Long-chain polyprenols in gymnosperm plants   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Over 100 species of gymnosperm plants were checked for the presence of long chain polyprenols. Poly-cis long chain prenols, mainly as acetates, were found in green needles of about 60 species. In Cycadopsida either prenol-18 or prenol-20 were the main components of the natural polyprenol mixture. In Coniferopsida either a single polyprenol family was present like in all species of Pinaceae, or polyprenols consisted of two families differing in the size of polyprenol molecules: one family in which prenol-17 was the dominating component, and the other family of prenol-23. These complex mixtures of polyprenols were present in Araucariaceae, Cupressaceae, Taxodiaceae and also in Taxopsida. Seasonal variations were observed in the polyprenol content in green leaves.  相似文献

Polyprenols are accumulated in the leaves of Potentilla anserina at concentration up to 0.3% fresh weight. They constitute a mixture of poly-cis fully unsaturated analogues of up to 29 isoprene units long. In this and other species of Potentilla the polyprenol mixture is composed of two families, one grouping the medium chain-length polyprenols (built up of about 20 isoprene units), and the second one, composed mainly of very long prenolgues from 24 to approx. 28 isoprene units. This is a first report on the occurrence of polyprenyl alcohols of this chain length in plant material and the first one on the presence of multiple polyprenol mixture in angiosperms. A useful modification of polyprenols preparation from plant material, based on solid phase extraction with hydrophobic gel Lipidex-5000 is described.  相似文献

A strategy for screening plants for ecdysteroid content based on the ‘positive tribe’ principle is developed and applied, for the first time, to screen the flora of European North-East Russia to identify species which accumulate ecdysteroids; 700 samples representing 411 species from 380 genera of 82 families were investigated. It is established that species with moderate to high ecdysteroid content (detectable with the Drosophila melanogaster BII cell bioassay) are not numerous (4% of all screened species). They are found in 14 families of different kinship level. Within families, ecdysteroid-containing plants form groups of closely cognate species (within certain tribes and/or genera); most ecdysteroid-containing species in this study were present in the tribe Cardueae (within the Asteraceae) and in the tribe Lychnideae (within the Caryophyllaceae). Radioimmunoassay, using an ecdysteroid-specific antiserum, allowed us to detect trace amounts of phytoecdysteroids (0.1–0.5 μg ecdysone equivalents/g plant matter) below the threshold detectable by the insect ecdysteroid receptor-based bioassay. It was found that such trace amounts of ecdysteroids are typical of many of the other plant species tested. We propose that a positive response in the bioassay is an appropriate criterion for detecting species with ecdysteroid content sufficient for protecting the plant against non-adapted phytophagous insects. Analysis of the geographical distribution of ecdysteroid-containing species (as detected by the bioassay) reveals that many of them belong to the southern or polyzonal latitudinal groups. This supports the impact of ecological–geographical factors upon ecdysteroid distribution in plants.  相似文献

Leaves of twelve species of the genus Capparis were examined for the presence of long chain polyisoprenoid alcohols. In a number of species the accumulation of polyisoprenoid alcohols was up to about 0.3% of dry weight of tissue. In all studied species polyisoprenoid alcohols composed of 12, 13, 14 or 15 isoprene residues formed the main polyprenol family. In the majority of the plants studied lower quantities of an additional polyprenol family were present, in which prenologues composed of 19, 20 or 21 isoprene units were dominating. In one species--Capparis coriacea also the presence of dolichol-like polyprenols with a hydrogenated OH-terminal isoprene unit was documented.  相似文献

The natural occurrence of jasmonic acid and its methyl ester in plants has been studied using different methods such as GC, GC-MS, HPLC, radioimmunoassay, and bioassay. Jasmonic acid was detected in several Leguminosae plants and a number of species belonging to nine other Angiospermae families. Highest amounts occurred in fruit parts, especially the immature pericarp, but it was found also in flowers and vegetative plant parts, e.g. leaves, stems, and germs. Young apple fruits contain both jasmonic acid and methyl jasmonate, and in Douglas fir, the only Gymnospermae species studied, only the methyl ester could be detected. Jasmonic acid is discussed as an endogenous plant growth regulator widely distributed in higher plants.  相似文献

Freezing injury is a major factor limiting the geographical distribution of plant species and the growth and yield of crop plants. Plants from temperate climates are able to increase their freezing tolerance during exposure to low but non‐freezing temperatures in a process termed cold acclimation. Damage to cellular membranes is the major cause of freezing injury in plants, and membrane lipid composition is strongly modified during cold acclimation. Forward and reverse genetic approaches have been used to probe the role of specific lipid‐modifying enzymes in the freezing tolerance of plants. In the present paper we describe an alternative ecological genomics approach that relies on the natural genetic variation within a species. Arabidopsis thaliana has a wide geographical range throughout the Northern Hemisphere with significant natural variation in freezing tolerance that was used for a comparative analysis of the lipidomes of 15 Arabidopsis accessions using ultra‐performance liquid chromatography coupled to Fourier‐transform mass spectrometry, allowing the detection of 180 lipid species. After 14 days of cold acclimation at 4°C the plants from most accessions had accumulated massive amounts of storage lipids, with most of the changes in long‐chain unsaturated triacylglycerides, while the total amount of membrane lipids was only slightly changed. Nevertheless, major changes in the relative amounts of different membrane lipids were also evident. The relative abundance of several lipid species was highly correlated with the freezing tolerance of the accessions, allowing the identification of possible marker lipids for plant freezing tolerance.  相似文献

Large amounts of fully unsaturated, mainly-cis, higher isoprenoid alcohols consisting of 17-30 isoprene units were found in several plants of the Rosaceae family. They occur as mixtures of several prenologues with either C85 - or C100 - prenol dominating in the form of acetates. The highest level of these polyprenols (0.5-1.0% of wet weight) were found in Crataegus crus- galli , Cotonoaster lucida, Prunus serotina and Sorbus suecica (intermedia). Their content increased with increasing age of the leaves. The dynamics of this rise is different from that observed in the case of accumulation of free C50- C60 - prenols (up to 0.5% of wet weight) in leaves of various plant species.  相似文献

The long chain polyprenols composed of 30 and more isoprene units from leaves of plants belonging to the genera Potentilla and Rosa have been described. They occur in the form of fatty acid esters. The composition of polyprenol mixture was species dependent and its content reached ca. 0.5% wet weight. Large scale preparation of individual polyprenols from a natural polyprenol mixture was performed using time-extended liquid chromatography on the hydrophobic gel Lipidex-5000.  相似文献

Transfer of fatty acids from phospholipids to polyprenols, catalysed by the transacylase from rat liver microsomes, was investigated. The specificity of the enzyme for polyprenols of different chain length and different degree of saturation was studied using individual isoprenologues, the preparation of which in highly tritiated form is described. It was found that short-chain polyprenols are better substrates for the enzyme than long-chain polyprenols, and alpha-saturated better than unsaturated or multiply saturated polyprenols. Short-chain, alpha-saturated single isoprenologues were several-fold more active as acyl acceptors than natural dolichol.  相似文献

白云山位于浙江省丽水市境内, 自然植被保存完好, 植物种类丰富, 据统计共有野生种子植物117 科、421 属、831 种。其中10 种以上的科有21 个, 498 种, 233 属, 构成了白云山植物区系的主体。本区系历史起源古老, 区域单型属与寡种属共计405 个, 占属总数的96.2%;我国特有分布贫乏, 珍稀濒危植物丰富;地理成分复杂, 可划分为14 个分布区类型13 个变型, 泛热带成分丰富, 温带成分优势明显, 属亚热带向暖温带过渡的地带。  相似文献

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Plant cyanogenesis is the release of toxic cyanide from endogenous cyanide-containing compounds, typically cyanogenic glycosides. Despite a large body of phytochemical, taxonomic and ecological work on cyanogenic species, little is known of their frequency in natural plant communities. This study aimed to investigate the frequency of cyanogenesis in Australian tropical rainforests. Secondary aims were to quantify the cyanogenic glycoside content of tissues, to investigate intra-plant and intra-population variation in cyanogenic glycoside concentration and to appraise the potential chemotaxonomic significance of any findings in relation to the distribution of cyanogenesis in related taxa. METHODS: All species in six 200 m(2) plots at each of five sites across lowland, upland and highland tropical rainforest were screened for cyanogenesis using Feigl-Anger indicator papers. The concentrations of cyanogenic glycosides were accurately determined for all cyanogenic individuals. KEY RESULTS: Over 400 species from 87 plant families were screened. Overall, 18 species (4.5 %) were cyanogenic, accounting for 7.3 % of total stem basal area. Cyanogenesis has not previously been reported for 17 of the 18 species, 13 of which are endemic to Australia. Several species belong to plant families or orders in which cyanogenesis has been little reported, if at all (e.g. Elaeocarpaceae, Myrsinaceae, Araliaceae and Lamiaceae). A number of species contained concentrations of cyanogenic glycosides among the highest ever reported for mature leaves-up to 5.2 mg CN g(-1) d. wt, for example, in leaves of Elaeocarpus sericopetalus. There was significant variation in cyanogenic glycoside concentration within individuals; young leaves and reproductive tissues typically had higher cyanogen content. In addition, there was substantial variation in cyanogenic glycoside content within populations of single species. CONCLUSIONS: This study expands the limited knowledge of the frequency of cyanogenesis in natural plant communities, includes novel reports of cyanogenesis among a range of taxa and characterizes patterns in intra-plant and intra-population variation of cyanogensis.  相似文献

Various species and cultivars of Ericaceae family were checked for the presence of long-chain polyprenols in their leaves. In the genus Rhododendron no polyprenols were found in the ever-green species, while they were present in the deciduous type. The polyprenols were of chain-length of 14-20 isoprene residues and they occurred in the form of acetic acid esters. The polyprenol accumulation is discussed with respect to senescence of leaves.  相似文献

There are a large number of ‘non‐family’ (NF) genes that do not cluster into families with three or more members per genome. While gene families have been extensively studied, a systematic analysis of NF genes has not been reported. We performed comparative studies on NF genes in 14 plant species. Based on the clustering of protein sequences, we identified ~94 000 NF genes across these species that were divided into five evolutionary groups: Viridiplantae wide, angiosperm specific, monocot specific, dicot specific, and those that were species specific. Our analysis revealed that the NF genes resulted largely from less frequent gene duplications and/or a higher rate of gene loss after segmental duplication relative to genes in both low‐copy‐number families (LF; 3–10 copies per genome) and high‐copy‐number families (HF; >10 copies). Furthermore, we identified functions enriched in the NF gene set as compared with the HF genes. We found that NF genes were involved in essential biological processes shared by all plant lineages (e.g. photosynthesis and translation), as well as gene regulation and stress responses associated with phylogenetic diversification. In particular, our analysis of an Arabidopsis protein–protein interaction network revealed that hub proteins with the top 10% most connections were over‐represented in the NF set relative to the HF set. This research highlights the roles that NF genes may play in evolutionary and functional genomics research.  相似文献

Rosmarinic acid is an ester of caffeic acid and 3,4-dihydroxyphenyllactic acid. It is commonly found in species of the Boraginaceae and the subfamily Nepetoideae of the Lamiaceae. However, it is also found in species of other higher plant families and in some fern and hornwort species. Rosmarinic acid has a number of interesting biological activities, e.g. antiviral, antibacterial, antiinflammatory and antioxidant. The presence of rosmarinic acid in medicinal plants, herbs and spices has beneficial and health promoting effects. In plants, rosmarinic acid is supposed to act as a preformed constitutively accumulated defence compound. The biosynthesis of rosmarinic acid starts with the amino acids L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine. All eight enzymes involved in the biosynthesis are known and characterised and cDNAs of several of the involved genes have been isolated. Plant cell cultures, e.g. from Coleus blumei or Salvia officinalis, accumulate rosmarinic acid in amounts much higher than in the plant itself (up to 36% of the cell dry weight). For this reason a biotechnological production of rosmarinic acid with plant cell cultures has been proposed.  相似文献

We studied the species richness of herbaceous terrestrial plant species along an elevational gradient at 250–2425 m a.s.l. in evergreen tropical forest in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. We recorded 302 species belonging to 51 families. Ferns and lycophytes contributed 62% of the species, followed by monocots with 24% and dicots with 14%. Overall herb species richness did not show any particular relation with elevation, while the richness of ferns increased significantly with elevation, monocots did not show a pattern, and dicots showed a hump-shaped pattern with maximum richness at 1800 m. These patterns in turn were only partly reflected in the patterns of the individual plant families making up each group. The independence of different taxa was also reflected in their relationships to environmental factors (temperature, precipitation, and area): although, each single family was related to one or several factors, at the group level and at the overall level these trends were lost. These results show that interpreting diversity at higher taxonomic level may overlook important information at the family level and raises the biologically intriguing question whether overall patterns of diversity result from a random accumulation of group-specific patterns or if there is some interaction between groups (e.g., via competition and niche-pre-emption).  相似文献

A preliminary investigation in the Subansiri area of the eastern Himalaya recorded high plant endemism. As a regular exercise of field sampling of various forest types to map the biorich areas, the number of species observed was evaluated to analyze their endemic status in one of the important hotspot regions of the world. The total number of individuals, species, genera and families observed were recorded in various natural and semi-natural forest types. A total of 122 plots sampled randomly in various forest types recorded 764 plant species, of which 59 were found to be endemic. The overall species endemism is observed to be 13 per ha. These 59 species belong to 27 families and 46 genera. Fifty percent of species were from just five families, Rubiaceae, Lauraceae, Acanthaceae, Magnoliaceae and Rosaceae. Stem size class distribution of the most abundantly found endemic tree species in three primary forest types indicated a quantitative status. This study envisages the status of plant endemism carried out following a proportional stratified random sampling method for various classified vegetation cover types using satellite remote sensing data. Many primitive genera and families were recorded which are indicative of long evolutionary age and affinities of the area with respect to species endemism.  相似文献

To examine the influence of plant-microorganism interactions on soil-N transformations (e.g. net mineralization, net immobilization) a pot experiment was conducted in a14C-labelled atmosphere by using different (two annuals, one perennial) plants species. It was assumed that variation in below-ground, microorganism-available C would influence N transformations in soil. Plant species were fertilized (low rate) with15N-labelled nitrogen and grown, during days 13 and 62 after germination, in a growth chamber with a14C-labelled atmosphere. Nitrification was inhibited by using nitrapyrin (N-Serve). During the chamber period, shoots were harvested, and associated roots and soil were collected on two sampling occasionm, e.g. after 4 and 7 weeks in the growth chamber.The distribution of net (%) assimilated14C was significantly affected by both plant and time factors, and there was a significant plant × time interaction. There were significant differences between plants in all plant-soil compartments examined as well as in the degree of the plant × time interaction.Differences in the14C distribution between plants were due to both interspecific and developmental variation. In general, when comparing15N and14C quantities between species, many of the differences found between plants can be explained by the differences determined in the weight of shoot or root parts. Despite the fact that amounts of C released were greater in ryegrass than in the other plant-treatments no unequivocal evidence was found to show that the effects of plant-microorganism interactions on soil-N mineralization were greater under ryegrass. Possible mechanisms accounting for the partitioning of N found among plant biomass, soil biomass and soil residues are discussed.  相似文献

MAPK cascades are universal signal transduction modules and play important roles in plant growth, development and in response to a variety of biotic and abiotic stresses. Although MAPKs and MAPKKs have been systematically investigated in several plant species including Arabidopsis, rice and poplar, no systematic analysis has been conducted in the emerging monocot model plant Brachypodium distachyon. In the present study, a total of 16 MAPK genes and 12 MAPKK genes were identified from B. distachyon. An analysis of the genomic evolution showed that both tandem and segment duplications contributed significantly to the expansion of MAPK and MAPKK families. Evolutionary relationships within subfamilies were supported by exon-intron organizations and the architectures of conserved protein motifs. Synteny analysis between B. distachyon and the other two plant species of rice and Arabidopsis showed that only one homolog of B. distachyon MAPKs was found in the corresponding syntenic blocks of Arabidopsis, while 13 homologs of B. distachyon MAPKs and MAPKKs were found in that of rice, which was consistent with the speciation process of the three species. In addition, several interactive protein pairs between the two families in B. distachyon were found through yeast two hybrid assay, whereas their orthologs of a pair in Arabidopsis and other plant species were not found to interact with each other. Finally, expression studies of closely related family members among B. distachyon, Arabidopsis and rice showed that even recently duplicated representatives may fulfill different functions and be involved in different signal pathways. Taken together, our data would provide a foundation for evolutionary and functional characterization of MAPK and MAPKK gene families in B. distachyon and other plant species to unravel their biological roles.  相似文献

2011年11月至2012年10月,作者采用粪便显微分析法研究了黄山短尾猴的四季食性.结果表明:黄山短尾猴共取食植物26科50种;不同季节间黄山短尾猴食性具有明显变化,冬季取食13科25种植物,春季取食23科46种植物,夏季取食14科32种植物,秋季取食17科37种植物;壳斗科、樟科是黄山短尾猴全年的主要食物,占短尾猴总取食量的51.26%~59.75%,其他科属植物也占有重要地位;甜槠在四季均为黄山短尾猴的主要取食食物,豹皮樟在冬季取食量相对较高,秋季最低,红楠、杉木在冬春季节的取食比例差异最大;黄山短尾猴采取与其他灵长类相似的觅食策略;黄山短尾猴四季食物生态位宽度差异不明显,受人为影响较为明显.  相似文献
