Mice were maintained in a controlled pollutant-free microenvironment and were exposed for 12, 24, 48 and 72 hr to 3 different concentrations of small positive or negative air ions: 2–4 × 103 ions/cm3, 3–4 × 104 ions/cm3 or 3.5–5 × 105 ions/cm3. Spectrophotofluorometric assays of brain serotonin levels of air ion-treated mice showed statistically significant differences as early as 12 hours from those of mice kept in untreated pollutant-free air. Essentially no deviation from control values were observed at 24 and 48 hours. After 72 hours of exposure sharp decreases took place in all groups with the single exception of the animals exposed to 3–4 × 104 positive ions/cm3. The hypothesis that alterations in mood and affect associated with certain meteorological conditions, e.g. winds such as the foehn, sirocco, etc. might depend upon air ion-induced changes in brain levels of serotonin was examined in the light of recent advances in neurophysiology and neuropharmacology.  相似文献

The absence of harmful effects of protracted negative air ionisation was studied in 5 weather-sensitive women and 5 normal men chosen at random. Negative ions were generated by the Modulion of Amcor-Amron (Herzliya, Israel). The patients were exposed separately during 8 sleeping hours and 8 working hours to the apparatus at 1–2 m distance in a 4 × 4 m room, for 2 months. Thus they were exposed to a daily uptake of 1 × 104 negative ions/cm3 for 16 h/day during 2 months. Urinary 17-KS, 17-OH, adrenaline and noradrenaline excretion was not affected by the negative ionisation. However serotonin, 5-HIAA, histamine and thyroxine excretion — if increased before — diminished by 50% on an average. There were no changes in body weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, oral morning temperature, dynamometer grip strength, routine liver function tests, urinary pH, albumen, glucose, ketones, bilirubin, or occult blood, red and white blood count and ECG records. The EEG revealed the typical changes due to negative air ionisation: stabilising of frequency, increased amplitudes, spreading of brainwaves from the perceptive occipital area to the conceptive frontal area and synchronisation of both hemisphere tracings.  相似文献

An equal number of male and female rats of the King-Holtzman hybrid breed, divided into two age groups (group A1 : 21–30 days old and group A2 : 90–100 days old), were exposed to two levels of noise: N0 = 30 db and N1 = 90 db, (Ref. 0.0002μ bar), and three levels of negative air ions: IO = no measurable ion concentration, I1 = 7 × 106 ions/cm3 and I2 = 7 × 107 ions/cm3. Time and error scores of 240 rats running a modified Lashley left-right maze with an escape-from-water motive served as criteria. A randomized complete blocks design with replications (2×3×2×2×10) was selected for treatment by analysis of variance. The results indicate that (a) the males show significantly lower error score in negatively ionized air; and (b) the females swim significantly faster than males under all investigated conditions with no apparent effect of noise or ions on their performance.
Zusammenfassung Eine gleiche Anzahl m?nnlicher und weiblicher Ratten (n = 120) des King-Holtzman Stammes, unterteilt in 2 Altersgruppen (21–30 und 90–100 Tage) wurden zwei Ger?uschintensit?ten (30 db und 90 db) und 3 Konzentrationen negativer Luftionen I0: nicht messbar niedrig, I1:7×106, I2:7×107 Ionen/cm3 ausgesetzt. Die Wirkung wurde geprüft an der Schwimmzeit und der Anzahl Fehler der Tiere im Lasley-Links-Rechts-Labyrinth. Das Motiv zum Schwimmen war, aus dem Wasser zu entkommen. Die Auswertung durch Varianzanalyse erfolgte unter Nachbildung randomisierter kompletter Blockentwürfe. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass (a) die M?nnchen bei negativ ionisierter Luft signifikant weniger Fehler machten und (b) die Weibchen unter allen Bedingungen schneller schwammen als die M?nnchen, ohne dass das L?rmniveau oder die Luftionisation darauf einen Einfluss hatten.

Resume Un nombre égal de rats males et femelles (120 de chaque) de la race King-Holtzman futdivisé en deux groupes d'age (21 à 30 jours et 90 à 100 jours). Ils furent exposés à 2 intensités auditives (30 et 90 db) et à 3 concentrations d'ions négatifs: I0 non mesurables (faible), I1 : 7 × 106 et I2: 7 × 107 ions/cm3. Les effets d'un tel traitement furent examinés au moyen de deux critères: le temps pris pour sortir de l'eau et le nombre de fautes commises dans un labyrinthe droitegauche de Laslay. Pour l'analyse des variances, on a adopté une répartition due au hasard avec répétitions (2×3×2×2×10). On peut en conclure que: (a) les males font moins d'erreurs dans l'air ionisé négativement et cela de fa?on significative et (b) les femelles ont nagé plus vite que les males dans toutes les conditions de l'essai. Ni le bruit ni le degré d'ionisation ne semblent avoir d'influence sur leur comportement.

 This study examined the effects of negative air ion exposure on the human cardiovascular and endocrine systems during rest and during the recovery period following moderate endurance exercise. Ten healthy adult men were studied in the presence (8,000–10,000 cm−3) or absence (200–400 cm−3) of negative air ions (25° C, 50% humidity) after 1 h of exercise. The level of exercise was adjusted to represent a 50–60% load compared with the subjects’ maximal oxygen uptake, which was determined using a bicycle ergometer in an unmodified environment (22–23° C, 30–35% humidity, 200–400 negative air ions·cm−3). The diastolic blood pressure (DBP) values during the recovery period were significantly lower in the presence of negative ions than in their absence. The plasma levels of serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine (DA) were significantly lower in the presence of negative ions than in their absence. These results demonstrated that exposure to negative air ions produced a slow recovery of DBP and decreases in the levels of 5-HT and DA in the recovery period after moderate endurance exercise. 5-HT is thought to have contributed to the slow recovery of DBP. Influence of artificial air ionisation on the human electroencephalogram   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Exposure of 20 subjects to negative ionisation was monitored by EEG. Negative ionisation was supplied by an Ionotron apparatus (Amcor-Amron, Herzlia-Israel) with an output of 3.5 × 105 ions/(cm3 · sec) at 1 m distance. Objective findings in ten normal subjects showed reduction of the frequency of the alpha-waves from 10 or 11 down to 9 or 8 Hz, increase of the amplitude by up to 20%, advance of the alpha rhythm pattern from the occipital to the frontal area and general synchronisation of the EEG records of both hemispheres. These reactions were suppressed in 10 subjects by tranquillisers. Subjective findings included relaxation, alertness, improved working capacity and relief from the Serotonin Irritation Syndrome produced by the positive ionisation of hot, dry desert winds.This paper is devoted to the memory of Dr Igho H.Kornblueh, the pioneer of ion therapy, who passed away in 1973 in Philadelphia. Working on this project in 1957 he concluded "that further research on the effects of ionisation on the EEG is warranted".This report was prepared with the technical assistance of Mrs Suzi Alpern and B.Shalita.  相似文献

Rats, given the choice, avoid exposure to alternating current (ac) 60-Hz electric fields at intensities ? 75 kV/m. This study investigated the generality of this behavior by studying the response of rats when exposed to high voltage direct current (HV dc) electric fields. Three hundred eighty male Long Evans rats were studied in 9 experiments with 40 rats per experiment and in one experiment with 20 rats to determine 1) if rats avoid exposure to HVdc electric fields of varying field strengths, and 2) if avoidance did occur, what role, if any, the concentration of air ions would have on the avoidance behavior. In all experiments a three-compartment glass shuttlebox was used; either the left or right compartment could be exposed to a combination of HVdc electric fields and air ions while the other compartment remained sham-exposed. The third, center compartment was a transition zone between exposure and sham-exposure. In each experiment, the rats were individually assessed in 1-h sessions where half of the rats (n = 20) had the choice to locomote between the two sides being exposed or sham-exposed, while the other half of the rats'(n = 20) were sham-exposed regardless of their location, except in one experiment where there was no sham-exposed group. The exposure levels for the first six experiments were 80, 55, 42.5, 30, ?36, and ?55 kV/m, respectively. The air ion concentration was constant at 1.4 × 106 ions/cc for the four positive exposure levels and ?1.4 × 106 ions/cc for the two negative exposure levels. Rats having a choice between exposure and non-exposure relative to always sham-exposed control animals significantly reduced the amount of time spent on the exposed side at 80kV/m (P < .002) as they did at both 55 and ?55 kV/m (P < .005). No significant differences between groups were observed at 42.5, 30, or -36 kV/m. To determine what role the air ion concentration might have had on the avoidance behavior at field strengths of 55 kV/m or greater, four additional experiments were conducted. The HVdc exposure level was held constant at either ?55 kV/m (for three experiments) or -55 kV/m (for 1 experiment) while the air ion concentration was varied between experiments at 2.5 × 105 ions/cc, 1.0 × 104 for two of the experiments and was below the measurement limit (< ± 2 × 103 ions/cc) for the other two experiments at 55 and ?55 kV/m. The exposed rats significantly reduced the amount of time spent on the exposed side at 55 and ?55 kV/m, relative to the sham-exposed rats regardless of air ion concentration (all at P < .005). Thus, HVdc electric fields of ? + or ?55 kV/m are sufficient to produce avoidance behavior in rats. A mathematical model is developed and a numerical analysis is performed for an electric breakdown in a hydrogen-air mixture with a low concentration of H2. It is shown that, at sufficiently low pressures p<10?2 atm, a small molecular-hydrogen additive (η=5×10?5–5×10?3) decreases the reduced field of an electric breakdown in air by a factor of more than 2 because of the appearance of an additional detachment process associated with the chain hydrogen-oxidation reaction. Detailed calculations are performed for the mean number density of negative oxygen ions [O 2 ? ]=103 cm?3 and the hydrogen concentration in air [H2]=0.5, 0.05, and 0.005%. It is found that, for [H2]=0.005%, the breakdown can develop under the action of a geoelectric field of 1.3 V/cm at p?10?4 atm.  相似文献

The relationship between leaf resistance to water vapour diffusion and each of the factors leaf water potential, light intensity and leaf temperature was determined for leaves on seedling apple trees (Malus sylvestris Mill. cv. Granny Smith) in the laboratory. Leaf cuticular resistance was also determined and transpiration was measured on attached leaves for a range of conditions. Leaf resistance was shown to be independent of water potential until potential fell below — 19 bars after which leaf resistance increased rapidly. Exposure of leaves to CO2-free air extended the range for which resistance was independent of water potential to — 30 bars. The light requirement for minimum leaf resistance was 10 to 20 W m?2 and at light intensities exceeding these, leaf resistance was unaffected by light intensity. Optimum leaf temperature for minimum diffusion resistance was 23 ± 2°C. The rate of change measured in leaf resistance in leaves given a sudden change in leaf temperature increased as the magnitude of the temperature change increased. For a sudden change of 1°C in leaf temperature, diffusion resistance changed at a rate of 0.01 s cm?1 min?1 whilst for a 9°C leaf temperature change, diffusion resistance changed at a rate of 0.1 s cm?1 min?1. Cuticular resistance of these leaves was 125 s cm?1 which is very high compared with resistances for open stomata of 1.5 to 4 s cm?1 and 30 to 35 s cm?1 for stomata closed in the dark. Transpiration was measured in attached apple leaves enclosed in a leaf chamber and exposed to a range of conditions of leaf temperature and ambient water vapour density. Peak transpiration of approximately 5 × 10?6 g cm?2 s?1 occurred at a vapour density gradient from the leaf to the air of 12 to 14 g m?3 after which transpiration declined due presumably to increased stomatal resistance. Leaves in CO2-free air attained a peak transpiration of 11 × 10?6 g cm?2 s?1 due to lower values of leaf resistance in CO2 free air. Transpiration then declined in these leaves due to development of an internal leaf resistance (of up to 2 s cm?1). The internal resistance was masked in leaves at normal CO2 concentrations by the increase in stomatal resistance.  相似文献

Taste-aversion (TA) learning was measured to determine whether exposure to high-voltage direct current (HVdc) static electric fields can produce TA learning in male Long Evans rats. Fifty-six rats were randomly distributed into four groups of 14 rats each. All rats were placed on a 20 min/day drinking schedule for 12 consecutive days prior to receiving five conditioning trials. During the conditioning trials, access to 0.1 % sodium saccharin-flavored water was given for 20 min, followed 30 min later by one of four treatments. Two groups of 14 rats each were individually exposed to static electric fields and air ions, one group to +75 kV/m (+2 × 105 air ions/cm3) and the other group to ?75 kV/m (-2 × 105 air ions/cm3). Two other groups of 14 rats each served as sham-exposed controls, with the following variation in one of the sham-exposed groups: This group was subdivided into two subsets of seven rats each, so that a positive control group could be included to validate the experimental design. The positive control group (n = 7) was injected with cyclophosphamide 25 mg/kg, i.p., 30 min after access to saccharin-flavored water on conditioning days, whereas the other subset of seven rats was similarly injected with an equivalent volume of saline. Access to saccharin-flavored water on conditioning days was followed by the treatments described above and was alternated daily with water “recovery” sessions in which the rats received access to water for 20 min in the home cage without further treatment. Following the last water-recovery session, a 20 min, two-bottle preference test (between water and saccharin-flavored water) was administered to each group. The positive control group did show TA learning, thus validating the experimental protocol. No saccharin-flavored water was consumed in the two-bottle preference test by the cyclophosphamide-injected, sham-exposed group compared to 74% consumed by the saline-injected sham-exposed controls (P <.0001). Saccharin-preference data for the static field-exposed groups showed no TA learning compared to data for sham-exposed controls. In summary, exposure to intense static electric fields and air ions did not produce TA learning as assessed by this particular design. © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

Self‐supporting Sn foil is a promising high‐volumetric‐capacity anode for lithium ion batteries (LIBs), but it suffers from low initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE). Here, mechanical prelithiation is adopted to improve ICE, and it is found that Sn foils with coarser grains are prone to cause electrode damage. To mitigate damage and prepare thinner lithiated electrodes, 3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn foil is used that has more refined grains (5–10 µm) instead of Sn (50–100 µm), where the abundant grain boundaries (GBs) offer more sliding systems to release stress and reduce deep fractures. Thus, the thickness of Lix3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn can be reduced to 50 µm, compared to 100 µm LixSn. When the foils contact open air, the Sn‐Li‐O(H) products are more stable than Li‐O(H), thus Lix3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn shows outstanding air stability. The as‐prepared 50 µm foil anode achieves stable 200 cycles in LiFePO4//Lix3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn full cell (≈2.65 mAh cm?2) and the capacity retention is 95%. Even at 5C, the capacity of Lix3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn is still up to ≈1.8 mAh cm?2. The cycle life of NCM523//Lix3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn full cell exceeds that of NCM523//Li. Furthermore, 70 µm Lix3Ag0.5Cu96.5Sn is used as double‐sided anode for a 3 cm × 2.8 cm pouch cell and its actual volumetric capacity density is 674 mAh cm?3 after 50 cycles.  相似文献

The effects of cadmium ions or cadmium-metallothionein on the activities of acyl-CoA:1acyl-sn-glycerol 3-phosphoric acid or 1-acyl-sn-glycero 3-phosphocholine acyltransferase of rat liver microsomes have been studied, in vitro. Cadmium ions were found to cause a noncompetitive type inhibition of these two acyltransferases. The Ki values were calculated, and found to be smallest (1.7 × 10?5m) for palmitoyl-CoA and greatest (1.0 × 10?4m) for linoleoyl-CoA, among the several fatty acyl-CoA's tested on the 1-acyl-sn-glycerol 3-phosphoric acid acyltransferases. With the 1-acyl-sn-glycero 3-phosphocholine acyltransferase, the Ki values were found to be smallest for the plamitoyl-CoA acyltransferase (3.8 × 10?5m) and largest for thearachidonoyl-CoA acyltransferase (1.1 × 10?4m). In contrast, mouse liver cadmium-metallothionein, including 4 mol of cadmium and 2 mol of zinc in one molecule of metallothionein, was not found to be inhibitory or rather stimulative on the above two acyltransferases at the same concentration of cadmium tested in the cadmium ion inhibitor experiments. The above results demonstrate that there is a strong and irreversible inhibition by cadmium ions on acyl-CoA acyltransferases, but that when cadmium acts on the enzyme in the form of a cadmium-metallothionein complex, the inhibition effect does not occur. These findings may reflect differing degrees of toxicity of these two types of cadmium compounds in mammalian tissues.  相似文献

The efficiency of utilizing ambipolar mirrors for suppression of longitudinal losses of particles and energy in a gas-dynamic trap (GDT) was investigated. An additional relatively small axisymmetric mirror cell was installed in one of the facility ends. Hydrogen or deuterium atomic beams with an energy of 22 keV and equivalent current density of up to 1 A/cm2 were injected into the additional cell at an angle of 90° to the facility axis. Trapping of the beams with a total power of 800 kW by the plasma in the additional cell leads to the formation of a hot ion population with an anisotropic velocity distribution, a mean energy of 13 keV, and a density of up to 4.5 × 1013 cm−3. It is shown that the confinement of hot ions in the additional cell is determined by classical processes, such as charge exchange on the beam atoms and collisional deceleration by electrons, in spite of the onset of Alfvén ion-cyclotron instability at fast ion densities higher than 2.5 × 1013 cm−3. The effect of ambipolar confinement manifests itself in that, at hot ion densities higher than 3 × 1013 cm−3, the flux density of ions escaping from the trap in the mode with beam injection decreases fivefold as compared to that without injection. In this case, the density of the Maxwellian plasma component in the central cell is about 2.5 × 1013 cm−3. The efficiency of suppression of longitudinal particle losses by the ambipolar mirror substantially exceeds estimates obtained for both collisional (gas-dynamic) and collisionless (adiabatic) confinement modes. Qualitatively, this is because, in the GDT experiments, the mode of warm plasma confinement is transitional between the gas-dynamic and adiabatic modes and the use of an ambipolar mirror facilitates a transition from the lossy gas-dynamic mode into a nearly adiabatic one.  相似文献

Temperature, cooling power, dust content, number of large and small air ions of both signs were measured three times during a 7-hr working days in an office room of volume 83 m3 occupied by 4 employees and outside during winter and spring 1968/69. The air temperature, relative humidity, CO2, dust concentrations increased significantly from 08:00–15:00 hr depending on the presence of employees. There was a gradual change in air ionization apparent as: (1) an absolute increase in air ions indoors of 15% above the concentration in the outdoor air; (2) a rise in concentration of large ions (mobility < 1 cm2/Vs) and a simultaneous decrease in that of small ions (mobility > 1 cm2/Vs) of either sign, particularly negative ions, and (3) a larger increase of positive than of negative ions. There was a positive correlation (r = +0.7) between indoor dust pollution and number of large ion (both signs) and a negative correlation (r = –0.4) between dust and small ions.
Zusammenfassung Lufttemperatur, Abkühlungsgrösse, Staubgehalt der Luft und Anzahl grosser und kleiner Luftionen beider Vorzeichen werden 3 mal täglich während eines 7-Stunden Arbeitstages in einem Arbeitsraum von 83 m3, der von 4 Personen besetztwar, im Winter und Frühjahr 1968/69 gemessen. Temperatur, rel.Feuchte, CO2 und Staubkonzentration der Luft stiegen in Abhängigkeit von der Anwesenheit der Personen im Raum von 8:00 bis 15:00 Uhr signifikant an. Es ergab sich:(1) ein absoluter Anstieg der Luftionen von 15% über die Werte in der Aussenatmosphäre; (2) ein Anstieg der Konzentration der grossen Ionen (Beweglichkeit < 1 cm2/Vs) und ein gleichzeitiger Abfall der Konzentration der kleinen Ionen beider Vorzeichen (Beweglichkeit > 1 cm2/Vs), besonders der negativen und (3) ein grösserer Anstieg der negativen als der positiven Ionen. Es bestand eine positive Korrelation zwischen Staub im Raum und grossen Ionen und eine negative Korrelation zwischen Staub und kleinen Ionen.

Resume On a mesuré 3 fois diverses grandeurs au cours de journées de travail de 7 heures à l'intérieur d'un local de 83 m3 occupé par 4 personnes et cela en hiver et au printemps 1968–1969. Il s'agissait de la température de l'air, du pouvoir réfrigérant, de la teneur de l'air en poussières et le nombre de gros et de petits ions des deux signes. La température, l'humidité relative, la concentration en CO2 et en poussières ont augmenté de façon significative avec l'occupation du local, soit de 08:00–15:00 heures. Il en est résulté en outre: (1) une hausse du nombre absolu d'ions, soit 15% de plus que dans l'atmosphère extérieure; (2) une hausse de la concentration des gros ions (mobilité < 1 cm2/Vs) et une diminution parallèle de la concentration des petits ions des deux signes (mobilité > 1 cm2/Vs), surtout des négatifs et (3) une hausse plus prononcée du nombre des ions négatifs que des ions positifs. On a enfin trouvé une corrélation positive entre la teneur en poussières de l'air et le nombre des gros ions et une corrélation négative avec les petits ions.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine an optimal culture method for porcine bone marrow‐derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). Materials and methods: Mononuclear cells (MNCs) were isolated by density centrifugation and differentiated into EPCs in in vitro. At first‐passage, EPCs were cultured at different cell densities (5 × 103, 1 × 104, 2 × 104 or 5 × 104/cm2) and in basic medium (EGM, medium 199, DMEM or 1640) supplemented with FBS (2%, 5%, 10% or 20%) and different combinations of cytokines (VEGF, VEGF + bFGF, VEGF + bFGF + EGF, or VEGF + bFGF + EGF + IGF), the experiment being based on L64 (421) orthogonal design. Results and conclusions: This demonstrated that the optimal culture method for our EPCs displayed higher expansion and migration rates as compared to other groups, by analysis of variance; that is, cultured at 1 × 104/cm2 in M199 supplemented with 10% FBS and VEGF + bFGF + IGF + EGF. Furthermore, percentage of positive cells stained by Dil‐ac‐LDL and FITC‐UEA‐1 was more than 65%, and as shown by immunohistochemistry, these cells also stained positively for CD133, CD34 and KDR. The present study indicates that the number and function of porcine EPCs significantly increased when using our optimized culture parameters.  相似文献

The continuous spectrophotometric assay for adenosine deaminase has been reinvestigated, using both adenosine and 9-β-d-arabinofuranosyladenine as substrates. This assay is based on the reported decrease in absorbance at or near 265 nm between the adenine nucleoside substrate and the hypoxanthine nucleoside product. In the substrate concentration range 1,5 – 8.0 × 10?4m, the progress of the reaction is associated with an anomalous sigmoidal dependence of absorbance on time, and the overall change in absorbance decreases with increasing substrate concentration. Near 8 × 10?4m substrate, the deamination proceeds with no change in absorbance, while at higher concentrations, small increases in absorbance are observed. These effects, if ignored, generate initial “rate” data exhibiting an apparent substrate inhibition whieh, however, is completely an artifact induced by the spectral anomalies. Over the entire concentration range 5 × 10?6–1 × 10?3m, alternative assay methods (e.g., discontinuous detection of the product, ammonia) yeld normal Michaelis-Menten kineties. The anomalous behavior manifested in the continuous spectrophotometric assay is due to large negative deviations from Beer's law. These deviations are observed for all four of the nucleosides tested, viz., adenosine, 9-β-d-arabinofuranosyladenine, inosine, and 9-β-d-arabinofuranosylhypoxanthine. The departure from Beer's law is detectable anywhere in the concentration range 5 × 10?6–1 × 10?3m, but is most marked at concentrations above 1 × 10?4m. Thus, the continuous spectrophotometric assay for adenosine deaminase should be utilized withextreme caution, and should not be employed at concentrations exceeding 1 × 10?4m, irrespective of the Km value for the substrate. Intrinsic promiscuity in cowpea and bean enables plants to nodulate with native rhizobia, though sometimes ineffective rhizobia may occupy nodules, resulting in poor response to inoculation. Field trials were conducted from 2014 to 2017 in Marondera, Natural Region II, Zimbabwe, to determine the effect of increasing inoculation rates on legume growth parameters, nitrogen uptake and grain productivity. Treatments included an un-inoculated control and inoculant rates of ×1 (standard), ×2, ×3, ×4, ×5, ×7 and ×10 for both cowpea (rhizobia - inoculant-strain-MAR 1510) and bean (rhizobia-inoculant-strain-CIAT 899). Biomass productivity ranged from 2.05 (×2) - 2.94 t ha?1 (×4) and 1.10 (×10) – 1.95 t ha?1 (×4) for cowpea and bean, respectively. Nitrogen uptake increased with increasing inoculation rates reaching up to 57.56 kg N ha?1 for bean (×4) and 100.20 kg N ha?1 for cowpea (×3). The uninoculated control was not significantly different from the standard, {(×1); 1 g inoculant 500 g seed?1} treatment, for cowpea nodule weight and grain productivity. The highest cowpea and bean nodule weights were recorded from the ×3 and ×4 treatments, respectively, in the first season. Cowpea grain yield significantly varied across treatments, ranging between 0.63 and 1.55 t ha?1 with the ×3 recording the highest yield. The “×4” treatment recorded the highest bean grain productivity reaching up to 0.88 t ha?1. It can be concluded that, increasing rhizobia cells concentration per unit seed up to ×3 (cowpea) and ×4 (bean) improves response to inoculation and grain productivity suggesting a need to change product formulation or increase inoculation rate.  相似文献

A compact high‐speed full‐field optical coherence microscope has been developed for high‐resolution in vivo imaging of biological tissues. The interferometer, in the Linnik configuration, has a size of 11 × 11 × 5 cm3 and a weight of 210 g. Full‐field illumination with low‐coherence light is achieved with a high‐brightness broadband light‐emitting diode. High‐speed full‐field detection is achieved by using part of the image sensor of a high‐dynamic range CMOS camera. En face tomographic images are acquired at a rate of 50 Hz, with an integration time of 0.9 ms. The image spatial resolution is 0.9 μm × 1.2 μm (axial × transverse), over a field of view of 245 × 245 μm2. Images of human skin, revealing in‐depth cellular‐level structures, were obtained in vivo and in real‐time without the need for stabilization of the subject. The system can image larger fields, up to 1 × 1 mm2, but at a reduced depth.   相似文献

The effects of small negative air ions on the oxygen uptake of isolated mouse liver cells were studied by exposing the liver cells to varying ion concentrations. For concentrations of the order of 1–2 × 105 ions/cm3, the oxygen uptake was always higher than in the normal atmospheric conditions of 3–8 × 102/ions/cm3. For intermediate concentrations varying effects of activation and inhibition were observed. A statistical analysis showed that the oxygen uptake increased by approximately 14% when liver cells were exposed to ion concentrations of values 1–9 times the normal, by approximately 9% when exposed to 10–99 times the normal, and by approximately 38% when exposed to 100–999 times the normal. The significance and possible implications of the results are discussed.  相似文献

Inoculating whole carrot roots at 4°C with mycelial/agar discs of the grey mould fungus Botrytis cinerea gives a measure of their resistance and hence storage potential to this pathogen, but results are not obtained for at least 33 days. In the present investigation a more rapid method was used which involved inoculating root slices with spore suspensions containing 5 × 103–5 × 106 spores/cm3 at 24°C. Resistance was assessed visually and by a chitin estimation 48 h after inoculation. Both methods were used to measure the resistance of cold stored carrot roots during two storage seasons, 1976/77 and 1977/78. In each season there was a particular inoculum level which most clearly recorded the increasing susceptibility of roots with time in store. In 1976/77 this was 1 × 105 spores/cm3 whereas in 1977/78 it was the lower inoculum concentration of 5 × 104 spores/cm3, suggesting the roots were generally more susceptible in 1977/78 than the previous season. This was in accord with the results from the whole root method of assessment. A chitin estimation proved to be the more sensitive method of assessment for inoculum potential experiments.  相似文献

Relativistic beams produced by the VEPP-5 injection complex (Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics, Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences) can be used to generate plasma waves with a longitudinal electric field of 1 GV/m. A part of the electron (or positron) driver bunch is accelerated by this field over a distance of up to 1 m. The main advantage of the proposed design over the previous wakefield acceleration experiments is the beam preparation system capable of compressing bunches to a length of σz = 0.1 mm in the longitudinal direction and producing an optimal longitudinal profile of the beam density. The main parameters of the planned device are as follows: the electron energy at the entrance to the plasma is 510 MeV, the number of particles in the bunch is 2 × 1010, the plasma density is up to 1016 cm?3, the number of accelerated particles is up to 3 × 109, and their energy spread is less than 10%. The physical project of the experiment is presented, and the results of computer simulations of the beam-plasma interaction are described.  相似文献
