总体来看,黄芩中Mg(9级)含量较其他植物含量高;P(1级)、K(2级)、Mn(3级)含量与其他植物相比处处较低水平;黄芩对Sr(富集系数达到3.52)有较强富集。

Arctic environments are commonly considered to be relatively pristine because of minimal local human activity. However, these areas receive air pollution from lower latitude regions. Our goal was to determine concentrations of metals (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in dominant species of vascular plants, mosses, lichens, algae, and in the biological soil crust (BSC), and topsoil (0–3 cm) from various types of tundra in the southwestern part of Spitsbergen, Norway. Results indicate that mosses are more efficient bioaccumulators of Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn than lichens. The highest levels of Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, and Pb were found in the BSC, and the moss species Racomitrium lanuginosum, Sanionia uncinata, and Straminergon stramineum from the polygonal tundra, initial cyanobacteria-moss wet tundra, snow bed cyanobacteria-moss tundra, and flow water moss tundra alimented by melting ice or snow. The observed higher concentrations of Cu and lower concentrations of Hg in mosses, lichens, and vascular plants compared with values observed 20 years earlier were apparently associated with changes in the atmospheric deposition of contaminants over Spitsbergen due to changes in the long-distance transport of anthropogenic emissions from industrialized areas. Prasiola crispa and Salix polaris may be useful bioindicators of Cd and Zn, and the BSC, R. lanuginosum, S. uncinata, and S. stramineum as bioindicators of Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, and Pb. These results may be extrapolated across other areas of Spitsbergen with similar climates.  相似文献

Abstract

Bread represents an important source of trace elements in the human diet. This study is focused on home prepared bread in the Czech Republic. The amounts of Cu, Mo, Mn, Ni and Zn (total and soluble in Tris-HCl buffer, pH 7.5), Cd, Co, Fe, Pb and Tl (total only) as well as Hg (total and soluble in mercaptoethanol-HCl mixture) in raw materials and baked bread were determined using ICP-MS. Moreover, the speciation of elements was investigated using HPLC/ICP-MS. Isolated peptide ligands of the trace elements were analysed for amino acids and characterised by MALDI-MS. The concentrations of all elements were in accordance with Czech legislation. The solubility of the Ni species was not affected by the baking process, whereas the solubilities of Mo, Mn and Zn species decreased. Soluble mercury was found only in the inorganic form. The soluble species of Cu, Mo, Mn, Ni and Zn were found in two fractions with the apparent molecular weights of 1–2 kDa and 4–5 kDa. Ligands of trace metals isolated from these fractions contained appreciable amounts of Asx, Glx, Gly, Ser and Cys. No phytochelatin-like peptides were found in the MALDI-MS spectra of isolated ligands,. Using MALDI-MS/MS, the partial amino-acids sequences of peptide ligands were obtained, and the linkages of peptides and saccharides confirmed. The MS analysis of the trypsin digest of the medium molecular weight fraction revealed several proteins rich in cysteine (e.g., barwin and amylase inhibitors).  相似文献

Abstract

The status of 13 trace elements’ (both essential and toxic) was investigated in individual parts of the winter wheat plant(Triticum aestivum) taken during its whole cultivation period. The study includes the determination of total concentrations, portions soluble in 0.02 mol L?1 Tris-HCI buffer solution (pH = 7.5), and the fractionation of soluble species of elements by SEC and ICP/MS. Ligands of trace elements from a low-molecular weight SEC fraction were isolated by affinity chromatography and characterised by MALDI/MS analyses and by amino acids composition. Inhomogeneous accumulation of trace elements was found in the analysed plant tissues. The concentrations of elements are also affected by the maturity of the plants. The distribution of the soluble species of the elements between chromatographic fractions exhibited some regularity in all the samples. Substantial amounts of trace elements are located in a low-molecular weight fraction (< 2 kDa). Only chromatograms of Zn (grain) and Cu (all samples) contain significant medium-molecular and high-molecular weight fractions. Compounds isolated from the low-molecular weight fractions are rich in cystein and dicarboxylic amino acids or their amides. MALDI/MS spectra of these compounds isolated from shoots, straw and grain confirmed the presence of the phytochelatin PC5.  相似文献

Populations of medicinal plants growing on serpentines and their respective soils were analyzed for Fe, Ni, Mn, Cr, Co, Cd, Cu, Zn, and Pb using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. Aqua regia extraction and 0.43 M acetic acid extraction were used for the quantification of pseudototal and bioavailable fractions, respectively, of elements in soil and nitric acid digestion for determination of total element content in plants. Screening was performed to (1) document levels of toxic metals in herbs extensively used in preparation of products and standardized extracts, (2) compare accumulation abilities of ferns and seed plants, and (3) estimate correlations between metal content in plants and their soils. The toxic element content of plants varied from site to site on a large scale. The concentrations of Fe and Ni were elevated while those of Cu, Zn, and Pb were close to average values usually found in plants. The highest concentrations for almost all elements were measured in both Teucrium species. Specific differences in metal accumulation between ferns and seed plants were not recorded. The investigated species are not hyperaccumulators but can accumulate toxic elements, in some cases exceeding permissible levels proposed by the World Health Organization and European Pharmacopoeia. The harvesting of medicinal plants from serpentines could be hazardous to humans.  相似文献

Present study investigates relationships between total and bioaccessibility of trace elements (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, NI, Pb, V, and Zn) concentrations in sediment and their bioaccumulation in species in Shadegan wetland in southwest of Iran. Bioavailability factor (BAF) and translocation factor (TF) were calculated in plants and trophic transfer factor (TTF) was determined in bird species. For this purpose, sampling of sediments, aquatic plants including Phragmites australis, Typha australis, Scripus maritimus and two bird species encircling Porphyrio porphyrio and globally threatened Marmaronetta angustirostris were carried out during winter 2009. Result of chemical analysis show that bioaccessibility concentrations of Mn (8.31 mg/kg), V (1.33 mg/kg), and Pb (1.03 mg/kg) are higher than other metals. The uptake trend of trace elements in plant decreases as root > stem > leaf. Accumulation levels of trace elements in different tissues of P. porphyrio and M. angustirostris are almost identical and considerable. Accumulation and toxicity of Cd in birds is more than plants. In addition, BAF of V, Pb, and Cr indicates high accumulation by plants and great pollution rate in the area of study. In S. maritimus TF for Mn, Cu, Pb, and V are high whereas in T. australis, Cu and Pb posses the highest TF. Also Cr, Co, Mn, Ni, and Zn have higher TF from stem to leaf than root to stem in P. australis. Finally, TTFs were compared in various bird species.  相似文献

Soluble species of phosphorus, sulfur, selenium and eight metals (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Mo and Cd) in soybean flour and common white bean seeds were investigated by size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Samples were extracted by 0.02 mol l(-1) Tris-HCI buffer solution (pH 7.5). Fractionation of sample extracts by preparative scale SEC was accomplished using a Fractogel EMD BioSEC column (600 x 16 mm) and 0.02 mol l(-1) Tris-HCl buffer solution (pH 7.5) as mobile phase (flow rate: 2 ml min(-1)). A 2-ml sample was injected. Contents of elements in chromatographic fractions were determined by AAS, ICP-AES and ICP-MS. The elution profiles of P, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Mo in both samples were similar. Main species of Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Mo were found in the low molecular weight region (2-5 kDa), whereas Fe is predominantly bound to high molecular weight compounds (180 kDa). The dominant phosphorus fraction was detected in the medium molecular weight region (10-30 kDa) and the other fraction in the low molecular weight region. Isotachophoretic analysis of chromatographic fractions revealed that the main phosphorus compound in the medium molecular weight region is phytic acid. SEC on Superdex 75 and Superdex Peptide columns (300 x 10 mm) was performed in on-line hyphenation with ICP-MS. The same mobile phase was used with a flow rate of 0.5 ml min(-1); volume of injected sample was 200 microl. Element specific chromatograms were obtained by continuous nebulization of effluent into ICP-mass spectrometer measuring intensities of 47(PO)+ and 48(SO)+ oxide ions and 55Mn, 57Fe, 59Co, 62Ni, 65Cu, 66Zn, 82Se, 95Mo and 114Cd nuclides. Chromatographic profiles of elements are generally analogous to those obtained with a Fractogel column, but better chromatographic resolution of separated species was achieved so that slight differences between samples were revealed. Estimated molecular weights of major phosphorus species in soybean flour and common white bean seed extracts are 6 and 3.6 kDa, respectively, whereas those of minor phosphorus species in both samples are 0.7 kDa. Traces of phosphorus were also detected in the high molecular weight region (130 kDa). Chromatograms of P, Ni, Cu, Zn and Mo compounds in both extracts are similar but not identical. Molecular weights of major Cu and Zn species are approximately 1 and 0.4 kDa for soybean flour and white bean seeds, respectively. In cases of Mn, Fe, Co and Se, the element profiles of soybean flour and white bean seed extracts are significantly different.  相似文献

The distribution of Cd, Pb, Ni, Cr, Cu, Mn, Fe, and Zn in sediment and surface water, and some physico-chemical characteristics of Orogodo river sediments, were evaluated. The sediment pH ranged from 5.1–7.3; conductivity values ranged from 34.5 to 389.0 μScm?1. Total nitrogen values ranged from 0.06–0.10%, NH3-N values ranged from 0.25–0.44 mgkg?1, percent total organic carbon ranged from 0.21–1.68%, and total phosphorus values ranged from 0.004–0.02% for dry and wet seasons. The sand fraction consists of 87–95%, silt fractions ranged from 0–2%, and clay fraction between 4–13%. The mean concentrations of metals (dry weight basis) in the streambed sediments ranged from 1.92–17.37 mgkg?1 for Cu, 0.98–4.78 mgkg?1 for Ni, 0.01–32.98 mgkg?1 for Mn, 353.22–2045.64 mgkg?1 for Fe, 69.96–100.16 mgkg?1 for Zn, 0.21–1.32 mgkg?1 for Cr, and Cd was less than 0.001 mgkg?1 for wet and dry seasons. The mean concentrations of metals in the surface water ranged between 0.01–0.05–0.05 mg/L for Cu, nd-0.11 mg/L for Ni, 0.001–0.31 mg/L for Pb, 0.001–1.82 mg/L Mn, 0.01–3.52 mg/L for Fe, 0.16–0.61 mg/L for Zn, nd-0.007 mg/L for Cr, and <0.001 mg/L for Cd. Based on principal component analysis, two main sources of metals in the Orogodo River can be identified: (i) Cr, Cu, Pb, and Fe are mainly derived from industrial sources; (ii) Mn, Zn, and Ni associated with traffic activities. No element examined had a contamination/pollution index value greater than unity (pollution ranges). This implies that the multiple pollution indices obtained from the analysis showed that Orogodo River sediments were not polluted with heavy metals.  相似文献

Three naturally growing plants Ipomoea carnea, Lantana camara, and Solanum surattense were found in fly ash dumpsite of Patratu thermal power station, Jharkhand, India. They were assessed for their metal uptake potential. The fly ash was slightly alkaline with very less nitrogen and organic carbon but enriched with phosphorus and heavy metals. Lantana camara and Ipomoea carnea showed good translocation from root to shoot for most of the metals except Mn and Pb. The order of metal accumulation in stem of both the plants were Fe(205mg/kg)>Mn(65mg/kg)>Cu(22.35mg/kg)>Pb(6.6mg/kg)>Cr(3.05mg/kg)>Ni(1 mg/kg)>Cd(0.5 mg/kg) and Fe(741 mg/kg)>Mn(154.05 mg/kg)>Cu(20.75 mg/kg)>Pb(6.75 mg/kg)>Ni(4.0 mg/kg)>Cr(3.3mg/kg)>Cd(0.05mg/kg), respectively. But Solanum surattense accumulated most of the metals in roots. The order was in the following order, Mn (382.2mg/kg) >Fe (264.1mg/kg) > Cu (25.35mg/kg) >Pb (5.95 mg/kg) > Ni (1.9 mg/kg) > Cr (1.8mg/kg) > Cd (0.55 mg/kg). The order of Bioconcentration factor (BCF) in root and shoot followed almost the same order as, Mn>Fe>Ni>Pb>Cu>Cr≈ Cd in all the three species. ANOVA showed significant variation in metal accumulation by root and stem between the species. Finally, it can be concluded that Solanum surattense can be used as phytostabilizer and other two species as phytoextractor of metal for fly ash dumpsite reclamation.  相似文献

Summary

Mount Bloomfield has a range of vegetation types on non-ultramafic and ultramafic soils. We report here foliar chemical analyses for N, P, K, Na, Ca, Mg, AI, B, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mo, Mn, Ni, Si, Zn made on a large number of tree species. The most important results were: the notably high calcium in the ultramafic forest leaves, the occurrence of an aluminium accumulating species and two nickel accumulators on the ultramafic soils. Measurements of herbivory by the leaf-hole method showed that the percentage leaf area consumed by herbivores was similar in all the plots but the actual leaf area consumed was greater in the non-ultramafic forest because this had the largest leaves. There was no relationship between herbivory, and any of the leaf mineral elements investigated. Even the accumulating species were attacked by herbivores, of which the gall-formers and leaf-miners must be tolerant of high element concentrations, since the whole of their juvenile existence is in the leaf tissue.  相似文献

BackgroundThe impact of chemical elements on the biosphere is a function of their concentration and chemical form. Elucidation and prognosing of the latters in water basins and soil extracts is of particular significance for the assessment of their bioaccumulation in plants and animals.ObjectivesTrace metals dynamics in the system water – soil–plant–wild ratsHymenolepis diminuta in two agro-industrial zones (East and West) around Maglizh city, Bulgaria were investigated through experimental studies and thermodynamic modelling of the chemical species.MethodsSamples from surface waters of rivers, their nearby uncultivated soils, meadow uncultivated vegetation (Ranunculus acris and Gramineae) and field rats were collected. In situ measurements and laboratory analyses were performed for the determination of the physico-chemical characteristics and total concentrations of Al, Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn and Pb. The distribution of their dissolved chemical species in water samples and in the aqueous soil extracts was calculated using a thermodynamic approach. The relationship chemical species - bioaccumulation was discussed.ResultsWaters and soils in the East zone of Maglizh area were found to be more polluted compared to those in the West one, regarding Ni, Mn, Zn, Pb and Cu, while Mn and Cu displayed the highest mobility in West zone soils. Trace metals contents in Ranunculus acris exceed that in Gramineae, since the highest accumulation factors were calculated for Cu and Zn. The highest accumulation in rats was found for Zn followed by Cu, being higher in the West zone. Thermodynamic modelling shows that Mn2+ free ions are dominant in both waters and aqueous soil extracts. Ni2+ and Zn2+ ions followed by metal-organic complexes are dominant in waters of East zone while metal-organic complexes followed by free ions are dominant in waters of West zone and both soil extracts. Metal-organic complexes are dominant for Fe, Cu and Pb in all samples studied, while mainly hydroxy forms (Al(OH)4) followed by metal-organic complexes are typically for Al depending on pH.ConclusionsExperimentally established bioaccumulation of trace metals in the studied vegetation and rats is a consequence of the total concentration of trace metals in waters and soils, their mobility and chemical species. The dominance of organic complexes of trace metals is a prerequisite for their bioaccumulation in plants. Rats are in direct contact with the soil solution and therefore, of importance is the content of free ions of Mn2+, Ni2+, Zn2+, which are easily absorbed through the skin. The host-helminth system wild rat/H. diminuta could be used as a bioindicator for trace metals pollution.  相似文献

Leaves and twigs from shrub species consumed by range goats: Acacia berlandieri, Acacia farnesiana, Acacia greggii, Acacia rigidula, Celtis pallida, Cercidium macrum, Condalia obovata, Cordia boissieri, Desmanthus virgathus, Leucaena leucocephala, Leucophyllum texanum, Opuntia lindehimieri, Porlieria angustifolia, Prosopis glandulosa, and Ziziphus obtusifolia were evaluated for comparative seasonal contents of Ca, P, Mg K, Zn, Mn, Cu and Fe. Plants were collected in summer (September 12, 1992), fall (November 20, 1992), winter (February 20, 1993) and spring (May 22, 1993) in Marı́n, County, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. During spring and summer mineral concentrations were higher in general. Only Ca, Mg, K, and Fe were in substantial amounts in all seasons to meet adult goat requirements. With the exception of spring, shrubs had extremely low P concentrations. Manganese, Cu and Zn in most plants had low marginal levels to meet adult goat requirements. Moreover, potential intake of P, Mn, Cu and Zn in shrub species by goats weighing 50 kg BW consuming 2.0 kg per day DM was low. However, plants such as D. virgathus, L. texanum, P. glandulosa, L. leucocephala and C. macrum can be considered prominent components in diets of range goats because of their high mineral concentrations. It appears that ration formulations for range goats in northeastern Mexico should include P, Mn, Cu and Zn in all seasons of the year.  相似文献

AbstractUntreated wastewater contains toxic amounts of heavy metals such as chromium (Cr), which poses a serious threat to the growth and physiology of plants when used in irrigation. Though, Cr is among the most widespread toxic trace elements found in agricultural soils due to various anthropogenic activities. To explore the interactive effects of micronutrients with amino acid chelators [iron-lysine (Fe-lys) and zinc-lysine (Zn-lys)], pot experiments were conducted in a controlled environment, using spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) plant irrigated with tannery wastewater. S. oleracea was treated without Fe and Zn-lys (0 mg/L Zn-lys and 0 mg/L Fe-lys) and also treated with various combinations of (interactive application) Fe and Zn-lys (10 mg/L Zn-lys and 5 mg/L Fe-lys), when cultivated at different levels [0 (control) 33, 66 and 100%) of tannery wastewater in the soil having a toxic level of Cr in it. According to the results, we have found that, high concentration of Cr in the soil significantly (P < 0.05) reduced plant height, fresh biomass of roots and leaves, dry biomass of roots and leaves, root length, number of leaves, leaf area, total chlorophyll contents, carotenoid contents, transpiration rate (E), stomatal conductance (gs), net photosynthesis (PN), and water use efficiency (WUE) and the contents of Zn and Fe in the plant organs without foliar application of Zn and Fe-lys. Moreover, phytotoxicity of Cr increased malondialdehyde (MDA) contents in the plant organs (roots and leaves), which induced oxidative damage in S. oleracea manifested by the contents of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and membrane leakage. The negative effects of Cr toxicity could be overturned by Zn and Fe-lys application, which significantly (P < 0.05) increase plant growth, biomass, chlorophyll content, and gaseous exchange attributes by reducing oxidative stress (H2O2, MDA, EL) and increasing the activities of various antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX). Furthermore, the supplementation of Zn and Fe-lys increased the contents of essential nutrients (Fe and Zn) and decreased the content of Cr in all plant parts compared to the plants cultivated in tannery wastewater without application of Fe-lys. Taken together, foliar supplementation of Zn and Fe-lys alleviates Cr toxicity in S. oleracea by increased morpho-physiological attributes of the plants, decreased Cr contents and increased micronutrients uptake by the soil, and can be an effective in heavy metal toxicity remedial approach for other crops.Graphic abstract  相似文献

This study aims to investigate the contents of trace elements in the brain and serum of male chickens and the effect of selenium–chromium(VI) interaction. A chronic experimental model was established by supplementing 22.14 mg/kg K2Cr2O7 with 0.00, 0.31, 0.63, 1.25, 2.50, and 5.00 mg/kg Na2SeO3 mg/kg B.W. to water for chicken daily. After 14, 28, and 42 days of exposure to the solution, the brain and serum of chickens from each group were collected to detect the levels of Ca, Cu, Mn, Fe, Zn, and Mg by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). Cr(VI) time-dependently accumulated in the brain and serum. The contents of Cr increased both in the brain and serum with prolonged exposure. Cr contents in the brain and serum decreased in all Se groups compared with those in only Cr-treated groups. Ca contents decreased with prolonged exposure and increasing Se dosage. The contents of Cu and Mn increased on the 28th day but decreased on the 42nd day in the brain and serum. Fe and Zn contents decreased in the serum under prolonged exposure and increased on the 28th day but decreased on the 42nd day in the brain. Cr exposure did not significantly affect Mg contents in the brain but slightly decreased those in the serum. Therefore, appropriate doses of Se affected Cr accumulation, leading to adjustments in the contents and correlations of trace elements.  相似文献

ProjectTo understand the role of major, minor, and trace elements in the etiology of bone diseases including osteoporosis, it is necessary to determine the normal levels and age-related changes of bone chemical elements.ProcedureThe effect of age and gender on 38 chemical element contents in intact iliac crest of 84 apparently healthy 15–55 years old women (n=38) and men (n=46) was investigated by neutron activation analysis.ResultsMean values (M±SEM) for mass fraction (on dry weight basis) of Ca, Cl, Co, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Rb, Sr, and Zn for both female and male taken together were Ca – 169±3 g/kg, Cl – 1490±43 mg/kg, Co – 0.0073±0.0024 mg/kg, Fe – 177±24 mg/kg, K – 1820±79 mg/kg, Mg – 1840±48 mg/kg, Mn – 0.316±0.013 mg/kg, Na – 4970±87 mg/kg, P – 79.7±1.5 g/kg, Rb – 1.89±0.22 mg/kg, Sr – 312±15 mg/kg, and Zn – 65.9±3.4 mg/kg, respectively. The upper limit of mean contents of Cs, Eu, Hg, Sb, Sc, and Se were Cs≤0.09 mg/kg, Eu≤0.005 mg/kg, Hg≤0.005 mg/kg, Sb≤0.004 mg/kg, Sc≤0.001 mg/kg, and Se≤0.1 mg/kg, respectively. In all bone samples the contents of Ag, As, Au, Ba, Br, Cd, Ce, Cr, Gd, Hf, La, Lu, Nd, Sm, Ta, Tb, Th, U, Yb, and Zr were under detection limits.ConclusionsThe Ca, Mg, and P contents decrease with age, regardless of gender. Higher Ca, Mg, P, and Sr mass fractions as well as lower Fe content are typical of female iliac crest as compared to those in male bone.  相似文献

The trace metal (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Ni, Pb, Cd, Sr, and Cr) contents in the most common submerged and floating aquatic plants Ceratophyllum demersum L., Myriophyllum spicatum L., and Nymphoides flava Hill. of Provala Lake were evaluated. Considerable higher contents of iron, manganese, zinc, nickel, lead and strontium were found in submerged species than in the floating ones. The presence of cadmium and lead in plant tissues points to a certain degree of lake water pollution.  相似文献

Abstract

Reductive immobilization of Cr(VI) has been widely explored as a cost-effective approach for Cr-contaminated site remediation. In soils containing manganese oxides, however, the immobilized form of chromium, i.e., Cr(III), could potentially be reoxidized. In this study, batch experiments were conducted to assess whether there were any microbial processes that could accelerate Cr(III) oxidation in aerobic, manganese-containing systems. The results showed that in the presence of at least one species of manganese oxidizers, Pseudomonas putida, Cr(III) oxidation took place at low concentrations of Cr(III). About 30–50% of added Cr(III) (10–200 μ M) was oxidized to Cr(VI) within five days in the systems with P. putida and biogenic Mn oxides. The rate of Cr(III) oxidation was approximately proportional to the initial concentration of Cr(III) up to 100 μ M, but the growth of P. putida was partially inhibited by Cr(III) at 200 μ M and totally stopped when it reached 500 μ M. Cr(III) oxidation was dependent upon the biogenic formation of Mn oxides, though the oxidation rate was not directly proportional to the amount of Mn oxides formed. Chromium(III) oxidation took place through a catalytic pathway, in which the microbes mediated Mn(II) oxidation to form Mn-oxides, and Cr(III) was subsequently oxidized by the biogenic Mn-oxides.  相似文献

Dissolved oxygen (DO) in the Lake Biwa hypolimnion reached its lowest level of <1 mg kg?1 in 2007. In this paper, we report the variations in the total dissolvable (TD), dissolved (D), and labile particulate (LP) fractions of Al, Si, P, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Mo, W, and U in Lake Biwa 2007 and 2009. Al and Fe species were predominantly in the form of LP-Al and LP-Fe and were strongly correlated with one another (r = 0.99), suggesting that the weathering of aluminous minerals and the supply of clay mineral particles are the main factors that influence the distributions of Al and Fe. Although D-Al increased in the summer epilimnion, D-Fe was relatively low, probably as a result of uptake by plants. Reductive release of Fe from the bottom was not seen. Mn was also dominated by LP-Mn, but this fraction showed a different distribution to those of LP-Al and LP-Fe. The D-Mn and LP-Mn concentrations varied by factors of 700–1000 and showed marked increases in the bottom water during stratification in 2007. We believe that Mn2+ was released from the sediments and oxidized by DO in the bottom water. Ni, Cu, Zn, and Cr, which exist as cationic species, had LP/TD ratios of 0.1–0.7 and relatively uniform distributions. Si, P, V, As, Mo, W, and U, which form oxoacid species, had LP/TD ratios of 0–0.8. Si, P, and As were characterized by nutrient-like profiles, V, W, and U showed summer maxima in the epilimnion, and Mo had a uniform distribution. TD-Mo increased in the bottom water along with TD-Mn, while TD-V and TD-W showed significant decreases. These results are likely attributable to differences in the adsorption of these elements onto manganese oxides and iron hydroxides.  相似文献

BackgroundAlthough manganese (Mn) is an essential nutrient, recent research has revealed that excess Mn in early childhood may have adverse effects on neurodevelopment.MethodsWe estimated daily total Mn intake due to breast milk at average body weights by reviewing reported concentrations of breast milk Mn and measurements of body weight and breast milk intake at 3 weeks, 4.25 months, 7 months, and 18 months. We compared these figures to the Mn content measured in 44 infant, follow-up, and toddler formulas purchased in the United States and France. We calculated Mn content of formula products made with ultra-trace elemental analysis grade water (0 μg Mn/L) and with water containing 250 μg Mn/L, a concentration which is relatively high but less than the World Health Organization Health-based value of 400 μg Mn/L or the United States Environmental Protection Agency Health Advisory of 350 μg Mn/L.ResultsEstimated mean daily Mn intake from breast milk ranged from 1.2 μg Mn/kg/day (3 weeks) to 0.16 μg Mn/kg/day (18 months), with the highest intakes at the youngest age stage we considered, 3 weeks. Estimated daily Mn intake from formula products reconstituted with 0 μg Mn/L water ranged from 130 μg Mn/kg/day (3 weeks) to 4.8 μg Mn/kg/day (18 months) with the highest intakes at 3 weeks. Formula products provided 28–520 times greater than the mean daily intake of Mn from breast milk for the 4 age stages that we considered. Estimated daily Mn intake from formula products reconstituted with water containing 250 μg Mn/L ranged from 12 μg Mn/kg/day to 170 μg Mn/kg/day, which exceeds the United States Environmental Protection Agency Reference Dose of 140 μg Mn/kg/day for adults.ConclusionsMn deficiency is highly unlikely with exclusive breast milk or infant formula feeding, but established tolerable daily intake levels for Mn may be surpassed by some of these products when following labeled instructions.  相似文献

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the levels of heavy metals (Al, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn and Pb) in the geochemical fractions of the coastal surface sediments from the Bacochibampo Bay in Sonora, Mexico. Two surveys were conducted (March and September) during 2004, at eight sampling stations inside the bay, and in three natural effluents discharged into this bay. The extraction of metals was carried out using a microwave oven method and the quantification was done by atomic absorption spectro-photometry. The highest detected concentration of total heavy metals in sediments was: Fe>Al>Mn>Pb>Cr>Cu>Cd, with the following concentration values: Fe (1.72%), Al (1.03%), Mn (416.31 mg kg?1), Pb (11.73 mg kg?1), Cr (11.41 mg kg–1), Cu (6.78 mg kg–1) and Cd (1.33 mg kg–1). The levels of total heavy metals (Al, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn and Pb) were much less than the lowest observable effect level (LEL) which indicates that the sediments were not from polluted areas and that the origin of the metals was due to natural conditions. However, concentrations of Cd were much higher than the low effect level (LEL), over 40% of metal was detected in the exchangeable fraction and carbonates. The normalisation study showed a high degree of enrichment of Cd in all the sampling stations in the Bacochibampo Bay (samples EF 34–87) and in the natural flows that discharge into this bay (samples EF 22–35%), which exceeds by several orders of magnitude the value of sample EF 1, which indicates that Cd is anthropogenically induced. Based on these results, it is important that precautionary measures are established, since the deposited Cd in these fractions may be potentially toxic, due to the physicochemical changes that occur in the environment. Thus, future studies will focus on identifying problems involved with Cd bioaccumulation in different trophic levels.  相似文献
