近年,关于种群特征的研究,当首推夏武平等(1982)对长爪沙鼠的种群动态及其调节的研究,国内对种群特征间关系的进一步探研尚不多见,而该工作对动物种群动态的预测是至关重要的。 小家鼠(Mus musculus L.)的种群特征包括诸多方面,如性比、年龄结构、胎仔数、怀孕率和身体大小等,它们的变化均与一定的种群数量相联系,今在过去工作的基础上作一些新的探求。  相似文献

Factors regulating gastrointestinal nematode infrapopulations are to a great extent density-dependent. Here, 23 natural infrapopulations (41-281 individuals) of the viviparous nematode Procamallanus elatensis (Camallanidae) from the fish Siganus rivulatus were found distributed in a well-defined fundamental niche (posterior 55% of the intestine). Immature worms were mostly found in the anterior third of this niche, while mature worms were found in aggregations posterior to them and followed by gravid females in the posterior 20% of the intestine. This distribution strongly suggests that worms migrate towards the posterior intestine while they mature, copulate and reproduce. In small infrapopulations, the sex ratios were distinctly female-biased and the number of gravid females was low. In large infrapopulations, the sex ratios were distinctly male-biased and the number of gravid females was high. However, the mean lengths of both immature males and females and mature females decreased dramatically as the infrapopulation size increased, while those of mature males increased significantly. These results strongly suggest intraspecific competition and density-dependent regulation of mean worm length, and the increase in the mean length of mature males strongly suggests intense sexual selection and competition between mature males. Production of larvae by female worms decreased significantly as the infrapopulation size increased, suggesting a density-dependent reduction in female worm fertility. The results are statistically significant and strongly suggest that infrapopulation self-regulation is through density-dependent mechanisms, in which development of immature worms, infrapopulation size, sex ratio, sexual selection and carrying capacity of the fundamental niche play essential roles in shaping and regulating the infrapopulations.  相似文献

The relationships between larvae and adults of Anisakis from the Mediterranean Sea and North-East Atlantic Ocean were analysed by multilocus electrophoresis. The correspondence of type I larvae with the A. simplex complex, including the sibling species A. simplex A and B, and of type II larvae with A. physeteris is confirmed. 19 of the 22 loci studied discriminated between the two larval types. Biochemical keys are given for the electrophoretic identification of A. simplex A, A. simplex B and A. physeteris, at both the larval and adult stages.  相似文献

Parameters related to the occurrence, aggregation, and population structure of the nematode Contracaecum rudolphii Hartwich, 1964 , in the great cormorant ( Phalacrocorax carbo ) from northeastern Poland were analyzed. A total of 491 birds of different ages (adults, immatures, and nestlings) was examined; the cormorants studied were taken from both fresh- and brackish water habitats. Contracaecum rudolphii were found in stomachs of 454 birds (92.5%); the 46,244 nematodes included third- (L3) and fourth-stage larvae (L4), and sub-adult and adult females and males. The distribution of nematodes in the host population were highly aggregated. The occurrence of C. rudolphii was significantly dependent on the host's age and habitat, as well as on season; the proportion of development stages differed significantly depending on birds' age and season (the latter only in adult birds). The infrapopulations of C. rudolphii in the adult cormorants showed distinct density-dependent correlations: that is, as the infrapopulation size increased, the number of adult females C. rudolphii decreased, and the proportion of larvae and sub-adult females increased. A higher proportion of larvae and sub-adult females characterized the component population structure of the nematodes in the cormorant nestlings, compared with adult birds, probably because of immune system deficiency in the immature birds, coupled with the development of the nematode population. Seasonal changes in the C. rudolphii population, observed in the adult cormorants, were not related to seasonality of the L3 occurrence in food; instead, the changes are believed to have resulted from independent processes of elimination of the oldest nematodes and their replacement by larval stages that subsequently matured.  相似文献

In temperate waters of the NE Atlantic, third-stage larvae of Anisakis simplex sensu stricto collected from 3 paratenic host species were identified by restriction fragment length polymorphisms. The condition of wild larval infrapopulations was assessed by examining morphometric and growth characteristics. The differentiation patterns and the excretory/secretory products of larvae grown in vitro were also examined. An extensive morphometric, growth and differentiation variability was found between parasite larvae collected from different paratenic host sources. Nematode infrapopulation larvae from the squid comprise those smaller individuals with the lowest values of survival rates and moult success. It may be then concluded that the fitness of A. simplex s. str. larvae is not the best possible in the squid, which impaired the competitiveness of the parasite and its chances of developing into an adult. This suggests that the microenvironments impaired by the paratenic host may provide larval infrapopulations with unique ecological factors probably influencing its recruitment to the final host populations.  相似文献

Taenia crassiceps cysticerci form large infrapopulations that persist in the tissues of their rodent hosts. Early infrapopulation growth appears inhibited and is followed by rapid increases that appear not to be controlled by the host immune response. This investigation was undertaken to examine the infrapopulation growth dynamics of a normally developing strain (WFU) of T. crassiceps during a 60-day primary intraperitoneal (i.p.) infection. Three, 6, 9, 14, 28, and 60 days after i.p. inoculation of 5 cysticerci, mice were killed, and the numbers of larvae, developmental stage, and buds per larva were recorded. Larval infrapopulation abundance increased exponentially beginning on day 6 postinoculation (PI), indicating an initial lag in reproduction. A stage-structured exponential growth model, assuming no mortality, fits the larval infrapopulation dynamics in terms of the numbers of larvae in reproductive and nonreproductive stages, indicating that cysticerci evade or suppress (or both) host immune mechanisms that are parasite restrictive after the first week of infection.  相似文献

The main goal of this study was to evaluate the relative influence of season, year of study, host body size, and host sex on abundance of helminth species parasitic in the frog Scinax nasicus. A total of 273 frogs was collected between December 2004 and November 2006 over all seasons in Corrientes City, Province of Corrientes, Argentina. Helminth community included 21 taxa, and was dominated particularly by larval trematodes. Infected frogs harboured a maximum of 7 species. Host sex and season played no significant effect in determining infracommunity parasite species abundance. Similarly, species richness was similar for both host sexes, and across time (year and season). However, occurrence of the parasites Opisthogonimus sp. 2 and Travtrema aff. stenocotyle greatly varied over time. Host body size was the main factor for determining infrapopulation structure of Centrorhynchus sp. Species richness was significantly and positively correlated with host body size. Strong associations were observed mainly between metacercariae of some species. The transmission strategies of parasites suggest that this hylid acquires infections by ingestion of infective larvae and through direct contact with larval parasites from aquatic and terrestrial habitats.  相似文献

【目的】囊状幼虫病病毒(sacbrood virus, SBV)是严重危害中华蜜蜂Apis cerana cerana蜂群健康和种群数量的病原微生物,但其对蜜蜂的致死机制不明。本研究旨在探究SBV对不同发育阶段中华蜜蜂营养代谢和免疫的影响。【方法】分别给中华蜜蜂2日龄幼虫和新羽化成虫饲喂SBV,逐日统计死亡蜜蜂数量,检测病毒对蜜蜂存活的影响;利用qPCR检测中华蜜蜂4日龄幼虫、预蛹以及10和20日龄成虫体内SBV RNA、营养代谢基因(ilp1, ilp2, hex110, hex70b, hex70c和vg)、先天性病毒免疫基因(rel, toll, apidaecin, abaecin, defensin, hymenoptaecin, jra, key和state92e)、细胞凋亡基因(atg7和LOC100577876)和抗RNA病毒基因(dis3和dicer)的表达水平。【结果】 SBV感染显著降低了中华蜜蜂幼虫的存活率,但对成虫的生存影响不明显。SBV RNA在中华蜜蜂4日龄幼虫和预蛹体内的表达量显著高于其在10和20日龄成虫体内的表达量。SBV显著降低了中华蜜蜂幼虫营养代谢基因ilp1, ilp2, hex110, hex70b和hex70c以及成虫营养代谢基因vg和hex110的表达量,但显著提高了4日龄幼虫rel, toll, apidaecin, abaecin, defensin, hymenoptaecin和jra以及成虫key和 state92e等先天性病毒免疫基因的表达量,还引起预蛹体内的细胞凋亡基因atg7和LOC100577876的表达量显著增加。【结论】SBV在中华蜜蜂幼虫和预蛹体内的感染水平远高于在成虫体内的,其对幼虫的危害也大于对成虫。SBV显著影响了中华蜜蜂正常的营养代谢,染毒中华蜜蜂能够提高自身的免疫水平来应对;预蛹期中华蜜蜂幼虫细胞凋亡水平的显著增加可能与化蛹异常及死亡有关。  相似文献

Summary: Biased sex ratios may alter the contribution that individuals of either sex make to group living. Such a possibility has not been examined in social spiders, in part as adult male spider anatomy and behaviour are focussed on mating. Subadult male behaviour was examined in two congener social crab spiders that have similar ecological niches, Diaea ergandros with an equal sex ratio and D. socialis with a female-biased sex ratio. A laboratory experiment that varied sex ratios of groups of subadults of the two species found that nest construction in D. ergandros did not vary with sex ratio, but that of D. socialis did as males did not contribute to nest construction. This may suggest that among social species, biased sex ratios might influence the appearance of drone-like behaviour.  相似文献

Synopsis Sex ratios of least brook lamprey,Lampetra aepyptera, larvae varied widely among 12 geographically-diverse streams of the eastern United States. The extremes were 29 and 71% male, and the proportion of males increased significantly with relative population density, which was estimated among the streams from the number of larvae collected per m2 of substrate. The skewed sex ratios were not likely due to differential mortality between the sexes or differential recruitment to the adult stock, since they were established at the time of gonadal differentiation (at ca. 2 years of age) and remained relatively constant over the subsequent 2–3 years of larval life. Furthermore, although females seemed to predominate in the oldest larval age class, thus appearing to metamorphose later than males, their numbers were small and were omitted from the overall sex ratio. Sex ratio did not vary significantly with water hardness, pH, annual thermal units, or latitude. The possible adaptive significance of density-dependent sex determination in lampreys, however, remains elusive. It has been proposed that growth-promoting conditions might yield female-biased sex ratios as a tactic for ensuring that relatively large individuals become females, thereby increasing their fecundity. As predicted, larval size at a given age was generally greater in low-density populations, but there was no relationship between sex ratio and larval size, and female larvae were not consistently larger than the males.  相似文献

1.  The Trivers–Willard model of optimal sex ratios predicts that in polygynous species mothers in better condition should produce more male than female offspring. However, empirical support for this hypothesis in mammals and especially ungulates has been equivocal. This may be because the fitness of mothers has been defined in different ways, reflecting morphological, physiological or behavioural measures of condition. In addition, factors other than maternal condition can influence a mother's fitness. Given that recent studies of wild ungulates have demonstrated the importance of the timing of conception and birth on offspring fitness, litters conceived at different stages of the rut might be expected to exhibit differences in types and embryonic sex ratio.
2.  Based on a 6-year survey of the reproductive tracts of female moose harvested in Estonia, we investigated the effect of conception date on the types of litters produced and on the foetal sex ratio.
3.  There was a clear relationship between conception date and litter characteristics. Overall, earlier conceived litters were more likely than those conceived late to contain multiple embryos and a high proportion of males. However, while foetal sex ratio varied nonlinearly with conception date in yearlings and subadults, no relationship was found in adults.
4.  We conclude that female moose adjust foetal sex ratio and litter type/size depending on their age and the date of conception, and that these adjustments are in accordance with the Trivers–Willard hypothesis if females that conceive earlier are in better condition.  相似文献

Chitin was assayed in adults of nine anostracan species (Streptocephalus dichotomus, S. proboscideus, S. simplex, S. torvicornis, Thamnocephalus platyurus, Dendrocephalus brasiliensis, Chirocephalus diaphanus, Artemia salina and Branchipus schaefferi) using a highly specific enzymatic method. Cysts of A. salina, T. platyurus and larvae of A. salina and S. simplex were also analysed for their chitin content. The results demonstrated a weak interspecific variation in chitin content among the adults. On the whole, it ranged from 9 to 33 mg chitin (g dry mass)−1. In most species, the chitin level was not significantly different between males and females. In contrast, chitin levels varied significantly between cysts, larvae and adults within species. Comparison of the chitin content of anostracans revealed a comparable or lower chitin level than other crustaceans. The effect of simulated plant stress and parasitism by Aphelinus abdominalis (Dalman) on the mobility of four species of aphids was investigated. The aphids were placed on water stressed potted plants or on excised leaf segments on dry or moist filter-paper in Petri dishes. Winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) was infested with Metopolophium dirhodum (Walker), Sitobion avenae (F.) and Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (segments only), aubergine (Solanum melongena) leaf segments with Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Thomas). The aphids that moved off the plants were removed and their development stage determined at 24-h (drought-stressed plants) or 3-h (leaf segments) intervals. On intact plants, aphid larvae were reluctant to move, and only moved after moulting into adults. On cut leaves, young 1st and 2nd instar larvae were more reluctant to move than 3rd and 4th instar larvae and adults. The numbers moving were initially positively correlated with aphid population density, and in M. euphorbiae occurred mainly during the night. Depending on aphid species and parasitoid age, parasitism by A. abdominalis retarded or accelerated movement, but the differences between young and old larvae and adults persisted after parasitism. A. abdominalis lays male eggs in small hosts and female eggs in large hosts. Consequently, its sex ratio was affected by differential movement of the host aphids of the male and female parasitoids. Old larvae and adult aphids readily moved and carried off female parasitoids, while the small aphids were more likely to remain and give rise to male-biased sex ratios.  相似文献

In hermaphroditic helminth parasites, infrapopulation size or mating group size mostly affects some processes acting within the infrapopulation. Here, 30 natural infrapopulations (12-154 individuals) of the intestinal trematode Gyliauchen volubilis Nagaty, 1956 from the fish Siganus rivulatus consisting of newly excysted juveniles, immature and mature worms were found distributed in a well-defined fundamental niche (anterior 40% of the intestine). In small infrapopulations, all stages of the parasite were alive. In larger infrapopulations, differential mortality was only and consistently observed among newly excysted juveniles, and gradually increased to include most or all juveniles in the largest infrapopulations. Among mature worms, the mean worm length seemed unaffected by the infrapopulation size. However, the ratio mean testis size-mean ovary size, a reliable indicator of resource allocation to the male function and of opportunities for cross fertilization, significantly increased with mating group size. In small infrapopulations, all stages of the parasite were scattered along the niche, and never seen in mating pairs (possibly reproduced by self-fertilization). In larger infrapopulations, newly excysted juveniles and immature worms were scattered along the anterior two thirds of the niche, while mature worms were constantly found aggregated in its posterior third (narrow microhabitat), where some were arranged in mating pairs. The probability of mating reciprocally or unilaterally was dependent on body size. The mean number of uterine eggs per worm significantly decreased and their mean sizes significantly increased with mating group size. The results are statistically significant and suggest that infrapopulation self-regulation is greatly associated with its size.  相似文献

One hundred and seventeen ponies were surveyed for the seasonal prevalence of strongyloid parasites, particularly cyathostomes, and for host- and age-related differences in these infections. For 56 ponies, all stages of the cyathostome life cycle, both mucosal and luminal, were enumerated. Total numbers of cyathostomes and percentage of developing larvae (DL) encysted in the mucosa remained constant in all 4 seasons of the year, whereas a significant increase in the percentage of adults in the cyathostome population occurred in fall. In yearling ponies, encysted early third-stage larvae constituted a significantly lower percentage of the cyathostome population, and DL and adults formed a significantly higher percentage, compared with those stages in older ponies, 2-5 yr of age. More species of cyathostomes were present in yearling ponies than in older ponies. Significant differences occurred in fecal egg counts at different seasons of the year, even though adult cyathostome and large strongyle numbers remained constant. Twenty-four species of cyathostomes were found year-round, and 2 rare species were found in only 2 or 3 seasons of the year. Prevalences for these 24 species were not significantly different during any season, although 5 species had significant differences in intensity levels of infection in certain seasons of the year. Three species of large strongyle (strongylinae) adults had significant seasonal variations in intensities. These were Strongylus edentatus and S. vulgaris, which occurred in significantly higher numbers in summer and fall, and Triodontophorus brevicauda, which was more numerous in spring and summer. Fourth- and fifth-stage larvae of S. vulgaris recovered from the mesenteric vasculature were significantly more numerous in winter and spring than in other seasons.  相似文献

通过粘虫Mythimna separata幼虫密度(1头/瓶、20头/瓶、40头/瓶)对成虫水分、甘油酯和糖原含量影响的研究结果。不同幼虫密度处理的初羽化成虫水分含量无明显差异,但1~5日龄40头/瓶的雄蛾及1~3日龄雌蛾高于单头处理的;20、40头/瓶的初羽化成虫甘油酯含量没有显著的差异,但均显著地高于单头饲养的;20头/瓶羽化的雌、雄成虫l~5日龄甘油酯含量随日龄的增加而增加,到5日龄达到最大值后才开始下降,40头/瓶的在3日龄达到最大值后即开始下降,而单头饲养羽化的在1日龄达到较高值,2日龄降至最低后再缓慢回升。幼虫密度对初羽化成虫及1~7日龄雄蛾的糖原含量没有显著的影响,但20、40头/瓶条件下羽化的1~7日龄雌蛾糖原含量随日龄的增加而增加,而单头饲养的则随日龄的 增加而下降。这些结果表明幼虫密度不仅影响到初羽化成虫能源物质的含量,而且也可能影响到成虫能源物质特别是甘油酯的代谢。  相似文献

Tipula iridescent virus (TIV) is infective to all four larval instars, pupae, and adults of both sexes of Tipula oleracea, and iridescence has been observed in infected insects at all these stages. Third- and fourth-instar larvae were more resistant to ingested TIV than first and second instars. When TIV was injected into the hemocoel, the results suggested a possible decrease in resistance from the third larval instar to the pupa. Incubation periods (times from injection of TIV to appearance of iridescence) were significantly shorter in older fourth-instar larvae than in younger fourth-instar or thirdinstar larvae, but variability in incubation period was significantly greater in younger fourth-instar larvae than in the other two stages. Many insects which were inoculated with TIV in one stage developed iridescence and died in later stages. The amounts of infective TIV in two infected adults were estimated.  相似文献

This study documents horizontal distribution and demography of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) from the Southern Ocean during January–March 2008. The cruise predominantly occurred in CCAMLR Subarea 48.6, where knowledge about the ecosystem is limited. E. superba were not found north of 52°S. The biomass, estimated from trawl catches, was highest (63.09 g/m2) at a station 680 km southeast of Bouvetøya and at two stations 1,400 and 600 km southeast and southwest of Bouvetøya, 54.67 and 61.38 g/m2, respectively. Body length ranged from 19 to 61 mm (N = 8,538), with a mean of 42.0 ± 6.4 mm (SD). The overall sex ratio was 1:1, 46.2% males (13.2% adults and 33.0% subadults), 46.1% females (33.6% adults and 12.5% subadults), while 7.5% were juveniles. Trawl stations dominated by adults were found west and north of Bouvetøya. Stations with high proportions of subadults and juveniles were mainly found southeast of the island. Four cluster groups were differentiated: analyzing data on krill sex proportions, maturity stages, hydrography, nutrients and chlorophyll concentrations. Two groups represented stations located in the northern part of the study area, where E. superba were absent; water temperatures were higher and the nutrient concentrations lower compared to the groups where E. superba were present. This study shows that bathymetric features like the North Weddell Ridge including Bouvetøya are important for concentrating krill probably due to water mass characteristics and advective processes which influence regional krill demography. The southern regions of CCAMLR sector 48.6 are essential for understanding regional krill recruitment and production.  相似文献

Haplodiploid species display extraordinary sex ratios. However, a differential investment in male and female offspring might also be achieved by a differential provisioning of eggs, as observed in birds and lizards. We investigated this hypothesis in the haplodiploid spider mite Tetranychus urticae, which displays highly female-biased sex ratios. We show that egg size significantly determines not only larval size, juvenile survival and adult size, but also fertilization probability, as in marine invertebrates with external fertilization, so that female (fertilized) eggs are significantly larger than male (unfertilized) eggs. Moreover, females with on average larger eggs before fertilization produce a more female-biased sex ratio afterwards. Egg size thus mediates sex-specific egg provisioning, sex and offspring sex ratio. Finally, sex-specific egg provisioning has another major consequence: male eggs produced by mated mothers are smaller than male eggs produced by virgins, and this size difference persists in adults. Virgin females might thus have a (male) fitness advantage over mated females.  相似文献

Four groups of squirrel monkeys were observed to determine the primary basis of adult group structure. These studies included observations on (1) intact and gonadectomized males and females during and after breeding; (2) intact adults only; (3) subadults only; and, (4) a mixed group of adults and subadults. The spatial distribution of subjects in each group was used as a basic measure of social organization. It was found that for adults, regardless of hormonal status, between-sex distances were consistently greater than within-sex distances. This sexually segregated adult structure was largely attributable to the females' attaction to one another and overt rejection of the males. Subadults by themselves did not show any clear sexual segregation. However, in the presence of an adult structure, the subadults gradually manifested the segregated pattern of the adults by gravitating toward same-sex adults. These results indicate that the socialization process, rather than endogenous hormonal status, is the major determinant of adult social structure in squirrel monkeys.  相似文献
