Domestic ruminant selectivity induces floristic changes in pasturelands, risking sustainability and limiting the subsequent availability of susceptible plant species. Development of preferences for species of lower nutritional quality may help to overcome those problems. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that early experience of sheep with a low-quality food (LQF) in a nutritional enriched context increases preference for LQF in adulthood. We predicted a higher proportional consumption of LQF in experienced lambs (EL) than in inexperienced lambs (IL) in choice situations involving LQF and alternative foods. Additionally, we determined intake of LQF by EL and IL at different levels of high-quality food (HQF) availability. From 60 to 210 days of age, EL were fed in separated feed bunks mature oat hay (LQF) simultaneously with sunflower meal (SM) and corn grain (CG), whereas IL were fed alfalfa hay (HQF) simultaneously with SM and CG. After exposure, EL and IL were offered LQF in free choice situations involving alternative foods, and also at five levels of HQF availability (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0% of ad libitum intake). Proportional consumption of LQF was lower or similar in EL than IL. Intake of LQF was also lower or similar in EL than IL at all levels of HQF availability, except when the LQF was the only food available. Our results did not support the hypothesis that early experience with a LQF in a nutritional enriched context increases preference for LQF in adulthood. On the contrary, experience with LQF diminished subsequent preference for LQF in adulthood. It is proposed that, in the conditions of our study, continuous comparison between the LQF and the high-quality supplements (CG and SM) during the early exposure period lead to devaluation of LQF by EL through a simultaneous negative contrast effect.  相似文献

Intake induction refers to the phenomenon by which animals increase consumption of a less-valued meal when followed by a highly-preferred food relative to when followed by no food or by the same less-preferred food. In the Training phase of the present experiment, we assessed the induction effect in sheep using a within-subject design where learning could be tested while controlling for digestive state. Results showed that, once intake reached stability, subjects ate more low-nutritious food (oat hay) when followed than when preceded by a preferred food (soybean meal), supporting the learning hypothesis of induction. The objective of the second, Revaluation, phase of the experiment was to explore the associative mechanism of induction, for which we paired gastrointestinal malaise caused by lithium chloride intoxication with consumption of soybean meal or a control food (wheat bran). Despite subjects partially rejecting soybean meal relative to controls after the aversive conditioning protocol, oat hay consumption seemed unaffected by soybean meal devaluation. We conclude that intake induction in sheep may rely on changes in hedonic properties of the low-nutritious food based on its association with post-ingestive feedback from the preferred food (hedonic hypothesis), but not on an explicit anticipation of the latter (signalling hypothesis).  相似文献

Previous research suggests that pigeons and rats show differences in their behavioral adjustments in spaced-trial, incentive-downshift situations. Also, Papini and Pellegrini [Papini, M.R., Pellegrini, S., 2006. Scaling relative incentive value in consummatory behavior. Learn. Motiv. 37, 357-378] and Pellegrini and Papini [Pellegrini, S., Papini, M.R., 2007. Scaling relative incentive value in anticipatory behavior. Learn. Motiv. 38, 128-154] showed that changes in the rat's lever-pressing performance, runway running, and consumption of sucrose solutions after downshifts in incentive magnitude were a function of the ratio of postshift/preshift incentive magnitudes. Here, two experiments using a Pavlovian autoshaping procedure studied the adjustment of pigeons and rats to changes in incentive magnitude. In Experiment 1, pigeons received light-food pairings, whereas in Experiment 2, rats received lever-sucrose pairings. As a result, key-pecking and lever-pressing developed in each experiment, respectively. Preshift incentive magnitudes were downshifted so as to obtain postshift/preshift ratios of 0.125 and 0.25. Pigeons responded during the postshift phase according to the preshift incentive value and independently of the ratio value. However, rats showed ratio constancy, responding during the postshift in accordance with the postshift/preshift ratio, rather than with the absolute magnitudes of either the preshift or postshift incentives. These results support the comparative hypothesis that the mechanisms underlying ratio constancy during incentive downshifts are unique to mammals.  相似文献

Acceptance of and preference for a particular food depends not only on its intrinsic (e.g. nutritional) properties but also on expected or recent food experiences. An instance of this type of phenomenon has been called induction effect, which consists of an increased intake of a type of food when it precedes a hedonically preferred food in a sequence familiar to the animal, relative to controls that have access only to the less-preferred food. The purpose of our study was to assess intake induction of a low-nutritious food when followed by different high-nutritious supplements in sheep (Ovis aries). In this experiment, we ran a supplemented phase where animals fed oat hay (a low-nutritious food) in the first part of the daily feeding sessions followed by a supplement with either a high (soya bean meal; group GS) or a low (ground corn; group GC) protein–energy ratio in the second part ate more oat hay than controls that were fed oat hay in both parts of sessions (group GH). In addition, supplemented animals presented a stronger preference for oat hay over alfalfa hay than controls in a subsequent choice. When all animals received no food in the second part of the sessions (Non-supplemented phase), intake of oat hay converged to the control's intake level in all the groups, suggesting that the presence of supplements after access to oat hay was responsible for intake induction. Lastly, we repeated the supplemented phase with a different control group where animals received oat hay in the first part of the sessions and no food in the second part (group NF), thus equalizing groups in terms of the time of access to oat hay in a session. Groups GS and GC still developed higher intake of oat hay than group NF. In both supplemented phases of the experiment, we estimated animals’ daily metabolizable energy (ME) and crude protein (CP) intake. CP intake was higher in group GS than in groups GC, GH and NF, but there was no difference between group GC and the controls. In turn, groups did not differ in ME intake in the First supplemented phase, and only group GS presented higher ME intake than the rest of the groups in the Second supplemented phase. Therefore, a nutritional account of the present induction effect seems insufficient. We propose that a learned association between oat hay and the post-ingestive feedback from the subsequent high-nutritious supplements underlay sheep's intake induction and increased preference for oat hay.  相似文献

Past positive experiences can increase herbivores’ motivation to eat low-quality foods. However, this is not always translated into a higher preference for low-quality foods in choice tests among foods of higher nutritional quality. Foraging behavior is also affected by properties of the feeding context because the quality and abundance of foods in nature change in time and space. We hypothesized that in a choice situation, the expression of a past positive experience with a low-quality food is modulated by the costs associated with selecting a high-quality food option. A total of 24 sheep were randomly assigned into two groups (n=12). During conditioning phase, one group (CS+; i.e., conditioned group) was fed with oat hay (a low-quality food) for 20 min and immediately after a ration of soybean meal (a nutritious food), whereas the other group was also fed with oat hay but the offer of soybean meal was delayed 5 h (CS−; i.e., control group). After conditioning, we assessed sheep motivation to eat the oat hay in an experimental arena in which accessibility to alfalfa hay (a high-quality food) was increasingly restricted. When alfalfa hay was readily accessible, CS+ and CS− sheep almost exclusively selected this food, showing a small and similar preference for oat hay. However, when accessibility to alfalfa hay decreased, intake and selection of oat hay was greater in the CS+ sheep than in the CS− sheep. The latter was a consequence of differential changes in behavior between groups; for example, sheep in CS+ spent more time foraging oat hay and were more likely to switch to oat hay if they had previously been eating alfalfa hay than sheep in CS−. Our results show that behavioral expression of the conditioned preference for a low-quality food depends on parameters of the feeding context (e.g., availability). We suggest that this can be the link between learning models and optimal foraging models of diet selection.  相似文献

China faces the challenge of using limited farmland to feed more than 1.3 billion people. Accelerated urbanization has exacerbated this challenge by consuming a large quantity of high-quality farmland (HQF). It is therefore essential to assess the degree to which urban expansion has preferentially consumed HQF, and discern the mechanism behind this. We found urban areas in Beijing to expand at speeds of 48.97 km2/year, 21.89 km2/year, 62.30 km2/year and 20.32 km2/year during the periods 1986–1995, 1995–2000, 2000–2005 and 2005–2020, respectively. We developed an indicator of HQF consumption due to urban expansion, representing the ratio of HQF consumed to its proportion of overall farmland, and found its values were 2.21, 1.57, 1.99 and 1.10 for 1986–1995, 1995–2000, 2000–2005 and 2005–2020, respectively. Thus, although HQF has been overrepresented in the farmland consumed by Beijing's urbanization, this phenomenon has decreased over time. Centralized expansion has contributed greatly to consumption of HQF. Topography and distances to urban and water bodies determine the relative consumption of HQF in urbanization.  相似文献

The comparison of the effects of all forage offering methods would be particularly useful information in modeling growth performance and rumen fermentation of dairy calves. Therefore, this study attempted to evaluate the effects of methods of oat hay provision on growth performance, rumen fermentation and biochemical blood indices of dairy calves during preweaning and postweaning periods. At birth, 40 female Polish Holstein-Friesian calves (3 days of age; 39.6 ± 0.39 kg BW) were randomly assigned to four treatment groups differing in the access to chopped oat hay: CON (control, starter without oat hay), OH (starter feed containing 10% DM basis oat hay), OH-FC (starter feed containing 10% DM basis oat hay and oat hay fed as free-choice provision in different buckets) and FC (starter feed and oat hay fed as free-choice provision in different buckets). The calves were weaned on day 56, and then the study continued until day 84. Intakes of starter feed and oat hay were recorded daily, whereas BW and hip height (HH) on day 3 and then every 14 days. Samples of blood were collected on the initiation of experiment and then every 14 days, and rumen contents on day 28, 56 and 84. No treatment effects were found for starter, starch, CP, total DM intake, average daily gain, feeding efficiency, change in HH, ruminal fluid pH, concentrations of ruminal propionate and NH3-N, concentrations of urea nitrogen and non-esterified fatty acids in the blood. There were differences between treatments in terms of ruminal total volatile fatty acids and molar concentrations of acetate, butyrate and acetate to propionate ratio; highest in OH and OH-FC groups, especially during the postweaning period. On the other hand, lower concentrations of iso-valerate were found in OH and OH-FC groups on day 56 and 84. The concentrations of IGF-I throughout the experiment and β-hydroxybutyrate during the postweaning period in the blood were influenced by treatment, with the greatest values observed in OH and OH-FC calves. Results of this study indicate that starter feed containing chopped oat hay improves rumen fermentation parameters, which might allow successful transition from preruminant to mature ruminant state. Also, providing chopped oat hay with pelleted starter feed seems to be a better method than free-choice supplementation.  相似文献

The accumulation of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA), and protein was followed in cultures of Escherichia coli B/r during exponential growth in different media and for 2 h after a nutritional shift-up from succinate minimal medium (growth rate [mu1] = 0.67 doublings per h) to glucose plus amino acids medium (mu2 = 3.14 doublings per h). During postshift growth of the culture, the amounts of RNA (R), DNA (D), and protein (P) increased such that the ratios of the increments (delta R/delta P; delta D/delta P) were constants (k1, k2). This implies that the rates of accumulation of nuclei1:k2:1. These constants change from their preshift value to their final postshift value (i.e., k1 and k2) within a few minutes after the shift. k1 is a function of the activity of ribosomes, whereas k2 is related to the initiation of rounds of DNA replication. These parameters and the observed change in the doubling time of RNA (= mu2/mu1) were used to derive kinetic equations that describe the accumulation of DNA, RNA, protein, and cell mass during the 2- to 3-h transition period after a shift-up. The calculated kinetics agree closely with the observed kinetics.  相似文献

The rates of cell division and of protein, DNA and RNA synthesis upon transition of Mycobacterium avium to and from rich medium were examined. The changes in cell morphology (elongation) were also examined by optical and electron microscopy. Upon transfer from poor to rich medium, the rate of synthesis of RNA increased rapidly, followed by an increase in protein synthesis within 3 h and by an increase in DNA synthesis within 7 h; cell division began after a lag of about 10 h. Upon transfer from rich to poor medium, the preshift rates for protein and DNA synthesis changed to postshift rates after 3 h and 7 h, respectively; RNA synthesis stopped immediately, there was a transient fall in total RNA, and synthesis was resumed at a new rate only after 24 h. After the period of adjustment to new medium, the bacteria entered the postshift growth in which cell size, the increase in cell mass (absorbance at 650 nm) and viable counts, and the rates of synthesis of protein, DNA and RNA were constant. Ultrastructural examination of elongated cells during the adjustment period showed that they had septa at different stages of formation, but no evidence of fragmentation was found. It was concluded that cell division in M. avium was by binary fission, and that the notion of a life-cycle was not supported by present findings.  相似文献

In order to study the main effects of particle size, three ruminally fistulated cows (550 to 580 kg BW) were fed a constant low concentrate level (3.56 kg DM/d, 20% of total DMI) and a fibre‐rich hay (approximately 60% NDF in DM) in long (28.7 mm), chopped (9.2 mm) and fine ground (2.9 mm) form in a 3 x 3 Latin square design. In another three factorial experiment with 8 wethers (4 animals were ruminally fistulated, mean BW = 68 kg) the main effects and interactions of the above mentioned hay particle sizes at two concentrate levels (10.4 to 13.3% and 29.5 to 40.1% of DMI, resp.) and two intake levels (restricted and ad libitum) were investigated. In comparison to long hay (28.7 mm), feeding of chopped hay (9.2 mm) at low concentrate levels, increased not only the hay intake (7% in dairy cows and 13% in sheep) but also the intake of digestible organic matter (12% in dairy cows and 32% in sheep), due to an increase in the apparent digestibility of OM by 3.8% in dairy cows and 8.2% in sheep. Ad libitum feeding of fine ground hay in combination with low concentrate amount in the ration increased the passage rate in the hindgut and consequently the hay intake, but not the intake of DOM, due to a significant depression of digestibility, especially of fibre fractions (4 to 7% in dairy cows and 4.5 to 14% in sheep), in comparison to 28.7 and 9.2 mm hay particle sizes. The digestibility decreased significantly with restricted feeding of fine ground hay in sheep only in comparison to 9.2 mm particle size. A threefold increase of concentrate amount levelled out all effects of the particle size reduction. The effect of particle size was more pronounced in sheep than in dairy cows.  相似文献

Interval timing--sensitivity to elapsing durations--has recently been found to occur in an invertebrate pollinator, the bumble-bee (Bombus impatiens). Here, bumble-bees were required to time the interval between the start of foraging in a patch of low-quality artificial flowers providing 25% sucrose and the availability of a high-quality flower (HQF) that provided 50% sucrose after a fixed delay. The delay changed after every 20 foraging bouts in the order 30-150-30 s. Bees visited the HQF sooner when the delay was 30 s than when it was 150 s, and visits to the HQF peaked near the end of both delays. When the delay changed to 150 s, bees appeared to time both the previous 30 s delay and the new delay. To examine whether bees also learned what kind of reward was provided at the HQF, its usual reward was replaced with 25% sucrose in a final foraging bout. Bumble-bees rejected the HQF on the reward-replacement test. These results show that bumble-bees remembered both when reward was produced by the HQF and what type of reward was produced. These findings indicate that bumble-bees can learn both the timing and content of reward production.  相似文献

The digestion of the acid detergent fiber (ADF) fraction of vetch-oat hay was studied in two dromedaries and three sheep, all rumen-fistulated and fed vetch-oat hay with a concentrate. Dromedaries and sheep consumed similar amounts of feed dry matter (DM) per kilogram of metabolic weight, but dromedaries drank less water than sheep. There were no differences in the volatile fatty acid (VFA) and ammonia concentrations in the rumen between dromedaries and sheep, but pH was higher in the dromedaries than in the sheep (P < 0.05). The mixture of VFA contained more propionate and butyrate and less acetate in dromedaries than in sheep (P < 0.05). The protozoal concentration was higher in the rumen of sheep than of dromedaries. This result was consistent with the higher N---NH3, concentration in sheep. Entodinium was the most abundant species in both dromedaries and sheep. Specific rates of rumen liquid (PEG) and particle (chromium-mordanted hay) outflow were higher and lower, respectively, in dromedaries than in sheep. Also, dromedaries had higher in sacco, in vitro, and fecal digestibilities of vetch-oat hay dry matter (DM) and ADF than sheep. In sacco, the potential degradable fraction was higher, but the rate of degradation was not. The greater utilization of ADF in the rumen by dromedaries is discussed in relation to the higher cellulolytic activity of the rumen microorganisms, the longer retention time of feed particles and/or the greater buffering capacity of the rumen contents of the dromedary against fermentation acids.  相似文献

Merino sheep were immunized against the intestinal nematode, T. colubriformis, by repeated infections, and proliferative responses of their peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) against parasite extracts and excretory-secretory (ES) antigens were monitored over 130 days. Maximal responses occurred 7-14 days after challenge. The ability of soluble proteins and parasite antigens to induce proliferation was compared with that of antigen-bearing particles obtained after antigen was adsorbed onto nitrocellulose. Blank particles increased c.p.m. two- to three-fold above that obtained in medium alone, and to elicit proliferative responses of comparable magnitude between 10 and 100 times more antigen was required when antigen-bearing particles were used instead of soluble extracts or defined proteins. Blood leucocytes as well as T-cell lines established by stimulation with parasite antigens in vitro reacted to moieties of from 5000 to 38,000 mol. wt in ES antigens on nitrocellulose particles. Direct comparisons of T-lymphocyte responses with antibody responses as assessed by immunoblots revealed different profiles of immunogenicity among ES proteins within individual sheep, but the 10,000, 30,000 and 75,000-90,000 mol. wt proteins were immunodominant. These proteins were also those consistently recognized by T-lymphocytes and sera from sheep immunized with ES proteins in adjuvant. Thus, this technique can be applied to identify parasite material which is immunogenic for T-lymphocytes, but the sensitivity of the procedure in sheep is less than reported in human studies.  相似文献

In evaluating potential mechanisms of immunity in fascioliasis we compared the time-course analysis of the antibody responses between a resistant (cattle) and a susceptible model (sheep). Sera from sheep and cows experimentally infected with F. hepatica were reacted with both somatic (FhWWE) and excretory-secretory (ES) antigens in order to evaluate the antibody repertoires in the 2 different hosts. Analysis of these sera by ELISA showed a significant increase in antibody levels by 2 wk in most infected cattle using both somatic and ES antigens, whereas with most infected sheep antibodies are not clearly detected until week 4. By EITB, both infected sheep and cows recognize major somatic polypeptides in a molecular weight range of 30-38 kDa by 8 wk. Cattle recognized 3 additional major antigens of 56, 64, and 69 kDa as early as 6 wk. Various polypeptides of 20-25 kDa are prominently detected by most sheep and very faintly, if at all, by the cow sera. The sera from both sheep and cows also identify ES polypeptides of 20-28 kDa. The patterns of polypeptides recognized by sheep infected with S. mansoni and challenged with F. hepatica in EITB are almost identical to those with a simple F. hepatica primary infection. No significant differences were detected in the antibody kinetics in ELISA between these 2 groups. Differences and similarities between these models could eventually help determine which antibodies may be predictive of resistance or susceptibility in fascioliasis.  相似文献

Ruminants generally succeed in selecting an appropriate diet relative to their nutrient requirements, and macronutrients such as energy and protein are considered as playing a primary role in their food preferences. Diet learning through post-ingestive consequences, evidenced by many studies that involved situations with simple discrimination tasks, may explain this ability to select a suitable diet. However, in more complex feeding environments where animals are faced with many plants varying both in their energy and protein contents, the extent to which such a mechanism operates is still uncertain. Our objective was to investigate a more complex feeding situation than previously tested and to determine whether lambs were able to associate three forages with both energy-based and protein-based post-ingestive consequences of various intensities. The doses of starch and casein used to elicit these post-ingestive consequences were chosen so that the apparent metabolisable energy and crude protein values of hays were within the range found in plants normally encountered under field conditions. We applied five treatments: EmPm, EhPm, EmPh, EhPh, where medium (m) or high (h) levels of nutrients (E = energy and P = protein) were associated with different hays, and E0N0 where no stimuli were associated. Each animal experienced only three treatments: E0N0-EmPm-EhPm or E0N0-EmPh-EhPh, each one being associated with one hay during conditioning, on the basis of one treatment per day over three consecutive days. Animals then had a choice between the hay associated with E0N0 and one of the two others, successively on the two following days. This procedure was repeated through five 1-week-long periods, and applied to two groups of lambs (n = 12) maintained at feeding levels sufficient for maintenance or for a 150 g/day growth rate. This experiment was complemented by a methodological trial that aimed to estimate the doses of starch and casein eliciting preferences and a post-trial that aimed to evaluate the effect of our treatments on sheep ruminal environment. The methodological trial showed that lambs perceived the stimuli and the doses, and the post-trial showed that treatments affected the ruminal environment. In the main experiment, the lambs preferred the rewarded hays but did not discriminate in their choices the variation of post-ingestive consequences due to energy and protein. This suggests that in situations closer to reality where animals experience many foods varying in nutrient contents, the learning process may be impaired. The lambs do not seem to have strictly relied on it for shaping their diet choices.  相似文献

Effect of escapable and inescapable electrical stress (ES, IS) on the catecholaminergic system was studied in young (3 months) and aged (25 months) male Wistar rats on the day 3 after stress, using radioimmune analysis and high-pressure liquid chromatography. Catecholamine concentration in adrenals and corticosterone level in blood of control aged rats was lower than in young animals. On the third day after the electrical stimulation in cages with current-conducting floor, production of hormones of adrenal cortical and medullar layers rose significantly in aged rats, with a more pronounced increase of noradrenaline after IS, while of blood adrenaline and corticosterone, after ES. In young rats no significant changes in catecholamines were revealed, whereas the blood corticosterone level was increased after IS. Thus, in aged rats, a low basal level of catecholamines and corticosterone and a delayed stress response can be established. In old animals after ES, a long post-action was observed, which was quite comparable with the results obtained after IS in the both age groups.  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to establish which physiological test parameters reflects the distance performances in the Swedish National Championships in cross-country skiing (SNC) and the International Ski Federation's ranking points for distance performances (FISdist). The present study also aimed to create multiple regression models to describe skiing performance for the SNC distance races and International Ski Federation's (FIS) ranking. Twelve male, Swedish, national elite, cross-country skiers (maximal oxygen consumption [·VO?max] = 5.34 ± 0.34 L·min?1) volunteered to participate in the study. Their results in the 2008 SNC (15 km race [SNC15] and 30 km race [SNC30]) and FISdist points were used as performance data. On the week preceding the Championship, subjects completed a test battery consisting of 7 physiological tests: isokinetic knee extension peak torque (PT), vertical jumps (VJ), lactate threshold (LT), ·VO?max, and 3 double poling tests of different durations (DP20, DP60, and DP360). Correlations were established using Pearson's correlation analysis, and models to describe skiing performance were created using standard multiple linear regression analysis. Significant correlations were found between the performance parameters and test parameters derived from LT, ·VO?max, and DP60 tests. No correlations with any performance parameter were found for PT, VJ, DP20, and DP360 tests. For FISdist and SNC15, the models explain 81% and 78% of the variance in performance, respectively. No statistically valid regression model was found for SNC30. The results of this study imply that the physiological demands in male elite distance cross-country skiing performances are different in different events. To adequately evaluate a skier's performance ability in distance cross-country skiing, it is necessary to use test parameters and regression models that reflect the specific performance.  相似文献

Haemonchosis is a very common disease in small ruminants caused by H. contortus, a blood sucking parasite causing anaemia that may be fatal particularly to young animals. Therefore, detection of the infection during prepatent period is important for early treatment. Excretory-Secretory (ES) protein of H. contortus was purified through immunoaffinity chromatography. Dot -ELISA was performed with crude ES antigen as well as immunoaffinity purified fraction (F-1) with experimental and natural sera of sheep infected with H. contortus. Solid dot formation took place with 4 day, 1, 2 and 3 weeks post infection sera. Dot formation did not take place with negative control serum and uninfected control animal serum. When crude ES antigens was reacted to natural sheep sera having H. contortus infection, 60% sera samples showed solid dot formation whereas in F-1 fraction 75% of the sera samples showed solid dot indicating purified fraction was a more potent antigen. Crude ES and F-1 were also fractionated through SDS-PAGE. ES antigen revealed polypeptides in the range of 10 to 200 kDa of which 26, 32, 60 and 120 kDa were found more prominent. F-1 fraction on SDS-PAGE analysis revealed only four polypeptides of 26, 32, 60, and 120 of which 60 and 120 kDa were found to be most prominent. Results indicate that the purified fraction of ES antigen may be utilized for early diagnosis of haemonchosis. In this experiment, the effect of the reinforcer devaluation upon instrumental performance was analysed in two strains of rats (Wistar and Lister): Food deprived rats were trained to press a lever for sucrose pellets in a single session. Immediately after the fulfilment of this session, half of the Wistar and Lister rats received an injection of lithium chloride (LiCl), while the remaining animals were injected with a sodium chloride (NaCl) solution. A subsequent extinction test showed that the subjects who had received immediate LiCl did not press the lever as often as those injected with NaCl. No differences in response suppression were found between the two strains of rats. These results also show that a single devaluation experience is sufficient for an impact on instrumental performance.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Six protozoa-free sheep, 3 fed alfalfa hay and 3 fed a concentrate diet, were inoculated with rumen contents from a steer fed the same alfalfa hay. All 24 species of protozoa in the inoculum became established in the sheep fed alfalfa hay, while only 9 species established in the sheep fed concentrate. Percentage species composition in the alfalfa-fed sheep was fairly similar to that of the inoculum. Rumen volumes of the alfalfa hay-fed sheep were significantly higher than those of the concentrate-fed sheep; however, fluid turnover rates were similar. Total protozoan numbers per ml of rumen contents were significantly higher in the concentrate-fed sheep, but after adjustment for rumen volume, there was no significant difference in the total number of protozoa in the rumen.  相似文献
