Abstract

A new species, Pleuridium curvisetum, is described. It has an arched seta similar to that of P. arnoldii and was collected, sometimes in association with that species, in alpine country in Australia. P. arnoldii was first recorded from New Zealand. A comparison of the two species revealed some features, including a bistratose margin to the leaf subula, not previously reported for P. arnoldii.  相似文献

A new species of commensal hoplonemertean from Australia   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A new series of hoplonemertean from Australia is described and named Gononemertes australiensis. The morphology of this nemertean, which lives commensally in the ascidian Pyura pachydermatina (Herdman) variety intermedia Herdman, is described and illustrated and its taxonomic placing discussed.  相似文献

A new species of dragonet, Callionymus russelli, is described from Queensland waters. Callionymus russelli may be distinguished from the closely related species, C. punctatus, by the colour patterns of the first dorsal fins, by the smaller size, by the snout length being the same or slightly less than the eye length, by the preopercular spine being slightly longer than the eye, and by the caudal fin length in the female being only slightly longer than the head, and rarely twice the length of the head in the male. From the other Queensland species of Callionymus, its small size will eliminate it from being confused with the majority of species. It differs from C. calliste and C. macdonaldi, the only two of similar size, by having a somewhat pointed snout, different dorsal fin colour patterns, and the distinct body markings of numerous light or dark brown vertical streaks along the sides of the body in males. A revised key to the Australian dragonet species within the genus Callionymus is given.  相似文献

Diploschistes hensseniae Lumbsch & Elix is described as new to science. It is characterized by its terricolous habitat, perithecioid closed ascomata, relatively small spores, cylindrical asci, and the presence of diploschistesic and orsellinic acids in addition to lecanoric acid. It occurs on soil in arid regions of Australia.  相似文献

A new species of Darwinia, D. divisa is described. The species is unique in the genus in having divided prominent calyx lobes and densely hairy floral tube. The species has not been re-collected since the type and only collection in 1965.  相似文献

Despite the commercial and zoonotic importance of larval anisakid infestations of teleosts, their distribution among Australia's diverse marine fish fauna is poorly understood. A preliminary survey of Australia's tropical north-west revealed a generally high prevalence of larval anisakids representing four genera (Anisakis, Terranova, Thynnascaris and Raphidascaris) among only seven fish species. The potential impact of high larval anisakid infections on both the health of recreational fishermen and aquaculture environments is discussed.  相似文献

An undescribed goby has been collected from several localities in the western troplcal Pacific, from Japan to Australia. This species is described as a new species,Fusigobius signiplnnis. It differs from other species ofFusigobius in pectoral ray counts, colouration, largely separate pelvic fins, and shape of the first dorsal fin. The species is found in groups on sand, frequently flicking its first dorsal fin. Males are larger than females in mean size. Sex ratios are uneven, and females are twice as numerous as males.  相似文献

Solanum malacothrix S. Knapp is described from the slopes of the Sierra Madre del Sur in the Río Balsas drainage in the state of Guerrero. It is apparently rare, and has been collected only twice. Its relationship to other species in Mexico and northern South America is discussed.  相似文献

A new species of freshwater triclad, Romankenkius libidinosus sp. nov. , is described from New South Wales, Australia. The species is characterized by a large adenodactyl and unique genito-intestinal connections, and represents the first record of the genus Romankenkius outside Tasmania. The taxonomic and phylogenetic implications of several morphological features of the new species are discussed in the light of a previous phylogenetic study.  相似文献

Gillbeea whypallana sp. nov. is described from the Wet Tropics of North Queensland. This species differs from G. adenopetala in the larger serrate asymmetrical stipules, hirsute leaves and fruits and the number of lateral veindleaflet. Gillbeea adenopetala and G. whypallana both differ from G. papuana in having hairs on the lateral margins of the petals, and in having more than two ovules per carpel. The comparative morphology of the three Gillbeea species is described and illustrated, and the phylogenetic placement of the genus within the Cunoniaceae is discussed briefly.  相似文献
