The activity of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase was determined in liver homogenates derived from various animals belonging to different phylogenetic groups. Although gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase was present in all livers studied, the activity varied greatly, with the order of activity being: guinea pig much greater than frog much greater than rabbit greater than toad greater than dog congruent to cat = duck greater than hamster = budgerigar = goldfish congruent to rat = mouse. There was no trend with respect to enzyme activity, phylogeny, diet, or habitat.  相似文献

The functional differences of blood serum albumin of some animal species have been studied using the spectral luminescent method by comparing the binding constants K and the concentration of binding sites N of rhodamine B and rhodanmine S to albumin. The leptospirocidal activity of 5 animal species against L. interrogans, L. biflexa and L. kazachstanica I and II, belonging to different serogroups and serovars, was studied. Cattle and sheep sera had no lytic effect on 36.9-40.1% of pathogenic Leptospira strains, but other pathogenic strains, as well as saprophytes, were lyzed by these sera. L. pomona and L. grippotyphosa exhibited high resistance to cattle serum, the latter being also resistant to sheep serum.  相似文献

1. The inducibility of hepatic cytosolic aldehyde dehydrogenase activity was studied in rat, mouse, guinea pig, chicken, frog, salamander and rainbow trout, by using two different types of inducers of drug metabolism. 2. Phenobarbital (a type I inducer of drug metabolizing enzymes) increased total liver cytosolic aldehyde dehydrogenase activity (up to 20-fold) in a genetically defined substrain of responsive rats (RR) and only slightly, if at all, in a non-responsive substrain (rr). On the contrary, both types of rats showed a highly induced aldehyde dehydrogenase activity after treatment with methylcholanthrene (a type II inducer). Phenobarbital is affecting mainly an isozyme of aldehyde dehydrogenase which is best measured with propionaldehyde as the substrate and NAD as the coenzyme (P/NAD). 3. Administration of phenobarbital to mice produced only a slight increase (2-fold) in the P/NAD aldehyde dehydrogenase activity. 4. Methylcholanthrene treatment caused a 2-fold increase of the hepatic P/NAD aldehyde dehydrogenase activity in the chicken. 5. In the guinea pig, phenobarbital produced an approximate 3-fold increase of the P/NAD activity. Methylcholanthrene had a similar effect, although to a lesser extent. 6. In the salamander, a 4-fold increase was detected in the enzyme activity measured with benzaldehyde as the substrate and NADP as the coenzyme (B/NADP), after treatment with either phenobarbital or methylcholanthrene. 7. The hepatic aldehyde dehydrogenase activities were found unchanged in the rainbow trout, after treatment with phenobarbital or 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin. 8. The rat model remains the only one examined that shares with human hepatocytes strong inducibility of the B/NADP aldehyde dehydrogenase isozyme upon treatment with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.  相似文献

During plant tissue culture, the culture container is small and sealed; the concentration of CO2 in the microenvironment is relatively low. The plantlet growth is restrained for the shortage of CO2 in the culture container. Carbonic anhydrase is a zinc-containing metalloenzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of bicarbonate to CO2. The determination of carbonic anhydrase of leaves from Atractylodes lancea (thunb.) DC, Orychophragmus violaceus (L.) O.E. Schulz, Brassica juncea (L.) Czern.et Coss. cv. Luzhousileng, Brassica campestris L. cv. Chuanyou No.8, Brassica napus L cv. Oro, Brassica carinata Braun, Raphanus sativa L. var. raphanistroides Makino and their plantlets indicates that the carbonic anhydrase activity of leaves from both plantlets and fields varies from plant species to plant species, the carbonic anhydrase activity of leaves of Atractylodes lancea (thunb.) DC is the lowest among those plants, and the leaves of all plantlets are lower in carbonic anhydrase activity than the same species of plants from fields. The comparison of the growth rates of those plantlets shows that their relative growth rates are significantly different, plantlets of Atractylodes lancea have the slowest relative growth rate among those plants, and plantlets of Brassica juncea have the greatest relative growth rate. The relationship between RGR of plantlets and their CA activities is a significant linear function. It seems that there was certain correlation between carbonic anhydrase activities of plants and their growth rates. It suggests that in vitro, the greater the carbonic anhydrase activity of plantlet is, the higher its net photosynthetic rate, and the faster its growth rate. Those results offer a foundation to a rational medium choice in plant tissue culture.  相似文献

1. The acidic and neutral glycoproteins secreted by cultured tracheal explants from pigs, sheep, rats, mice, monkeys, guinea pigs, dogs and chickens were purified and fractionated by column chromatography on DEAE-cellulose and by electrophoresis on cellulose acetate. 2. The ratios of acidic to neutral mucus glycoproteins were compared for the above animals with that of mucus glycoproteins secreted by cultured human bronchi. 3. The observed ratios of acidic to neutral glycoproteins ranged from 4.0 (mouse) to 7.2 (chicken and pig) from cultured tracheae; secreted human bronchial mucus had a ratio of 2.7. 4. The ratio of acidic to neutral glycoproteins secreted by tracheal explants varied with duration of incubation of the trachea in culture.  相似文献

1. Plasma membranes of comparable yield and purity were isolated from the livers of various animal species belonging to phylogenetic groups from Amphibia to Mammalia. 2. Calcium transport activity was observed in all liver plasma membranes examined. 3. No phylogenetic pattern of expression of the liver plasma membrane calcium transport system was observed, with the order of activity being: guinea pig greater than rabbit greater than frog greater than chicken = hamster greater than rat = budgerigar = turtle greater than beef cattle greater than mouse = duck. 4. Calcium transport activity was only 9.7 and 8.7% of adult frog levels in plasma membranes isolated from the livers of tadpoles without and with limbs, respectively. 5. Liver plasma membrane calcium transport activity was 25% higher in adult chickens than in day-old chicks. 6. A possible role for thyroid hormone in the development of the liver plasma membrane calcium transport system is discussed.  相似文献
