BeiAcanthonchus cobbi, Chromadora macrolaimoides undEuchromadora gaulica ist zweigeschlechtliche Fortpflanzung festgestellt worden.Monohystera parelegantula vermehrt sich parthenogenetisch. Ein möglicherweise durch Umwelteinflüsse bedingter Wechsel von bisexueller und parthenogenetischer Fortpflanzung tritt beiChromadora epidemos undViscosia macramphida auf.

Kurzfassung In Zooiden der marinen BryozoaElectra pilosa (L.) wurden zahlreiche Exemplare des freilebenden NematodenPelagonema obtusicauda Filipjev gefunden. Die Nematoden besiedeln offensichtlich die noch jungen Kolonien, in denen sie auch zur Fortpflanzung gelangen. Die Art der Beziehung zwischen den beiden Organismen bedarf noch weiterer Klärung.

On the formation of butanol-2 by lactic acid bacteria and yeast

Butanol-2 was formed from butanediol-2,3 in a synthetic medium by an asporogenous strain ofSaccharomyces cerevisiae and 6 strains ofLactobacillus brevis. The mesoform of butanediol-2,3 is degraded to butanol-2. The lactic acid bacteria form different amounts of butanol-2 (up to 810 mg/l).

On the taxonomy of an auxotrophic Chlorella isolated from Paramecium bursaria ehrbg

An auxotrophic Chlorella has been isolated from Paramecium bursaria Ehrbg. and cultivated in mass culture in an inorganic medium supplied with vitamins B₁ and B₁₂. With regard to its physiological properties it is not identical with either one of the so far known Chlorella species. It belongs, however, to the group of Chlorella vulgaris f. tertia Fott et Novaková and Chlorella vulgaris var. vulgaris Beijerinck.
