A series of naphthoquinone-benzothiazole conjugates were synthesized as algicides, and their efficacies against harmful algal blooming species, such as Chattonella marina, Heterosigma akashiwo and Cochlodinium polykrikoides, were examined. The introduction of substituted benzothiazole at the C2 position of 1,4-naphthoquinone (compounds 19) resulted in higher algicidal activity against C. polykrikoides than the C6 conjugates (compounds 1020). On the other hand, of the C6 conjugates, compounds 11 and 12 exhibited better algicidal activity against H. akashiwo, C. marina, and C. polykrikoides than the C2 conjugates. Further structure-activity analysis indicated that a replacement of the methoxy groups with hydroxyl groups (compounds 2126) decreased the algicidal activity significantly. Among the various synthetic naphthoquinonebezothiazole conjugates tested, compound 12 was found to affect the most significant decrease in the level of C. polykrikoides growth, with an IC50 of 0.19 μM. Compound 11 was found to be the most potent inhibitor against H. akashiwo and C. polykrikoides, with IC50 values of 0.32 and 0.12 μM, respectively. Overall, these results highlight a possible method for controlling and inhibiting red tide forming algae using NQ derivatives.  相似文献

Phylogenetic studies have demonstrated that Schefflera, the largest genus of Araliaceae, is grossly polyphyletic, comprising five distinct clades within the family. In an effort to establish monophyletic genera among the elements that currently comprise Schefflera, the genus Plerandra is expanded to encompass all of the members of one of these clades. In this synoptical revision, a new infrageneric classification is presented (along with a key) in which six subgenera are recognized. Four of these subgenera are newly described (Plerandra subgenera Canacoschefflera, Costatae, Gabriellarum, and Veilloniorum) and a fifth represents a new combination (Plerandra subg. Dizygotheca). A total of 33 species (one with two subspecies) are accepted, one of which is newly described (P. veilloniorum), and 22 new combinations are made (P. actinostigma, P. baillonii, P. cabalionii, P. costata, P. crassipes, P. elegantissima, P. elongata, P. emiliana, P. gabriellae, P. leptophylla, P. nono, P. osyana, P. osyana subsp. toto, P. pachyphylla, P. pancheri, P. plerandroides, P. polydactylis, P. reginae, P. seemanniana, P. tannae, P. vanuatua, P. veitchii). Neotypes are provided for six accepted names and one heterotypic synonym, and lectotypes are designated for 13 accepted names and 16 heterotypic synonyms. For each accepted species, full synonymy is provided along with geographic range and notes.  相似文献

Mycopteris, a new genus of grammitid ferns, is described and combinations are made for the species that belong to it. Mycopteris is diagnosed by castaneous rhizome scales with turgid cells, usually pectinate laminae, blackish petioles and rachises, blackish pinna costae and veins, reddish setae, cretaceous hydathodes, glabrous sporangia, and the presence of Acrospermum ascomes. It is entirely neotropical, ranging from Mexico east into the West Indies and south to Bolivia. Mycopteris is one of two genera of grammitid ferns that are consistently associated with Acrospermum, an epibiotic ascomycete that produces black clavate fruiting bodies. Seventeen species of Mycopteris are recognized here, including one new species (M. longipilosa) and one elevated from the rank of variety to species (M. costaricensis). The following additional combinations are made here: M. alsopteris, M. amphidasyon, M. attenuatissima, M. cretata, M. grata, M. leucolepis, M. leucostica, M. longicaulis, M. pirrensis, M. praeceps, M. semihirsuta, M. steyermarkii, M. subtilis, M. taxifolia, and M. zeledoniana. Lectotypes are chosen for Ctenopteris leucosticta, Polypodium amphidasyon, and Polypodium pectinatum var. hispidum. For each accepted species, full synonymy and geographical range are provided. Taxonomic discussion is provided for species not widely recognized in previous treatments.  相似文献

The development of a blood cell line originating from a pluripotent stem cell pool is modelled by a chain of multidimensional branching processes in which the sojourn times of the cells in certain resting states depend on the size of the following subpopulation. The stability of such a model is discussed qualitatively and some considerations concerning a possible malignant degeneration are presented. The behaviour of models for normal and malignant cell production are illustrated by stochastic stimulations. The model presented here describes the development of a certain line of blood cells (e.g. erythrocytes, monocytes or granulocytes) originating from the pluripotent stem cell up to the functional cell in the blood (for related models see, e.g., Rubinow and Lebowitz,J. math. A new species of Acanthaceae (Ruellia saülensis) is described and illustrated from French Guiana, and three new combinations (Justicia potarensis, J. flaviflora, andJ. tobagensis) and one new name (Justicia coppenamensis) are proposed. Thiosemicarbazones have become one of the promising compounds as new clinical candidates due to their wide spectrum of pharmaceutical activities. The wide range of their biological activities depends generally on their related aldehyde or ketone groups. Here, we report the pharmacological activities of some thiosemicarbazones synthesized in this work. Benzophenone and derivatives were used with N(4)-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazide to synthesize corresponding five thiosemicarbazones (1–5). Their structures were characterized by spectrometrical methods analysis IR, NMR 1H & 13C and MS. The compounds were then screened in vitro for their antiparasitic activity and toxicity on Trypanosoma brucei brucei and Artemia salina Leach respectively. The selectivity index of each compound was also determined. Four thiosemicarbazones such as 4, 2, 3 and 1 reveal interesting trypanocidal activities with their half inhibitory concentration (IC50) equal to 2.76, 2.83, 3.86 and 8.48 μM respectively, while compound 5 (IC50 = 12.16 μM) showed a moderate anti-trypanosomal activity on parasite. In toxicity test, except compound 1, which showed a half lethal concentration LC50 >281 μM, the others exerted toxic effect on larvae with LC50 of 5.56, 13.62, 14.55 and 42.50 μM respectively for thiosemicarbazones 4, 5, 3 and 2. In agreement to their selectivity index, which is greater than 1 (SI >1), these compounds clearly displayed significant selective pharmaceutical activities on the parasite tested. The thiosemicarbazones 2–5 that displayed significant anti-trypanosomal and cytoxicity activities are suggested to have anti-neoplastic and anti-cancer activities.  相似文献

Chemical investigation of a marine microalga, Nannochloropsis granulata, led to the isolation of four digalactosyldiacylglycerols namely, (2S)-1-O-eicosapentaenoyl-2-O-palmitoyl-3-O-(β-d-galactopyranosyl-6-1α-d-galactopyranosyl)-glycerol (1), (2S)-1-O-eicosapentaenoyl-2-O-palmitoleoyl-3-O-(β-d-galactopyranosyl-6-1α-d-galactopyranosyl)-glycerol (2), (2S)-1-O-eicosapentaenoyl-2-O-myristoyl-3-O-(β-d-galactopyranosyl-6-1α-d-galactopyranosyl)-glycerol (3), and (2S)-1,2-bis-O-eicosapentaenoyl-3-O-(β-d-galactopyranosyl-6-1α-d-galactopyranosyl)-glycerol (4), together with their monogalactosyl analogs (58). Among the isolated galactolipids 2 and 3 were new natural products. Complete stereochemistry of 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 was determined for the first time by both spectroscopic techniques and classical degradation methods. Both mono- and digalactosyldiacylglycerols isolated from N. granulata possessed strong nitric oxide (NO) inhibitory activity against lipopolysaccharide-induced NO production in RAW264.7 macrophage cells through downregulation of inducible nitric oxide synthase expression indicating the possible use as anti-inflammatory agents.  相似文献

This article concludes a series of papers concerned with the flow of electric current through the surface membrane of a giant nerve fibre (Hodgkinet al., 1952,J. N-Acylbenzotriazoles enable the synthesis (6992 % yield) of blue to green fluorescent coumarin-labeled depsidipeptides 8a–f (quantum yields 0.0040.97) and depsitripeptides 12a–d (quantum yields 0.020.96). Detailed photophysical studies of fluorescent coumarin-labeled depsipeptides 8a–f and 12a–d are reported for both polar protic and polar aprotic solvents. 7-Methoxy and 7-diethylaminocoumarin-3-ylcarbonyl depsipeptides 8c,f and 12d are highly solvent sensitive. These highly fluorescent compounds could be useful for peptide assays. Further photophysical studies of 7-diethylaminocoumarin-labeled depsipeptides 8c,12d within the micellar microenvironment of SDS reflect their ability to bind with the biological membrane, suggesting potential applications in the fields of bio- and medicinal chemistry.  相似文献

Seven hydroxylates of 20(S)-protopanaxatriol (1) transformed by Absidia corymbifera AS 3.3387 were isolated and identified by spectral methods including 2D-NMR. Among them, 7β-hydroxyl-20(S)-protopanaxatriol (2), 7α-hydroxyl-20(S)-protopanaxatriol (3), and 7β, 15α-dihydroxyl-20(S)-protopanaxatriol (7) are new compounds. The metabolites 2, 6, 7, and 8 showed the more potent inhibitory effects against DU-145 and PC-3 cell lines than the substrate.  相似文献
