A representative of the family Apionacaridae is recorded from the passerine birds Passeriformes for the first time. Fringillosphaera bochkovi gen. n., sp. n. is described from the chaffinch Fringilla coelebs (Fringillidae). The new genus obtains main diagnostic characters as follows. Vertical setae vi absent. Prodorsal shield free from scapular sheilds and epimerites Ia. Humeral sheilds present. Epimerites I convergent, connected by sclerotized plate. Lateral setae f2 and pseudanal setae ps3 absent. Coxal fields I-IV sclerotized. In male: legs IV present, genital apparatus at level of trochanters IV, genital arch with divergent branches. Epiandrium absent. Coxal setae 3a absent. Morphological peculiarities, host associations and phylogenetic relationships of the family Apionacaridae are briefly discussed. It is suggested that this family represents and ancient and relic phylogenetic branch, which had split rather early from the common ancestor of the superfamily Analgoidea in the period of formation of the Neognathae birds.  相似文献

Feather mites (Astigmata) are specialized parasites living on the plumage and skin of birds. The paper presents data on infestation of some passerines (Passeriformes) by feather mites in the south of Western Siberia (Omsk and Tyumen Provinces). We found 24 species of feather mites belonging to the families Analgidae, Dermoglyphidae, Pteronyssidae, Trouessartiidae, and Proctophyllodidae on 16 bird species. Among them, 19 species are common parasites of the passerine birds examined; five species were detected on atypical hosts. Ten mite species were recorded for the first time on the passerine species examined. Analysis of the distribution of abundant and common mite species on their hosts has demonstrated that the majority of the bird parasites possess a specific distribution pattern in the host plumage with preference for certain feather types. We have also obtained new data on host associations of several mite species.  相似文献

Four new feather mite species of Vanginyssus Mironov, 2001 are described from vangas (Passeriformes: Vangidae), an endemic passerine family from Madagascar: Vanginyssus euryceros n. sp. from the helmet vanga Euryceros prevostii Lesson, V. madagascarinus n. sp. from the blue vanga Cyanolanius madagascarinus (Linnaeus), V. mystacornis n. sp. from the Crossley’s babbler Mystacornis crossleyi (Grandidier) and V.␣orioliae n. sp. from the Bernier’s vanga Oriolia bernieri Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. Abstract  Titanolichus seemani sp. n., a new species of the genus Titanolichus Gaud & Atyeo, 1996, is described from a museum skin of the endangered orange-bellied parrot Neophema chrysogaster (Latham) (Aves: Psittaciformes) from Australia. We also redescribe the type species Titanolichus chiragricus (Mégnin & Trouessart) from the ground parrot Pezoporus wallicus (Kerr), provide a key for all known species of Titanolichus and point out some problems in the systematics of this genus.  相似文献

Two new genera and species related to Rhytidelasma Gaud, 1966 and Lorilichus Atyeo & Gaud, 1991 are described from the plumage of the red-flanked Lorikeet Charmosyna placentis placentis (Temminck) (Psittacidae). These are Ceratolichus mirabilis n. g., n. sp. and Charmosylichus anamphiestos n. g., n. sp. In addition, an improved diagnosis of Lorilichus is proposed and two new species of this genus are described from the red-flanked lorikeet, L. longiphallos n. sp. and L. paralobiger n. sp.  相似文献

A new species of Ensliniella is described from deutonymphs from two localities in central Japan as the seventh species of the genus. Ensliniella asiatica sp. nov., found in the nests and acarinaria (mite chambers) of the vespid wasp Allodynerus mandschuricus, differs from the most similar species, E. kostylevi, in having a more reduced, shorter, subconical solenidion psi on tibia IV and ensiform setae e and r on tarsus III. It is readily distinguished from the remaining five known congeners in having a solenidion omega2 on tarsus I. This is the second species of Ensliniella known from Japan.  相似文献

Two new feather mite species of the family Pteronyssidae Oudemans, 1941 collected from birds captured in Ivory Coast are described: Pteronyssoides cyanomitrae n. sp. from Cyanomitra obscura (Jardine) (Passeriformes: Nectariniidae) and Conomerus pygmaeus n. sp. from Hylia prasina (Cassin) (Passeriformes: Macrosphenidae). Pteronyssoides cyanomitrae n. sp. belongs to the nectariniae species group and differs from the closest species, P. garioui Gaud & Mouchet, 1959, in having, in males, the adanal shield present and setae f longer than setae d on the tarsus III; females of this species have the hysteronotal shield with two small median incisions on the anterior margin barely extending beyond the level of setae e2. Conomerus pygmaeus n. sp. is the first species of this genus found on a passerine host, and seems to be more similar to C. sclerosternus Gaud, 1990. This new species has the following distinctive characters: in females, the opisthosoma has small lobe-like extensions and the central sclerite is fused posteriorly with the lateral opisthosomal sclerites; in males, coxal fields I–IV lack large sclerotised areas.  相似文献

A new oribatid mite species, Rhynchoribates parafabulosus sp. n., is described from Ecuador. This species is similar to R. fabulosus Beck 1961 (from Peru) in the rostrum structure and the length of prodorsal and notogastral setae. However, it clearly differs from the above species by the absence of thorns on the leg femora, location of adanal lyrifissures, and the structure of notogastral setae.  相似文献

Peregrinacarus falklandensis n. sp., a halacarid mite from an East Falkland creek, is described and illustrated. This is the second Peregrinacarus species to date. The other species, P. reticulatus Bartsch, is recorded from Marion Island, Indian Ocean. The two species differ in chaetotaxy of the legs. The presence of halacarids in freshwater of southern polar and adjacent regions is discussed.  相似文献

Comerinia chuetolamina gen. & sp. nov. was collected from a cargo of dried Daphnia imported to Britain from Mexico. Females can be distinguished from all others described in the family Acaridae in that setae 14, 15 and d5 are flattened dorsoventrally over most of the basal half. This region appears blade-like, bearing numerous strong pectinations along the ventral side. Males may be recognized by a series of characters, some of which reflect a close relationship with Forcellinia Ouds., 1924 and others with Tyrophagus Ouds., 1924. The position of the new genus in a commonly used key to adults of the family Acaridae is indicated.  相似文献

The seasonal dynamics of the Monojoubertia microphylla micropopulations in different sex and age groups of the chaffinch Fringilla coelebs (Passeriformes: Fringillidae) have been studied during the nest and migration periods in the North-West of Russia. Three bird groups were determined within the chaffinch population during the study: adult males, adult females, immature chaffinches. Total number of bird specimens examined--353. In all chaffinch groups, the mean mite numbers and age structure of mite micropopulations were similar during the spring migration. The number of mites gradually increased from April to May. During the nest and autumn migration periods the seasonal dynamics of M. microphylla micropopulations were quite different on adult males and females of the chaffinch, because of different roles of male and female in the process of infestation the young bird generation. On the adult chaffinch males, the mite number continued to increase during the breeding period (June) and began to decrease significantly in July because of the postbreeding plumage moult. The mite number slowly decreased in the end of summer and the autumn migration. On the adult chaffinch females, the mite number decreased abruptly during the nest period. During this period, the chaffinch female sits together with nestlings for a long time, and the great number of its mites (about 60% of mite micropopulation) moves from the female onto the nestlings. The mite micropopulation migrated onto nestling is represented mainly by males, females (about 25% each) and tritonymphs (38%). Total mite number on the chaffinch females continued to decrease in July under the influence of postbreeding moult and slightly increased up to the autumn migration only. On the young chaffinches, the number of M. microphylla quickly increased during the second part of summer. It is the result of the great quota of mite instars being ready for the reproduction (imago, tritonymphs) within the micropopulation migrated from the chaffinch female onto the nestlings. The decrease of the M. microphylla micropopulation on the young birds was observed in the autumn only. In the end autumn migration (October), the mean numbers of mites on all chaffinch groups became approximately similar, but did not reach the mean rate observed in the beginning of the spring migration. During both migration periods, the imago and all preimaginal instars of M. microphylla were active, the diapause was not observed. In the beginning of spring migration and the end of autumn migration the main part of the mite micropopulations was represented by females, while in all other periods of chaffinch's stay in the North-West of Russia the immature instars predominated.  相似文献
