, mainly acetic and lactic acid. Mean seasonal concentrations of total nitrogen in pore water, nitrogen of amino acids and proteins, and reducing sugars were all higher in the soil at the more eutrophic stand. Higher nutrient status and more reduced conditions at the more eutrophic stand were accompanied by (i) a limitation of aerobic microbial activities (CO2 production in oxic conditions: 0.35 versus 0.54 μmol CO2 cm−3 h−1); lower DEA (4.0 versus 20.2 nmol N2O cm−3 h−1) and a lower proportion of bacteria that were active in aerobic conditions; (ii) by a prevalence of anaerobic over aerobic microbial processes; (iii) by a higher rate of methanogenesis (15.0 versus 11.5 nmol CH4 cm−3 h−1) and (iv) by an overall lower rate of microbial processes as compared to less eutrophied stand. The shift from aerobic to anaerobic microbial metabolism, and a coinciding restriction of metabolic activities at the more eutrophic stand are indicative of an elevated oxygen stress in the soil, associated with accumulation of metabolites toxic to both the micro-organisms and the reed. Possible links between eutrophication, decomposition processes in the soil and reed decline are discussed.  相似文献

We propose Lobella sokamensis Deharveng and Weiner, 1984 juvenile as a new soil quality indicator to assess heavy metal polluted soils. L. sokamensis is a collembola commonly found with earthworms, and it plays a key role in decomposing dead earthworms. The soil quality assessment of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), antimony (Sb), and zinc (Zn) on the survival of L. sokamensis adults were performed in artificial soil. The LC50 values for L. sokamensis adults exposed to Cd, Cu, Sb and Zn for 5 days were calculated to be 4729, 4472, 4702, and 2521 mg kg−1, respectively. L. sokamensis juveniles (10–12 days) were also exposed to Cd, Cu, Sb, and Zn, and 5 days-LC50 values for Cd, Cu, Sb, and Zn were 282, 229, 447, and 163 mg kg−1, respectively. Both adult and juvenile survivals of L. sokamensis in metal spiked soil were inhibited. We found that the soil quality assessment using L. sokamensis juveniles were sensitive enough to evaluate soil pollution, compared to conventional Folsomia candida assay which is widely used. In addition, L. sokamensis has advantage for easy detection in soil due to the big and orange-colored body. The 5 days-soil quality assessment using L. sokamensis juveniles appears to be rapid protocols for the collembola assay. This is the first report on the collembola assay of heavy metal contaminated soils using the L. sokamensis as a soil indicator.  相似文献

Water pollution by agriculture can include inappropriately managed dairy farmyard dirty water. In Ireland, dairy farmyard dirty water includes farmyard runoff, parlour washings, and silage/farmyard manure effluents. The objectives of this study were to determine (i) the quality and quantity of dirty water generated at a farm-scale and (ii) the seasonal effectiveness of a constructed wetland to treat farmyard dirty water. The wetland system was 4800 m2 in area and treated dirty water from a 42-cow organic dairy unit with an open yard area of 2031 m2. Monthly dirty water inflow rate to the wetland ranged between 3.6 and 18.5 m3 d−1. Farmyard dirty water accounted for 27% of hydrological inputs to the wetland, whereas rainfall on wetland, along with wetland bank inflows accounted for 45 and 28%, respectively. Farmyard dirty water quality and quantity did not vary with season. Yearly mass loads discharged to the wetland were 47 ± 10 kg yr−1 of soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP), 128 ± 35 kg yr−1 of NH4+, 5484 ± 1433 kg yr−1 of organic material as measured by five-day biological oxygen demand (BOD5), and 1570 ± 465 kg yr−1 of total suspended solids (TSS). Phosphorus retention by the wetland varied with season (5–84%) with least amounts being retained during winter.  相似文献

The responses of soil-atmosphere carbon (C) exchange fluxes to growing atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition are controversial, leading to large uncertainty in the estimated C sink of global forest ecosystems experiencing substantial N inputs. However, it is challenging to quantify critical load of N input for the alteration of the soil C fluxes, and what factors controlled the changes in soil CO2 and CH4 fluxes under N enrichment. Nine levels of urea addition experiment (0, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 kg N ha−1 yr−1) were conducted in the needle-broadleaved mixed forest in Changbai Mountain, Northeast China. Soil CO2 and CH4 fluxes were monitored weekly using the static chamber and gas chromatograph technique. Environmental variables (soil temperature and moisture in the 0–10 cm depth) and dissolved N (NH4+-N, NO3-N, total dissolved N (TDN), and dissolved organic N (DON)) in the organic layer and the 0–10 cm mineral soil layer were simultaneously measured. High rates of N addition (≥60 kg N ha−1 yr−1) significantly increased soil NO3-N contents in the organic layer and the mineral layer by 120%-180% and 56.4%-84.6%, respectively. However, N application did not lead to a significant accumulation of soil NH4+-N contents in the two soil layers except for a few treatments. N addition at a low rate of 10 kg N ha−1 yr−1 significantly stimulated, whereas high rate of N addition (140 kg N ha−1 yr−1) significantly inhibited soil CO2 emission and CH4 uptake. Significant negative relationships were observed between changes in soil CO2 emission and CH4 uptake and changes in soil NO3-N and moisture contents under N enrichment. These results suggest that soil nitrification and NO3-N accumulation could be important regulators of soil CO2 emission and CH4 uptake in the temperate needle-broadleaved mixed forest. The nonlinear responses to exogenous N inputs and the critical level of N in terms of soil C fluxes should be considered in the ecological process models and ecosystem management.  相似文献

A protocol to monitor respiration as O2 consumption in soil slurries using the Strathtox® respirometer was developed and tested on four soils from brownfield sites. Respiration rates (mg l−1 h−1) of soil slurries in the Strathtox® were compared with rates (μl min−1) of field moist soils analysed using the Columbus Oxymax® ER10 respirometer. One of the soils (99612B), historically contaminated with diesel, was further studied by monitoring the effect of inorganic NH4NO3 liquid nutrient on enhancing respiration rate. Soil microcosms were monitored continuously on the Oxymax® or sampled at 24, 48 and 72 h intervals, prepared as soil slurries, and analysed on the Strathtox®. On the full-scale remediation project (∼6000 m3) soil 99612B was treated as a biopile with spent mushroom compost (SMC) amendment and respiration rates monitored in samples over an 8-week period. In the laboratory microcosm experiment and full-scale bioremediation treatment described, correlation was found for respiration rates between the two respirometry systems.  相似文献

The estimation of soil moisture by using the backscattering coefficient of radar in a mountainous region is a challenging task due to the complex topography, which impacts the distribution of soil moisture and changes the backscattering coefficient. Complicated terrain can disturb empirical moisture estimation models, thereby, the resulting estimates of soil moisture are very unlikely reliable. This article proposed an innovative way of integration of the topographic wetness index (TWI) and the backscattering coefficient of soil obtained from the TerraSAR-X image, which improves the accuracy of measurement of the soil moisture. The standard estimation error and the coefficient of determination from the model were used to evaluate the performance of TWI. Our results show that the standard estimation error was decreased from: (1) 4.0% to 3.3% cm3 cm−3 at a depth of 5 cm and (2) 4.5% to 3.9% cm3 cm−3 at a depth of 10 cm. The most reliable estimation was observed at a depth of 5 cm, when it was compared with those of 0–5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm. The TWI from the digital elevation model (DEM) is useful as a constraint condition for modeling work. This article concludes that the integration of the backscattering coefficient of soil with TWI can significantly reduce the uncertainty in the estimation of soil moisture in a mountainous region.  相似文献

Nitrate-nitrogen retention in wetlands in the Mississippi River Basin   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
《Ecological Engineering》2005,24(4):267-278
Nitrate-nitrogen retention as a result of river water diversions is compared in experimental wetland basins in Ohio for 18 wetland-years (9 years × 2 wetland basins) and a large wetland complex in Louisiana (1 wetland basin × 4 years). The Ohio wetlands had an average nitrate-nitrogen retention of 39 g-N m−2 year−1, while the Louisiana wetland had a slightly higher retention of 46 g-N m−2 year−1 for a similar loading rate area. When annual nitrate retention data from these sites are combined with 26 additional wetland-years of data from other wetland sites in the Basin Mississippi River (Ohio, Illinois, and Louisiana), a robust regression model of nitrate retention versus nitrate loading is developed. The model provides an estimate of 22,000 km2 of wetland creation and restoration needed in the Mississippi River Basin to remove 40% of the nitrogen estimated to discharge into the Gulf of Mexico from the river basin. This estimated wetland restoration is 65 times the published net gain of wetlands in the entire USA over the past 10 years as enforced by the Clean Water Act and is four times the cumulative total of the USDA Wetland Reserve Program wetland protection and restoration activity for the entire USA.  相似文献

A comprehensive study using ecological engineering analysis was conducted on the influence of the hydrology process in the Yellow River Delta. It was found that water and sediment played an important role in the formation and maintenance of the estuarine wetland. Based on hydrological data (1950–2005), meteorological data (1954–2005) and landscape data produced from integrated Landsat TM images of the Yellow River Delta, the relationship among all the above factors has been analyzed. The results indicated that runoff, sediment discharge and the area of the reed marsh wetland, meadow wetland and tidal wetland had evidently decreased from 1986 to 2001. The runoff and sediment discharge into the Yellow River Delta at a rate of 200–300 × 108 m3 and at 5–8 × 108 t, respectively, were probably the most optimal range for maintaining the stable wetland landscape pattern. Regression analysis and principal component analysis showed that there was a strong positive correlation between the area of wetland landscape and runoff, sediment discharge, whereas there was a negative correlation between the area and the temperature, and there was no significant trend with precipitation levels. The water and sediment discharge are the dominant variable factors of the wetland. Human activities also have an important influence on transformation of wetland types as well as wetland degradation. Therefore, with economic development, climate change and sustainable utilization of resources, great attention should be paid to the changes of natural landscape and their causes.  相似文献

In this study, a survey for the spatial distribution of heavy metals in Hengshuihu Wetland of China was conducted. Samples were collected from three compartments, water, sediment, and reed (Phragmites communis Trin), at different sites, and their contents of heavy metals, including mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and cadmium (Cd), were analyzed. The results showed heavy metals in the sediments distributed in the Buffer Zone and Wangkou Sluice area at concentrations relatively higher than those in other areas, while concentrations in the Core Zone were lower. The heavy metal concentrations of water bodies in all areas, except those for Hg and Pb, were lower than the cutoff values for the first-grade water quality that was set as the highest standard to protect the national nature reserves. The heavy metal distributions among the three compartments were significantly different, with the following order: sediment > plant > water. In the reeds, accumulated amounts of different heavy metals varied in the following order: Hg > Zn > As > Cu > Cr. Concentrations of heavy metals only showed weak correlations between the water bodies and the sediments. Concentrations of heavy metals (except Hg and Cr) had no corrections between the sediments and the reeds. The distribution of mercury indicated that it enters the lake mainly from the atmosphere and outside water bodies. The concentrations of As, Hg, Cr, Cu and Zn in different parts of the reeds were detected and their abundances were ranked in the following order: root > leaf > stem.  相似文献

The efficacy of an essential oil obtained from Pimpinella anisum fruits and its major compound, trans-Anethole, was tested on the eggs, larvae and adults of Culex quinquefasciatus. While causing no significant mortality on eggs, other tested stages were very sensitive to the essential oil and trans-Anethole. LC50 for the 2nd to 4th instar larvae was estimated as 26–27 μL·L 1 and 15–19 μL·L 1 for the essential oil and trans-Anethole, respectively. As for the essential oil applied on adults, LC(LD)50 was estimated as 9.3 μL mL 1 (spray test), 1.9 μL L 1 (fumigation test) and 0.6 μg cm 2 (tarsal test), and for trans-Anethole as 8.1 μL mL 1 (spray test), 2.1 μL L 1 (fumigation test) and 0.4 μg cm 2 (tarsal test). The time needed to achieve 50% mortality after application of LC(LD)99 of the essential oil was significantly different; for example, in larvicidal assays it ranged from 15 to 235 min depending on the larval instar, and from 9 to 180 min when applied to adults, depending on the mode of application. It was also found that temperature had an important effect on the larvicidal efficacy of the essential oil, and oviposition deterrent activity was studied. The essential oil and trans-Anethole were toxic for Daphnia magna (62–92% mortality) and significantly reduced its fertility at high concentrations (35–50 μL mL 1) and long exposure (48 h). However, no negative effect on Daphnia mortality or fertility was found at shorter exposure times (6 h) and/or lower concentrations (20 μL mL 1).Based on the results of this study, we can recommend the essential oil from P. anisum as a suitable active substance for potential botanical insecticides.  相似文献
