The colocalization of immunoreactivities to substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in nervous structures and their correlation with other peptidergic structures were studied in the stellate ganglion of the guinea pig by the application of double-labelling immunofluorescence. Three types of fibre were distinguished. (1) Substance P+/CGRP+ fibres, which sometimes displayed additional immunoreactivity for enkephalin, constituted a small fibre population of sensory origin, as deduced from retrograde labelling of substance P+/CGRP+ dorsal root ganglion cells. (2) Substance P+/CGRP fibres were more frequent; some formed baskets around non-catecholaminergic perikarya that were immunoreactive to vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP). (3) CGRP+/substance P fibres were most frequent and were mainly distributed among tyrosine hydroxylase (TH)-immunoreactive cell bodies. The peptide content of fibre populations (2) and (3) did not correspond to that of sensory ganglion cells retrogradely labelled by tracer injection into the stellate ganglion. Therefore, these fibres are throught to arise from retrogradely labelled preganglionic sympathetic neurons of the spinal cord, in which transmitter levels may have been too low for immunohistochemical detection of substance P or CGRP. CGRP-immunoreactivity but no substance P-immunolabelling was observed in VIP-immunoreactive postganglionic neurons. Such cell bodies were TH-negative and were spared by substance P-immunolabelled fibre baskets. Retrograde tracing with Fast Blue indicated that the sweat glands in the glabrous skin of the forepaw were the targets of these neurons. The streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase method at the electron-microscope level demonstrated that immunoreactivity to substance P and CGRP was present in dense-cored vesicles of 50–130 nm diameter in varicosities of non-myelinated nerve fibres in the stellate ganglion. No statistically significant difference in size was observed between vesicles immunolabelled for substance P and CGRP. Immunoreactive varicosities formed axodendritic and axosomatic synaptic contacts, and unspecialized appositions to non-reactive neuronal dendrites, somata, and axon terminals. Many varicosities were partly exposed to the interstitial space. The findings provide evidence for different pathways utilizing substance P and/or CGRP in the guinea-pig stellate ganglion.  相似文献

Summary Layers containing Auerbach's and Meissner's plexuses were dissected from the small intestine of guinea pig and immunostained with affinity-purified antibodies against brain-specific microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs): MAP1, MAP2 and tau and a MAP with a molecular weight of 190000 dalton purified from bovine adrenal cortex (190-kDa MAP). MAP1 antibody stained the network of nerve fibers and the cell bodies of enteric neurons in both Auerbach's and Meissner's plexuses. Staining with anti-tau antibody gave the same results. Antibody against MAP2 stained neuronal cell bodies and short thin processes extending from them. Interganglionic strands composed mainly of long processes were unstained. Anti-190-kDa MAP antibody stained both the neuronal cell bodies and bundles of nerve fibers. However, the staining was less intense than that with anti-MAP1 and tau antibodies. Differentiation in the structure of the cytoskeleton probably exists in the neuronal processes of the enteric neurons as is shown in the dendrites and axons in some neurons of the central nervous system. Thus, enteric neurons possess axon-like processes containing MAP1, tau and probably lower amounts of 190-kDa MAP. Cell bodies and dendrite-like structures of these neurons contain MAP2 in addition to MAP1, tau and 190-kDa MAP.  相似文献

Summary Although peptide neurotransmitters have been shown to modulate hormone secretion in many glands, there are very few studies of neurotransmitters in the parathyroid gland. Bovine parathyroid glands were collected at a local abattoir, fixed with paraformaldehyde, sectioned using a cryostat, and stained by indirect immunohistochemistry for calcitonin gene-related peptide and substance P. We were able to positively identify both neuropeptides. Nerve fibres containing calcitonin gene-related peptide and substance P were identified in contact with the tunica media of arteries and arterioles and dispersed throughout the stroma of the gland. While many of the fibres encircled parenchymal lobules, no intimate contact with the peripheral chief cells was observed. All immunoreactive fibres were found to contain both neuropeptides. Since calcitonin gene-related peptide and substance P are vasodilators, they may increase blood flow within the gland. In addition, the neuropeptides may diffuse from perilobular nerve fibres into the parenchyma, thereby modulating secretion of parathyroid hormone.  相似文献

The mechanisms of intercommunication between the immune and nervous systems are not fully understood. In the case of the intestine, the enteric nervous system is involved in the regulation of immune responses. It was therefore decided to employ immunohistochemical techniques to investigate the structural organization of the enteric nervous system in Peyer's patches of the porcine small intestine. Using antibodies against various nervous system-specific markers (protein gene product 9.5, neuron-specific enolase, neurofilament 200, S-100 protein and the glial fibrillary acidic protein), an intimate and specific structural association could be demonstrated between enteric nerves and the compartments of Peyer's patches: follicles, interfollicular regions and domes. Peyer's patches have a close topographical relationship to the two submucosal plexuses. Enteric nerves are located around the follicle in the interfollicular area — the so-called traffic area-and in the dome area, which plays an important role in the uptake and presentation of antigens.  相似文献

Summary The morphological and topographical features of the intramural enteric nervous system in the small intestine of the pig has been studied on whole mounts by means of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S-100 protein immu-nohistochemistry. A clear visualization of the myenteric plexus allows the recognition of its characteristic morphology, including the thin tertiary plexus coursing within the smooth muscle layers. In the tela submucosa two ganglionated plexuses, each with its own specific characteristics, can clearly be demonstrated: (1) the plexus submucosus externus (Schabadasch) located near the inner surface of the circular muscle layer at the abluminal side of the submucosal vascular arcades, and (2) the plexus submucosus internus (Meissner) close to the outer surface of the lamina muscularis mucosae at the luminal side of the submucosal vascular arcades. Due to the possibility to trace clearly the perivascular plexuses of these vascular arcades by use of immunohistochemical techniques with antibodies to NSE and S-100 protein, the two submucosal nerve plexuses can be demonstrated with exceptional clarity. This is the first report of an investigation of the intramural nerve plexuses of the small intestine of the pig using the NSE and S-100 immunostaining methods, which is sufficiently detailed to substantiate the characteristic topography and structure of the two submucosal plexuses and their relation to the smooth muscle layers and perivascular plexuses. The level of NSE immunoreactivity for enteric neurons displays great variation, a substantial proportion of the type-II neurons appearing strongly stained. Although little is known of the specific function of these enzymes, proposals are discussed.

Summary In addition to differences between the two submucosal ganglionic neural networks, i.e., the plexus submucosus externus (Schabadasch) and the plexus submucosus internus (Meissner), with respect to the occurrence and distribution of serotonin as neurotransmitter, immunocytochemistry also revealed a distinct distribution for various neuropeptides in these two plexuses. Immunoreactivity for galanin, vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, calcitonin gene-related peptide, substance P, neuromedin U, enkephalin, somatostatin and neuropeptide Y was found in varicose and non-varicose nerve fibres of both submucosal ganglionic plexuses, albeit with a distinct distributional pattern. The difference in neurotransmitter and/or neuromodulator content between both neural networks became even more obvious when attention was focussed on the immunoreactivity of the nerve cell bodies for these substances. Indeed, neuropeptide Y, enkephalin-and somatostatin-immunoreactive neuronal perikarya as well as serotonergic neuronal cell bodies appear solely in the plexus submucosus externus. Neuromedin U-immunoreactive perikarya, mostly coexisting with substance P, are observed in large numbers in the plexus submucosus internus, whilst they are rare in the plexus submucosus externus. Double-labelling immunostaining for substance P with CGRP and galanin revealed a different coexistence pattern for the two submucosal ganglionic plexuses. The differing chemical content of the neuronal populations supports the hypothesis that the existence of the two submucosal ganglionic plexuses, present in most large mammals including man, not only reflects a morphological difference but also points to differentiated functions.  相似文献

Summary Neuromedin U immunoreactivity was located histochemically in the guinea-pig small intestine. Projections of immunoreactive neurons were determined by analysing patterns of degeneration following nerve lesions. The co-localization of neuromedin U immunoreactivity with immunoreactivity for substance P, neuropeptide Y, vasoactive intestinal peptide and calbindin was also investigated. Neuromedin U immunoreactivity was found in nerve cells in the myenteric and submucous plexuses and in nerve fibres in these ganglionated plexuses, around submucous arterioles and in the mucosa. Reactive fibres did not supply the muscle layers. Most reactive nerve cells in the myenteric ganglia had Dogiel type-II morphology and in many there was co-localization of calbindin, although some Dogiel type-II neuromedin U neurons were calbindin negative. Lesion studies suggest that these myenteric neurons project circumferentially to local myenteric ganglia. Projections from myenteric neurons also run anally in the myenteric plexus, while other projections extend to submucous ganglia, and still further projections run from the intestine to provide terminals in the coeliac ganglia. In the submucous ganglia neuromedin U was co-localized in three populations of nerve cells: (i) those with vasoactive intestinal peptide immunoreactivity, (ii) neurons containing neuropeptide Y, and (iii) neurons containing substance P. Each of these populations sends nerve fibres to the mucosa. Neuromedin U immunoreactivity is thus located in a variety of neurons serving different functions in the intestine and therefore probably does not have a single role in intestinal physiology.  相似文献

Summary The localization of the vertebrate-like neuropeptides substance P (SP), neuropeptide Y (NPY), calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), and cholecystokinin (CCK8) in the central nervous system of the freshwater snail Planorbarius corneus has been studied using specific antisera and single and double immunohistochemistry. A widespread but precise distribution of immunore-activity (IR) in neurons and fibers of almost all the ganglia is observed for each antiserum. A comparison of the IR with classical neurosecretory staining (AB/AY) shows a partial overlap only for CGRP and CCK8. Whereas CGRP-IR is found in some Yellow Cells in the left parietal ganglion, CCK8-IR is found in Yellow Green, Green and Brown Cells in the viscero-parietal complex. Studies employing double-sequential methods or simultaneous immunofluorescence have shown that, with regard to the tested antisera, CCK8- and NPY-IR are colocalized in a limited number of cells and fibers in the buccal and visceral ganglia, whereas CCK8- and SP-IR are colocalized only rarely in neurons in the left cerebral ganglion. The possible roles in P. corneus of the investigated neuropeptides and the contribution that molluscan models may offer to the knowledge of the basic properties of neuropeptides are discussed.  相似文献

With the use of an antiserum generated in rabbits against synthetic human calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) the distribution of CGRP-like immunoreactive cell bodies and nerve fibers was studied in the rat central nervous system. A detailed stereotaxic atlas of CGRP-like neurons was prepared. CGRP-like immunoreactivity was widely distributed in the rat central nervous system. CGRP positive cell bodies were observed in the preoptic area and hypothalamus (medial preoptic, periventricular, anterior hypothalamic nuclei, perifornical area, medial forebrain bundle), premamillary nucleus, amygdala medialis, hippocampus and dentate gyrus, central gray and the ventromedial nucleus of the thalamus. In the midbrain a large cluster of cells was contained in the peripeduncular area ventral to the medial geniculate body. In the hindbrain cholinergic motor nuclei (III, IV, V, VI, VII XII) contained CGRP-immunoreactivity. Cell bodies were also observed in the ventral tegmental nucleus, the parabrachial nuclei, superior olive and nucleus ambiguus. The ventral horn cells of the spinal cord, the trigeminal and dorsal root ganglia also contained CGRP-immunoreactivity. Dense accumulations of fibers were observed in the amydala centralis, caudal portion of the caudate putamen, sensory trigeminal area, substantia gelatinosa, dorsal horn of the spinal cord (laminae I and II). Other areas containing CGRP-immunoreactive fibers are the septal area, nucleus of the stria terminalis, preoptic and hypothalamic nuclei (e.g., medial preoptic, periventricular, dorsomedial, median eminence), medial forebrain bundle, central gray, medial geniculate body, peripeduncular area, interpeduncular nucleus, cochlear nucleus, parabrachial nuclei, superior olive, nucleus tractus solitarii, and in the confines of clusters of cell bodies. Some fibers were also noted in the anterior and posterior pituitary and the sensory ganglia. As with other newly described brain neuropeptides it can only be conjectured that CGRP has a neuroregulatory action on a variety of functions throughout the brain and spinal cord.  相似文献

Summary Calcitonin gene-related peptide immunoreactivity was localized immunohistochemically in nerve fibers innervating the biliary pathway and liver of the guinea-pig. Immunoreactive fibers are present in all layers of the gallbladder and biliary tract and are particularly numerous around blood vessels. In the liver, immunoreactive processes are usually restricted to the interlobular space and porta hepatis, and only a few, very thin, beaded processes were observed in the hepatic parenchyma. A rich innervation is also associated with the vena portae. Positive ganglion cell bodies were not visualized within the ganglionated plexus of the biliary system, whereas they were found in the myenteric and submucosal plexus in the cranial portion of the duodenum corresponding to the sphincter of Oddi. The vast majority, if not all, of calcitonin gene-related peptide-immunoreactive fibers contain substance P immunoreactivity; however, there are some substance P-containing fibers lacking calcitonin gene-related peptide immunoreactivity. The lack of co-occurrence of calcitonin gene-related peptide and substance P immunoreactivities in intrinsic ganglion cells suggests that these two peptides are coexpressed in the extrinsic component of the innervation of the hepatobiliary system.  相似文献

Summary Immunoreactivity for calretinin, a calcium-binding protein, was studied in neurones in the guinea-pig small intestine. 26±1% of myenteric neurones and 12±3% of submucous neurones were immunoreactive for calretinin. All calretinin-immunoreactive neurones were also immunoreactive for choline acetyltransferase and hence are likely to be cholinergic. In the myenteric plexus, two subtypes of Dogiel type-I calretinin-immunoreactive neurones could be distinguished from their projections and neurochemical coding. Some calretinin-immunoreactive myenteric neurones had short projections to the tertiary plexus, and hence are likely to be cholinergic motor neurones to the longitudinal muscle. Some of these cells were also immunoreactive for substance P. The remaining myenteric neurones, immunoreactive for calretinin, enkephalin, neurofilament protein triplet and substance P, are likely to be orad-projecting, cholinergic interneurones. Calretinin immunoreactivity was also found in cholinergic neurones in the submucosa, which project to the submucosal vasculature and mucosal glands, and which are likely to mediate vasodilation. Thus, calretinin immunoreactivity in the guinea-pig small intestine is confined to three functional classes of cholinergic neurones. It is possible, for the first time, to distinguish these classes of cells from other enteric neurones.  相似文献

Summary Antisera to neuropeptide Y (NPY) gave an intense immunohistochemical reaction of certain nerve cells in the myenteric and submucous plexuses of the guinea-pig small intestine. Each nerve cell had up to 20 branching, tapering processes that were less than 50 m long and a long process that could be followed for a considerable distance. This morphology corresponds to that of the type-III cells of Dogiel. The long process of each myenteric cell ran through the circular muscle to the submucosa, and in most cases the process could be traced to the mucosa. The submucous nerve cell bodies also had processes that extended to the mucosa. These cell bodies, in both plexuses, also stained with antisera raised against calcitonin generelated peptide (CGRP), cholecystokinin (CCK), choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) and somatostatin (SOM), but did not stain with antibodies against enkephalin, substance P or vasoactive intestinal peptide. Thus, it has been possible for the first time to trace the processes of chemically specified neurons through the layers of the intestinal wall and to show by a direct method that CGRP/CCK/ChAT/NPY/ SOM myenteric and submucous nerves cells provide terminals in the mucosa.  相似文献

A comparison of anatomical distributions of substance P (SP) and substance P receptors in the rat central nervous system was performed. SP was localized by microdissection and radioimmunoassay and SP fibers and cell bodies by immunohistochemistry. Receptors for 125I-Bolton Hunter labelled SP (125I-BH-SP) were characterized pharmacologically by a slice binding technique in sections that contained primarily striatum. The receptor was saturable and had an equilibrium dissociation constant (KD) of 0.30 nM and maximum number of binding sites (Bmax) of 37.8 fmol/mg protein. Pharmacological characterization using C terminal fragments and naturally occurring analogues of SP reflected characteristics of the receptor which had been shown previously in bioassays and biochemical assays. Comparison of distribution of SP fibers and cell bodies and SP receptors indicated that there is no consistent relationship between the amount of SP receptor and density of SP fibers or cell bodies in a given region of the brain.  相似文献

Summary Substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide were immunohistochemically identified in axons innervating the cornea and the ureter of adult rats and pigeons. The two neuropeptides were similarly distributed in both species. Capsaicin pretreatment induced depletion of the immunoreactivity; this was quantitatively and qualitatively different in rats and pigeons. Topical application of capsaicin (1%) reduced the immunoreactivity in the cornea in both species by 50%. Systemic capsaicin treatment completely depleted both peptides from the corneal innervation of rats but reduced the peptide content only by 50% in the cornea of pigeons. In the ureter of rats, capsaicin pretreatment completely depleted the peptide immunoreactivity. In pigeons the peptide depletion was only complete in the outer longitudinal muscle layer. Whereas only a few immunoreactive fibres were observed in the circular muscle layer, about 50% of the peptide remained in the inner longitudinal muscle layer. The results demonstrate that peptidergic afferents in the cornea and ureter of pigeons are sensitive to capsaicin, although birds do not show nociceptive responses to local administration of the drug. The long-term depletion of substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide by capsaicin is discussed with regard to the possibility that functionally capsaicin receptors may exist in the axon but not at nerve endings.Part of the thesis of Gerhard Harti, to be presented to the Fachbereich Biologie, Justus-Liebig-Universität, Giessen  相似文献

Immunohistochemical analysis of neuron types in the mouse small intestine   总被引:4,自引:1,他引:3
The definition of the nerve cell types of the myenteric plexus of the mouse small intestine has become important, as more researchers turn to the use of mice with genetic mutations to analyze roles of specific genes and their products in enteric nervous system function and to investigate animal models of disease. We have used a suite of antibodies to define neurons by their shapes, sizes, and neurochemistry in the myenteric plexus. Anti-Hu antibodies were used to reveal all nerve cells, and the major subpopulations were defined in relation to the Hu-positive neurons. Morphological Type II neurons, revealed by anti-neurofilament and anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide antibodies, represented 26% of neurons. The axons of the Type II neurons projected through the circular muscle and submucosa to the mucosa. The cell bodies were immunoreactive for choline acetyltransferase (ChAT), and their terminals were immunoreactive for vesicular acetylcholine transporter (VAChT). Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) occurred in 29% of nerve cells. Most were also immunoreactive for vasoactive intestinal peptide, but they were not tachykinin (TK)-immunoreactive, and only 10% were ChAT-immunoreactive. Numerous NOS terminals occurred in the circular muscle. We deduced that 90% of NOS neurons were inhibitory motor neurons to the muscle (26% of all neurons) and 10% (3% of all neurons) were interneurons. Calretinin immunoreactivity was found in a high proportion of neurons (52%). Many of these had TK immunoreactivity. Small calretinin neurons were identified as excitatory neurons to the longitudinal muscle (about 20% of neurons, with ChAT/calretinin/± TK chemical coding). Excitatory neurons to the circular muscle (about 10% of neurons) had the same coding. Calretinin immunoreactivity also occurred in a proportion of Type II neurons. Thus, over 90% of neurons in the myenteric plexus of the mouse small intestine can be currently identified by their neurochemistry and shape.  相似文献

Double-labeling immunofluoresenct histochemistry demonstrates that calretinin, a calcium-binding protein, coexists with calcitonin gene-related peptide, vasoactive intestinal peptide, and substance P in the fibers innervating the lamina propria of the rat intestinal villi. An acetylcholinesterase histochemical stain revealed that the majority of calretinin-containing cells in the myenteric ganglia were cholinergic and that about one half of the submucosal calretinin-containing cells colocalized with acetylcholinesterase. In situ hybridization studies confirmed the presence of calretinin mRNA in the dorsal root ganglia, and a ribonuclease protection assay verified the presence of calretinin message in the intestine. The coexistence of calretinin in calcitonin-gene-related-peptide-containing cells that also contained substance P and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide in the dorsal root ganglia suggest that these ganglia are the source of the quadruple colocalization within the sensory fibers of the villi. Although the function of calretinin in these nerves is unknown, it is hypothesized that the coexistence of three potent vasodilatory peptides influences the uptake of metabolized food products within the vasculature of the villi.  相似文献

Immunohistochemical and radioimmunoassay studies revealed that both CGRP- and SP-like immunoreactivity in the caudal spinal trigeminal nucleus and tract, the substantia gelatinosa and the dorsal cervical spinal cord as well as in cell bodies of the trigeminal ganglion and the spinal dorsal root ganglion is markedly depleted by capsaicin which is known to cause degeneration of a certain number of primary sensory neurons. Higher brain areas and the ventral spinal cord were not affected by capsaicin treatment. Furthermore CGRP and substance P-like immunoreactivity were shown to be colocalized in the above areas and to coexist in cell bodies of the trigeminal ganglion and the spinal dorsal root ganglia. It is suggested that CGRP, like substance P, may have a neuromodulatory role on nociception and peripheral cardiovascular reflexes.  相似文献

We have identified the enteric neuron types expressing immunoreactivity for the calcium-binding protein calbindin D28k (CALB) in cryostat sections and whole-mount preparations of myenteric (MP) and submucosal (SMP) plexuses of sheep ileum. We wished to determine whether CALB-IR in the sheep enteric nervous system was expressed in Dogiel type II cells, as in guinea-pig and rat ileum, and could therefore be used as a marker for intrinsic primary afferent neurons. The neurochemical coding of CALB-containing myenteric and submucosal neurons in ileum of unweaned lamb and mature sheep and its co-localisation with various neural markers was studied immunohistochemically. An antiserum against neuronal nuclear protein (NeuN) failed to detect the entire neuronal population; it was expressed only in 48% of neuron-specific enolase (NSE)-immunoreactive (NSE-IR) neurons. Human neuronal protein appeared to occur in the large majority or all neurons. Almost all CALB-IR neurons were: (1) radially multidendritic; (2) eccentric multidendritic; (3) Dogiel type II. CALB-IR occurred in 20–25% of myenteric and 65–75% of submucosal neurons in lamb and mature sheep, with higher values in mature sheep. Nearly all CALB-IR neurons were common choline acetyltransferase (cChAT)-IR, whereas only about 20% of cChAT-IR somata were CALB-IR. In lamb and mature sheep, 90% of MP CALB-IR neurons were peripheral choline acetyltransferase (pChAT)-IR. In lamb SMP, 80±13% of CALB-IR cells were also pChAT-IR, whereas all those in mature SMP were pChAT-IR. Fewer myenteric CALB-IR neurons exhibited tachykinin (TK) in mature sheep (49%) than in lamb (88%). This was also the case for submucosal ganglia (mature sheep, 63%; lamb, 89%). In lamb MP, 77±7% of CALB-IR cells were NeuN-positive. In mature sheep, 73±10% of CALB-IR somata were NeuN-IR, but NeuN failed to stain SMP neurons. In the MP of suckling and mature sheep, Dogiel type II CALB-IR neurons were calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP)-IR. In the SMP at both stages, Dogiel type II CALB-IR somata (about 50% of CALB-IR neurons) were also CGRP-IR. Only small proportions of CALB-IR neurons showed immunoreactivity for calretinin or nitric oxide synthase (NOS), although large populations of CALB and NOS neurons occurred in the ganglia. Thus, CALB is a marker of most Dogiel type II neurons in the sheep but is not confined to Dogiel II neurons. CGRP is a more selective marker of Dogiel type II neurons, being only found in this neuron type. This work was supported by a grant from the Ministero dellIstruzione, dellUniversità e della Ricerca (MIUR)  相似文献

Light- and electron-microscopic studies were used to investigate connections between specific subgroups of neurons in the myenteric plexus of the guineapig small intestine. Inputs to two classes of calretinin-immunoreactive (IR) nerve cells, longitudinal muscle motor neurons and ascending interneurons, were examined. Inputs from calbindin-IR primary sensory neurons and from three classes of descending interneurons were studied. Electron-microscopic analysis showed that calbindin-IR axons formed two types of inputs, synapses and close contacts, on calretinin-IR neurons. About 40% of inputs to the longitudinal muscle motor neurons and 70% to ascending interneurons were calbindin-IR. Approximately 50% of longitudinal muscle motor neurons were surrounded by bombesin-IR dense pericellular baskets and 40% by closely apposed varicosities. At the electron-microscope level, the bombesin-IR varicosities were found to form synapses and close contacts with the motor neurons. Dense pericellular baskets with bombesin-IR surrounded 36% of all ascending interneurons, and a further 17% had closely apposed varicosities. Somatostatin-and 5-HT-IR descending interneurons provided no dense pericellular baskets to calretinin-IR nerve cells. Thus, calretinin-IR, longitudinal muscle motor neurons and ascending interneurons receive direct synaptic inputs from intrinsic primary sensory neurons and from non-cholinergic, bombesin-IR, descending interneurons.  相似文献
