Deep-sea microorganisms are a new source of bioactive compounds. In this study, crude ethyl acetate extracts of 176 strains of deep-sea bacteria, isolated from sediments of the West Pacific Ocean, were screened for their antibacterial activity against four test bacterial strains isolated from marine biofilms. Of these, 28 deep-sea bacterial strains exhibited antibacterial activity against one or more of the bacteria tested. Active deep-sea bacterial strains belonged mainly to the genera of Pseudomonas, Psychrobacter and Halomonas. Additionally, antilarval activity of 56 deep-sea bacterial strains was screened using Balanus amphitrite larvae. Seven bacterial strains produced metabolites that had strong inhibitive effects on larval settlement. None of these metabolites showed significant toxicity. The crude extract of one deep-sea Streptomyces strain could completely inhibit larval settlement at a concentration of 25 microg ml(-1).  相似文献

从河豚卵巢中分离得到35株细菌,利用小鼠生物法检测获11株产河豚毒素(TTX)菌株,其中有6株菌产TTX含量达400ng/mL以上,对其中ZY-23菌株进行传统分类学方法鉴定,初步鉴定为液化沙雷氏菌(Serratia liquefaciens)。16SrRNA基因序列分析,ZY-23菌株与Serratiasp.Tp5的亲缘关系最近,相似度达99%。用荧光检测分析其发酵液,发现在423nm处与标准品具有相同的发射峰,初步证实发酵液含有TTX。  相似文献

This paper deals with making inferences about the number of resident bacterial strains in mice gut based on the number of strains of bacteria found in a random sample of colonies derived from plated faecal material. It is shown that for what seems to be a natural way to test the hypothesis that there is only one resident bacterial strain against the alternative that there is more than one resident strain the probability of a Type II error may be unacceptably large. It is also shown that given the sample contains only one bacterial strain the probability that the animal has only one resident strain converges to unity at a geometric rate as the sample size increases.  相似文献

Biodegradation characteristics of 2,4- and 2,6-dinitrotoluenes (DNTs) individually by pure strains and defined mixed cultures obtained from a mixed culture isolated from a slate packed bed bioreactor is described. Batch degradation experiments were carried out with free cells in submerged cultivations. The degradation rate and efficiency of five best individual bacterial strains, bacterial consortia comprising three and five of these strains, and the complete mixed culture were evaluated and compared. All the strains showed ability to degrade both the DNTs. All but one strain degraded both DNTs at the same rate. The degradation rate as well as the degradation efficiency by the mixed cultures was higher than that by the individual strains. The complete mixed culture showed 15-20x higher degradation rate than the individual bacterial strains.  相似文献

采用平板划线法从人工湿地的芦苇、美人蕉的根际土壤中分离出若干细菌、真菌、放线菌菌株,在实验室条件下检测了这些菌株对灭菌生活污水和自然生活污水COD的去除效果,结果表明4株细菌、1株放线菌、1株真菌对灭菌生活污水和自然生活污水COD均具有较高的去除率。4株细菌在降解灭菌生活污水COD的去除率在48 h后依次为75.4%、78.7%、83.5%、69.8%;其在降解未灭菌生活污水COD的去除率在48 h后依次为43.4%、47.8%、50.7%、36.8%;真菌对灭菌和未灭菌生活污水COD的去除率在48 h后分别为60.2%、41.3%;放线菌对灭菌和自然生活污水COD 48 h后的去除率分别为57.8%、46.4%。这几株高效降解COD的湿地根际微生物具有潜在的应用价值。  相似文献

Various mechanisms have been demonstrated to be operative in bacterial adhesion to surfaces, but whether bacterial adhesion to surfaces can ever be captured in one generally valid mechanism is open to question. Although many papers in the literature make an attempt to generalize their conclusions, the majority of studies of bacterial adhesion comprise only two or fewer strains. Here we demonstrate that three strains isolated from a medical environment have a decreasing affinity for substrata with increasing surface free energy, whereas three strains from a marine environment have an increasing affinity for substrata with increasing surface free energy. Furthermore, adhesion of the marine strains related positively with substratum elasticity, but such a relation was absent in the strains from the medical environment. This study makes it clear that strains isolated from a given niche, whether medical or marine, utilize different mechanisms in adherence, which hampers the development of a generalized theory for bacterial adhesion to surfaces.  相似文献

Sixteen fungal strains reported in the literature as endo-inulinase producers and three bacterial strains, isolated from the dahlia rhizosphere, were analysed for endo-inulinase production. From four isolated strains (one fungus and three bacteria) the results were evaluated in terms of substrate consumption, cell growth and production of endo-inulinases. All three bacterial strains were sole endo-inulinase producers and, among these, strain Paenibacillus sp. CDB 003 was the most suitable for endo-inulinase production, as this enzyme produced inulobiose as the principal substrate as well as inulo-oligosaccharides with polymerisation degrees of 3-5.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that the rate of settlement of zoospores of the green alga Enteromorpha is stimulated by mixed microbial biofilms and that the number of zoospores settling is positively correlated with the number of bacteria in the biofilm. In the present study the specificity of this relationship has been investigated. Ninety-nine strains of marine bacteria were isolated from natural biofilms on rocks and the surface of Enteromorpha plants. Isolates were screened by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) to eliminate replicates and 16S rDNA sequencing identified a total of 37 unique strains. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the isolated bacterial strains belonged to three groups gamma-Proteobacteria (28 strains), Cytophaga-Flavobacteria-Bacteroid (CFB) group (six strains) and alpha-Proteobacteria (one strain). Two strains were unassigned, showing < 93% sequence similarity with the CFB group. The main genera of gamma-Proteobacteria were Pseudoalteromonas (14 strains), Vibrio (five strains), Shewanella (five strains), Halomonas (three strains) and Pseudomonas (one strain). Spore settlement experiments were conducted on single-species biofilms, developed for different times on glass slides. The effect of correcting spore settlement values for biofilm density was evaluated. Results showed that the effect of bacterial strains on spore settlement was strain- but not taxon-specific and activity varied with the age of the biofilm. However, most of the strains belonging to genera Vibrio and Shewanella showed stimulation. Pseudoalteromonas strains showed a range of effects including settlement-inhibiting, paralysing and lysing activities. Spatial analysis of bacterial density in the presence and absence of spores revealed a range of different types of association between spores and bacteria. Overall, the spatial association between spores and bacteria appears to be independent of the overall quantitative influence of bacterial cells on spore settlement.  相似文献

【目的】对塔克拉玛干沙漠腹地胡杨林土壤细菌多样性进行初步探索,为下一步从中筛选可用于生物饲料或生物肥料的微生物奠定基础。【方法】采用可培养方法,进行细菌的分离纯化。对各菌株进行革兰氏染色及淀粉酶、酯酶、纤维素酶和NaCl耐受浓度的测定,并提取各菌株基因组DNA,进行16SrRNA基因扩增、测序及系统进化树的绘制,分析其多样性。【结果】共分离得到27株菌,其中放线菌门(Actinobacteria)16株,变形菌门(Proteobacteria)4株,厚壁菌门(Firmicutes)6株,拟杆菌门(Bacteroidetes)1株。革兰氏染色结果表明,5株菌为革兰氏阴性,其余为革兰氏阳性;酶活测定结果表明,15株菌具有淀粉酶活性,9株菌具有酯酶活性,9株菌具有纤维素酶活性;NaCl耐受浓度测定结果显示,NaCl浓度为2%时所有菌株均能生长,5%时能生长的有22株,15%时能生长的有1株。【结论】塔克拉玛干沙漠腹地胡杨林土壤中存在较丰富的细菌类群,且具有一定的酶学活性和NaCl耐受性,具有进一步研究开发的价值。  相似文献

The potential of 89 culturable cold-adapted isolates from uncontaminated habitats, including 61 bacterial and 28 yeast strains, to utilize representative fractions of petroleum hydrocarbons (n-alkanes, monoaromatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) for growth and to produce various enzymes at 10°C was investigated. The efficiency of bacterial and yeast strains was compared. The growth temperature range of the yeast strains was significantly smaller than that of the bacterial strains. Sixty percent of the yeasts but only 8% of the bacteria could be classified as true psychrophiles, showing no growth above 20°C. A high percentage (89%) of the yeast strains showed lipase activity. More than one-third of the 61 bacterial strains produced amylase, -lactamase, -galactosidase or lipase; more than two-thirds were protease producers. Only 6% of the bacterial strains but 79% of the yeast strains utilized n-hexadecane for growth; 13% of the bacterial strains and 21–32% of the yeast strains utilized phenol, phenanthrene or anthracene for growth. Only four yeast strains but none of the bacterial strains could grow with all hydrocarbons tested. The biodegradation of phenol was investigated in fed-batch cultures at 10°C. Three yeast strains degraded phenol concentrations as high as 10 mm (one strain) or 12.5 mm (two strains). Of eight bacterial strains, two strains degraded up to 10 mm phenol. The optimum temperature for phenol degradation was 20°C for all eight bacterial strains and for two yeast strains. Biodegradation by five yeast strains was optimal at 10°C and faster at 1°C than at 20°C. All phenol-degrading strains produced catechol 1,2 dioxygenase activity.Communicated by K. Horikoshi  相似文献

This study examines the interactions that occur between Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Oenococcus oeni strains during the process of winemaking. Various yeast/bacteria pairs were studied by applying a sequential fermentation strategy which simulated the natural winemaking process. First, four yeast strains were tested in the presence of one bacterial strain leading to the inhibition of the bacterial component. The extent of inhibition varied widely from one pair to another and closely depended on the specific yeast strain chosen. Inhibition was correlated to weak bacterial growth rather than a reduction in the bacterial malolactic activity. Three of the four yeast strains were then grown with another bacteria strain. Contrary to the first results, this led to the bacterial stimulation, thus highlighting the importance of the bacteria strain. The biochemical profile of the four yeast fermented media exhibited slight variations in ethanol, SO(2) and fatty acids produced as well as assimilable consumed nitrogen. These parameters were not the only factors responsible for the malolactic fermentation inhibition observed with the first bacteria strain. The stimulation of the second has not been reported before in such conditions and remains unexplained.  相似文献

The antibacterial activity of the leaf essential oil of Blumea mollis was assayed against 14 clinically isolated bacterial strains on Muller–Hinton Agar medium and Muller–Hinton Agar medium with 5% sheep blood. The essential oil had promising antibacterial activity against all the bacterial strains tested. The highest mean zone of inhibition and lowest values of minimum inhibitory concentration were recorded against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus followed by beta hemolytic Streptococcus pyogenes. The Gram-positive bacteria were more sensitive than Gram-negative bacteria. Among the bacterial strains tested, Psudomonas aeruginosa was resistant to the essential oil. The results of the present study suggest that the essential oil of B. mollis is one of the new medicinal resources as an antibacterial agent against the bacterial strains tested.  相似文献

Eight mercury-resistant bacterial strains isolated from the Chesapeake Bay and one strain isolated from the Cayman Trench were examined for ability to volatilize mercury. Mercury volatilization was found to be variable in the strains tested. In addition, plasmids were detected in all strains. After curing, two of the bacterial strains lost mercury resistance, indicating that volatilization is plasmid mediated in these strains. Only two cultures demonstrated ability to methylate mercuric chloride under either aerobic or anaerobic conditions. Methylation of mercury, compared with volatilization, appears to be mediated by a separate genetic system in these bacteria. It is concluded that mercury volatilization in the estuarine environment can be mediated by genes carried on plasmids.  相似文献

Summary Several bacterial strains that can oxidize mono- and dichlorinated biphenyls with one unsubstituted ring have already been described. The major route for this biodegradation leads ultimately to the corresponding chlorobenzoic acid, but several other minor chlorinated metabolites that might possibly be of concern for the environment have also been described previously. Since none of the bacterial strains that are able to oxidize these chlorinated biphenyls in pure culture are known to degrade chlorobenzoic acid, the oxidation of these substrates by axenic cultures always generates chlorobenzoates plus several other metabolites. In the present study, we have estimated the biodegradation of 4-chlorobiphenyl (4CB) by a two-membered bacterial culture containing one strain able to grow on 4CB and to transform it into 4-chlorobenzoate (4CBA) and one strain able to degrade 4CBA. The results were encouraging, since it was shown that the degradation of 4CB was more rapid and complete with the double bacterial culture.  相似文献

Identifying the G + C difference between closely related bacterial species or between different strains of the same species is one of the first steps in understanding the evolutionary mechanisms accounting for the differences observed among bacterial species. The G + C content can be one of the most important factors in the evolution of genomic structures. In this paper, we describe a new method for detecting an initial stage of differentiation of the G + C content at the third codon base position between two strains of the same bacterial species. We apply this method to the two strains of Helicobacter pylori. A group of genes is detected with large variations of G + C in the third positions—apparently genes of early response to pressures of changing G + C.
