Rare earth ions (Eu3+ or Tb3+)‐activated Ca3 Ga2 Si3O12 (CaGaSi) phosphors were synthesized by using a sol–gel method. Photoluminescence spectra of Eu3+:CaGaSi phosphors exhibited five emission bands at 578, 592, 612, 652 and 701 nm, which were assigned to the transitions (5D07F0, 7F1, 7F2, 7F3 and 7F4), respectively, with an excitation wavelength of λexci = 392 nm. Among these, the transition 5D07F2 (612 nm) displayed bright red emission. In the case of Tb3+:CaGaSi phosphors, four emission bands were observed at 488 (5D47F6), 543 (5D47F5), 584 (5D47F4) and 614 nm (5D47F3) from the measurement of PL spectra with λexci = 376 nm. Among these, the transition 5D47F5 at 543 nm displayed bright green emission. The structure and morphology of the phosphors were studied from the measurements of X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy‐dispersive X‐ray analysis (EDAX) results. A series of Eu3+‐activated NaLi2PO4 novel phosphors was synthesized by the solid‐state reaction method. The X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) properties of these phosphors were investigated at room temperature. The excitation spectra indicate that these phosphors can be effectively excited by near‐UV (370–410 nm) light. The emission spectra exhibit strong reddish‐orange performance, which is due to the 5D07FJ transitions of Eu3+ ions. The orange emission from transition 5D07F1 is dominant over that of 5D07F2. The concentration quenching of Eu3+ was observed in NaLi2PO4:Eu3+ when the Eu concentration was at 1 mol%. The impact of doping Eu3+ and photoluminescence properties were investigated and we propose a feasible interpretation. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Eu3+‐activated MAl(SO4)2Br phosphors (where M = Mg or Sr) are successfully prepared using a wet chemical reaction technique. The samples are characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopies. The XRD pattern revealed that both the samples are microcrystalline in nature. PL of Eu3+‐doped SrAl(SO4)2Br and MgAl(SO4)2Br phosphors exhibited characteristic red emission coming from the 5D07F2 (616 nm) electron transition, when excited by 396 nm wavelength of light. The maximum intensity of luminescence was observed at a concentration of 1 mol% Eu3+. The intensity of the electric dipole transition at 616 nm is greater than that of the magnetic dipole transition at 594 nm. The results showed that MAl(SO4)2Br:Eu3+, (M = Mg, Sr) phosphors have potential application in near‐UV light‐emitting diodes as efficient red‐emitting phosphor. Eu3+‐doped polystyrene and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF/Eu3+ and PS/Eu3+) nanofibers were made using electrospinning. These fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) and photoluminescence (PL). Spectral analysis of PVDF/Eu3+ and PS/Eu3+ nanofibers was based on their emission spectra. A bright red emission was noticed from Eu3+ that was assigned to the hypersensitive 5D0 → 7F2 transition. The enhanced intensity ratios of 5D0 → 7F2 to 5D0 → 7F1 transitions in the nanofibers indicated a more polarized chemical environment for the Eu3+ ions and greater hypersensitivity for the 5D0 → 7F2 transition, which showed the potential for application in various polymer optoelectronic devices. The Eu3+‐doped polymer (PVDF/Eu3+ and PS/Eu3+) nanofibers are suitable for the photoluminescent white light fabric design of smart textiles. This paper focuses on the potential application of smart fabrics to address challenges in human life.  相似文献

The solution combustion technique was used to synthesize MLaAl3O7 (M = Ba, Ca, Mg, and Sr) nanophosphors‐doped with Eu3+ using metal nitrates as precursors. The photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra exhibited three peaks at 587–591, 610–616, and 653–654 corresponding to 5D07F1, 5D07F2, and 5D07F3 transitions, respectively. Upon excitation at 254 nm, these nanophosphors displayed strong red emission with the dominant peak attributed to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+. The materials were further heated at 900 and 1050°C for 2 h to examine the consequence of temperature on crystal lattice and PL emission intensity. X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis proved that all the synthesized materials were of a crystalline nature. CaLaAl3O7 material has a tetragonal crystal structure with space group P421m. Scherer's equation was used to calculate the crystallite size of synthesized phosphors using XRD data. A Fourier transformation infrared study was used to observe the stretching vibrations of metal–oxygen bonds. Infrared peaks for stretching vibrations corresponding to lanthanum–oxygen and aluminium–oxygen bonds were found at 582 and 777 cm–1 respectively for CaLaAl3O7 phosphor material. Transmission electron microscopy images were used to determine the size of particles (18–37 nm for the as‐prepared materials) and also to analyze the three‐dimensional view of these materials. The experimental data indicate that these materials may be promising red‐emitting nanophosphors for use in white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

In this paper, we have reported the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the Ba2Mg(PO4)2:Eu3+ phosphor synthesized using a wet chemical method. The preliminary scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation of the sample revealed irregular surface morphology with particle sizes in the 10–50 μm range. The strongest PL excitation peak was observed at 396 nm. The emission spectra indicated that this phosphor can be effectively excited by the 396 nm wavelength. Upon 396 nm excitation, the emission spectrum showed characteristics peaks located at 592 nm and 615 nm. These intense orange‐red emission peaks were obtained due to f→f transitions of Eu3+ ions. The emission peak at 592 nm is referred to as the magnetic dipole 5D07F1 transition and the emission peak at 615 nm corresponded to the electric dipole 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+. The Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the Ba2Mg(PO4)2:Eu3+ phosphor were found to be (0.586, 0.412) for wavelength 592 nm and (0.680, 0.319) for wavelength 615 nm situated at the edge of the CIE diagram, indicating high colour purity of phosphors. Due to the high emission intensity and a good excitation profile, Eu3+‐doped Ba2Mg(PO4)2 phosphor may be a promising orange‐red phosphor candidate for solid‐state lighting applications.  相似文献

A new halophosphor K3Ca2(SO4)3 F activated by Eu or Ce and K3Ca2(SO4)3 F:Ce,Eu co‐doped halosulfate phosphor has been synthesized by the co‐precipitation method and characterized for its photoluminescence (PL). The PL emission spectra of the K3Ca2(SO4)3 F :Ce phosphor show emission at 334 nm when excited at 278 nm due to 5d → 4f transition of Ce3+ ions. In the K3Ca2(SO4)3 F:Eu lattice, Eu2+ (440 nm) as well as Eu3+ (596 nm and 615 nm) emissions have been observed showing 5D07 F1 and 5D07 F2 transition of the Eu3+ ion, which is in the blue and red region of the visible spectrum respectively. The trivalent europium ion is very useful for studying the nature of metal coordination in various systems owing to its non‐degenerate emitting 5D0 state. K3Ca2(SO4)3 F:Ce,Eu is suitable for Ce3+ → Eu2+ → Eu3+ energy transfer in which Ce3+and Eu2+ play the role of sensitizers and Eu2+ and Eu3+ act as the activators. The observations presented in this paper are relevant for lamp phosphors. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study, Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 phosphor was successfully synthesized using a modified solid‐state diffusion method. The Eu3+ ion concentration was varied at 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 and 1 mol%. The phosphor was characterized for phase purity, morphology, luminescent properties and molecular transmission at room temperature. The XRD pattern suggests a result closely matching the standard JCPDS file (#80‐0843). The emission and excitation spectra were followed to discover the luminescence traits. The excitation spectra indicate that the current phosphor can be efficiently excited at 395 nm and at 466 nm (blue light) to give emission at 595 and 614 nm due to the 5D07Fj transition of Eu3+ ions. Concentration quenching was observed at 0.5 mol% Eu3+ in the Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 host lattice. Strong red emission with CIE chromaticity coordinates of phosphor is x = 0.63 and y = 0.36 achieved with dominant red emission at 614 nm the 5D07 F2 electric dipole transition of Eu3+ ions. The novel Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 phosphor may be a suitable red‐emitting component for solid‐state lighting using double‐excited wavelengths, i.e. near‐UV at 395 nm and blue light at 466 nm. A new phosphor CaAl(SO4)2Br doped with Dy, Ce and Eu is reported. Rare earth (Dy, Eu and Ce)‐doped polycrystalline CaAl(SO4)2Br phosphors were prepared using a wet chemical reaction method and studied for X‐ray diffraction and photoluminescence (PL) characteristics. Dy3+ emission in the CaAl(SO4)2Br lattice was observed at 484 and 574 nm in the blue and yellow regions of the spectrum, which are assigned to 4 F9/26H15/2 and 4 F9/26H13/2 transitions of the Dy3+ ion, respectively. While the PL emission spectra of CaAl(SO4)2Br:Ce phosphor showed Ce3+ emission at 347 nm due to 5d → 4f transition of the Ce3+ ion. In a CaAl(SO4)2Br:Eu lattice, Eu3+ emissions were observed at 593 and 617 nm, coming from the 5D07 F1 and 5D07 F2 electron transitions, respectively. The PL study showed that the intensity of electric dipole transition at 617 nm dominates over that of magnetic dipole transition at 590 nm. The maximum PL intensity was obtained for a 1 mol% concentration of Eu3+ in CaAl(SO4)2Br host lattice. The results showed that the material may be a promising candidate as a blue‐, yellow‐ and red‐emitting phosphor. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Barium‐gadolinium‐titanate (BaGd2Ti4O12) powder ceramics doped with rare‐earth ions (Eu3+ and Tb3+) were synthesized by a solid‐state reaction method. From the X‐ray diffraction spectrum, it was observed that Eu3+ and Tb3+:BaGd2Ti4O12 powder ceramics are crystallized in the form of an orthorhombic structure. Scanning electron microscopy image shows that the particles are agglomerated and the particle size is about 200 nm. Eu3+‐ and Tb3+‐doped BaGd2Ti4O12 powder ceramics were examined by energy dispersive X‐ray analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, photoluminescence and thermoluminescence (TL) spectra. Emission spectra of Eu3+‐doped BaGd2Ti4O12 powder ceramics showed bright red emission at 613 nm (5D07F2) with an excitation wavelength λexci = 408 nm (7F05D3) and Tb3+:BaGd2Ti4O12 ceramic powder has shown green emission at 534 nm (5D47F5) with an excitation wavelength λexci = 331 nm ((7F65D1). TL spectra show that Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions affect TL sensitivity. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The CaAlBO4:RE (RE = Dy3+, Eu3+, Sm3+) phosphor were prepared via combustion synthesis and studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), photoluminescence (PL) spectra and CIE coordinates. The phase formation of the obtained phosphor was analyzed by XRD and the result was confirmed by standard PDF Card No. 1539083. XRD data successfully indicated pure phase of CaAlBO4 phosphor. The crystal structure of CaAlBO4 phosphor is orthorhombic with space group Ccc2 (37). The SEM image of CaAlBO4 phosphor reveals an agglomerated morphology and non-uniform particle size. The EDS image provides evidence of the elements present and the chemical makeup of the materials. Under the 350 nm excitation, the emission spectrum of Dy3+ activated CaAlBO4 phosphor consists of two main groups of characteristic peaks located at 484 and 577 nm which are ascribed to 4F9/26H15/2 and 4F9/26H13/2 transition of Dy3+ respectively. The PL emission spectra of CaAlBO4:Eu3+ phosphor shows characteristics bands observed around 591 and 613 nm, which corresponds to 5D07F1 and 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ respectively, upon 395 nm excitation wavelength. The emission spectra of Sm3+ activated CaAlBO4 phosphor shows three characteristic bands observed at 565, 601 and 648 nm which emits yellow, orange and red color. The prominent emission peak at the wavelength 601 nm, which is attributed to 4G5/26H7/2 transition, displays an orange emission. The CIE color coordinates of CaAlBO4:RE (RE = Dy3+, Eu3+, Sm3+) phosphor are calculated to be (0.631, 0.368), (0.674, 0.325) and (0.073, 0.185). As per the obtained results, CaAlBO4:RE (RE = Dy3+, Eu3+, Sm3+) phosphor may be applicable in eco-friendly lightning technology.  相似文献

A novel phosphor LiBaPO4 doped with rare earths Eu and Dy prepared by high temperature solid‐state reaction method is reported. The phosphors were characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescence (PL). The emission and excitation spectra of these materials were measured at room temperature with a spectrofluorophotometer. The excitation spectra of LiBaPO4:Eu3+ phosphor can be efficiently excited by 394 nm, which is matched well with the emission wavelength of near‐UV light‐emitting diode (LED) chip. PL properties of Eu3+‐doped LiBaPO4 exhibited the characteristic red emission coming from 5D07 F1 (593 nm) and 5D07 F2 (617 nm) electronic transitions with color co‐ordinations of (0.680, 0.315). The results demonstrated that LiBaPO4:Eu3+ is a potential red‐emitting phosphor for near‐UV LEDs. Emission spectra of LiBaPO4:Dy3+ phosphors showed efficient blue (481 nm) and yellow (574 nm) bands, which originated from 4 F9/26H15/2 and 4 F9/26H13/2 transitions of the Dy3+ ion, respectively. The 574 nm line is more intense than the 481 nm lines, which indicates that the site Dy3+ is located with low symmetry. This article summarizes fundamentals and possible applications of optically useful inorganic phosphates with visible photoluminescence of Eu3+ and Dy3+ ions. Europium trivalent (Eu3+)‐doped Y2O3 nanopowders of different concentrations (0.5, 2.5, 5 or 7 at.%) were synthesized by the sol‐gel method, at different pH values (pH 2, 5 or 8) and annealing temperatures (600°C, 800°C or 1000°C). The nanopowders samples were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and steady state photoluminescence spectroscopy. The effect of pH of solution and annealing temperatures on structural, morphological and photoluminescence properties of Eu3+‐doped Y2O3 were studied and are discussed. It was found that the average crystallite size of the nanopowders increased with increasing pH and annealing temperature values. The Y2O3:Eu3+ material presented different morphology and its evolution depended on the pH value and the annealing temperature. Activation energies at different pH values were determined and are discussed. Under ultraviolet (UV) light excitation, Y2O3:Eu3+ showed narrow emission peaks corresponding to the 5D0–7FJ (J = 0, 1, 2 and 3) transitions of the Eu3+ ion, with the most intense red emission at 611 assigned to forced electric dipole 5D07F2. The emission intensity became more intense with increasing annealing temperature and pH values, related to the improvement of crystalline quality. For the 1000°C annealing temperature, the emission intensity presented a maximum at pH 5 related to the uniform cubic‐shaped particles. It was found that for lower annealing temperatures (small crystallite size) the CTB (charge transfer band) position presented a red shift. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The new borate phosphor CaB2O4:Eu3+ was synthesized by solid‐state method and their photoluminescence properties were investigated. The results show that the pure phase of CaB2O4 could be available at 900°C, CaB2O4:Eu3+ phosphor could be effectively excited by the near ultraviolet light (NUV) (392 nm), and the luminescent intensity of CaB2O4:Eu3+ phosphor reached to the highest when the doped‐Eu3+ content was 4 mol%. The emission spectra of CaB2O4:Eu3+ phosphor could exhibit red emission at 612 nm and orange emission at 588 nm, which are ascribed to the 5D07F2 and 5D07F1 transitions of Eu3+ ions. LiCaBO3:Dy3+/Eu3+ phosphors were synthesized by a solid‐state reaction. The synthesized materials were characterized using powder X‐ray diffraction pattern (XRD) for confirmation. All the structural parameters were calculated from the XRD data. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images showed rod‐like morphology. Photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra showed two emissions (484 and 577 nm) in Dy3+‐doped LiCaBO3:Dy3+phosphors with the concentration quenching effect and the critical distance was calculated to be about 22.76 Å. LiCaBO3:Eu3+ phosphor was effectively excited by a near‐UV light of 392 nm. The emission spectra exhibited the transition from 5D0 level to 7FJ (J = 0–2) with main emission at 614 nm, which comes from the electrodipole transition because of the asymmetric point group. The quenching concentration of Eu3+ is about 0.2 mol%, and the critical distance was calculated to be about 38.93 Å. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor was prepared by the solid‐state reaction method under a weak reducing atmosphere. The obtained phosphor was characterized using X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) techniques. The phase structure of the Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor was akermanite type, which is a member of the melilite group. The surface morphology of the sintered phosphor was not uniform and phosphors aggregated tightly. EDX and FT‐IR spectra confirm the elements present in the Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Dy3+ phosphor. Under UV excitation, a broadband emission spectrum was found. The emission spectra observed in the green region centered at 535 nm, which is due to the 4f–5d transition. The mechanoluminescence (ML) intensity of the prepared phosphor increased linearly with increases in the mechanical load. The ML spectra were similar to the photoluminescence (PL), which indicates that ML is emitted from the same emitting center of Eu2+ ions as PL. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Potassium fluoro‐phosphate (KFP) glass singly doped with different concentrations of europium (Eu3+) or samarium (Sm3+) or co‐doped (Sm3+/Eu3+) was prepared, and their luminescence spectra were investigated. The phase composition of the product was verified by X‐ray diffraction analysis. Optical transition properties of Eu3+ in the studied potassium phosphate glass were evaluated in the framework of the Judd–Ofelt theory. The radiative transition rates (AR), fluorescence branching ratios (β), stimulated emission cross‐sections (σe) and lifetimes (τexp) for certain transitions or levels were evaluated. Red emission of Eu3+ was exhibited mainly by the 5D07F2 transition located at 612 nm. Concentration quenching and energy transfer were observed from fluorescence spectra and decay curves, respectively. It was found that the lifetimes of the 5D0 level increased with increase in concentration and then decreased. By co‐doping with Sm3+, energy transfer from Sm3+ to Eu3+ occurred and contributed to the enhancement in emission intensity. Intense orange‐red light emission was obtained upon sensitizing with Sm3+ in KFP glass. This approach shows significant promise for use in reddish‐orange lighting applications. The optimized properties of the Sm3+/Eu3+ co‐doped potassium phosphate glass might be promising for optical materials.  相似文献

The compound Na3SO4Cl X (X = Ce3+, Eu3+ or Dy3+) prepared by the wet chemical method was studied for its photoluminescence (PL) and energy transfer characteristics. The PL from Na3SO4Cl:Ce3+ shows strong emission at 322 nm at an excitation of 272 nm. Therefore, an efficient Ce3+ → Dy3+, Eu2+ → Dy3+ and Eu2+ → Eu3+ energy transfer had taken place in this host. The Dy3+ emission caused by Ce3+ → Dy3+ energy transfer under ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths peaked at around 477 nm and 572 nm due to 4 F9/26H15/2 and 6H13/2 transitions with yellow–orange emission in the Na3SO4Cl lattice. An intense Dy3+ emission was observed at 482 and 576 nm caused by the Eu2+ → Dy3+ energy transfer process and due to 4 F9/26H15/2 and 4 F9/26H13/2 transitions respectively. The Eu3+ blue to red light emission caused by the Eu2+ → Eu3+ energy transfer peaked at 593 nm and 617 nm due to 5D05D3 transitions. The presence of trivalent Eu in Na3SO4Cl suggested the presence of Eu3+ in the host compound that occupied two different lattice sites and that peaked at 593 and 617 nm due to 5D07 F1 and 5D07 F2 transitions respectively. The trivalent europium ion is very useful for studying the nature of metal coordination in various systems due to its non‐degenerate emitting 5D0 state. The present paper discusses the photoluminescence characteristics of Eu2+ → Dy3+ and Eu2+ → Eu3+ energy transfer. This compound may be useful as a lamp phosphor. A solid‐state reaction route‐based LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 was phosphor synthesized for the first time to evaluate its luminescence performance by excitation, emission and lifetime (τ) measurements. The LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 phosphor was excited at λexci. = 397 nm to give an intense orange–red (597 nm) emission attributed to the 5D07F1 magnetic dipole (ΔJ = ±1) transition and red (616 nm) emission (5D07F2), which is an electric dipole (ΔJ = ±2) transition of the Eu3+ ion. Beside this, excitation and emission spectra of host LiTi2(PO4)3 powder were also reported. The effect of Eu3+ concentration on luminescence characteristics was explained from emission and lifetime profiles. Concentration quenching in the LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 phosphor was studied from the Dexter's model. Dipole–quadrupole interaction is found to be responsible for energy transfer among Eu3+ ions in the host lattice. The LiTi2 ? xEux(PO4)3 phosphor displayed a reddish‐orange colour realized from a CIE chromaticity diagram. We therefore suggest that this new phosphor could be used as an optical material of technological importance in the field of display devices. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Triple whitlockite‐type structure‐based red phosphors Ca8MgBi1?x(PO4)7:xEu3+ (x = 0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50, 0.60, 0.70, 0.80 and 1.00) were synthesized by a conventional solid‐state reaction route and characterized by their X‐ray crystal structures. The X‐ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, Fourier transform infrared spectra, morphologies, photoluminescence spectra, UV/Vis reflectance spectra, decay times and the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of Ca8MgBi1?x(PO4)7:xEu3+ were analyzed. Eu‐doped Ca8MgBi(PO4)7 phosphors exhibited strong red luminescence with peaks at 616 nm due to the 5D07 F2 electric dipole transition of Eu3+ ions after excitation at 396 nm. The UV/Vis spectra indicated that the band gap of Ca8MgBi0.30(PO4)7:0.70Eu3+ is larger than that of Ca8MgBi(PO4)7. The phosphor developed in this study has great potential as a red‐light‐emitting phosphor for UV light‐emitting diodes. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
