Strain 4SM10T, an aerobic marine, Gram-negative, heterotrophic and non pigmented bacterium isolated from seawater from Vinaroz in Castellón, Spain, was characterized using a polyphasic approach. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence placed the strain within the Roseobacter clade in the family Rhodobacteraceae. Phylogenetic analyses also showed that strain 4SM10T forms a stable clade with species of the genus Roseovarius, being related to Roseovarius nubinhibens ISMT and Roseovarius aestuarii SMK-122T at 97.5 and 97.4 % 16S rRNA sequence similarity, respectively. Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI) values, determined as a measure of overall genomic resemblance, confirmed that strain 4SM10T does not belong to the same species as R. aestuarii CECT 7745T and Roseovarius nubinhibens CECT 7750T displaying ANI values well below the 95 % boundary for genomic species. Strain 4SM10T requires Na+ plus a divalent cation (either Mg2+ or Ca2+) to grow, reduces nitrate to nitrite and uses a large number of amino acids and organic acids (but no carbohydrates) as sole carbon sources. Enzymatic activities displayed in API ZYM tests are alkaline phosphatase, leucine arylamidase and acid phosphatase. The major cellular fatty acids were identified as C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c (67.1 %). The DNA G+C content was determined to be 54.27 mol%. Based on the genotypic and phenotypic data obtained, the name Roseovarius albus sp. nov. is proposed for this novel taxon, with the type strain 4SM10T (=CECT 7450T = KCTC 22653T). 相似文献

Strain PYAN-1T (T = type strain), which was isolated from a pupal gut of the firefly beetle Pyractonema angulata, and strains PIMN-1T and PIPN-2T, which were isolated from guts of adult Photinus marginalis and Photinus pyralis fireflies, respectively, were demonstrated to be sterol-requiring mollicutes. Cells of the three strains were shown by electron and dark-field microscopy to be small, pleomorphic, nonhelical, nonmotile bodies surrounded by single membranes. No evidence of a cell wall was observed, and the organisms were not susceptible to 500 U of penicillin per ml. The three strains grew rapidly in SP-4 broth medium. Strains PIMN-1T and PIPN-2T grew in medium supplemented with bovine serum fraction, but strain PYAN-1T did not. All three strains grew on solid media when the cultures were incubated aerobically, but only strains PYAN-1T and PIPN-2T formed colonies when anaerobic conditions were employed. The three strains catabolized glucose but hydrolyzed neither arginine nor urea. All of the strains grew at temperatures of 18 to 32 degrees C; strains PYAN-1T and PIMN-1T also grew at 10 degrees C. The optimal temperature for growth for strains PYAN-1T and PIPN-2T was 30 degrees C; strain PIMN-1T grew equally well at 30 or 32 degrees C. None of the three strains grew at 37 degrees C. The genome sizes of strains PYAN-1T, PIMN-1T, and PIPN-2T were about 527 (478 to 589), 570 (480 to 630), and 762 (635 to 871) megadaltons, respectively.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS) 相似文献

A new genus and species,Mospicalanus schielae, collected at bathypelagic depth in the Antarctic Ocean, is described from female specimens and a stage V male. The new species
is placed in the Spinecalanidae on account of the absence of fifth legs and leg 1 characteristics. It appears to be closely
related toMimocalanus Farran. 1908, sharing apomorphic characters such as the lack of a rostrum, reductions of setal armament on the mouthparts,
and absence of an outer spine on the first exopod segment of leg 1.Mospicalanus schielae can be distinguished from other spinocalanid genera by the setation of the antennary exopod, the maxillule, and the paecoxal
endite of maxilla. Diagnostic characters of Spinocalanidae and Bathypontiidae are also discussed in order to clarify affiliation
of genera tentatively assigned to the latter family. An updated key is given for the spinocalanid genera. 相似文献

Daphnia (C.) hispanica n. sp. has thoracic limbs of A D. (C.) atkinsoni type and is very similar toD. chevreuxi Richard, 1896. With this speciesD. (C.) hispanica shares the presence of a soft accessory seta on the outer side of the trunk of the first thoracic limb, apparently unique among the genusDaphnia. Although other morphological characteristics are very similar in this two species, a detailed comparison reveals that they can easily be separated as different species. The most useful features in differentiating both species are:D. (C.) hispanica has a dorsal crest in the head, its rostrum is longer, its accesory seta of the first thoracic limb is more developed, the juveniles are not helmeted and its male postabdomen lacks individual denticles on the anal and preanal margin. The new species is, up to now, restricted to Spain and inhabits the temporary and low mineralized waters of the steppe regions. 相似文献

Four strains of obligately heterotrophic bacteria isolated from the oxygen-sulfide interface of the Black Sea are characterized. The bacteria are aerobic, Gram-negative, with lemon-like, nonmotile cells. Bacteriochlorophyll a is not detected. They are mesophilic and neutrophilic with a temperature range of 8–35 °C (optimum 25) and pH range of 6.5–8.5 (optimum 7.8). Their growth is NaCl dependent within a range of 5 and 60 (optimum 20) g l−1. They are able to oxidize thiosulfate, sulfide and elemental sulfur to sulfate and to use metabolic energy from these reactions (lithoheterotrophy). According to the level of DNA reassociation of more than 40%, all isolates represent a single generic group. The G+C content of the DNA was in the range of 67.5–69.2 mol%. According to phylogenetic analysis, the new isolates form a separate branch in the alpha-3 subdivision of the Proteobacteria together with two undescribed marine bacterial strains. On the basis of phenotypical and genomic properties, the new isolates are described as a new genus and species Citreicella thiooxidans gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain is CHLG 1T (=DSM 10146, UNIQEM U 228). 相似文献

Two non-pigmented, motile, Gram-negative marine bacteria designated R9SW1T and A3d10T were isolated from sea water samples collected from Chazhma Bay, Gulf of Peter the Great, Sea of Japan, Pacific Ocean, Russia and St. Kilda Beach, Port Phillip Bay, the Tasman Sea, Pacific Ocean, respectively. Both organisms were found to grow between 4°C and 40°C, between pH 6 to 9, and are moderately halophilic, tolerating up to 20% (w/v) NaCl. Both strains were found to be able to degrade Tween 40 and 80, but only strain R9SW1T was found to be able to degrade starch. The major fatty acids were characteristic for the genus Marinobacter including C16:0, C16:1
ω7c, C18:1
ω9c and C18:1
ω7c. The G+C content of the DNA for strains R9SW1T and A3d10T were determined to be 57.1 mol% and 57.6 mol%, respectively. The two new strains share 97.6% of their 16S rRNA gene sequences, with 82.3% similarity in the average nucleotide identity (ANI), 19.8% similarity in the in silico genome-to-genome distance (GGD), 68.1% similarity in the average amino acid identity (AAI) of all conserved protein-coding genes, and 31 of the Karlin''s genomic signature dissimilarity. A phylogenetic analysis showed that R9SW1T clusters with M. algicola DG893T sharing 99.40%, and A3d10T clusters with M. sediminum R65T sharing 99.53% of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities. The results of the genomic and polyphasic taxonomic study, including genomic, genetic, phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA, gyrB and rpoD gene sequence similarities, the analysis of the protein profiles generated using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, and DNA-DNA relatedness data, indicated that strains R9SW1T and A3d10T represent two novel species of the genus Marinobacter. The names Marinobacter salarius sp. nov., with the type strain R9SW1T ( = LMG 27497T = JCM 19399T = CIP 110588T = KMM 7502T) and Marinobacter similis sp. nov., with the type strain A3d10T ( = JCM 19398T = CIP 110589T = KMM 7501T), are proposed. 相似文献

A non-pigmented, motile, Gram-negative bacterium designated H 17T was isolated from a seawater sample collected in Port Phillip Bay (the Tasman Sea, Pacific Ocean). The new organism displayed optimal growth between 4 and 37 °C, was found to be neutrophilic and slightly halophilic, tolerating salt water environments up to 10 % NaCl. Strain H 17T was found to be able to degrade starch and Tween 80 but unable to degrade gelatin or agar. Phosphatidylglycerol (27.7 %) and phosphatidylethanolamine (72.3 %) were found to be the only associated phospholipids. The major fatty acids identified are typical for the genus Alteromonas and include C16:0, C16:1ω7, C17:1ω8 and C18:1ω7. The G+C content of the DNA was found to be 43.4 mol%. A phylogenetic study, based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and Multilocus Phylogenetic Analysis, clearly indicated that strain H 17T belongs to the genus Alteromonas. The DNA?DNA relatedness between strain H 17T and the validly named Alteromonas species was between 30.7 and 46.4 mol%. Based on these results, a new species, Alteromonas australica, is proposed. The type strain is H 17T (= KMM 6016T = CIP 109921T). 相似文献

Mirabilicoxa kussakini sp. nov. is described from the bathyal of the northwestern Sea of Japan. This is the first record of the genus Mirabilicoxa Hessler, 1970 in the Sea of Japan. The new species is most similar to M. similis (Hansen, 1916), M. plana Hessler, 1970 and M. minuta Hessler, 1970 from the Northwest Atlantic. It differs from them in having a more elongated body (4.1–4.5 times as long as wide) and antenna 1 with the terminal article 5 shorter than article 4. 相似文献

A novel, moderately halophilic bacterium was isolated from the brine-seawater interface of the Shaban Deep, northern Red Sea. A polyphasic approach was used for the taxonomic characterization of this isolate, with the phenotypic and phylogenetic data clearly showing the distinctiveness of this bacterium. Cells of isolate E1L3A were Gram-negative, monotrichous cocci that showed a remarkable physiological flexibility, as could be seen by the quite broad growth ranges for oxygen, temperature, NaCl, and, to a smaller degree, pH. In addition, it was able to grow from atmospheric pressure up to 15 MPa, making it a piezotolerant bacterium. Phylogenetically, strain E1L3A represents a new, deeply branching lineage within the gamma-Proteobacteria, as determined by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. No close relatives are known so far, with sequence similarity to other cultivated members of the gamma-Proteobacteria being lower than 88%. The creation of the new genus Salinisphaera and the new species Salinisphaera shabanensis (DSM 14853; JCM 11575) for this new and highly versatile microorganism is therefore proposed. 相似文献

Antithamnion makroklonion sp. nov. is described from Elat, Gulf of Aqaba (Gulf of Elat) in the Red Sea, where vegetative, spermatangial, and tetrasporangial specimens were found growing in the upper sublittoral zone. The new alga belongs to a group of Antithamnion species characterized by distichous-alternate ramification of branches, sessile tetrasporangia, and decussately arranged laterals along the bearing axis. It shows a unique combination of distinctive features, including the proximal development of gland cells on elongate branchlets that overtop the parent branch. In addition to the characteristic position, and in contrast to congeners, gland cells of A. makroklonion often have a large and prominent cytoplasmic band and one or two vacuoles. Morphological features of A. makroklonion and eight related species are tabulated and the characteristics of the new species are discussed. 相似文献

Mongolodiaptomus dumonti n. sp. from several localities in northeast Thailand is described and figured. The new species shares some features with Mongolodiaptomus gladiolus (Shen & Lee), M. calcarus (Shen & Tai) and M. rarus (Reddy, Sanoamuang & Dumont), thus the gladiolus-group is created. However, it stands out in the female, by the extraordinary large postero-laterally spine at left proximal margin of genital somite. In the male, the right caudal ramus has a large tooth and a bilobed knob on ventral side; basis of the right P5 has a distinct, spur-like process on mid-distal surface; the second exopodite-segment of the right P5 has characteristically irregular outer margin, enlarged at proximal 1/3, but narrowed at distal 2/3 and bearing three lateral spines of unequal sizes; the inner margin of basis of the left P5 is fringed with a narrow hyaline lamella and dilated distally in lateral angle. 相似文献

A previous phylogenetic study on type strains of the genus Micromonospora and Micromonospora species bearing non-validly published names has pointed towards the species status of several of latter strains. Subsequent studies on morphological, cultural, chemotaxonomic, metabolic, and genomic properties, and on whole cell mass spectrometric analyses by matrix adsorbed laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) confirmed the species status, leading to the proposal of eight new Micromonospora species: Micromonospora citrea sp. nov., type strain DSM 43903T, Micromonospora echinaurantiaca sp. nov., type strain DSM 43904T, Micromonospora echinofusca sp. nov., type strain DSM 43913T, Micromonospora fulviviridis sp. nov., type strain DSM 43906T, Micromonospora inyonensis sp. nov., type strain DSM 46123T, Micromonospora peucetia sp. nov., type strain DSM 43363T, Micromonospora sagamiensis sp. nov., type strain DSM 43912T and Micromonospora viridifaciens sp. nov., type strain DSM 43909T. 相似文献
