Bovine intramammary infections are usually caused by microorganisms entering through the teat canal. The teat canal normally acts as a mechanical and physiological barrier preventing bacteria from entering the teat cistern. This barrier can be broken, e.g. if the teat end is damaged, making it possible for bacteria to invade the teat cistern. If an infection is established inflammatory reac-tions will occur in the udder.  相似文献

The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway regulates a wide range of inflammatory responses in many different cells. Inhibition of p38 MAPK before exposing a cell to stress stimuli has profound anti-inflammatory effects, but little is known about the effects of p38 MAPK inhibition on ongoing inflammatory responses. LPS-induced activation of p38 MAPK in human neutrophils was inhibited by poststimulation exposure to a p38 MAPK inhibitor (M39). Release of TNF-alpha, macrophage-inflammatory protein (MIP)-2 (MIP-1beta), and IL-8 by LPS-stimulated neutrophils was also reduced by poststimulation p38 MAPK inhibition. In contrast, release of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 was found to be p38 MAPK independent. Ongoing chemotaxis toward IL-8 was eliminated by p38 MAPK inhibition, although the rate of nondirectional movement was not reduced. A murine model of acute LPS-induced lung inflammation was used to study the effect of p38 MAPK inhibition in ongoing pulmonary inflammation. Initial pulmonary cell responses occur within 4 h of stimulation in this model, so M39 was administered 4 h or 12 h after exposure of the animals to aerosolized LPS to avoid inhibition of cytokine release. Quantities of TNF-alpha, MIP-2, KC, or monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 recovered from bronchial alveolar lavage or serum were not changed. Recruitment of neutrophils, but not other leukocytes, to the airspaces was significantly reduced. Together, these data demonstrate the selective reduction of LPS-induced neutrophil recruitment to the airspaces, independent of suppression of other inflammatory responses. These findings support the feasibility of p38 MAPK inhibition as a selective intervention to reduce neutrophilic inflammation.  相似文献

In the first part of the study, 24 clinically healthy teats from non-lactating ewe-lambs were examined bacteriologically and histologically. No bacteria were isolated from any of these teats; lymphocytes were observed in teat cisterns of six teats (25%) from three ewes. In the second part, 87 teats from adult ewes were examined; their origin was from lactating mammary glands with no bacteria isolated (n = 23), from glands after lactation with no bacteria isolated (n = 25), from lactating glands with bacteria isolated (n = 22) or from glands after lactation with bacteria isolated (n = 17). The salient histological feature was sub-epithelial leucocytic infiltration. In teat cisterns, lymphocytes were the predominant cell type and in teat ducts, lymphocytes and neutrophils were seen in equal proportions. Sub-epithelial lymphoid nodules, some with germinal centers, were detected in 43 (49%) teats; their majority was observed at the border between teat duct and teat cistern. Presence of bacteria was significantly associated with presence of leucocytic activity (P < 0.001) and with presence of lymphoid nodules (P = 0.032). We conclude that the presence of induced sub-epithelial lymphoid tissue at the border between teat duct and teat cistern appears to be important in protecting the mammary gland during the early stages of bacterial invasion.  相似文献

An in vivo experimental peritonitis model was investigated in the rabbit using zymosan as the inflammatory stimulus. After an i.p. injection of zymosan, exudate was removed at intervals and tested in the back skin of assay rabbits. Assay rabbits received i.v. injections of 125I-albumin and 111In-neutrophils, and the local accumulation of each label was measured in response to intradermal injections of exudate samples mixed with a potentiating dose of PGE2. When peritoneal exudate samples were tested in the presence of a specific anti-C5a antibody, virtually all the edema-inducing and neutrophil chemoattractant activity was abolished in samples taken up to 2 h after the zymosan injection. Later samples, however, contained increasing levels of a non-C5a component. In C5a-depleted 6-h exudate two peaks of inflammatory activity were separated using cation exchange HPLC. Evidence is presented that C5a itself is unable to stimulate the production of these activities. Both peaks of activity appear related to IL-8/NAP-1 as they inhibited the binding of 125I-IL-8/NAP-1 to human neutrophils.  相似文献

We explored the potential proinflammatory effect of prostaglandins of the E series (PGE's) in a rabbit model of acute pulmonary inflammation. The instillation of fragments of the fifth component of complement (C5f) into the lung resulted in a localized area of inflammation, the extent of which was quantified by the total number of neutrophils and protein recoverable by bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). Utilizing 111In-labeled neutrophils and serial scintigraphy, neutrophil localization in the area of inflammation was detected as early as 20 min after C5f instillation and reached a maximum between 2 and 4 h. The simultaneous intrabronchial administration of 100 micrograms of PGE2 resulted in a twofold increase in the accumulation of neutrophils in the area of inflammation as determined scintigraphically, a fivefold increase in BAL neutrophils, and a threefold increase in BAL protein. A proinflammatory effect on lavage constituents was also seen with the intravenous administration of PGE2 (100 ng.kg-1.min-1) and PGE1 (50 ng.kg-1.min-1) as well as in animals pretreated with a PGH synthase inhibitor, meclofenamate, and a thromboxane synthase inhibitor, dazmegrel. The effect of intrabronchial PGE2 to potentiate the inflammatory response was attenuated by the intravenous administration of a vasoconstrictor (angiotensin II) and mimicked by a vasodilator (nitroprusside), suggesting an effect of vasodilation per se. Using radiolabeled microspheres, it was determined that in response to the C5f alone, there was a 50% decrease in local blood flow to the area of inflammation, a pattern different from that seen in the systemic circulation. This decrease was prevented by the concomitant administration of PGE2 or nitroprusside. We conclude that vasodilation induced by PGE2 is associated with enhancement of pulmonary inflammation.  相似文献

Neutrophils are critical for the rapid eradication of bacterial pathogens, but they also contribute to the development of multiple organ failure in sepsis. We hypothesized that increasing early recruitment of neutrophils to the focus of infection will increase bacterial clearance and improve survival. Sepsis was induced in mice, using cecal ligation and puncture (CLP); blood samples were collected at 6 and 24 h; and survival was followed for 28 d. In separate experiments, peritoneal bacteria and inflammatory cells were measured. Septic mice predicted to die based on IL-6 levels (Die-P) had higher concentrations of CXCL1 and CXCL2 in the peritoneum and plasma compared with those predicted to live (Live-P). At 6 h, Live-P and Die-P had equivalent numbers of peritoneal neutrophils and bacteria. In Die-P mice the number of peritoneal bacteria increased between 6 and 24 h post-CLP, whereas in Live-P it decreased. The i.p. injection of CXCL1 and CXCL2 in naive mice resulted in local neutrophil recruitment. When given immediately after CLP, CXC chemokines increased peritoneal neutrophil recruitment at 6 h after CLP. This early increase in neutrophils induced by exogenous chemokines resulted in significantly fewer peritoneal bacteria by 24 h [CFU (log) = 6.04 versus 4.99 for vehicle versus chemokine treatment; p < 0.05]. Chemokine treatment significantly improved survival at both 5 d (40 versus 72%) and 28 d (27 versus 52%; p < 0.02 vehicle versus chemokines). These data demonstrate that early, local treatment with CXC chemokines enhances neutrophil recruitment and clearance of bacteria as well as improves survival in the CLP model of sepsis.  相似文献

Neutrophils are prominent participants in the joint inflammation of human rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, but the extent of their role in the inductive phase of joint inflammation is unknown. In the K/BxN mouse RA model, transfer of autoreactive Ig from the K/BxN mouse into mice induces a rapid and profound joint-specific inflammatory response reminiscent of human RA. We observed that after K/BxN serum transfer, the earliest clinical signs of inflammation in the ankle joint correlated with the presence of neutrophils in the synovial regions of recipient mouse ankle joints. In this study, we investigated the role of neutrophils in the early inflammatory response to transferred arthritogenic serum from the K/BxN transgenic mouse. Mice were treated with a neutrophil-depleting mAb before and following transfer of arthritogenic serum and scored for clinical indications of inflammation and severity of swelling in ankle joints and front paws. In the absence of neutrophils, mice were completely resistant to the inflammatory effects of K/BxN serum. Importantly, depletion of neutrophils in diseased recipient mice up to 5 days after serum transfer reversed the inflammatory reaction in the joints. Transfer of serum into mice deficient in the generation of nitrogen or oxygen radicals (inducible NO synthase 2 or gp91(phox) genes, respectively) gave normal inflammatory responses, indicating that neither pathway is essential for disease induction. These studies have identified a critical role for neutrophils in initiating and maintaining inflammatory processes in the joint.  相似文献

Neutrophil emigration is a critical component of the inflammatory process and is generally thought to play a role in host defense as well as in the tissue injury that often accompanies inflammation. Most inflammatory reactions exhibit a sequence of emigrating cell types, thus clearly demonstrating that the neutrophil influx eventually ceases and that the neutrophils are then removed from the lesion. It has been our premise that in order to understand the processes that lead to the progressive inflammatory reactions that underly so many disease processes, it is important to determine the mechanism by which the "normal" inflammatory response resolves. The purpose of this study was to identify the time of cessation of neutrophil influx in experimental arthritis induced by the injection of C5 fragments (C5f) and to investigate mechanisms underlying the cessation process. The migration of i.v. delivery pulses to inflamed joints was assessed by lavage of the joint space and by external scintigraphy. We found no evidence for the development of inhibitory systems against chemotactic factors or "desensitization" of the inflamed site, because a second injection of C5f into joints which had been injected previously with C5f resulted in enhancement rather than inhibition of migration. Neither was evidence found for altered tissue barriers to migration or for desensitization of neutrophils as possible explanations for cessation of influx. The major mechanism appeared to be a loss of chemoattractant activity in the joint space between 2 h and 6 h after C5f injection which was detected by transfer into a fresh joint. Radiolabeled C5a des-Arg had a t1/2 of disappearance from the joint of less than 1 h, which suggested that the transferred chemoattractant must, in part, have been due to the generation of new chemotaxins by C5f injection. These observations suggest that continued generation of chemoattractants or failure of their subsequent removal may be mechanisms leading to persistent neutrophil influx in chronic inflammation.  相似文献

In order to investigate pathogenic mechanisms of acute endometritis in cows and mares, we established an in vivo model in both species. Based on the results of an in vitro transmigration system, human recombinant interleukin-8 (rhIL-8; 1.25 microg per mare and 5 microg per cow in 50 ml phosphate-buffered saline) was used to attract polymorphonuclear neutrophil granulocytes (PMNs) into the uteri. Peak numbers of uterine neutrophils were attracted after 6h, in both cows and mares. On average, mares responded more sensitively than cows, with 15 times higher numbers of rhIL-8-attracted uterine neutrophils (72+/-8 x 10(7)cells). In contrast to in vitro studies, in vivo migrated neutrophils (uterine neutrophils) of both species displayed a significantly reduced MHC class I expression. Expression of the CD11a molecule was significantly enhanced on equine uterine neutrophils but downregulated on bovine cells. Compared with untreated autologous peripheral neutrophils, both uterine and in vitro migrated neutrophils showed no alteration of phagocytic capacity. The ability to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) was significantly upregulated in bovine and equine uterine neutrophils. This was also observed after in vitro migration of equine neutrophils, whereas ROS generation by bovine neutrophils was significantly depressed. In summary, the concept of inducing endometritis directly by local application of human interleukin-8 has been reliably successful in cows and mares. The model permits the analysis of PMN migration into the uterus under defined and controlled conditions. The observed differences between cows and mares with respect to phenotypical and functional characteristics of in vivo attracted uterine cells point to species-related features of neutrophil migration. In vitro transmigrated bovine and equine cells partially differ in phenotype and function from uterine neutrophils. Therefore, the in vitro transmigration assay cannot completely represent the in vivo endometritis model described here.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The model of pleurisy induced by carrageenan exhibits a biphasic response (4 and 48 h) and permits the quantification of exudate, cell migration and certain enzymes such as myeloperoxidase (MPO) and adenosine-deaminase (ADA) that are markers of activated leukocytes. AIMS: The present study evaluates whether there exists, in the pleurisy model, a significant inhibition of ADA and MPO enzymes, leukocyte kinetics and other markers of inflammation [nitric oxide (NO) levels, exudation] caused by methotrexate treatment by the intraperitoneal (i.p.) route. METHODS: The pleurisy was induced by carrageenan (1%) in mice, and the parameters were analyzed 4 and 48 h after. RESULTS: After the induction of inflammation (4 h), methotrexate (20 mg/kg, i.p., 24 h before pleurisy induction) inhibited the leukocyte infiltration (p < 0.05), NO levels and MPO activity (p < 0.01), but not ADA activity and fluid leakage (p > 0.05). Regarding the second phase of pleurisy (48 h), methotrexate (40 mg/kg, i.p., 0.5 h before pleurisy induction) inhibited the leukocyte infiltration (p < 0.05), fluid leakage, NO levels (p < 0.01), and ADA and MPO activity (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: These findings support the evidence that the acute administration of methotrexate has an important systemic anti-inflammatory activity in the studied inflammatory model. This effect was due to a significant inhibition on both neutrophil and mononuclear cells, being less marked in relation to exudation 48 h after. In relation to the enzymes studied and to NO levels, the findings support the evidence that methotrexate inhibits both enzymes (MPO and ADA) from leukocytes at the site of injury, thus reflecting the activation of both neutrophils and lymphocytes, respectively. Furthermore, the inhibiting effect on NO in both phases of pleurisy induced by carrageenan (4 and 48 h) indicates that methotrexate acts on constitutive and/or inducible NO synthases by means of different cells of the pleural cavity.  相似文献

Mechanical forces during machine milking induce changes in teat condition which can be differentiated into short-term and long-term changes. Machine milking-induced short-term changes in teat condition (STC) are defined as tissue responses to a single milking and have been associated with the risk of new intramammary infection. Albeit, their association with teat characteristics, such as teat-end shape, has not been investigated by rigorous methods. The primary objective was to determine the association of STC, as measured by ultrasonography, with teat-end shape. The second objective was to describe possible differences in the recovery time of teat tissue after machine milking among teats with different teat-end shapes. Holstein cows (n=128) were enrolled in an observational study, housed in free-stall pens with sand bedding and milked three times a day. Ultrasonography of the left front and right hind teat was performed after teat preparation before milking (t−1), immediately after milking (t0) and 1, 3, 5 and 7 h after milking (t1, t3, t5, t7). The teat tissue parameters measured from ultrasound scans were teat canal length, teat-end diameter, teat-end diameter at the midpoint between the distal and proximal end of the teat canal, teat wall thickness, and teat cistern width. Teat-end shape was assessed visually and classified into three categories: pointed, flat and round. Multivariable linear regression analyses showed differences in the relative change of teat tissue parameters (compared with t−1) at t0 among teats with different teat-end shapes, with most parameters showing the largest change for round teats. The premilking values were reached (recovery time) after 7 h in teats with a pointed teat-end shape, whereas recovery time was greater than 7 h in teats with flat and round teat-end shapes. Under the same liner and milking machine conditions, teats with a round teat-end shape had the most severe short-term changes. The results of this observational study indicated that teat-end shape may be one of the factors that contribute to the severity of STC.  相似文献

Background

Candidate compounds being developed to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are typically assessed using either acute or chronic mouse smoking models; however, in both systems compounds have almost always been administered prophylactically. Our aim was to determine whether the prophylactic effects of reference anti-inflammatory compounds in acute mouse smoking models reflected their therapeutic effects in (more clinically relevant) chronic systems.

Methods

To do this, we started by examining the type of inflammatory cell infiltrate which occurred after acute (3 days) or chronic (12 weeks) cigarette smoke exposure (CSE) using female, C57BL/6 mice (n = 7-10). To compare the effects of anti-inflammatory compounds in these models, mice were exposed to either 3 days of CSE concomitant with compound dosing or 14 weeks of CSE with dosing beginning after week 12. Budesonide (1 mg kg-1; i.n., q.d.), roflumilast (3 mg kg-1; p.o., q.d.) and fluvastatin (2 mg kg-1; p.o., b.i.d.) were dosed 1 h before (and 5 h after for fluvastatin) CSE. These dose levels were selected because they have previously been shown to be efficacious in mouse models of lung inflammation. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) leukocyte number was the primary endpoint in both models as this is also a primary endpoint in early clinical studies.

Results

To start, we confirmed that the inflammatory phenotypes were different after acute (3 days) versus chronic (12 weeks) CSE. The inflammation in the acute systems was predominantly neutrophilic, while in the more chronic CSE systems BALF neutrophils (PMNs), macrophage and lymphocyte numbers were all increased (p < 0.05). In the acute model, both roflumilast and fluvastatin reduced BALF PMNs (p < 0.01) after 3 days of CSE, while budesonide had no effect on BALF PMNs. In the chronic model, therapeutically administered fluvastatin reduced the numbers of PMNs and macrophages in the BALF (p ≤ 0.05), while budesonide had no effect on PMN or macrophage numbers, but did reduce BALF lymphocytes (p < 0.01). Roflumilast''s inhibitory effects on inflammatory cell infiltrate were not statistically significant.

Conclusions

These results demonstrate that the acute, prophylactic systems can be used to identify compounds with therapeutic potential, but may not predict a compound''s efficacy in chronic smoke exposure models.  相似文献

The intrapulmonary instillation of C5a results in a local inflammatory response that, in this site, is accompanied by a decrease in local blood flow. Reversal of this decrease by vasodilators or the thromboxane synthesis inhibitor dazmegral has been shown to result in enhanced lung inflammation. In the present study the mechanisms underlying the decrease in flow in pulmonary inflammation were investigated in the rabbit in vivo and in the isolated blood-perfused rabbit lung. In vivo, the decrease in local blood flow was shown to be dependent on circulating neutrophils. In the isolated blood-perfused lung, inflammation induced by airway instillation of C5a was similar histologically to that seen in vivo and was also accompanied by a decrease in local blood flow. The decrease in blood flow appeared to require circulating neutrophils and was prevented by dazmegral and the platelet-activating factor (PAF) antagonists WEB 2086 and L-659,989. Furthermore, no decrease occurred in aspirin-treated lungs perfused with normal blood, suggesting that the source of thromboxane was lung rather than circulating cells. The decrease in blood flow in inflammation did not appear to be a consequence of hypoxic vasoconstriction. Inflammation in the guinea pig lung was also accompanied by a decrease in local blood flow and was also prevented by dazmegral and PAF antagonists. We conclude that local inflammation in the lung is accompanied by a decrease in blood flow that involves neutrophils and the lipid mediators PAF and thromboxane. We suggest that this form of negative feedback by the neutrophil serves to control the inflammatory response.  相似文献

Metabolic alterations are associated with arthritis apart from obesity. However, it is still unclear which is the underlying process behind these metabolic changes. Here, we investigate the role of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in this process in an acute model of antigen-induced arthritis (AIA). Immunized male BALB/c mice received an intra-articular injection of PBS (control) or methylated bovine serum albumin (mBSA) into their knees, and were also pre-treated with different drugs: Etanercept, an anti-TNF drug, DF2156A, a CXCR1/2 receptor antagonist, or a monoclonal antibody RB6-8C5 to deplete neutrophils. Local challenge with mBSA evoked an acute neutrophil influx into the knee joint, and enhanced the joint nociception, along with a transient systemic metabolic alteration (higher levels of glucose and lipids, and altered adipocytokines). Pre-treatment with the conventional biological Etanercept, an inhibitor of TNF action, ameliorated the nociception and the acute joint inflammation dominated by neutrophils, and markedly improved many of the altered systemic metabolites (glucose and lipids), adipocytokines and PTX3. However, the lessening of metabolic changes was not due to diminished accumulation of neutrophils in the joint by Etanercept. Reduction of neutrophil recruitment by pre-treating AIA mice with DF2156A, or even the depletion of these cells by using RB6-8C5 reduced all of the inflammatory parameters and hypernociception developed after AIA challenge, but could not prevent the metabolic changes. Therefore, the induction of joint inflammation provoked acute metabolic alterations which were involved with TNF. We suggest that the role of TNF in arthritis-associated metabolic changes is not due to local neutrophils, which are the major cells present in this model, but rather due to cytokines.  相似文献

Here we investigate the effects of the green tea extract in an animal model of acute inflammation, carrageenan-induced pleurisy. We report here that green tea extract (given at 25 mg/kg i.p. bolus 1 h prior to carrageenan), exerts potent anti-inflammatory effects in an animal model of acute inflammation in vivo.Injection of carrageenan (2%) into the pleural cavity of mice elicited an acute inflammatory response characterized by fluid accumulation in the pleural cavity that contained many neutrophils (PMNs), an infiltration of PMNs in lung tissues and increased production of nitrite/nitrate, tumour necrosis factor alpha. All parameters of inflammation were attenuated by green tea extract treatment. Furthermore, carrageenan induced an up-regulation of the adhesion molecule ICAM-1, as well as nitrotyrosine and poly (ADP-ribose) synthetase (PARS) formation, as determined by immunohistochemical analysis of lung tissues. Staining for the ICAM-1, nitrotyrosine, and PARS was reduced by green tea extract. Our results clearly demonstrate that treatment with green tea extract exerts a protective effect and offers a novel therapeutic approach for the management of lung injury.  相似文献

Escherichia coli intramammary infection elicits localized and systemic responses, some of which have been characterized in mammary secretory tissue. Our objective was to characterize gene expression patterns that become activated in different regions of the mammary gland during the acute phase of experimentally induced E. coli mastitis. Tissues evaluated were from Fürstenburg’s rosette, teat cistern (TC), gland cistern (GC), and lobulo-alveolar (LA) regions of control and infected mammary glands, 12 and 24 h after bacterial (or control) infusions. The main networks activated by E. coli infection pertained to immune and inflammatory response, with marked induction of genes encoding proteins that function in chemotaxis and leukocyte activation and signaling. Genomic response at 12 h post-infection was greatest in tissues of the TC and GC. Only at 24 h post-infection did tissue from the LA region respond, at which time the response was the greatest of all regions. Similar genetic networks were impacted in all regions during early phases of intramammary infection, although regional differences throughout the gland were noted. Data support an important sentinel function for the teat, as these tissues responded rapidly and intensely, with production of cytokines and antimicrobial peptides.  相似文献

Background

Paracoccidioidomycosis is the most important systemic mycosis in South America. In the last decades, it was observed that central nervous system involvement is frequent, occurring in 12.5 % of the cases. The aim of this study was to report the early inflammatory changes associated with an experimental model of neuroparacoccidioidomycosis (NPCM).

Methods

C57BL/6 mice were infected by intracranial route with 106 yeast cells of PB18 strain of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis. Leukocyte–endothelium interactions were assessed by intravital microscopy 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks post-infection (p.i.). Chemokine/cytokine levels in the brain and histopathological changes were assessed 4 and 8 weeks p.i..

Results

Intravital microscopy analysis revealed a progressive increase in leukocyte recruitment in the vessels of pia mater with a peak 4 weeks p.i. The chemokine CXCL9 was increased at 4 and 8 weeks p.i., while CCL2, CCL3, and CCL5 were increased at 8 weeks p.i. Histopathological analysis revealed the infiltration of inflammatory cells and the development of progressive granulomatous meningoencephalitis. CCL3 levels correlated with clinical manifestations of disease, as measured by the SHIRPA battery.

Conclusions

The experimental model of NPCM showed increased leukocyte recruitment associated with increased expression of chemokines and nervous tissue inflammation which correlated with clinical manifestations of disease.  相似文献

This study was designed to examine the effects of i.p.-injected alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH) on murine neutrophil migration into subcutaneously implanted sponges in response to IL-1-alpha, TNF-alpha, and C5a. The results show that as little as 0.1 ml of 5 x 10(-7) M MSH injected i.p. significantly blocked the accumulation of neutrophils in sponges in response to IL-1. This action of MSH was dose dependent, reversible, and was maximally effective if MSH was given at the same time as the injection of IL-1. This effect of MSH was not restricted to IL-1-induced neutrophil emigration, because MSH also antagonized the accumulation of neutrophils in response to both TNF and C5a. The proopiomelanocortin-derived peptide ACTH which contains the MSH sequence also significantly reduced neutrophil accumulation in response to IL-1, although less effectively than MSH. Similar studies with beta-endorphin showed that it had no effect on neutrophil accumulation in this system. The direct injection of MSH, beta-endorphin and ACTH into sponges or i.p. did not stimulate a neutrophil emigration and eliminated the possibility that MSH or ACTH suppressed the neutrophil influx in response to IL-1, TNF, or C5a by competing for circulating neutrophils. The action of MSH on IL-1, TNF, and C5a-induced neutrophil emigration suggests that this peptide may be an important regulator of the inflammatory response.  相似文献
