Grayanoside C,a new diterpene glucoside from Leucothoe grayana

A new diterpene glucoside has been isolated from Leucothoe grayana. Its structure was elucidated by X-ray diffraction analysis of a dehydrated product of the aglycone and conversion of the same to leucothol A.

Diterpene glucosides from Pieris formosa

Five diterpene glucosides, pierisformosides B-F were isolated from Pieris formosa D. Don (Ericaceae). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis. including 1H-1H COSY, 13C-1H COSY, HMBC and NOESY experiments.     

Iridoid glycosides and cucurbitacin glycoside from Neopicrorhiza scrophulariiflora

Three iridoid glycosides, picrorosides A (1), B (2) and C (3), and a cucurbitacin glycoside, scrophoside A (4), were isolated from the rhizomes of Neopicrorhiza scrophulariiflora (Scrophulariaceae), along with two known iridoid glycosides, picrosides I (5) and II (6), and three known cucurbitacin glycosides (7-9). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of both chemical and spectroscopic data.

The effects of phenolic glycosides from Betula platyphylla var. japonica on adipocyte differentiation and mature adipocyte metabolism

Betula platyphylla var. japonica (Betulaceae) has been used traditionally in Asian countries for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. A recent study has reported a phenolic compound, platyphylloside from B. platyphylla, that shows inhibition on adipocyte differentiation and induces lipolysis in 3T3-L1 cells. Based on this finding, we conducted phytochemical analysis of the EtOH extract of the bark of B. platyphylla var. japonica, which resulted in the isolation of phenolic glycosides (1–4). Treatment of the isolated compounds (1–4) during adipocyte differentiation of 3T3-L1 mouse adipocytes resulted in dose-dependent inhibition of adipogenesis. In mature adipocytes, arylbutanoid glycosides (2–4) induced lipolysis related genes HSL and ATGL, whereas catechin glycoside (1) had no effect. Additionally, arylbutanoid glycosides (2–4) also induced GLUT4 and adiponectin mRNA expression, indicating improvement in insulin signaling. This suggests that the isolates from B. platyphylla var. japonica exert benefial effects in regulation of adipocyte differentiation as well as adipocyte metabolism.

Diterpene glycosides from Gutierrezia sphaerocephala

Five new diterpene glycosides, two arabinopyranosides and three xylopyranosides were isolated from Gutierrezia sphaerocephala. One of the arabinosides contained a tiglate ester at the 3'-position of the sugar moiety.     

Phenolic glycosides from Phagnalon rupestre

Analysis of the butanol-soluble fraction from the methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Phagnalon rupestre (Asteraceae) has led to the isolation of seven phenolic compounds. Three have been identified on the basis of their NMR spectra as new natural compounds: the lignan 7,7'-bis-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-8,8'-dihydroxymethyl-tetrahydrofuran-4-O-beta-glucopyranoside (1), the prenylhydroquinone glycoside 1-O-beta-glucopyranosyl-1,4-dihydroxy-2-(3'-hydroxy-3'-methylbutyl) benzene (2) and the acetophenone glycoside 12-O-beta-glucopyranosyl-9beta,12-dihydroxytremetone (3). The known flavonoids apigenin-7-O-beta-glucoside, luteolin-7-O-beta-glucoside, luteolin-7-O-beta-glucuronide and the acetophenone picein were also isolated.     

Iridoid and phenylethanoid glycosides from Heterophragma sulfureum

An unusual iridoid diglycoside (specioside 6′-O-α-d-galactopyranoside) and a new phenylethanoid triglycoside (heterophragmoside) were isolated from the leaves and branches of Heterophragma sulfureum together with specioside, verminoside, 6-trans-feruloylcatapol, stereospermoside, (−)-lyoniresinol 3α-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, (+)-lyoniresinol 3α-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, (−)-5′-methoxyisolariciresinol 3α-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, (+)-5′-methoxyisolariciresinol 3α-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, and dehydroconiferyl 4-O-β-d-glucopyranoside. The structural elucidations were based on analyses of chemical and spectroscopic data.     

Phenolic glycosides from Barnettia kerrii

From the leaves and branches Barnettia kerrii, two verbascoside derivatives (6"-O-acetylverbascoside and 4"'-O-acetylverbascoside), as well as two phenolic glycosides (khaephuosides A and B) were isolated together with 15 known compounds. The structural elucidations were based on analyses of spectroscopic data.     

Two flavonoid glycosides from the bark of Prosopis juliflora

Two new glycosides, kaempferol 4′-methyl ether 3-O-β-d-galactopyranoside and retusin 7-O-neohesperidoside, have been characterized from the stem bark of Prosopis juliflora.     

New glycosides from the leaves and rattan stems of Schisandra chinensis

Two new glycosides, vanillic acid 4-O-β-d-(6′-O-(Z)-2′'-methylbut-2′'-enoate)glucopyranoside (1), p-methoxycarvacrol-6-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (2), along with two known analogues (3-4), were isolated from the leaves and rattan stems of Schisandra chinensis. The structures of these isolates were determined by UV, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR spectral analyses.

从毛萼香茶菜中分得8个二萜,3-乙酰毛萼结晶S、毛萼结晶甲、毛萼结晶乙、毛萼结晶丙、毛萼结晶丁、trichrokaurin、edonicin和eriocalyxin B。其中3-乙酰毛萼结晶S为新的对映-贝壳杉烷型二萜。由波谱法确定其结构。
